Icelandic fleece dyed with Kool-aid, various mixtures of purple, red and orange.

I have been doing a lot of experimenting with color in the last few weeks. The top and most of the following pictures are examples of dying with Kool-Aid. I normally prefer experimenting with plant based dyes, but the only dye plants I have available to me at this time come from the grocery store. I have been acheiving interesting color combinations by mixing different colored Kool-Aid powders together. The fleece pictured above was washed, then dyed using various combinations of orange, purple (grape) and red (cherry and cherry punch). I also added alum. (I don’t think that alum is necessary to make the dye color-fast, but I buy alum in bulk and figured it wouldn’t hurt.) After the fleece was rinsed and dryed, I carded it with cotton carders and blended the clouds together to spin.

Pictured above is the skein of yarn that resulted. It is a strong, course Icelandic that I am currently weaving into fabric using a small tapestry loom.

This yarn (pictued above) was spun from white wool roving, then dyed using a combination of red and orange Kool-aid. It was later knit into a pair of girls mittens that can be seen at my etsy shop here.

I’ve also been using purple cabbage as a dye plant. Purple cabbage with alum creates a nice baby blue dye with a tinge of purple. I think that it would be possible to get a purple if put in the dye bath a second time.

The following fleece was first dyed with mint, which created a subtle hue of light green, then dyed with cabbage.

Image from baltimoresun.com.

First of all, I just wanted to say that I will not be doing “Penalty Flags,” “Positive Yardage,” or “Sharpe Wit” this week. I’ve had a pretty tough week at work, and just don’t have the energy. I did, however, want to get in this week’s entry about the Derrick Mason radio show because I learned something fairly important:

In addition to water, juice, soda, and sports drinks, it is quite apparent that they’re serving up purple Kool-Aid by the gallon over at “The Castle.” When asked about the state of the team and chances for making the playoffs, Mason cavalierly replied that the Ravens are basically in the same position they were in last year. They’d been swept by one division foe (the Steelers), but turned around and swept another (the Bengals). According to Derrick, since the Ravens have already been swept by Cincy, the team *just* needs to beat the Steelers twice and they’ll be in great shape to have a repeat of last year’s success.

I love the Ravens, but I’m also a realist. Anything can happen, true enough, and I’ll support the team no matter what. But based on what I’ve seen of our defense and coaching so far this season, I……well, I’ll just say…that must be some pretty good tasting Kool-Aid—like mind-alteringly good.

In this quick hit, I’m going to lead off with the conclusion.

In conclusion, Jane Fonda is still an idiot after all these years.

That’s a correct conclusion. So why do I call Jane “traitor” Fonda an idiot? Because she made the following quote:

“Every dictator—Stalin, Ceaucescu, Hilter—has made anti-choice a central component of their agenda. The anti-choice movement has used different strategies over the decades, growing more strategic and virulent in reaction to the modern U.S. women’s movement.”

Huh? That’s interesting that Hitler was pro-life. Wanna know why that’s interesting? Guess he wasn’t.

Huh?

Yea I said it! When Hitler came to power, he legalized abortion. It is estimated that 500,000 abortions were conducted annually under Hitler’s wing. In fact, some races that Hitler considered “un-desirable” were forced to have abortions.

It’s true; Stalin did ban abortion but was it because he didn’t want babies to be murdered before they were given a chance at life? No, Stalin was a socialist remember so he made abortion illegal so that he would have more workers once they came of age.

If I were Jane Fonda, I would cry too. Being an idiot isn't as easy as she makes it look

It’s cute that Fonda calls Pro-Life people “Anti-Choice” as if to say that Pro-Lifers hate freedom and don’t want people to be able to choose anything. This coming from a person who subscribes to a party that wants more government control and more regulations and government intervention. The word “choice” was given to pro-abortionist to empower women and their cause to commit legal murder. Just like a liberal to use words (albeit small ones) to twist things around and make others look like evil people who hate choice and love power.

She actually says in her rambling, ridiculous blog that pro-lifers are only pro-life because they want power.

Huh?

Yea that makes sense; pro-lifers only want abortion to be illegal because it makes them feel powerful. How long did it take you to pull that theory out your toilet, Jane? This traitorous swine shouldn’t be allowed to be within the walls of this country and here she is blabbing things and claiming facts that are simply inaccurate. Yea, let’s paint anti-abortionists as the bad guys. Hey Jane, this isn’t about women’s empowerment, this isn’t about women’s lib, and this isn’t about you feeling smart because you wrote an inaccurate blog. It’s about the life of an unborn child. This is the biggest genocide in human history and apparently it’s all about women feeling liberated and in charge. “This is about my body mister!” No it isn’t! Jane, you were a moron back in the 70’s when you hung out with America’s enemy while America was at war with said enemy. And you are still a moron today.

Here’s one last quote by Jane Fonda:

“Telling lies and showing off to get attention are mistakes I made that I don’t want my kids to make.”

Not only have you made those mistakes, but you continue to make em to this day. I guess that quote was a lie too. Weird

Good day,

“The Pushcart War” is one of my all-time favorite books. For those of you who haven’t read it, get thee to a library or bookstore, and remedy the situation immediately. The book is about the pushcart peddlers in New York City, who become embattled with the Mack Truck drivers who are crowding the streets and blaming the pushcarts for the traffic jams. How the beleaguered little guys join together and beat the big guys with their big trucks is a great story.

I read the book in 5th grade during all the student and racial unrest in the 60s, and it really politicized me, leading to my own petition writing and civil disobedience at school.

The petition was to get rid of our fifth grade teacher after she punished Nancy S. (I guess I won’t name names here) for having a packet of Kool-Aid in her purse. The Kool-Aid thing was a fad at the time: lick your finger and dip it in the Kool-Aid powder and lick it off. People went around with Kool-Aid colored index fingers.

For some reason this bothered our teacher, and she banned Kool-Aid packets in the classroom. One day, for reasons unbeknownst to me, David C. went into Nancy’s desk, into her purse, found a Kool-Aid packet, and ratted her out. Nancy got into trouble, but David did not. Now I was no friend of Nancy’s, who I saw as a snobby rich kid, but I knew that the teacher was punishing her based on illegally obtained evidence. And I felt that David should have been punished for going into her desk and purse and invading her privacy. I have always had strong feelings about fairness, and while I might be shy about sticking up for myself at times, I would never let something like this go by without doing something about it.

Most of the kids in the class signed my petition, including the principal’s daughter, Gretchen, who volunteered to take it to her father. But when my classmates saw how serious I was about this, they chickened out and erased their names from the petition. I was furious and stormed out of the classroom. Gretchen followed me, fluttering around me in dismay, and I turned and punched her in the arm, left the building and walked home, only to be taken back to school by my mother.

My mother was actually proud of me–not for hitting the principal’s daughter or leaving school, but for sticking up for what was right. I got a mild lecture about how the school was responsible for my whereabouts during school hours from the principal and my mother.

And that is how Kool-Aid and The Pushcart War have become linked forever in my mind.

First of all, I want to let you know that I am a conservative. I know, you’re all like “huh?” it’s t

First of all, I want to let you know that I am a conservative. I know, you’re all like “huh?” it’s true that’s what I am. I am not a republican, I am a conservative there is a difference…

And throughout my blogs I have given some reasons as to why I am a conservative. They have mostly been along the lines of “I’m for small government” “I’m for the free-market” “I’m for what the founding fathers and the constitution have given us”

Now I want you to understand this; I am not a closed minded individual. I will not only vote for people with a “C” or and “R” next to their name. If I believe someone from a different party intends on shrinking federal government, increasing personal freedoms and the like then I will vote for them. It is true. Now you’re asking “What’s your point, stupid?”

I’d appreciate it if you kept the insults to yourself, but my point follows.

I will be talking about Barack Obama. Understand this, my friend; I am going to talk about him not as a conservative but as a human who sees brosef for what he truly is. And I will tell you what he truly is.

When he was on the election trail, he made very few mistakes. He was very careful, he was eloquent, he was charismatic, and he promised the friggin moon to you. He stood up as a Senator with very little experience at all. He said he would not bring politics as usual to D.C. what has he done? Just that.

He spoke from his podiums in front of mesmerized sheep that ate out of the palm of his hand as if he was the redeemer in the flesh. The people jumped on his bandwagon and proclaimed that this guy was who he says he was, that he would indeed do as he said he would do.

Everyone loved him: black, white, purple, silver, aqua-maroon, Jews, Catholics, little people, circus clowns, Elvis impersonators, republicans, liberals, independents, old, young, middle-aged, hell even dead people loved him.

So why are people, a year from the election having voter’s remorse? Because he is showing us who he is, who some people knew he was the whole time.

So why did he win? Because voters didn’t do their research, because he is young and charismatic. Because the young voters are to inept and lazy to actually do some research as opposed to seeing a guy who eloquent and promised the moon and the stars and believed him. Because he wasn’t G-Dub. Because he smelled of fresh cut grass on a spring morning.

Freshly cut grass......

I believe he won the election because the vast majority of the people who voted for him didn’t care about his policies. Didn’t care about his vision, wasn’t willing to listen to learn. They just wanted someone who wasn’t G-Dub and wasn’t 80. The voters didn’t get off their butt to dig deeper, they weren’t willing to do some foot work because they probably weren’t that concerned about what would come of this. A lot of young voters turned out to vote and as I said, college kids and 20-somethings aren’t invested enough to vote for someone they agree with on the issues. Because they don’t care enough to know what the issues are and what the presidential candidates stand for. Obama was covered heavily by the drooling media and crammed down our throats and America loved every second of it.

So who is he really? He is a under qualified, hypersensitive, spineless, courage less, insensible, pompous, statist snob who is in way over his head.

Why is he under qualified? Well I wouldn’t consider 4 years in Illinois senate and 4 years in the U.S. senate doesn’t exactly qualify for the highest seat in all the land. Governors are more qualified than him. Out of the last 5 presidents, 4 were governors at one time. The only one that wasn’t was George H. W. Bush who had prior foreign policy experience by serving as director of the CIA, Ambassador to U.N. and Vice President under Reagan.

Having been a community organizers, civil rights lawyer and senator for four years does not make you qualified to be President.

Why is hypersensitive? Because he has been hailed as the messiah for so long that he isn’t used to being criticized. His supporters and advisors hang on his every word and kiss his feet as they lay down roses ahead of him as he walks. So what happens when someone speaks out against him? He singles them out by name and network affiliation and openly mocks them. No president that I can remember would was their time on such pettiness. He has more on his plate than Rosie O’Donnell with a tapeworm on thanksgiving. Yet he stoops to Olbermann levels by complaining and whining about everyone who is critical of his asinine policies. It’s of course impart to America eating out of the palm of his hand on the campaign trail, but I’m sure the sycophants in his inner circle kiss his bum like some kind of puppies wanting only to please their master. I imagine them fawning over his every word as if Christ himself were preaching the way to salvation.

"Bahhhh"

He is so thin-skinned that it’s sickening, what kind of President addresses his critics any chance he can? Such squabbles are beneath a man in such a high office. Give me a man-sized break over here.

Why is he spineless unt (that means ‘and’) courage less? He has spoken out several times against friend but never foe. Take Iran for example. During their obvious rigged elections and murder and arrest of outspoken opposition to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (aka midget aka Alphabet) Obama was silent. Not a word, not condemning the attacks, not condemning the elections, nothing.

“It’s true, I did steal that election and I would have gotten away with it if it was for you meddling kids” that’s a really bad joke and I’m sorry.

However, when sovereign nation and friend to America, Israel built settlements to house a growing Israeli population, BO was very vocal. Condemning the attacks from Jump Street, Obama had this to say:

“we continue to emphasize that America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements,”

If I was Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu I would tell BO “I don’t give a steaming hot damn what you recognize as legitimate.” Israel is surrounded on all sides by enemies and has very little friends in the world (what with the growing global anti-Semitism and all) and here some America who is supposed to be Israel’s greatest friend and what do they say? “We don’t want you building houses for your growing population”

But Iran’s radical leader straight steals an election, MURDERS protesters and what does the mighty messiah have to say? Oh yea, he says nothing. Why was BO silent? Because he is a frightened coward who wants to appease enemies while condemning friends. When Honduras’s communist, Chavez puppet “president” was overthrown, Obama spoke out against it.

I think I saw this guy in Dallas, notice the cowboy hat and obscenely black mustache.

He was overthrown because of his trying to abolish term limits, and his growing ties with communist leaders Hugo Chavez and Raul Castro. And him being overthrown “deeply concerned” Obama. Why? Because BO is afraid of Chavez. What else could it be? The man was shrinking freedoms in Honduras and he got removed from power. Why is that a bad thing?

“I am Hugo Chavez fascist leader of Venezuela. Stare in wonder at my obnoxious sash and giant, weird, silver star medallion.”

Why is he insensible? Following Ft Hoods tragedy, The White House was notified immediately about the tragic events. Instead of seeing a solemn President take to the podium to immediately address those lost, we saw a light-hearted clownsical (yea I made that word up) giving a “shout-out”.

Imagine those (such as I) who were following the news of the Ft Hood massacre and saw as the President took to the stage and immediately made remarks thanking his cabinet and then giving a shout-out. Imagine what Americans at home were thinking, here comes the President to speak about Ft Hood and he comes out and makes a light-hearted remark. After speaking about the conference and giving another empty promise, he suddenly shifts gears and talks about Ft Hood. Yet he spends more time talking about the investigation then he does acting as a sympathetic leader of a country. See for yourself:

How is he a pompous snob? Well I think his war with Fox news was proof enough as if he, Gibbs and Dunn were saying “how dare you speak out against me”. But I’m going to take it a step further by giving you health care reform as proof. Do you in all honesty believe that Obama wants healthcare free of charge because he cares so much about the poor? No way, it’s always been all about him and his legacy. Not President has passed universal health care before. That could be because it’s unconstitutional and socialist. But Obama is trying so hard to do so much in such a little amount of time because he wants to be remembered for how much good he has done. He wants to be touted as the first President to pass health care reform not because of his big heart, but because of his massive ego. Check out these bits from the e-mail he sent supporters after the health care vote in the house.

“Despite countless attempts over nearly a century, no chamber of Congress has ever before passed comprehensive health reform. This is history.”

TranslatVon- “Many people have tried for almost a century (a century equals 100 years for you folks that didn’t attend an elite college like Barack did) but they weren’t Barack fn Obama, you are witnessing history, Barack history.”

“Each “yes” vote was a brave stand”

TranslatVon- “Each ‘No’ vote was a bunch of haters who hate Americans and hate Barack (how is that possible?) And hate kittens and are stupid and Republicans and I hate them and their dumb Fox news”

“the old rules are changing — and the people will not be ignored.”

TranslatVon- “The rules are actually pretty much the same, but I like the word ‘change’…. The people will not be ignored if they agree with me, if they are the millions of tea party protestors and people who spoke up at town hall meetings I’m going to ignore those radical extremists.”

“Can you donate $25 or whatever you can afford so we can finish this fight?”

TranslatVon- “let me get your money, son”

“Please donate to Organizing for America’s campaign to win this fight and ensure that real health care reform reaches my desk by the end of this year.”

TranslatVon-“Seriously, let me get that money, any amount will help me cement my legacy as the most socialist president of all time. Only you can help make me a worse president than Jimmy “I hate Jews” Carter.”

I think you are catching my point. Obama is nothing more than a sniveling, whiney, frightened, pompous, obsequious (good word), out of touch, joker. He has harmed our relationship with friends while pushing statist agendas at a time when we need to increase America’s freedoms not destroy them. He is no were near qualified for the office he currently holds, he has shown no spine when dealing with our enemies. He has ignored the opinions of the American people, he has played nothing but partisan politics even though he promised there would be none. He has done more damage in less than a year than Clinton did in 4. He doesn’t represent us well in any fashion. While I feel all of this is true, he is still our President for at least another 3 years. Until then, I will be praying for a much needed and well deserved GOP resurgence.

Thanks for stopping by, make sure to comment and share your thoughts with me. A reply is guaranteed, until next time, good day.

Love,

I happen to belong to a church whose pastor was involved in a sex scandal spectacularly enough to wa

I happen to belong to a church whose pastor was involved in a sex scandal spectacularly enough to warrant media attention. The news reports seem factual and fair and don’t seem to be motivated by an agenda or venom. Our pastor – and the church by association – is being judged by the standards we claim and that’s reasonable. The part that is hard is the section at the end of the online version of the newspaper where people can respond to the article. Specifically, I’m having a hard time with the number of comments that say those of us who belong to the church should all “drink the kool aid” (in reference to the suicide method used by the members of Jim Jones’ cult). The idea that there are those in my own community that feel the world would be better off if Iwas dead is a bitter pill to swallow and even more painful than being the last one picked for dodge ball. It’s tempting to slip away from my church and brush off the “idiot by association” sign that seems to be hanging around our necks. It would be nice if I could just dismiss those commentators as mean people but it seems that God sometimes feels the same way. There’s a few instances in Scripture where it seems like God strongly considered getting rid of the current crop of humans and starting over from scratch (Noah and the flood, the Israelites in the wilderness, etc.).

Sometimes I think God sees those “Lord save me from your followers” bumper stickers and He understands the sentiment completely. I always hated those “Christians aren’t perfect – just forgiven” bumper stickers. The more accurate statement would take a huge bumper or maybe a whole snow blade but it would say, “Christians are perfect…perfectly stupid and perfect jerks sometimes. If it weren’t for God, there’d be no hope at all. Come back in 10 years; if I’m less of a jerk then recognize it for the miracle it is. If you’re a jerk – there may be hope but it’ll take a lifetime and the power of Someone much greater than yourself to make a change.” What it lacks in clever wordplay, it makes up for in accuracy.

If you think you have a solution to the problems with humanity, you may be interested to know some of the approaches God has tried through the years:

1. In the Beginning (Start with Genesis 1:1) God made a beautiful world that provided everything human beings could possibly need. We were well fed, naked, and without shame. There was only one rule and it only forbid us from the fruit of one tree….that’s it. Simple, right? Nope – we blew it right away.

2. Hard times bring out the best in people, right? Nope. Things got harder after we got ourselves kicked out of the Garden. It didn’t build character….we are what we are. So God spelled everything out with straight-forward instructions (found in the whole Bible but really spelled out in Exodus and Leviticus) about what we should not do, “Don’t eat roadkill, don’t kill people, don’t steal things, don’t poop in the camp, etc. etc.” He explained the things we’d need to know to live in peace with one another and in peace with God. We’re pretty smart, right? Having it all laid out logically should be enough to keep us from messing up, right? Nope again. We couldn’t even follow fairly obvious rules like, “Don’t throw your children into fires in order to get some stupid ‘god’ you made with your own hands to do something for you…duh!”

God has also taken a very empathetic approach. He came to live among us in human form. He was born like us and lived among us and was known as Jesus. He was fully man but so, so much more. He could command the storms to stop, turn water to wine, walk on water, and heal the diseases that afflicted us. He told us how to live: “Love your neighbor / forgive one another, etc.” and -because we are so dumb sometimes – He was killed by us. Because He wasn’t merely a man, He didn’t stay dead – he rose from the grave and continued to walk the earth until He went up to heaven on His own schedule. He dealt with reality: human failings, disease, arrogance, etc. and He told us straight out that we were never going to get it right on our own. We need God’s forgiveness and we need God to change us from people who always get it wrong to people who can get it right. We just needed to come to grips with this reality and ask Him to begin the repair process. Then we need to commit to sticking with God’s work in our lives because it’s a short road back to the land of the stupid and arrogant. Let me tell you, there are some deep ruts in that well-travelled road.

This is where I fall into the plans to redeem the human situation. At times I have amazing clarity into my own condition and know that, without God’s active work in my life, I’m going to mess things up. When I remember that, it goes okay for awhile. Then I start thinking I’ve got it all figured out and – WHAM! - there I am, falling on my butt again. I use my circumstances act as an excuse for my selfishness. I know I’m precious in the sight of God and that’s fine right up until the moment I forget that you too are precious in His sight. I’m not “more precious-er” than you. It’s no wonder those looking on might want me to “drink the kool aid”. I have only excuses – no good reasons for letting others down. And I’m sorry for blowing it…well, sometimes I’m not but God is doing something in me and He makes me want to be the kind of person who at least knows enough to be sorry for messing up.

Check back in 10 years. It’ll take a miracle but please let me know if you see any progress.

I’m not wearing a tie.

OOOOOHHHH YEEAAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

That’s right, ladies! It’s “Aggressive Thursday” and I’ve got no motherfucking tie on! I’m rocking no tie! This dog’s got no leash! This car’s got no breaks! This prisoner’s got no shackles! This something that is usually loosely bound by some form of restraint is now not wearing that restraint which is a metaphor that in reality is just a piece of colorful matching silk that is worn around the neck…. FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!

I’m actually a little sad that I’m not wearing tie. Here are the four following reasons why I don’t like that I’m not wearing a tie:

1. Mork

I’m going to write the next paragraph in a Masonic code I learned from Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. I hope everyone will be able to follow it because it is very elaborate and complicated.

I write this blog and I don’t know if you have noticed, but I don’t get paid for it. That is where “mork” comes in. Like most of you, I have a real yob in the real world and my yob is what pays me so I can live. I write this blog at my yob everyone morning seemingly when I should be morking. Nevertheless, I’m good at my yob and still get my mork done, usually. Anyway, recently there has been a lot of turmoil going on at mork. I don’t completely want to tell you who I mork for because one of you may end up becoming vengeful for me stopping this blog and if I’m still morking for this yob then you’ll just call up the company and tell them to fire me because all I do is write about Lirsten Lewart and her twanting tit.

So, the company I mork for is under schnew schmanagement. They do not wear suits. My previous schmanagement made us wear suits everyday at mork. A lot of people are still wearing suits at mork today and I’ve already seen a couple wearing ties. I’m still wearing the rest of the suit, but I feel like I’ve sold out a little to the new kibosses and schmanagement with the no tie. Also I have no khaki pants and regular button up shirts to dress worporate wasual, so I have to wear a suit unless sweatpants become acceptable.

2. Pajamas

I don’t own/wear pajamas. By pajamas, I don’t mean sweatpants and a t-shirt or whatever. I mean the man pajamas or manajamas that pretty much look like you are just wearing a dress shirt and dress pants, but they’re made of the exact same material. I’ve never worn those and I couldn’t imagine wearing those. But when I don’t wear a tie with a suit, I feel like I’m wearing manajamas pretty much. So I feel real weird right now.

3. Sternal Head

I’m showing a lot of sternal head right now. I can’t find and I’m going to stop looking. because I have so mork for my yob I need to do, the term for the area of skin that covers the sternal head. Either way, it is completely out there and I’m not into it. I like to keep my sternal head covered and feels weird having it graphically nude at the moment. I wear wife beater undershirts which provide no cover for my sternal head. Is there a draft in here!?! My sternal head is freezing! My sternal head is so sensitive to the cold. I really need something to keep my sternal head warm. Some would say, “why don’t you just button the top button of your shirt?” And those people would be idiots. I can’t button the top button of my shirt with no tie! I would look like some crazy person! Nothing is more of a red flag for social awkwardness than a guy buttoning the top button of his shirt with no tie.

That is unless you only have the top button buttoned and the rest is unbuttoned. At this point everyone will know you are either a member of the Latin Kings or in another Hispanic gang that rivals the Latin Kings. Or at least you are throwing it out there that you are willing to join one of those gangs.

4. I own a ton of ties

Like 30 ties! What are they going to do? Just stay locked in my closet and appreciate with age!?! They’re not wine or a sex slave.

James Cameron + Kristen Stewart

So as I keep pulling up my shirt to shield my white, baby soft skin that covers my sternal head from those uncomfortably longing and sensual stares I keep receiving, I have been thinking a lot about James Cameron recently. They have recently started airing a lot of TV spots for his forthcoming action epic Avatar. I’m definitely seeing it and I’m definitely planning on seeing it opening day. But I’m not really sold on the movie. It looks cool, but it also looks so much like a whole bunch of other stuff. For the most part it looks like it will be the greatest videogame movie adaptation for a game that does not exist. They are actually making a videogame based on the movie, which will probably suck.

James Cameron is an amazing director. There is no way the movie will be bad considering it is going to be a lot of alien jungle fights versus machine gunning robots. That is phenomenal as is, but will it live up to the hype is the question. Regardless, what if the movie had a certain actress in it? What if Kristen Stewart was in Avatar? How would that change the outcome of the movie? Also, what if Kristen Stewart was in all of James Cameron’s movies? How would the presence of the sprightly teen Queen of wanting it affect the conclusions of James Cameron’s much heralded films?

Terminator

I’m assuming Kristen is a good guy in the movie. I feel like that is a safe assumption because she is so cute and likeable in real life and because God would never allow her to be portrayed to the world as a bad guy because she is God’s vessel of want. Also, the bad guy in the movie is a robot and I have already discussed how I do not believe it is possible for man to create a robot or clone of Kristen Stewart that would be able to emit the same want. As a good guy, I think Kristen could arguably replace Bess Motta as Linda Hamilton’s friend Ginger and/or she could be Michael Biehn’s tandem time traveling terminator tussling teammate.

We all remember that the Terminator shows up to Sarah and Ginger’s apartment looking for Sarah. Sarah is not there. Ginger is there with her big swinging ahem boyfriend Matt played by Rick Rossovich who everyone knows best as the Ice Man’s co-pilot, Slider, in Top Gun. I love Top Gun. The Terminator comes in and beats the piss out of Matt then kills him and kills Ginger. What if Kristen Stewart was Ginger? Well I would imagine Kristen would be wanting it on all cylinders with a half naked Slider running around her apartment. I think the Terminator would kick down the door and be first met Kristen. The amount of want pouring out of her would be way too much for a robot, even from the future, to process. He would be flooded with so much want that his circuits would become wildly over heated and burst into flames.

The Terminator now engulfed in an internal electrical fired caused by a slim 19 year old who wants it so bad, he would promptly throw himself out the window in an effort to kill himself before the flames eat him from the inside. The fall doesn’t kill him, so he lays in agony until the fire finally consumes him. Then Slider would come out of the shower from the noise and look at Kristen and ask what happened. She would shrug “nothing that hasn’t happened a 100 times before, dude.”

If she was Kyle Reese’s assistant, the two of them would actively search out the Terminator. I would imagine that in a future of endless war we would have trained Kristen to use her want like an ion cannon. When they found the Terminator, Reese would whisper the Kristen Stewart go code “pumpernickel” and then dive out of the way. She would fire off a want blast that would explode like a Hydrogen bomb on Arnold, thus ending the movie maybe 10 minutes in.

Aliens

Most of Aliens is crazy ass explosions anyway, so there is a chance that Kristen Stewart wouldn’t need to use her want it powers. Plus I don’t think it is safe to send Kristen Stewart in space. I’m just a doctor and just an amateur scientist, but there are a lot of weird things people in space cannot do. I feel like Kristen Stewart’s want would be a liability on a spaceship. This is just a theory, I think Kristen Stewart radiates so much want that it would cause too much strain on the fragile spaceship structure that there would be too high of a chance of mishap. So I don’t think Kristen should be up in space no matter if she is up there to fight aliens or not.

Kristen and the planet Earth would be much better served if she was paid to keep watch on sky for aggressive alien space craft trying to enter the Earth’s atmosphere. If she sees one then she has carte blanche to zap them out of the air like she’s a human death star of want.

The Abyss

I like The Abyss now. When I was a kid I was scared by it for some reason. What a pussy, right? I really don’t know why I was scared by it. I must’ve watched it a bunch of times when I was kid even though it did scared me. Anyway, this movie wouldn’t even exist if Kristen Stewart was in it. If there were aliens that lived at the bottom of the ocean floor and Kristen Stewart and her want were around, they would leave this planet. Aliens can sense her immense want even at the bottom depths of the ocean. Soon as Ed Harris gets to the bottom of the ocean and chills with the aliens for a minute they leave. I think the aliens either would sense Kristen Stewart’s want and be scared to death of it and jet. Or they would surface, meet the beacon of want, be terrified of her power, and leave. So, K-Stew saves the day again and no deep sea drilling scientists have to die.

True Lies

I guess Kristen could replace Eliza Dushku as Arnold and Jamie Lee’s daughter. Does everyone know that Eliza Dushku is going out with Rick Fox? Does everyone know who Rick Fox is? More like does anyone know who Rick Fox is? Right? Cause you’re ladies and ladies don’t know athletes. I’m not sure if they are going out or not, but I saw a picture of the two of them together and it is so random to imagine the two of them being in a picture together at all that I have to assume the wildest and that they are going out. How on Earth did the two of them meet?

We all know that True Lies is perfect. Simply perfect. So I would want Kristen to just follow whatever the terrorists asked her to do like a good little hostage. I don’t want to her get involved because if she did then we wouldn’t have not only the amazing action of Arnold killing fools, but we would miss out on utterly flawless scenarios like Arnold on horseback, Arnold scaring Bill Paxton, Arnold and Tom Arnold’s hilarious dialogue exchanges, Jamie Lee Curtis stripping, the interrogation scene which Arnold should have at least won a Golden Globe for, Arnold piloting a harrier jet, and so on. I guess the only thing that could be added is after the whole movie plays out and the three of them (Arnold, Jamie and now Kristen) are on the bridge celebrating, a terrorist could pop up out of nowhere with an AK-47 poised to fire. Kristen would turn and want it and he would explode into bits.

That’s thee ole’ classic K-Stew 3 point blow ‘em up:

Step 1: Turn

Step 2: Want it

Step 3: Continue to want it until the target blows up like a bomb sending blood and guts every where.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

She’s a good guy in this one as well. The T-1000 was destroyed by molten hot liquid and the destruction of the remaining Terminator pieces. I’m starting to tear up saying this, but I don’t think there is anyway Arnold doesn’t die and give us the thumbs up in this scenario. WHY!?!?!?!?! OH JESUS!?!?! Why does he have to die so gracefully and beautifully? He’s just a robot, right? Why am I so emotionally attached? I think Kristen could easily handle the T-1000 with her want. She would keep him in a constant state of destruction. Kristen would let loose her heat beam want on the T-1000 melting him. I believe that he would try to form his liquid metal self to look like her thinking he could counteract her want, but fail. Meanwhile, Sarah, John and the Terminator would still have to get the original chip and Terminator hand from Dyson. Then as much as it pains me, Kristen would have melt Arnold, the chip and the hand with her want as well as the T-1000 to rid the world of the evils of Skynet. This one is sad.

Titanic

An iceberg? Are you kidding me? Kristen would want the shit out of that thing and melt it to an ice cube. She could stand at the bow of the boat just let the heat of her want go. She would be like a giant microwave warming the waters. Melting all the icebergs may cause severe flooding everywhere else in the world though. But who cares? Kristen is safe because she’s on a boat!

Avatar

Hmmm… well the aliens seem to turn out to be the good guys. But the “bad guys” are just misguided space marines. Kristen Stewart isn’t going to kill American soldiers. I think she could just enter the battle and shine her wanting it light until they are drawn to tears and humbled, both man and alien together.

But if those aliens turn out to be bad, Kristen Stewart will want it like an optic beam razor and decapitate those motherfuckers one by one.

Just think about James Cameron. The movie doesn’t come out for another 40 some odd days. You could do some re-shoots. Either way, you need to paint Kristen Stewart blue like the aliens just for the hell of it.

Also, if I had photoshop I would take a picture of Kristen and make her blue. I can’t do that in MS-Paint and make it look good. But I did this yesterday when I was bored at mork.

project 365 entry for Saturday June 6th, 2009
One year ago on June 3rd, 2008 a devastating tornado hit the little “town” that my oldest daughter lives in. Some lost their homes, they all received damage, but thankfully no one lost their life.
This town is more like a rural neighborhood. Most of the folks their have grown up together. It is where my son-in-law grew up. To remember the date (to be thankful to have survived) they decided to have a community event. They wanted to have yard sales all around. They had the idea of donating to the Salvation Army. Well, the sale didn’t go so well. But, I think most everyone in the area enjoyed the day & surely took some time to remember and be thankful.
My oldest daughter hysterically laughing. She will not like that I put this shot on here. But, I am thankful after that tornado to still have her here.. to hear her laugh, and to be able to take silly photos of her:
Besides with crazy neighbors like this, how can she not sit around cracking up:

The 2nd one was the man who lives behind her. One of my grandsons had thrown a superman on the roof. This guy preceded to stand up there & swing superman around and kept throwing it back down.
My grandson & a neighbor girl enjoying the day:
My youngest daughter & some of my grandkids decided they would try to sell Kool-aid. LOL
One of the little girls in the neighborhood at her family’s sale/ the 2nd one: Hey isn’t this what neighbors are suppose to be like.. shooting the breeze:
They ended the day with some of the neighbors getting together and playing some music. My son-in-law is the one playing bass (wearing the striped shirt).
Well…with a day like today, what can a girl do but laugh (my youngest grandchild):
Hope I made you smile. Until next time…

And I’m not afraid to admit it.

I just spent 30 bucks on yarn that I haven’t touched or seen before. But hey, at least I got a great deal on it! I’m always for a good justification!

I saw an ad on my Gmail that KnitPicks was having a massive sale. Naturally, I went ahead and checked it out, not really planning on finding anything but thought I could drool over the pretty-ness.

I found something…
A lot of something…

At 2.79 for 50 grams of yarn I could get Dougherty…

And Graham…

This was seriously a deal I couldn’t pass up regardless of if I should be spending that money or not… So I spent the money! I bought three skeins and both Graham and Dougherty and as soon as Dec 18 rolls around, I’ll be buying Beckett…

I then checked out the needles and found the sets to be a little pricey for my liking so I passed up on that… then I saw dying kits.

This is what prompted my want for dying the textiles. So I bought two hanks of Bare Superwash Merino Wool. I plan on doing the kool-aid dye-test and since I bought this wool for super cheap, I won’t feel that terrible if it’s completely effed up.

I’m fidgety in anticipation until these beauties come in the mail and I can start knitting.

In the mean time- it’s time for an orange and blue neckwarmer. Still undecided whether I should do multiple stripes or just two large stripes.

I have a new hobby. I LOVE dyeing my own yarn. I am having so much fun. I have dyed almost all the wool in my stash and am needing more yarn to dye. The only thing is deciding what to knit with small amounts of wool yarn. Humm???

Here are some of the skeins I have dyed recently:

This one was a dark gray color.

The gray in the middle was the original color. The green was going to be a dark blue and the dye looked blue on the spoon…

The original was the blue. The yarn didn’t suck the purple red dye up evenly so there are blue undertones.

All of the above are 100% wool for felting so the plan is to knit them up into a tote and felt it.

I am also doing some more Kool Aid dying but adding in other food safe methods (food coloring and Wilton’s gel frosting colors). This one is aiming for a “fall” look.

It was a bit too “pink lemonade” though, so it is in the dye pot cooling, but it seems to be more fall now. I will post more photos tomorrow.

Capstonians, just two years ago, Nick Saban was hired to bring the then-disappointing football team

Capstonians, just two years ago, Nick Saban was hired to bring the then-disappointing football team to their current championship caliber position. A climb to dominance, like the one we are currently witnessing, can happen quickly with a new and aggressive coaching staff, an enthusiastic fan base, and lots of money set aside for the athletic department.

But another Tide sports team is in a similar situation as the football team was two years ago. The only difference is the lesser degree of fervor. They almost resemble the National Hockey League in a sense that we know it exists but just need to be reminded of it.

Our men’s basketball team has underwhelmed the past few years, to say the least. Now the former coach, who deserves some credit for his successes, is gone, and a new legacy begins.

Earlier this year, Athletic Director Mal Moore hired Anthony Grant to lead our team into the Promised Land.

Followers of college basketball should have lost their minds in the most positive connotation on hearing the news. Everyone else probably wondered why we put our faith in a man with two first names. I’m looking at you John Kerry.

As an assistant coach at the University of Florida, Grant achieved something the University of Alabama men’s basketball team has never quite grasped – a national championship.

From there, he coached at Virginia Commonwealth University, not to be mistaken for a school you actually know.

He helped the VCU Rams dominate the Colonial Athletic Association for three years, winning it twice. Thus, in those two years, they qualified for the Big Dance (the nickname for the NCAA Basketball Tournament, not the dance competition in “Saturday Night Fever”).

One of those years, they knocked off the evil empire that is the Duke Blue Devils in the first round. This fact alone should help sell Grant to students.

Grant’s VCU team succeeded using an up-tempo style of basketball, which he has implemented here at the Capstone. Remember the Mike Anderson years at UAB and Anderson’s recent success at the University of Missouri? Yes, it will be something like that. Commence salivating.

Alabama’s main weakness the past years rested in the fact that the team lacked any style or scheme. Now we can electrify the Coleman Coliseum, which I assume will count as a renewable energy source and help power the new Jumbotron.

The chance of seeing a team turn itself around doesn’t happen often, just ask any of the few Pittsburgh Pirates fans left.

We here at Alabama are already experiencing one such feat with Saban and the football team, and now we can watch our basketball team grow in prosperity and height.

The student section has undergone changes as well. Mark’s Madness will probably become Crimson Chaos, even though it should be Coleman Chaos to relate more with basketball. This is where the students come in.

The team can’t succeed alone, so we need this student section to “Bring the Noise” on a nightly basis and become the opposing team’s Public Enemy.

It may take a few years for Grant and company to hit their stride, but we need to cheer them on the entire way.

Obviously, I have already sipped the Anthony Grant Kool-Aid (sugar-intense strawberry flavored, if you were wondering). Can you blame me though? He can only improve our over-shadowed and historically non-competitive program.

On November fourth, we can watch the start of a new and exciting transformation.

Students, we are the Renee Zellweger in “Jerry Maguire” while the basketball team is Tom Cruise (no offense meant). We complete them.

Anthony Grant, you shouldn’t need to say anything. You had us at “Roll Tide.”

Oh…. My…. God….

It sounds like an amazing idea! I even have a tutorial on how to do this! I’m fully intending on going first to Joann Fabrics for some ‘bare yarn’ and then to the grocery store for some un-sweetened Kool Aid in random colors… Then to the other side of the store for a few Mason jars (as well as the 10 other items I’ll need from the store like Shampoo…) and then it’s home to get dying!

It’s so simple it can be done in the microwave! All you have to do is lightly wash up the yarn with a mild soap (most people use laundry detergent)/soak it while you’re getting the dye together.

The dye is comprised of large mason jars, two packets of un-sweetened koolaid and water. At this point, your water does not need to be hot. Put in the yarn and cover it sufficiently with water. (Try not to do more than 50 grams, or 86 yards of yarn at a time or you might not end up with very vibrant colors)

Now it’s time to get the color magic working! Put your yarn/water dish into the microwave and power up for two minutes. Then let it rest for a few minutes then heat it up again for two minutes. Do this until the dye is saturated into the yarn and your liquid is almost clear-as-water again.

THEN! Let the yarn sit in the jar and cool off. Then go ahead and rinse it thoroughly in water the same temperature as the yarn. Finally, wash the yarn in mild soap, rinse again, and let dry.

Be very careful with this form of dying though- because your yarn is neither in a ball nor in hank-form, you run the risk of MASSIVE knots in your knitting so be wary of how you pull the wet yarn out of your jar.

I’ll upload pictures of my dying extravaganza later this week!
