An update on the Kopila Valley School Classroom Construction Project.

One of the reasons the framing is going so quickly is the use of our new Stanley handsaw flown in this fall by Amy and Ben.  The drilling of all those bolt holes has been made possible by our new Dewalt Charger for our cordless drill batteries generously donated by Renee of Stanley Black & Decker.  The workers are overjoyed at the speed the new tools provide.

For Thanksgiving this year the staff thought it would be good for each of the kids to take a moment to sit down and think about what they were thankful for. We were shocked at what some of them came up with. We live in a house full of 40 creative children! We feel so blessed to have each and everyone of them.
We all (even Uncle Ed sings “Baby” once in a while.) share a love for Justin Bieber so we thought the song was appropriate for our slide show. Enjoy!

]]> <![CDATA[We really are working...honest!]]> http://beingbiginnepal.wordpress.com/2011/11/03/we-really-are-working-honest/ Thu, 03 Nov 2011 21:31:29 +0000 Being Big in Nepal http://beingbiginnepal.wordpress.com/2011/11/03/we-really-are-working-honest/ Just in case you think all we do is fun and games…we have been working so hard this week, neither of us had time to (V)blog.  The start of school is rapidly approaching so we are both helping get things ready at Kopila Valley School.  Julia took both student and teacher photos, and got them into town to be printed.  With little Madan’s help today, I was able to finish adjusting all the classroom doors and latches to be sure they would open and close smoothly.  Earlier this week, Buhkta and I made a projection screen out of a used piece of canvas and stretched it onto the resource room wall.  Julia marked and handed out two new Kopila Valley Tee shirts to each of the kids in the home.  You can expect to start seeing them in photos soon.  Here are a few short Kopila Kids Vids to prove everyone is working.

Remember Oct 27th’s post on hauling bricks?  Here is the result of about 1 week’s hard work by caring KVCH staff and contractors.

Madan and I needed power for our drill as we adjusted the classroom doors at the school.

We all do a bit of “doctoring” here in Nepal.  No matter how small we are, a torn toenail never stops anyone from being a Cute Kopila Kid, especially Namraj!

p.s. Please wish Maggie safe journey as she is off to a board meeting and resupply trip.  We can’t wait until she gets back from Costco and Home Depot!
