Modernica will be exhibiting our George Nelson Bubble Lamps at the Light Show West at the LA Convention Center this Wednesday and Thursday. The show was created for west coast manufacturers and specifiers of lighting products. The show features new products, non-electric technology and free seminars including Lighting & Sustainability: Architecture, The Environment and Beyond.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo knows as E3 houses all the gaming industry top dogs for a three day extraveganza showcasing the games coming in the not-so-distant future.  E3 had once become a huge event for gamers and industry professionals everywhere, bringing large crowds and elegant press conferences put on by Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.  But in the last couple years, E3 was cut back and the big publishers didn’t put nearly as much money into showing their audience why gaming on their console would be outstanding.  Well in 2009 they’re letting loose, again.  E3 will bring back the flash, finesse, and big crowds as the LA Convention Center is opened up to the general public for three days starting on the morning of June 1, 2009 and lasting until June 4.  So if you ever found it interesting to see what’s coming for video games, check out E3 online at e3expo.com.  Once each publisher is finished, you can download and watch the press conferences where groups like Microsoft dazzle you with their upcoming games, hardware, and online service additions.  It’s not as geeky as it sounds, and there’s a lot of money going into the presentations to make it cool again.

Yes, it’s that time of year again my video gaming friends.  E3 where dreams are dashed, promises broken and rumors finally die….. no wait…. reverse that… dreams are full-filled…. promises are exceeded and rumors come true!!

G4TV.com is supposed to be airing over 22 hours of the event both on their channel and on the web.  It’s currently unknown whether or not it will be in High Def. but keeping our fingers crossed.

Never been to this before, but according to the site it’s the largest denim sample sale with over 20,000 pieces at 50-80% off. Only drag is that you have to pay for first dibs: pony up $15 to be a pre-registered VIP, or try your luck on Sunday’s leftovers for free (must RSVP ahead of time). In case you missed it, the State of the Black Union (SOBU) organized and hosted by Tavis Smiley was fantastic.  With all that is going on in America and specifically our communities, those of us in attendance as well as the millions who were watching courtesy of C-Span were treated to a stellar lineup of panelist who articulated our concerns and provided the proper perspective and framework for moving ahead.

Dr. Dyson stole the show during the morning panel.  Rev. Jackson as usual made sense – “why give the banks bailout loans at 3% and then they turn around and charge students 6% up for Student loans?????  – Give the Students the same hustle the banks received!!!!!!!!!

Rev. Al pointed in grace and with passion that just because we have a African-American as President of the United States, does not mean we no longer need to address Civil Rights issues.    Anyway, it was an excellent event that will take time to absorb so my encouragement is you get the book “Accountable” at your favorite African-American owned bookstore and you check out C-Span as I am sure they will rebroadcast.

While African-American issues were the focus of the symposium, the facts are simple ALL AMERICANS are in the same boat and the bottom-line warcry is to balance the playing field and create opportunities for everyone.  The question is…………have we learned?  will it happen? or will folk go back to business as usual?

Anyway, that’s my brief review.  Feel free to chime in with yours.

Come visit California Green Designs and see our recent installations at the Go Green Expo on Jan 23-25 at the LA Convention Center, the expo dedicated to making communities greener, one city at a time.

A new show for the new year. New York’s Go Green Expo makes its way to California this January with what is expected to be a great show. California Green Designs will be there South Hall J Booth # 113

The show starts this Friday,  January 23rd with a day long program for businesses interested in going green. Buyers get in Free on Friday with their Business Card, followed by a weekend long program for Angelenos  looking for a more green lifestyle.

Lined up among the speakers at the show, include celebrities Ed Begley Jr., Mariel Hemingway, best selling authors Josh Dorfman “The Lazy Environmentalist”, Julie Edelman “The Accidental Housewife,”, Bryan Au “Raw in 10 Minutes”, and stars from Discovery Channel Planet Green’s TV show “Alter-Eco” Boise Thomas and Darren Moore.

*A special screening of Sundance Winner “FUEL” will be shown Friday evening, at 5.*

So my mom and dad became USA citizens a couple of months ago and they even got to vote for the first time. Their swearing were different dates and locations. These are photos from my dads at the LA convention center. My dad said he felt like he was betraying Mexico but that it was the right thing to do. I’m the last full Mexican citizen in my house. Arriba Mexico cabrones!!!

GAMING

Gaming confab E3 is returning to its big bash roots inviting hardcore gaming fans back into the fold for next year’s event, scheduled at the LA Convention Center for June 2-4. The Electronic Software Association made the decision to close E3 to fans in 2007 and has since seen much of enthusiasm around the event dissipate. (Cynopsis 10/24)

La gente de Gamekyo estuvo ya frente al Convention Center de Los Angeles, lugar donde se llevará a cabo el E3 Media & Bussiness Summit de este año, y así es como luce hoy, prácticamente sin ningún indicio de que el martes comenzará un evento de videojuegos.

Ya no lucen los gigantescos anuncios tapando la fachada del edificio, o letreros grandes promocionando otros juegos, pisos y escalinatas luciendo a un personaje de una conocida serie, o siquiera el ambiente previo a un E3 como antes sucedía.

Una lástima, y bastante contradictorio en realidad, pues la industria de los videojuegos ha generado muchísimas ganancias en los últimos años, y este evento que antes era el más importante en occidente, ahora se ha visto reducido a niveles que incluso la prensa especializada ha lamentado.

Pero bueno, les recordamos que mañana comenzará la actividad en Los Angeles, con la conferencia de prensa de Microsoft, y el 15 tocará el turno de Nintendo y Sony.
