இந்த போஸ்டை முதலில் ஒரு மறுமொழியாகத்தான் அளிக்க முயன்றேன். பின்னர் இதுவே ஒரு தர்க்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தலாம் என்பதால் போஸ்டாக அப்-க்ரேட் செய்துவிட்டேன்.

RV சுஜாதாவின் ப்ளாக் – கணையாழியின் கடைசி பக்கங்கள் போஸ்டில், சுஜாதா “நெஞ்சில் ஓர் ஆலயம்” மற்றும் ஸ்ரீதர், கே.எஸ்.ஜி, கண்ணதாசன் பற்றி கூறியிருப்பதாக மேற்கோள் காட்டியது இது:
”இதெல்லாம் நல்ல படம் என்றால் தமிழ் சினிமாவுக்கு கதி இல்லை என்று எழுதி இருக்கிறார்.”
இது அடாவடி ஸ்டேட்மண்ட் நம்பர் 1.

ஸ்ரீதர், கே.எஸ். கோபாலகிருஷ்ணன் இருவரிடமும் திறமை கிடையாதாம்.
இது அடாவடி ஸ்டேட்மண்ட் நம்பர்2.

கண்ணதாசன் காப்பி அடிப்பவர் என்றும் வாலி காப்பியை காப்பி அடிப்பவர் என்றும் எழுதி இருக்கிறார்.
இது அவ்வளவு அடாவடி இல்லாத ஸ்டேட்மண்ட்.

”பிடிக்க்கவில்ல” என்பதுடன் நிறுத்தியிருந்தால் இந்த வம்பில் மாட்டியிருக்க மாட்டார். நானும் கொஞம் வம்பு இழுத்து தான் பார்க்கலாமே எனற என் எண்ணத்தை கைவிட்டிருப்பேன். ஆனால் அவருக்கோ, வம்பில் மாட்டுவது என்பது அல்வா சாப்பிடுவது போன்றது. “கறுப்பு, சிவப்பு, வெளுப்பு” வெளி வந்த காலத்தில் எவ்வளவு வம்பில் மாட்டினார் என்பது சுஜாதா வாசகர்களுக்கு நன்றாகவே தெரியும்.
சுஜாதா என்பதால் நாம் அவர் சொல்லும் எல்லாவற்றையும் அப்படியே ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளமுடியாது. ஒரு காலத்தில் சோவையும்(சோவையும் தான் வம்பிற்க்கு இழுப்போமே!), சுஜாதாவையும் கண்மூடித்தனமாக ஆதரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தேன். ”கரையெல்லாம் செண்பகப்பூ” திரைப்படம் சரியாக ஓடாத பொழுது இப்படி ஒரு ஜீனியஸின் கதையை தமிழர்கள் ஆதரிககவில்லையே என்று மிகவும் வருத்தப்பட்டேன். இதைவிட யார் பிரமாதமாக கதை சொல்லிவிடமுடியும் என ஒரு இறுமாப்பு கூட என்னிடம் வளர்ந்தது. ஆனால் பின்னர் பகுத்தறிவு வளர, வளர இவர்களுடைய சில கருத்துகள் ஓட்டை நிறைந்ததாக பட்டது.

உதாரணத்திற்க்கு, சோ அவர்கள் மைக்கேல் ஜாக்‌ஷன் நடனங்களை “கீ கொடுத்த பொம்மை போல் இருக்கிறது” என்றும், “இதையெல்லாம் நடனம் என்று எப்படி சொல்வது?” என்றும் கூறினார். இது இந்திய கலாச்சாரத்திற்கு வேண்டுமானால் “கீ கொடுத்த பொம்மை” ஆட்டமாக இருக்கலாம். இன்னும் சரியாக சொல்லப்போனால் சோவிற்கு மட்டும் “கீ கொடுத்த பொம்மை” ஆட்டமாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் அமேரிக்காவிற்க்கும், நாகரீகம் அடைந்த நாடுகளுக்கும், இன்னும் பிற நாடுகளுக்கும், ஏன் இளைய பாரதத்திற்க்கும் கூட MJயின் நடனம் தானே முதன்மையாகத் தெரிகிறது. இன்று நமது கலாச்சாரத்தில் முக்கால்வாசி (முக்கால்வாசி என்பது ஒரு அப்ராக்‌ஷிமேஷனே) நடன ஆசிரியர்களுக்கு MJ மானசீக குருவாக, ஏன், தெய்வமாகவே இருக்கிறார். சோ இவ்வாறு கூறி பத்து பதினைந்து ஆண்டுகள் இருக்கும். ஆனால் இன்றும் அவர் கூறியது எனக்கு எந்த வகையிலும் அர்த்த்ம் ஏற்படுத்துவதாகத் தெரியவில்லை. குருடன் யானையை பார்த்த மாதிரி தோன்றுகிறது.

இதற்கு மாறாக, மேற்கத்திய நாடுகளில் பரதம், கதக் போன்ற நடனங்கள் மக்களை (குடியேறிய இந்தியர்கள் தவிர்த்து) அதிகம் கவராத ஒன்றாக இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் பரதம், கதக் போன்ற கிழக்கத்திய நடனங்கள் பிரபலம் அடையாத போதிலும் மற்றும் எந்த பெரிய ரசனையையும் ஏற்படுத்தாத போதிலும், மேல் நாடுகளில் இவைகளை வெளிப்படையாக விமர்சிக்காமல் கண்ணியம் காத்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

அவருடைய கண்மூடித்தனமான பா.ஜ.க ஆதரிப்பும் மனதிற்க்கு ஒரு நடுநிலமை உடைய தலைவரை இழந்தது போன்ற சுமையை கொடுக்கிறது.

சரி. சுஜாதா நெஞ்சில் ஒரு ஆலயம் தமிழ் திரையுலகத்திற்க்கு கதியற்ற நிலைமையை கொடுத்துள்ளது என்பது எதைப் பார்த்து? ஸ்ரீதர் போன்ற ஒரு படைப்பாளியை அவரால் எப்படி அலட்சியப்படுத்த முடிகிறது? ஒருவேளை பப்ளிசிடி ஸ்டண்டா? தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் நிச்சயம் “விக்ரம்” திரைபடத்தை விட “நெஞ்சில் ஓர் ஆலயம்” நன்றாகவே இருக்கிறது. கண்ணதாசனை காப்பி அடித்தார் என்று குறை சொல்கிறார். “விக்ரம்” திரைபடத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு ஹை-டெக் யுக்தியும் அயன் ஃப்லெமிங்கின் (Ian Lancaster Fleming) அப்பட்ட காப்பி தானே?

திரையுலகத்தில் AR Rahman முதற்கொண்டு எல்லோரும் காப்பி தான் அடிக்கிறார்கள். இப்பொழுதெல்லாம் திரைபடத்தின் தலைப்பை கூட, ஏதோ தமிழில் வார்த்தைகளுக்கு பஞ்சம் வந்துவிட்டது போல் காப்பி அடிக்கிறார்கள். லேட்டஸ்ட் உதாரணம்: ராமன் தேடிய சீதை. தலைப்பென்ன? கதையையே ”ரீ-மிக்ஸ்” என்ற பெயரில் காப்பி போட்டு குடிக்கிறார்கள். தமிழ் திரைபட உலகில் ”காப்பி” என்பதன் ”எவல்யூஷன்” இது.  ஹாலிவுட்டை கோலிவுட்டுக்கு காப்பி அடித்த காலம் போக கோலிவுட்டையே கோலிவுட்டுக்கு மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கொடுத்துக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்கள்.

சலாமியா நாட்டு பழக்க வழக்கங்கள் Octopussy காப்பி தானே? கண்ணதாசனையும், வாலியையும் குறை ஏன் கூறவேண்டும்? அப்பட்ட காப்பி ”நாக்க மூக்க”வையே யாரும் குறை சொல்வது போல் தெரியவில்லை. இவ்வளவு ஏன்? சுஜாதா மற்றும் நாமெல்லாம் போற்றும் “அந்த நாள்” யுக்திகளே காப்பி தான்.

மக்களுக்கு ஒரு வித போதையை கொடுக்கும் எந்த ”காப்பிக்கும்” தமிழ் திரையுலகத்தில் இடம் உண்டு.

Shout out to Chris Rasmussen, a former colleague in the intell biz who emails that he’ll be speaking on uses of Web 2.0 approaches in the Intelligence Community at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in June…. as he put it in his email, “I’m pretty sure Danish dudes from southern California have been blacklisted from Harvard for hundreds of years. Well the times are changing.”

Chris has been involved in social-networking and other 2.0 efforts in the IC, both at the enterprise level and in grass-roots form — accomplishing the latter and encouraging the former (strongly).  The Kennedy School program, “Web 2.0: Taking Action in Government”  is advertised as “examining the lessons learned from first movers in both business and government and distilling what actions government leaders must now take to harness the power of these new tools and business models.”  (more info here) 

I especially like that the conference is being organized with the help of Don Tapscott, co-author of  an excellent book: Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything.

I’m particularly interested in which government agencies are sending which employees to the KSG program (i.e. civil or military, what mix of officials, what level, what background, whether technical, “functional,” or managerial).  The Intelligence Community’s focus on Web 2.0 tools and approaches has been almost entirely centered on better collaboration and better analysis – in other words, internally focused.  Other government agencies are beginning to understand that social networks, crowd-sourcing, and wisdom-of-crowds approaches can be used in an externally focused way, aimed at improving the relationship between citizen and government.  Since I think of that as KSG’s ultimate mission – improving our civic polity – I’ll be really interested to hear how this conference succeeds and about its followup.

When I hear from Chris how it went I’ll post on that, as well.  Sadly he blogs only on a classified network, unlinkable from here :-)  Those pesky government regulations!

Sitzungsschlaf ist ja bekanntlich der gesündeste. Das kann man nun von der Sitzungsverpflegung nicht behaupten. Aber auch in diesem Fall waren die ostdeutschen KSG auf der Delegiertenversammlung der AKH bestens aufgestellt.

இசை அமைக்க மறுத்த படங்கள்!

இளையராஜா:-

“எனக்கொரு கெட்ட குணம். என்னிடம் யாராவது வந்து, “நீங்கள் இசை அமைக்கவில்லை என்றால், இந்தப் படத்தை எடுக்கமாட்டேன், இப்படியே விட்டு விடுவேன்” என்று சொன்னால், கண்டிப்பாக இசை அமைக்க ஒத்துக்கொள்ள மாட்டேன்! காரணம், “இவர்கள் எப்படி படம் எடுக்காமல் இருக்கிறார்கள், பார்ப்போமே!” என்ற எண்ணம்தான்.

இரண்டு மூன்று மாதம் காத்திருப்பார்கள். நான் இறங்கி வரமாட்டேன்.

அப்புறம், வேறு ஒருவரின் இசையில் படம் வெளிவந்து விடும்!

அப்படி வந்ததுதான் கே.பாக்யராஜின் முதல் படம் “ஒரு கை ஓசை” (இசை: எம்.எஸ்.விஸ்வநாதன்)

இப்படி, “நீங்கள் இசை அமைக்கவில்லை என்றால் இந்தப் படத்தை நான் எடுக்கப்போவதில்லை” என்று சொல்லி, நான் இசை அமைக்க மாட்டேன் என்று மறுத்து, வேறு ஒருவர் இசை அமைப்பில் படத்தை தயாரித்து வெளியிட்ட இருவர்:- நடிகர் பார்த்திபன் (படம் “புதிய பாதை”); அனந்த் (கே.பாலசந்தரின் உதவியாளர்). படம்: “சிகரம்.”

தீஸ்ரி மஞ்சில்

சாருசித்ரா சீனுவாசன், “தீஸ்ரி மஞ்ஜில்” என்ற இந்திப்படத்தை தமிழில் எடுக்க முடிவு செய்து, கமல் – ஸ்ரீதேவியை ஒப்பந்தம் செய்துவிட்டு என்னிடம் வந்தார். எனக்குப் படத்தைப் போட்டுக்காட்டினார்.

எஸ்.பி.பாலசுப்பிரமணியத்துடன் நான் கச்சேரி நடத்திய காலத்திலேயே, இந்தப் படத்தின் பாடல்கள் அத்தனையும் மனப்பாடம். ஆர்.டி.பர்மன் அற்புதமாக இசை அமைத்திருந்தார்.

படம் முடிந்ததும், “இந்தப் பாடல்களைப்போல் என்னால் கம்போஸ் செய்ய முடியாது. வேறு யாரையாவது ஏற்பாடு செய்து கொள்ளுங்கள்” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டேன்.

சில பாடல்களுக்கு இணை கிடையாது. அதுபோல் இசை அமைக்க முயற்சி செய்யக்கூடாது. ஆர்.டி.பர்மன் இசை அமைத்த அந்தப் படத்தின் பாடல்களும் அந்த வகையைச் சேர்ந்தவை.

டைரக்டர்கள்

சினிமாவுக்கு கதை சொல்வது ஒரு தனி கலை. சிலர், கதையை சொல்லத் தெரியாமல் மூன்று – நான்கு மணி நேரம் சொல்வார்கள். சிலர், கதையைப் பிரமாதமாகச் சொல்லிவிட்டு, உப்புச் சப்பு இல்லாமல் படமாக்குவார்கள்.

என்னிடம், சொல்லியதை சொல்லியவாறே படம் எடுத்த டைரக்டர்கள் இரண்டே பேர்: பாலுமகேந்திரா, மணிரத்னம்.

கதையை மிகவும் சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்லும் இயக்குனர்களில் ஸ்ரீதர் அவர்களும், கே.எஸ்.கோபாலகிருஷ்ணன் அவர்களும் தனி ரகம். இருவரும் 15 நிமிடங்களுக்குள் கதை சொல்லிவிடுவார்கள்.

காதல் ஓவியம்

பாரதிராஜா அவரது “காதல் ஓவியம்” படத்தின் மீது ரொம்ப நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருந்தார்.

நான் மூகாம்பிகையின் தீவிர பக்தன் என்பதால், “படத்தின் நாயகன் அம்பாளின் பக்தன் என்று சொன்னால், இளையராஜா நல்ல டிïன்களை எலலாம் போட்டுத்தருவார்” என்று பாரதியிடம் உதவியாளர்களாக இருந்த மணிவண்ணனும், கலைமணியும் சொல்லியிருப்பார்கள் போலும்.

நான் அப்படத்துக்கு இசை அமைத்தேன். ஒருநாள் மாலை நேரத்தில் ஆரம்பித்த பாடல் `கம்போசிங்’ அன்றே முடிந்துவிட்டது. படத்துக்கான எட்டுப்பாடல்களும் தயாராகிவிட்டன.

படம், பின்னணி இசை சேர்ப்புக்காக வந்தபோது, அந்த படத்தின் மீது எனக்கு நம்பிக்கை வரவில்லை. பாரதியிடம், “படம் ரிலீஸ் ஆவதற்குள் நாம் இருவரும் குருவாïர் போய் வரலாம்” என்றேன். “சரி” என்றார். வேலை சரியாக இருந்ததால், நகர முடியவில்லை.

திடீரென்று ஒருநாள் கலைமணியை பாரதி கூப்பிட்டு, “ஏய்யா! படத்திலே ஏதோ ஒன்னு குறையுதே. உனக்குத் தெரியாதா? தெரிந்தா சொல்லு!” என்றார்.

“அது ஒன்றும் இல்லே சார். கதைதான் குறையுது!” என்று கலைமணி கூற, எல்லோரும் விழுந்து விழுந்து சிரித்தோம். கலைமணியை பாரதி அடிக்கப்போக, அவர் தப்பி ஓடிவிட்டார்.

படம் ரிலீஸ் ஆகியது. ஒரு வாரத்தில், படப்பெட்டிகள் எல்லாம் திரும்பி வந்துவிட்டன.

பாரதி என்னிடம் வந்து, “வா, குருவாïர் போய் வரலாம்” என்றார். “படம் ரிலீஸ் ஆவதற்கு முன்பல்லவா போயிருக்க வேண்டும். இப்போது வேண்டாமே!” என்று கூறிவிட்டேன்.

“காதல் ஓவியம்” படம் சரியாகப் போகாததால், பாரதி மனம் சங்கடப்பட்டார். ரசிகர்கள் மீது கோபப்பட்டார்.

“பாரதி! ரசிகர்களை குறை கூறவேண்டாம். அவர்கள் எப்போதும் சரியாகவே இருப்பார்கள்” என்றேன்.

“உனக்குத் தெரியாது. இவர்களுக்கு எது வேணும் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாதா? இவர்களுக்காக ஒரு மூன்று படி கீழே இறங்கி வந்து ஒரு படம் எடுத்துக் காட்டுகிறேன் பார்!” என்றார்.

அதற்கு நான், “யோசித்துப் பாருங்கள். 16 வயதினிலே படம் நன்றாக ஓடிக்கொண்டிருந்த அதே நேரத்தில், அதற்கு இணையாக விட்டலாச்சாரியாவின் “ஜெகன்மோகினி” படம் ஓடியதல்லவா? அதற்காக, பாரதிராஜா, ஜெகன்மோகினி போல படம் எடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று அர்த்தம் இல்லை. உங்களிடம் மக்கள் எதிர்பார்ப்பது வேறு. அதைவிட்டு எங்கும் போகவேண்டாம்” என்றேன்.

ஆனால் பாரதி தன் கருத்தில் உறுதியாக இருந்தார்.

ரசிகர்களுக்காகவே கீழே இறங்கி வந்து அவர் எடுத்த “வாலிபமே வா வா.” படம் ஓடவில்லை.
