What a long, boring day… 3 long lessons with basically nothing to do.
Worst is the English C class I had in the afternoon, I have to write an academic paper, 6 pages and I have no idea on how to start.
My topic is about how the evolution of martial arts of the 20th and now 21st century has gone.
But where to start, how to find and construct the information is the biggest mystery…I have no idea.

I wanna especially take up the topic about MMA and the UFC.
Personally, I am no fan of MMA, also known as mixed martial arts, and when I watch the UFC matches… I get like…what the fuck is this?

In my opinion MMA is nothing but brutes just pounding the living fuck out of one another with ruthless kicking and punching, and then they know some good wrestling moves on the ground…but nothing more, no technique, no dicipline and most importantly; no honour.
This isnt real martial arts, for there is no ART in this sport, or blood sport as I call it.
No, I prefer the traditional Wushu and all those other traditional east asian martial arts, which I feel is the true artforms of combat and selfdefense.

I would like to give a tip for a good movie; ‘Wushu’ from 2008 starring and directed by Sammo Hung, produced by Jackie Chan and introdcuing the rising wushu stars Wenjie Wang and Fengchao Liu, seen on the above pic with Jackie himself.
Great movie about a bunch of kids growing up at a wushu academy, learning about life and wushu when they ultimately must use their power to defeat evil.
It is kinda B, but the acting is good and very, very well choreographed, and the Wushu competition scenes are breathtaking.

Though, to change to another subject from all the violence; I created a little but very nice playlist on Spotify, filled with some of my personal favorite love songs ^^

Il n’y a qu’à lire le premier paragraphe pour faire le plein de clichés, c’est assez intéressant d’un point de vue rhétorique : c’est la pédagogie du coup de pied dans la tronche. Fin comme la finition d’un gant de boxe. Rempli jusqu’à la nausée des obsessions d’un vieux monsieur qui semble saisir n’importe quelle occasion de régler ses comptes avec Benoît XVI ; même si ça doit passer par des tribunes où la pensée est tellement distendue que l’ensemble en devient intellectuellement incompréhensible. Symptomatique. Pathologique.

Quant à l’archevêque de Canterbury, s’il a signé le communiqué annonçant la nouvelle du rapprochement, c’est parce que c’est une grosse buse. Si près de 400.000 anglicans rejoignent l’Église catholique, c’est forcément contre leur gré, même s’ils ne le savent pas encore… Ce qui se conçoit mal s’énonce salement. Il ne manque finalement, pour faire entrer cette tribune parmi les grands classiques des pamphlets-ni-à-faire, qu’une allusion à Vichy – ce qui nous rappelle au passage qu’Hans Küng n’est pas Français, mais Suisse.

well, a somewhat of a boring day here, apart from a couple of events, i went to bed at 2AM (again) and got woken up at 7AM by the tradies working on the new houses in my street, not happy, eventually it died down a bit by about 7:30, and went back to sleep………till, i got woken up by dogs barking at 8AM, just my luck……then i had to go chase my dog down the road to catch her because she escaped by digging a hole under the fence (mind you i was awake at the time), something i didnt really want to have to do early in the morning.

after that, we had some other tradies install the solar-heart hot water system onto our house, which is cool, and had a couple of parcels arrive at the front door this morning, and if there is one with i hate with parcels, is those damn electronic writing things, my god they are so annoying! you cant even write properly on them, gah! i dont know why they insist on using those things……

had a chance to watch a movie and watched ‘the 36th chamber of Shao lin’ which of course, was a kung fu movie, but it is awesome, after that it’s pretty much got boring hehe

Εντάξει σαν karateka είπα να πω και εγώ τη βλακεία μου. Αλλά τι να κάνεις όταν η ταινία προσβάλει το karate; Για τη συγκεκρυμένη μόνο να γράψεις γελοίους τίτλους, γιατί αν κάνεις κάτι περισσότερο θα είσαι ελεεινός στόκος. Ο λόγος βέβαια για το Ip-Man. Μία κινέζικη παραγωγή του 2008.

Αν θέλετε να δείτε μία κλασική κακογυρισμένη κινεζιά του style “Τίγρης και Δράκος” ΜΗΝ δείτε το Ip-Man, το οποίο είναι μία σοβαρότατη παραγωγή που πραγματεύται πραγματικά γεγονότα από τον δεύτερο παγκόσμιο πόλεμο και τη ζωή του Yip, του ανθρώπου που έβγαλε το Wing Chun Kung Fu (Αν και ο θρύλος θέλει το συγκεκρυμένο παρακλάδι του Kung Fu να ιδρύεται από μία γυναίκα που εξασκούταν ώστε να αντιμετωπίσει έναν πλούσιο Samurai που ήθελε να την παντρευτεί-την ταινία να ακούτε εσείς). Μέσα από το contrast μίας Κίνας πλούσιας και μίας Κίνας βασανισμένης από τον πόλεμο η ταινία περνά μηνύματα για την φιλοσοφία των πολεμικών τεχνών, καθώς και για τον τρόπο ζωής γενικότερα.

Τρομερή εντύπωση μου έκανε η πλούσια παραγωγή, γεμάτα σκηνικά που θυμίζουν Hollywood, ερμηνείες που ξεπερνούν κατά πολύ τη μέση fighting παραγωγή, και κάμερα που βοηθά να καταλάβεις τις κινήσεις χωρίς όμως να χάνει την καλλιτεχνική της άποψη. Γενικότερα μία παραγωγή που σε τίποτα δεν θυμίζει Ασία (όχι οτι σνομπάρω τις ασιατικές παραγωγές, αλλά κατά κύριο λόγο το budget τους τις μειώνει πολύ).

Τώρα για να καταλάβετε τον τίτλο και για να μην γίνω ο περίγελος του net, στο τέλος της ταινίας ο πρωταγωνιστής παλεύει με έναν Ιάπωνα karateka στρατιωτικό που χρησιμοποιεί τις πολεμικές τέχνες καθαρά με μιλιταριστικούς σκοπούς, και του κάνει κήρυγμα το οποίο προσβάλλει λίγο τις Ιαπωνικές πολεμικές τέχνες γενικότερα και το karate ειδικότερα. Ο τίτλος λοιπόν είναι διαννοουμενίστικο αστειάκι (και αν δεν σας άρεσε στ’ αρχίδια μου κιόλας).

I’m feeling rather out of it right now, and i’m not entirely sure why. I feel a bit sick and a tired and there is no logical explanation for why i’m feeling like this.

Besdies that though, nothing has really happened since my last post, i mean i’ve been to uni a few times and had a take away with Jenny last night, but nothing major has happened.

For the first time last ngiht i saw Kung Fu Panda…instantly i thought it was stupidly good
The animation used is quality even if i was watchin a blu-ray copy

But even that could not entertain me for what must of been the longest and most painfully boring hour of my life.
Its not that it was things i didn’t understand, it was just the same as i’ve had drilled into me at college for the past 2 years.
If it was something new i’m sure i would of been interested and delighted to listen, but it wasn’t, its like someone telling you how to put clothes on, over and over again.

But enough about that for now, because today i’m once again going to my home, not my uni home obviously, but my origional home.
I know its only been about 2 weeks however i really can’t wait to see them again, to hear how they’ve been, and to play with my dog again.
I’m meant to be going the beer festival with my family aswell, which is always a good time

Anyway i’m sure more will come to me later, and i’m sure i’ll blog again soon, but for now

Crystal Klondike Solitaire är ett riktigt roligt kortspel där man ska lägga patiens. Patiensen är av typen klondike där man ska få bort alla kort så att de hamnar högst upp i de fyra högarna. Grafiken och ljudet är riktigt bra i spelet liksom spelkänslan. I spelet så kan man välja på att spela tre olika varianter och svårighetsgrader av spelet. De man kan välja på är att man tar ett kort i taget, tre kort i taget och tre kort i taget med begränsningar. Spelet har en highscore lista som gör att man kan se hur man ligger till bland alla andra som spelar och lägger patiensen. Spelet är ett av de mest välgjorda patienserna som man kan spela just nu.

Kungen i Norge får skarp kritik. Han uttalade sig om att framtidens kungar i Norge bör vara kristna samtidigt som han värnade om religionsfriheten. Han begriper tydligen inte som så många andra att religionsfrihet inte bara betyder att du kan utöva vilken religion du vill utan att du även kan välja att vara ateist.
Frågan är om han hade en baktanke, för uttalandet kom när han besökte en moské i Oslo. Men inga reaktioner av kränkta muslimer har ännu kommit så ev baktanke har inte gått hem, ännu

I Norge säger man att det är kungens rätt och frihet att vara kristen men det är pinsamt och mycket beklagligt att han blandar sig i Norges statsform. Han begränsar den religionsfrihet som han säger sig värna om.
Och den frågeställningen borde vi göra här i Sverige också, då menar jag inte att våran kung har blandat sig i vår statsform utan politikers krypande.

 Prins Henrik från Danmark  skall lära kineserna att dricka vin skriver Kvp. Han börjar med att öppna tio vinbutiker i Kina och skall själv vara på plats den första öppnas i Shanghai. Prinsen är ju ursprungligen från vindrickarlandet Frankrike och äger tillsammans med sin fru, drottning Margrethe, slott där.

På bilden till höger övar paret sig i vindrickandets ädla konst och kanske har  prinsen övat mycket. Ölmage är ju ett allmänt kännt uttryck, men det är kanske vinmage också.

Prins Henriks vinbutiker i Kina skall heta ”Den franske vinkungens källare” men han har även enl vissa uppgifter kallat sig kung i helt andra sammanhang i Italien. Inför sin 75-års dag i somras har han uttalat att: ”varför ska en man som är gift med en drottning inte få kalla sig kung? Henrik vill göra det till en jämlikhetsfråga.” (Kvp) …….. och danskarna skrattar och drottningens hov tiger. Hovet tillbakavisar uppgifterna att prinsen kallat sig kung i smyg i Italien och säger att om det hänt så var det ett skämt.

Jovisst …… det blir något skämtaktigt löjligt det där med kungatiteln, fast i sina vinbutikers namn lyckades han för all del få med “kung” ändå i “vinkungens”. Men där var det dock ”franske vinkungens” och inte “danske”, så där klarar han ju sig.

When the tall young Asian man woke up on Sunday October 4th 2009, I’m sure he didn’t think he was supposed to die.

When I woke up that day I was grumpy as usual. I didn’t know under which circumstances I would later meet a man screaming “help” while disappearing under the waves.

Few times do journalists get caught up in a story they way I did, but when that happens experience has taught me the story will be hard to tell. I disagree with Capa’s line, being too close to a story is as bad as being too far.

The trip started with a hike to Tailongwan, Saikung -in Hong Kong’s north eastern New Territories. We arrived there around 2 PM. The beach is secluded, only reachable by jungle trails. That’s why it’s a great place to escape Central. That’s why there aren’t rescue services.

“Bad day for swimming, gotta get a floatie for some fun,” I thought. Pilar, (my wife) a South Atlantic veteran, after a very short assessment rented a body board for both of us. The rest of our party already had one.

Enjoying Sunday, some surfing and lots of tumbling around in the enraged waters. All was fun until a man pointed towards someone with his arms raised getting swallowed by the waves. His shouts drowned by the fury of the sea.

One in our group, a good swimmer, hurried over there and caught him. He later said it felt as if the drowning man had passed out and caught him right on time.

I approached from the other side, only to assist, and other two members of our group -all of us with boards, closed in.

The drowning man was between the beach and the surfers who go out there on days like these. He went unnoticed to the long-board riders. By chance we were close to him and one of us managed to make it on time.

After our swimmer got him out of the worst, the Asian man’s friends huddled around us and we dragged him to the beach.

As soon as he was on safe ground I asked him his name. A traditional three part name in Cantonese. He was speaking. He was alive.

I took his pulse, it was over the roof. His friends had already called the authorities. Not much more to do other than talking to him and making sure he felt OK.

And so he stayed on the beach until a helicopter arrived. Of course, I couldn’t resist the temptation to shoot, with a simple camera.

The video shows the exceptional work of the Hong Kong authorities, they arrived with a full team of medics and airlifted him to a hospital. We were stunned by the efficient operation.

It seems the Hong Kong Standard wrote about the drownings of the season. I’m not sure if it’s the same person at the bottom of the piece. Those who survive don’t make headlines.

His friends wanted to have our phone numbers, we refused. All of us just did what anyone else would have, given the same opportunity.

Our best pay was knowing that a man is still alive and all of us played a little part in the most important word of this phrase: “still.” Another day for someone not supposed to still be among us.

O Kung-Fu é originário da China e nasceu da necessidade  de sobrevivência dos antepassados na luta contra animais ferozes e contra inimigos.
Conta a lenda que certa vez, um monge chinês -Ta Mo – subiu numa montanha e se pôs a contemplar o movimento dos animais, as posições que tomavam para a luta e a maneira como se defendiam dos ataques. Observando tais movimentos, desenvolveu um trabalho de adaptação desses animais para  o homem,  estruturando-os de acordo com as possibilidades físicas do homem. Assim nasceu o Kung-Fu, como chamam os ocidentais esta luta chinesa.
Esta arte marcial milenar vem orientando as pessoas, bem como ajudando os jovens a se direcionarem em disciplina, respeito com os colegas.

De um modo geral, estrutura o corpo físico, em combinação com a mente, extravasando as ansiedades, angústias e stresses acumulados no dia a dia, fortalecendo-os.
Pode ser praticado por adultos e crianças de ambos os sexos.
Combina-se ginástica completa de todo o corpo, bem como movimentos, denominados Katis, onde compila-se, em sequências baseadas em movimentos de animais, mãos e pernas.
Decorrentes das observações dos ataques dos animais, de onde originou-se o Kung-fu, surgiram os vários estilos praticados no mundo, conseqüentes das mutações e adaptações para o ocidente.

Hoje a realidade brasileira mostra uma arte marcial chinesa (Kung-fu), voltada para o bem estar físico e mental do praticante. Não há para o seguidor, na medida em que passa a conhecer o fundamento da doutrina, aspirações de ser um “lutador profissional”, seu treinamento é voltado para o relaxamento da mente e o desenvolvimento corpóreo, atribuindo-lhe saúde e bem estar.
