He’s Dead

Its so close away but yet so far. As we all get closer to the big day, everyone starts to freak. Well at least some people. They don’t know what there going do,how there going to fix the turkey and for some, the forget to thaw the turkey. Now Thanksgiving can get a little hectic. Seeing your uncle drunk throwing up ham would make it a memorial one. Now I said that I was going to make Thanksgiving special. Well this is the countdown. In this I will jot down some stuff that I think you should not do or forget to do on Thanksgiving.

Number 1: Make sure you have planned what you are going to cook. Why do you want your family coming to your house and all you have made is that mash potatoes, and there not even made all the way!

Number 2: There is always the football game that goes on. This year I heard that the lions where playing. The suck! Why in the world are we going to watch a team that never wins. Why won’t Ford just get rid of there football team, like really, you sell cars! You don’t need a football team! Why do you think that there in the shape there in. Well I really don’t know if it’s the team or not. I’m just guessing.

Number 3: Alcohol is the drink that everyone will have at there Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter if your black or white. There’s either going to be a Colt 45 or a Millers light there. Pick one and get drunk!

Number 4: Man I’m out of stuff to say. Should you do what I said and get drunk? I don’t know. My mind is spinning and I don’t drink! Or do I??? No I don’t just messing around. -_-…

So this is it. That is all of the stuff that you should make sure you do and not do. Now this is coming from a man who is not that bright and if you do what I say, you may not be bright either. So this is you Count Down to Thanksgiving. look out for my next one tomorrow! Holla

AP—A Kentucky census worker found naked, bound with duct tape and hanging from a tree with “fed” scrawled on his chest killed himself but staged his death to make it look like a homicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Bill Sparkman, 51, was found Sept. 12 with a rope around his neck near a cemetery in a heavily wooded area of the Daniel Boone National Forest in southeastern Kentucky. Authorities said his wrists were loosely bound, his glasses were taped to his head and he was gagged.

Kentucky State Police Capt. Lisa Rudzinski said an analysis found that “fed” was written “from the bottom up.” He was touching the ground, and to survive “all Mr. Sparkman had to do at any time was stand up,” she said.

“Our investigation, based on evidence and witness testimony, has concluded that Mr. Sparkman died during an intentional, self-inflicted act that was staged to appear as a homicide,” Rudzinski said.

Authorities said Sparkman alone manipulated the suicide scene. Rudzinski said he “told a credible witness that he planned to commit suicide and provided details on how and when.”

Authorities wouldn’t say who Sparkman told of his plan, but said Sparkman talked about it a week before his suicide and the person did not take him seriously.

Friends and co-workers have said that even while undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, Sparkman would show up for work smiling with a toboggan cap to cover his balding head. They said he was punctual and dependable.

$600,000 in life insurance
Sparkman had recently taken out two accidental life insurance policies totaling $600,000 that would not pay out for suicide, authorities said. If Sparkman had been killed on the job, his family also would have been be eligible for up to $10,000 in death gratuity payments from the government.

Sparkman’s son, Josh, previously told The Associated Press that his father had named him as his life insurance beneficiary. Josh Sparkman said earlier this month he found paperwork for the private life insurance policy among his father’s personal files but wasn’t sure of the amount.

The Census Bureau suspended door-to-door interviews in the rural area after Sparkman’s body was found, but a spokesman said normal operations would resume in Clay County next month.

Anti-government sentiment was initially one possibility in the death. Authorities said Sparkman had discussed perceived negative views of the federal government in the county.

Exciting as this race has already been, it is sure to only get more intense as the primaries come closer and turn absolutely brutal once each party chooses their nominee. Now that sitting Senator Jim Bunning has decided not to run for re-election, after getting into a vicious fight with party leadership who not-too-subtly nudged him from the race, each party has 2 major candidates that are fighting for their respective party’s nomination.

Republicans

The establishment favorite in the race to succeed Senator Bunning is Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson. Raised in north Kentucky, Grayson won his statewide position in 2003 at the age of 31 after a brief, but successful career in corporate law. To learn more about his campaign for Senate, click here.

Carrying a famous last name that implies his political ideology as well, Rand Paul, the son of Texas Congressman and 2008 Presidential candidate Ron Paul, is looking to bring his father’s brand of politics to the Senate seat in Kentucky. If there is any room to breathe in this primary, there are 4 other Republican candidates who hope that fighting between the two best known candidates allows them to snatch away victory. They include Bill Johnson, a former Navy officer and BP executive, Gurley Martin, a Birther activist, Brian Oerther, a public school teacher in Jefferson County, and Roger Thoney, an engineer and frequent candidate.

Democrats

Six years ago, Dan Mongiardo, then a little known State Senator, almost pulled off the upset of the year, losing by .7% even while George W. Bush won the state with nearly 60% of the vote. Now Lieutenant Governor, Mongiardo, a surgeon before entering the political realm, hopes to win the seat outright. He has hit some potholes on the outset of the race, where he was caught on tape bad mouthing sitting governor Steve Beshear.

Jack Conway also has strong statewide name recognition, serving currently as the state’s Attorney General and he hopes to be the Democratic nominee for Senate this year. Often cited as a rising star in the Kentucky Democratic Party, Conway hopes that his brand of  “a new generation of leadership” will resonate with voters who have had little new blood in the Kentucky congressional political arena for a long time.

As with the Republican primary, there are other candidates hoping to make headway against the two more well known figures. So far, there are 3, Lillie Miller-Johnson, Fayette County Conservation District Supervisor, Darlene Price, an Army veteran and former Customs agent, and Maurice Sweeney, a farmer and former state employee of the  Kentucky Department of Transportation.

Free Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Workshop!!!

I have been working on ways in which I, and my Three Rivers Martial Arts family, can give back to the community that has made us what we are. Beyond that, I have been trying to come up with as many ways, qualitatively and quantitatively, to give back to the community on a global scale. This is a simple and complicated task.

The easy part is doing: Give to charities, spread joy and kindness, harm no one, live the Golden Rule in everything you do.

The hard part is the direction and organization: How do you make compassion contagious? How exactly do you get others involved? I found what may be the most perfect answer at the most perfect time for me. I came across a TEDTalk (which are always awesome and you should check out by clicking here if you’ve never seen these before), by a woman named Karen Armstrong. She came up with an idea/initiative called The Charter for Compassion. I checked out her lecture, was blown away; checked out some videos on the topic, was amazed; and read the Charter on the site devoted to it, and was overwhelmed! This Charter has some meat to it. It is not an empty, vacuous set of ideas floating with no direction and saying “Hey guys, can you please be nice to each other if you get around to it?” No, rather, this is a mandate of sorts, it seems to me, stating that if we cannot spread compassion, and disseminate the true nature of what it means to be compassionate, then we are headed for misery and downfall.

I will explain another time what the hell Jiu-Jitsu has to do with Compassion, if you don’t already understand, but for now it is just simply my vehicle to promote awareness and get people involved with the charitable principles of compassionate awareness. Like Edmund Bourne said:

“Despite our differences, we are all in this together. No act of kindness or compassion goes unnoticed. To change the world, take compassionate action within your immediate sphere of influence. To change yourself, start by being still and making time just to listen.”

So it is in that vein, that I invite you all out to my workshop, where I will show you some of the best Jiu-Jitsu that I can, get you excited about learning such an incredible system, and hopefully (my greatest intention) create an atmosphere that breeds so much compassion that it is palpable. Bring what you can: food(canned, packaged, not highly-perishable), clothing, toys, and of course cash. Every bit of it will go to local charitable organizations and help out families and individuals in need.

If, you don’t have anything to give when you show up, I will not turn you away. You can participate in the workshop for the admission price of one promise. You must make me a promise that you will, on that day, affirm the Charter for Compassion on the charterforcompassion.org website, and also that you will do some compassionate, selfless, altruistic act of kindness. That is all. But you have to mean it.

This elegantly simple cake is white with a vanilla buttercream and covered in a marshmallow fondant.  There were 3 sheet cakes that were made for the guests as well.  One was banana with banana buttercream, the second was strawberry with a strawberry buttercream and the third was a lemon cake with a lemon buttercream.  The wedding was held in Harrodsburg, KY. The topper is a beautiful fresh flower combination of red tulips and red roses.  The arrangement was created by Ellis Florist of Harrodsburg, KY.

AP/Jeffrey McMurray & Devlin Barrett— A census taker found hanging from a tree had named his son as his life insurance beneficiary, and investigators are looking into whether the father manipulated the death scene to make a claim possible, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press Thursday.

In an interview with AP, Josh Sparkman said he found paperwork for the private life insurance policy among his father’s personal files but wasn’t sure of the amount or when it was taken out. He said authorities have told him nothing about the case or produced a death certificate, which is usually needed to make an insurance claim.

Two law enforcement sources, who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the case, said investigators are trying to determine if Bill Sparkman committed suicide but altered the scene to make it look like a homicide, allowing his son to collect. Life insurance policies typically do not cover suicides within a certain period of time after the policy starts.

Josh Sparkman said he is convinced his father was slain, in part because there were several items missing and apparently stolen from his car.

“If it’s deemed suicide, there’s no point in even looking at insurance,” Josh Sparkman said. “There’s no such thing as suicide insurance. The money is not the concern. I just want to know what happened to my dad.“
