But don’t worry, Ayumu is an accomplished dancer (well, except for that time when he met Eu-chan for the first time) who can teach them step-by-step and dance like a star.

And yet, they failed to listen to Ayumu’s dance steps and decided to dance the old-fashioned way.

Man, I can’t bear… to watch this… deadly… dance… routine! *faints*

Anyway, today’s guest voice actress is Kimiko Koyama. You probably know her as Majorica from Ookami-san and Carina from Shukufuku no Campanella.

And yes, the Delusion Eu-chan Army is growing! I wonder if they would include those Eu-chans from Season 1…

Masih dengan alur yang sama. Karena saya belum selesai nonton yang season 1 (gomennasai.. u.u) saya belum tau apakah episode ini ada kaitan cerita sama season sebelumnya. Ok, fine, whatever.

Speaking of good though Sankarea is really good so far and i have only seen 2 of the episodes.

Damn, I think I love this series more than I realize it. While waiting for the subs to be released yesterday, I went ahead and watched the raw version. After what was a Tomonori-centric episode essentially, I proceeded to watch episodes 7 and 8 of S1 just to remind myself why Tomonori is the best female character in Zombie.

One good thing after watching the raw is that I realized that the dialogue here is much easier to understand than I thought. I still opted to wait for the subs before getting started on this. (While getting sidetracked and distracted in the process)

Jumping into the episode, I was wrong when I said last week that Ayumu will somehow wriggle his way out of the mess he made in the previous episode. Mystletainn still remains broken, Ayumu lands up at the police station for his antics in school dressed up in his birthday suit. Sera also knows how to kick a man; in this case a zombie and a masou shoujo when he is down. What a kusho mushi.

I’m not sure if some sorcery was involved, but apparently cross-dressing as a masou shoujo has a became the next big thing. Ayumu practically ended up from zero to hero in that instant. Gaia sure pulled a huge joke on the whole scandal candle affair, as Yousei-san would put it.

Jokes aside, it is time to be semi-serious. The internet and social media can be a double-edged sword. So guys and gals, beware of what you do out there, because stuff can spread around the world faster than you can say NOOOO!! Also, don’t tell a guy that his legs are pretty.

The highlight and focus of this episode though, definitely belonged to Tomonori. I kinda wished that the rest of the harem didn’t tag along but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the whole star gazing trip, which was awesome on so many levels. My top 3 favourite moments are:

1. Tomonori going dere. Tomonori is like 10% tsun and 90% dere, Sera is the exact polar opposite. I can’t explain this one any further because every time I try to, my brain just melts. HNNNNNGHHHHH! (Note the violin playing in the background when the two finally get a moment together)
2. Boys, be ambitious! Ayumu barrier! “Desu yo ne!”
3. The meteor rain scene along with the insert song. Oh gosh, that was so masterfully done. This proves that this series can transition from comedy to a more sombre mood almost seamlessly. I want to see such a sight within my life time..*sniffs*

Not to forget, there is also Sarasvati, the newest addition to the harem. Why she fell in love with Ayumu for his ass is something beyond my realm of understanding, Though I’m interested to see her interact with the rest of the cast since she seems to be operating alone at the moment. I also suspect she is 99% tsun and 1% dere, please let me be wrong! Definitely could use more of “My (insert X word here) darling” lines.

What makes Zombie even better, is the fact that there is still plot, aka something happening behind all the fun and laughter. Yousei-san for now seems harmless, but she absolutely has a bigger role to play than just being a comedy relief. Kyoko and Dai-sensei also make a return. Something is brewing..

Other random thoughts:

• Yes! It seems like the delusional vs real Eu omake is here to stay every week! The contrasting interaction between the fake and the real makes that segment really cute to watch. More lines from the original Eu can’t hurt can it? This week’s delusional Eu B is voiced by Minami Omi.
• The meteor rain scene really reminded me of Bakemonogatari ep..11? The episode where Araragi  and Senjougahara went star gazing together. That was my favourite episode in that whole series.
• Good bye to the yesterday me. Hello to the new me..And farewell to the new me.
  
• If I could I would have just made the entire gallery various shots of dere Tomonori because I deleted so many of them I-I didn’t do it for you or anything like that! I-It’s for the sake of variety! Yes for variety!
• Top 3 series at the moment goes to F/Z, Zombie and TOxA.

You broke Mystletainn and you’ll pay with shame, Ayumu… This costs your dignity and your friendship with Orito!

And one more thing, Saras is digging on your booty!

Oh, I got an idea. Why not accept Tomonori Yuki’s offer and go hiking along with her!

But despite all the bee-running and bear-swatting (not so lucky for Ayumu), at least they finally made it on their destination…

Uh, I don’t think the new Ayumu would not stand the humiliation when he’s the talk of the town for his crossdressing, chainsaw-wielding cosplay from last week’s episode.

And BTW, this episode not only has Kikuko Inoue from last week’s episode, but they added Omi Minami in the mix?

So that means KoreZom will have a Delusion Eu-chan Army? Oh shit, we’re gonna be conquered by moe!!!

Spring 2012 (10 episodes) (title literal translation – Is this a Zombie? of the Dead) (more info)

And so begins Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead, the second season of a series that I thought already did everything it needed to the first time.  Ayumu, the zombie who is so alive you’d swear he’s just a normal human, is still living with a nice variety of three young women and his latent masou-shoujo powers continue to be sought after by Megalo monsters dressed in gakuran.  What more could be added to this ecchi comedy series definitely hasn’t been made clear in the first episode—other than Ayumu is going to have a much harder time feigning normalcy than he was able to during the first season.  Given the title animation, it looks like old enemy Kyoko is back for round two and she’s just as crazy as before.  Other than that, it seems Kore wa Zombie 2 is going to just sort of do its own thing—following on in the first season’s wacky, ecchi formula of oddly combined character archetypes that manage to be cool in a very nonchalant manner.  I’m not optimistic the second season will compare favorably with the first (few sequels do) but I’m ready to see where Ayumu’s new misadventures lead him.

Foreword:
I was writing halfway when I decided to scratch writing summaries because they just don’t cut it anymore. So instead I chose to list down points that made this episode funny. I would say that watching season one isn’t mandatory to understand what is going on, but to fully appreciate the jokes and humour involved I’d certainly recommend giving season 1 a watch.

• Ayumu (Majima Junji) gives a little speech on having hidden secrets in this world and being a chosen one to uncovering such secrets, before taking too much damage from being under the sun. “Hanasoka, kakoii” “Aikawa, kakko warui” (word play).
• Mistaking Yousei-san (Nabatame Hitomi) for a ghost, they make fun of that, only that they are no better themselves, they being a vampire ninja Seraphim (Hikasa Youko buchou!) who is all tsun and no dere; her insults never fail to amuse me, prodigy masou shoujo Haruna (Nomizu Iori Nymph!) who still thinks she’s a genius, necromancer Eu (Tsukimiya Midori) who doesn’t speak and the zombie man himself.
• Ayumu’s delusion. (yes they are back! With a different seiyuu every week too hopefully)
• Tomonori (Kanemoto Hisako); my favourite girl in this series, rejecting Orito’s (Yoshino Hiroyuki) advances.
• Tamagoyaki/fried eggs. (That being the only thing Haruna can cook yet she is SOO GOOD at it, refer to S1)
• Evening time – “Aren’t you leaving yet?” “I like this time of the day.” “Actually I just don’t want to walk in the sunlight.”
• VOMITING RAINBOWS and GETTING DRUNK OFF WATER!
• “Everyone, don’t say weird things, that can’t be Aikawa-kun” “Actually yes it is me” “Noooooooo“
• Squid megalo being gay and Ayumu making “strange” noises.
• Nomobio Oshi Ashitawa Dokeda Gummicha Temibura! Ayumu’s transformation scene with added sound effects and camera phones flashing, exactly mirroring season 1 “desu yo ne?” Also 1000% cuter now!
• Good ole Mystletainn kick! “That’s not a kick!”
• Poor Hiramatsu (Yamaguchi Rie), that must be traumatizing.
• Mystletainn-sensei breaking down.
• New harem member Sarasvati (Gouda Aya) get!

First Impressions:
Damn, it has been more than a year since season 1 aired (Jan’11), watching this episode made me felt nostalgic and I recalled exactly what made this series such an enjoyable watch. Even the caps were hard to choose.

While the jokes in this series as a whole aren’t the type that makes me burst out laughing, I find that the humour involved usually connects well with me and thus I’m able to appreciate them.

Delusional Eu (Inoue Kikuko) is definitely one of the main running highlights in KWZDK, in fact, actual Eu spoke this week in an omake! Yes! Finally the viewers didn’t have to wait 12 weeks just to hear her speak. Please keep this omake section up every week! Also in this week, puking rainbows, a meme got animated in possibly the moe-est way possible.

My favourite gag though has to be the breaking down of Mystletainn, I’ll admit something, I cheated and skimmed through episodes 1 and 2 of S1 just to find the similarities and whether the whole memory erasure thing was real. I was surprised though, both opening episodes were really similar when compared side-to-side. But what happens now that this time round it failed? I’m sure the writers will have something to pull out of their hat in regards to that though.

Now, for actual judgment objective views. The main strengths of Zombie does not lie in animation, though strictly in comparison to S1 (while I cheated) I really see a notable improvement, however the various facial expressions can be funny to look at. The seiyuu cast here is exceptionally strong, with extra props given to Ayumu’s seiyuu for making those “weird” noises and anti-climatic moments. It can be a turn-off for some but don’t take it seriously and it becomes amusing. Music themes make a return from S1 too which is a small plus. The OP and ED both received a buff in terms of animation, especially the ED, watch it if you have tendencies to skip the animation and just listen to the music like me.

To my main point, more than a year ago, Zombie was not even on my to-watch list nor on my radar. However this was one of the rare cases where I read a first impression post and actually liked what I see. I decided to give it a watch and never looked back. As the story progressed. A show that is thought to be the usual generic fan-service, harem, comedy is actually something more than that, in a sense it can be dark, grim and serious while maintaining the harem-esque aspects as well. This is what makes the show truly shine and also why it is severely underrated when it first aired.

My verdict is that right now I’m calling it; albeit prematurely; the comedy series of this season. (Mainly because there isn’t any strong comedy series either). I’ll continue coverage of this series, and try to use another writing style next time.

Quick Impression: Seeing this anime back is pretty good. I can’t clearly remember if last season had more ecchi-moments but this episode sure didn’t have much of them, it’s good. I’m pretty interested at how the story will proceed with no specific flow of the story given except for the interesting OP which showed a number of (probably) new characters. Despite with the “of the Dead Episode” moniker, it’s not relate to “Highschool of the Dead” just because Ayumu is a zombie.

And in addition, he’s also a Masou Shoujo. Don’t ask any more!

Since KoreZom is back in action, how about a delusion Eu-chan voiced by the “eternal 17″ Kikuko Inoue!

I wonder what’s next? Megumi Hayashibara, Megumi Ogata, Aya Hisakawa, or maybe Yukari Tamura?

So anyway, I think KoreZom of the Dead will have more surprises awaiting for future episodes!
