A Romance of Their Own 늑대의 유혹 Neukdaeui Yuhok <also known as Temptation of Wolves / A Wolf’s Temptation / Lure of The Wolf / True Romance) is a 2004 South Korean film directed by Kim Tae-gyun, and based on a novel of the same name by Internet author Guiyeoni. Starring Jo Han-sun, Kang Dong-won and Lee Chung-ah.

Han-kyung <Lee Chung Ah>, a country bumpkin in every aspect, moves to Gangsin High school in Seoul to live with her mother. However her Seoul life is full of psychological and physical shocks. Someone throws his slipper at her head while riding the bus. But the problem does not end there. Ban Hye-won <Jo Han Sun>, the boy who threw the slipper, is no ordinary guy but the most popular hunk in the neighborhood. He takes fancy at Han-kyung’s bewildered but cute ways and pursues her aggressively.

At first, I thought that it’s a thriller/horror movie cuz the subtitle says A Wolf’s Temptation. When I watched the earlier scenes , I found the characters familiar. I’ve watched their other movies..!! Haha. Like I saw Lee Chung Ah in My Tutor Friend 2 and her series Let’s Go To The Beach. Then Jo Han Sun in hi series April Kiss and movie Now and Forever. Then Kang Dong Won of 1% of Anything.. Haha.

The story of the movie focuses on the rivalry between Hae-won and Tae-sung for Han-kyung’s heart. With pride and love at stake, they intensify their efforts to woo her, and she finds it extremely difficult to choose between them.

A bittersweet romance to warm the hearts and tears of all that watch it. The screenplay’s very witty and highly entertaining. A much better movie then “He was cool” by the same author. The characters well-casted, with some simple but sweet moments that is refined by the cinematography (fight scene in the beginning) gives an added sense into the characters.
I really love this movie, watched it tons of times already.. though there were a slight “incest” factor.. Haha. I still love it. This movie made me realize how much I love Han sun… Lol.! This movie is really for the “hopeless romantics” but has a bit for everyone, credible fight scenes, comedy and romance.

Korean Movie

Mungkin udah sekitar 4 tahun belakangan  ini, saya masuk ke membernya Korean Movie Lovers ga tau kenapa bisa begitu hehe…awalnya saya sempat ngatain ibu saya yang tergila-gila film seri Korea di TV, abis koq kayanya berisik banget gitu kedengarannya…tapi, trus ga sengaja saya ikutan nonton…ehh…malah jadi keranjingan beli CDnya soalnya ga sabar nunggu serialnya di TV hehehe….Nahh…biarpun basi baru ngomongin sekarang, tapi buat yang belum nonton film-film Korea coba deh..nonton…pasti suka   Ga tau kenapa ya..film-film Korea tuh banyak kasih inspirasi dan motivasi buat saya, kayaknya kalo abis nonton, bawaannya jadi semangat gitu ehehe…

Sebenarnya kalo dari hasil pengamatan saya selama ini, film-film Korea plotnya tuh gampang dibaca loh…inti ceritanya juga sederhana, tapi mungkin karena yang main dan directornya bagus ya jadi bikin filmnya enak untuk ditonton….biasanya selalu ada perbedaan derajat, percintaan, kemarahan, kesedihan dan yang paling saya suka…fighting spiritnya itu loh…seru! alurnya ceritanya biasanya…seneng, sedih, terpuruk tapi trus happy ending tapi ada juga sih yang sad ending..khusus buat yang sad ending, kaya A Millionaire’s first love, Sarangin…..biasanya saya suka ikutan nangis bombay kalo nonton….soalnya adegannya n backsound-nya tuh..sering menyentuh jiwa hihihi…

Chun Hyang

Tapi berhubung kayaknya ga mungkin kalo saya review satu-satu semua film yang udh pernah saya tonton…saya cerita film-film Korea yang saya tonton lebih dari 2 kali aja yaa eiya..walaupun sukaa banget sama film korea, sampai hari ini saya masih ga inget nama-nama pemain film Korea, soalnya susah dilafalin sihh ;p mungkin nanti kalo udah lulus belajar bahasa Korea, saya baru pede deh buat nyebut nama Korea hehehe..

Yang  pertama Sassy Girl,…Chun Hyang, anak perempuan kelas 3 SMA yang tinggal sama ibunya di kota kecil (maaf lupa nama kotanya), cantik, pintar di sekolah dan bisa cari uang sendiri. Ga sengaja  ketemu dan harus menikah dengan Mong Riong, anak  komandan polisi, kaya tadinya tinggal kota besar (Seoul), bandel dan manja. Banyak  banget kejadian lucu dan mengharukan.  Singkat cerita  mereka harus berpisah, Chun Hyang yang pintar terpaksa harus merelakan diri ga kuliah karena ga punya uang dan menjauh dari Mong Riong.  Sementara, karena patah hati ditinggal Chun Hyang, Mong Riong malah bertekad menyelesaikan kuliah dan menjadi polisi yang berprestasi. Tanpa sengaja mereka dipertemukan kembali, walaupun awalnya masih pura-pura ga peduli satu sama lain, tapi akhirnya mereka menikah juga   ceritanya sederhana, tapi setting dan lokasi filmnya bagus, belum lagi akting para pemain yang natural dan scoring-nya  itu  loh…pas banget sama adegan yang ada..jadi bikin ceritanya jadi makin asik dilihat.

Princess Hours

Abis  itu…ada Princess Hour, inti cerita hampir sama…tapi kalo yang ini berlatar belakang kehidupan istana baju-baju yang dipake keren banget…ceritanya sendiri tetep seru, tetep bikin ketawa, n tetep bisa bikin keluar air mata juga hehe….

Ada lagi Jang geum, Love Chef..yang bikin saya semangat belajar masak terutama Jang geum..sebagai penganut makanan sehat, saya banyak terinspirasi bikin resep yang sehat dari film itu.

Apalagi ya…oiya Full House, little Bride, Cofee Princess, juga seru kocak tapi bisa bikin terharu juga hehehe…trus Princess Lulu, Lover in Paris…sama-sama romantic komedi, pemain perempuannya sama tapi karakternya beda 180 derajat, di Princess Lulu, dia jadi anak orang kaya yang dimanjain…sementara di Lover in Paris dia jadi mahasiswa miskin yang musti kerja sambilan jadi pekerja di rumah orang kaya.

Koreans Movie

18 vs 28 lebih kocak lagi…nyeritain cewe’ eksekutif  yang lagi punya masalah dan udah hampir bercerai sama  suaminya, waktu mau ke pengadilan, mobilnya ketabrak…tapi untungnya dia selamat dan ga luka berat, tapi…amnesia..dan ingetnya dia masih kelas 2 sma..nah dari situ ceritanya mulai ngalir…kocak, seru dan tetap mengaharukan…endingnya mereka malah punya anak dan ga jadi bercerai.

Sebenarnya masih banyak lagi sih, film yang saya suka..tapi saya lupa judulnya :p biasanya saya suka nonton film Korea, kalo lagi bete, boring, butuh semangat baru n lagi nyari inspirasi

Oiya..memang film-film Korea yang saya suka genrenya banyakan romantic comedy, tapi kalau suka suspend, action atau horor.. atau mungkin indi film,  banyak juga yang bagus loh…terakhir saya lihat Tsumani…hiii serem..tapi visual effect-nya oke, film horornya mirip-mirip film horor Jepang…sama-sama ngagetin n bikin deg-deg-an…makanya saya ga terlalu suka..bikin sport jantung sehat aja hehe…

So…buat yang hobby nonton, film Korea bisa jadi alternatif  buat ngisi waktu luang jadi lebih asik lohh…..ehh satu lagi nihh..buat yang suka sama Rain, gosipnya tgl 3 desember, dia mo dateng ke Jakarta loh…. 

Buat sesama pecinta film Korea, kalo ada film-film lain yang bagus…please informed me dwong…

With such a striking cast comprising Lee Min Ki, Park Hae Il, Lee Cheon Hee, Shin Min Ah, Jung Yoo Mi, Park Hee Seon…etc (all major and A/B-list stars!), surely this cannot be disappointing right? Altho I know very well that hype and  big names cannot guarantee and sustain the quality of a show, but just LOOK at the list of actors involved, and you and I know very well that we’re in for some good stuff. If not the story, the acting surely MUST BE ABLE to speak for itself, no?

Okay, I’m sure some of you would have known, or would have guessed from the poster above, that this movie is something like Survivor – which portrays contestants battling each other out to get the prized money of 1 Million $ (US). The concept is well known, but never before shown on Korean cinema.  That’s why I was looking forward to watching this movie in the first place. Apart from my crush on the guys (goodness, they cannot get any any more attractive in here! Lee Cheon Hee should be up there in the poster too!), I was really interested in seeing Korean cinema tackle such a fresh/more reality-show-type concept.

So… by not spoiling the movie for you all, I’d say this movie was pretty decent, bordering between average and good. The concept is no doubt a regurgitation of Survivor (a given actually), but incorporated with more elements of surprises and twists. Watching it reminded me of Battle Royale (the famous Japanese kill-or-die for the $ show), albeit the Korean version entrenched with deeper insights into the mental and thinking of the contestants.

I liked how the movie probed into the competitiveness and rivalry between the contestants (tho a bit predictable, obviously due to having seen too much of reality tv shows hehe…), and how it showed that greed and desperation to survive can just be a fine line apart.   The direction was pretty on spot – and the acting fairly engaging and good thru out.

But that isn’t to say that the movie was truly realistic at all means.  In spite of the good points, I still felt that something was missing. Whilst I appreciated how the director tried to highlight the different kinds of emotions going thru each contestants when faced with different situations, I failed to feel the impact and punch I had expected the competition to bring about.

Yes, the thrill and excitement was there, but there’s that “X” factor missing which actually made it a lot less than what I would call a quality movie.

But if you want a movie capable of whetting your curiosity… and a movie with hot and sizzling men, this is IT!

Last but not least, if I were to rate this movie out of a 10 point system, I’d probably give it a 7.

And maybe another 0.5 for the guys in there! haha~~

As a matter of fact, the debate about the first Korean movie is still ongoing. The foremost problem is that the film recognized until now as the first in Korea’s film history, < Fight for Justice(Uilijeog guto) >, is not completely a dramatic film but a screen-and-stage play, where a performance on an outside stage was recorded on camera and displayed on screen. The director of Shingeukja Productions, Kim Do-san, directed this film with the funds from Park Seung-pil, the manager of Danseongsa and was released in 1919. It was a film to be played in a small section out of the whole theatrical performance so the question about whether this should be regarded as a true film in itself still remains. There are also debates regarding the exact wording of the title, but an advertisement in Maeil Newspaper right about the time the film was released in 1919 writes the title as < Fight for Justice(Uilijeog guto) >. In any case, the Korean film industry views October 27th, 1919, the day of the first premiere of < Fight for Justice(Uilijeog guto) >, as the birth of the Korean film industry and October 27th is commemorated as Film Day. Many people have different interpretations about the content of this movie, but film historian Ahn Jong-hwa refers to it as the story of a man who defeats the schemes of his evil step-mother who has her greedy eyes set on his family assets.

Still, there are people who disagree with this, too. Some Korean film historians such as Jo Hee-mun argue that < The Border (Gukgyeong)>, which was released in January of 1923, should be considered as the first Korean film. However, since the production of this film was mainly directed a Japanese production company, Shochiku, and the producer was also Japanese, most people find it meaningless to recognize this as Korea’s first film. Also, since < The Vow Made Below the Moon(Weolha-ui mangseo) > was funded by Japanese capital, some argue that < The Story of Jang-hwa and Hong-ryeon (JanghwaHongryeonjeon) > made in 1924 and funded by Park Seung-pil, the president of Danseongsa, should be considered as the first Korean film. But this is not a widely accepted view either. At present, the 1923 film < The Vow Made below the Moon(Weolha-ui mangseo) > should be considered as the first dramatic film of Korea.

Synopsis:

On November 19th the Korean movie “White Night” (백야행 / 하얀 어둠 속을 걷다) has it’s premier. The movie is a remake of the Japanese drama Byakuyakou (白夜行). I really look forward to seeing this.

Plot:
A man is murdered shortly after his release from prison. Detective. Dong-su Han (Han Suk Kyu) investigates the case, which leads him back to a homicide case that occured 14 years ago. An unsolved case that eats the soul of Det. Han to this day.

Meanwhile, Mi-ho (Son Ye Jin) is set to marry the chief executive of a large conglomeration. An assistant (Lee Min Jung) to the executive chief is asked to do a background check on Mi-ho. She discovers that Mi-ho’s mother was the primary suspect in an unsolved murder case 14 years ago. The assistant also notices another man, Yo-han (Go Suu / Go Su / Ko Soo), who always seems to linger by Mi-ho’s side.

Dong-su Han becomes convinced that the victim’s son from 14 year old murder case, Yo-han, is somehow involved in the recent murder. Det. Han then discovers a hidden relationship between Yo-han and Mi-ho. As more crimes occur, Det. Dong-su Han works frantically to uncover the truth…

Nam Hyeon-su, quien se encuentra a mitad de los 30, es un popular DJ y  animador (que fue más popular en sus días de adolescente como ídolo juvenil)…Un día alguien toca a la puerta de su apartamento y una jovencita llamada Hwang Jeong-nam aparece y le dice a Hyeon-su que él es su padre. Además, le informa que ahora es abuelo de su joven hijo, Ki-dong. Hyeon-su no le gustaría hacer otra cosa que cerrar la puerta, pero cuando Jeong-nam lo amenaza con ir a la prensa, éste le permite a la joven y a su hijo quedarse en el apartamento. ¡Complicaciones llegan cuando son vistos juntos y la gente asume que se encuentran envueltos en una relación romántica!
