So, this week, for a chem lab, our teacher decided to make us bake cookies. He gave us Metric Measur

So, this week, for a chem lab, our teacher decided to make us bake cookies. He gave us Metric Measurements, told us to convert them to US form, and bake those darn cookies. AND bring them to class on tuesday so we can have a mini ‘party’ after our test. party my @ss.
Let’s just say….. I can’t cook for my life.
Patrick and I decided to work together to make cookies. Being azn and saving money.
BAD idea. Put two cooking failures together and you get an even bigger failure.
First thing first, we get our supplies out. And we run into our first wall :: We have no measuring supplies. Patrick’s mommie said, ‘ Just use the liquid one. It’s fine.’ (oh the beauty and simplicity of asian-ness)
We decide that is unacceptable and run like mad to the computer to see if anybody around in the area is willing to let us steal their supplies. We wasted half an hour searching for someone, and another 45 minutes WALKING to someone’s house, IN THE PITCH DARK.
what ever happened to streetlights?!
anyways. we saw a kitty XD it followed us around for a bit ____<
Well. We followed the recipe EXACTLY. And the first batch came out looking like…….
a blob of melted butter.
*looks at each other* huh?
So we dump in some more flour… yeah yeah yeah.
STILL nasty blob. tastes decent…if not for that NASTY NASTY BUTTER BLOB.
His dad ended up salvaging the situation. Both our parents came over and stared at the cookies and said incredulously ‘Are these COOKED?!?!?! o____O” ‘
Yes they were.
So, the next morning, I pick up the salvaged cookies, and bring them to school(half asleep)
I didn’t even get to TRY a cookie, since I only had like….9.
~~~CHEM CLASS~~~
*ohkay you can eat your cookies now*
So we compare cookie failures. Everybody fails at cooking apparently. LOL
I take a bite. And my tooth cracks. Well not exactly, but the cookie has teeth marks. No Joke. I threw it at the table, and I swear the table got a dent. I’m glad my Chem class has a sense of humor. We all laughed like hell.
I guess praying to the kitchen gods before cooking doesn’t always work neh?
Board Meeting Conclusions: Many groups had sporadic data due to the quality of the cameras used to r
Board Meeting Conclusions:
Many groups had sporadic data due to the quality of the cameras used to record each clip. The quality judges how many frames will be recorded per unit of time and if the camera had poor quality, there were often gaps in frames which forced us to extrapolate on our data collection.
Positive quadrant of the velocity graph represents the acceleration decreasing (getting slower) while the negative quadrant of the velocity graph represents the acceleration increasing (getting faster).
All four models we have learned are needed in some way to represent the motion of our clips.
The acceleration (based on the slope of the velocity versus time models) is very close to the force of gravity which makes sense because gravity is the only force acting on the object while it is in motion. Because of the inconsistency of the frames and the errors in our data due to that inconsistency, most groups’ acceleration was close to the earth’s gravity but not the same exact force.
Based on our class discussion and Hewitt’s explanation of vector and scalar quantities, velocity vectors, and components of vectors we are able to conclude that our models are similar to that of the Vector Quantity. The vector quantity is said to require both magnitude and direction for a complete description which parallels our data’s movement vertically and horizontally. We were also able to prove that velocity vectors can be drawn as two perpendicular lines representing velocities that are not parallel (like our data) creating the result of two velocities (better known as components of vectors). This was demonstrated by one of the groups’ motion map below:
Hmm it’s gonna be the longest day~ I’m going today… Wish everything gonna be alrite.
The reservation for hotel n car was done couple of day ago.
I’m going to have my first 12 hours flight + 2 hours transit. There’s gonna be 17 hours time difference with Seoul. And I’ll be arrive at 3pm local time…
Let’s try to calculate how many hours I can enjoy in this day…
- 18 hours in seoul
- 14 hours for flight (include transit)
- 9 hours in Canada
Hohoho…so.. I’m going to have 41 hours for today… (24h + 17h time difference~) Cool~
Never think about something like this ^_^
Well the way back gonna be the shortest day for me kkk
I’ve checked the weather and google said it’s gonna be around -11 hohoho…
And finally after more than 1.5 years living in here.. I bought a boot.
Clothes preparation (checked ^_^)
A bit worry with the time difference, cos i don’t wanna be sleepy on the day I present.
But let’s see how it’s gonna be…
And it’s gonna be my first time to visit english-speaking country hohoho~~
Wish everything gonna be alrite….
Canada….I’m coming~~~
Yes, indeed I keep them in line and let them know when it’s time to come inside. She has been a wonderful pet. We got her from the shelter. We think she is mixed with Shepard and maybe pitt bull , definitely lab. I was surprised to see those brindle legs turning silver too. I wasn’t to sure if we were going to make it when she was a puppy. She loved to eat my things, hummmm, could not figure out why it was my things when my son would leave his shoes out. I guess she loved me more…..Once we got past all that she is just the best ever and has the sweetest disposition ever. I Love ya Girl…..
So very loyal. I see the herder in this one for sure. I have two other dogs that have been a part of my family for several years. The other two dogs are a lab mix we rescued and the American Pitt Bull terrier. The Sheltie keeps watch over the lab and the terrier. I gave the sheltie a job of checking the birds. They get chased and barked at as they fly away. Not to worry they never get even close to each other. Always wanting to please. We talk to each other, only Sheltie’s lingo is ER, Huh, AH. This is the sweetest little baby. When it’s time to retire for the evening she goes over and barks at the lab it’s a ritual. The terrier has already retired on her own ahead of everyone else. Always up and ready to be my loyal companion. This baby is three and I have never heard a growl out of her mouth. It has to be just her demeanor not a mean bone in her body. LOL, It would be neat if we could discern people that way. She gets along great with the other breeds. From time to time I see her sleeping side by side with either of the other two.
Doug Finke was supposed to be podcasting from Microsoft PDC, this was what we heard.
Lots of discussion about ORM and Entity Framework vs. nHibernate with this conclusion.
Folks are happy that MS has open sourced the “.NET Micro Framework”. I met the announcement with “What the *!?*&^%# is the .Net Micro Framework”. Read the link and you’ll find out.
.Net Meetup – I went and really enjoyed it.
NYFLEX Meetup.
There was a bit of interest in this story of Madoff’s programmers being arrested. The consensus is that programming for financial companies is rarely illegal, so don’t worry friends.
As always, the biggest buzz in my section of the office is hiring. As usual, we’re looking for UX, C#/.Net, WPF, Silverlight & Flex, and Java. I heard talk of OLAP too. Some standard position info is here. You can email jobs@lab49.com if you’re interested and you qualify. The bar is pretty high, but they let me in so you might get lucky too.
Friday came pretty quickly and just when I was thinking it seemed a little subdued this week and was wondering when the next Friday Seminar will be, surprise pizza showed up and made my day (thanks James). The whole office (not too many in attendance this Friday) ate happily, though perceptions of quality did vary.
Probably will be pretty slow again next week with the holiday.
Heard @Lab
One guy is hard core because he uses the command line in SVN (don’t laugh, he fixed my project in 2 minutes). Another guy blows him away, he uses Chrome and doesn’t even use bookmarks.
More
World Bank data now indexed by Google
The World Bank also released an API earlier this year.
Forgot to mention LispNYC last week. I’m going to try to attend these in future.
The data as we know it is represented by the following photo and statements below that were concluded at the end of class on 11/19.
Red Graph #1 represents the position of the basketball along the y-axis (vertical movement) while Red Graph #2 represents the position of the basketball along the x-axis (horizontal movement). Blue Graph #1 represents the velocity of the basketball in Red Graph #1 while Blue Graph #2 represents the velocity of the basketball in Red Graph #2. These graphs allow us to conclude that the vertical movement (linear) of the basketball is that of a constant velocity model. while the horizontal movement (parabolic) of the basketball is that of a constant acceleration model.
While the basketball is in the hands of the person, the free body diagram consists of the ball (system), the force of gravity (downward arrow) and the force of the throw (diagonal arrow) however, when the ball is in motion, the only force acting on the ball is that of gravity (downward arrow). Finally, when the ball is caught, the forces acting on it are the force of gravity (downward arrow) and the force of the hand (upward arrow).
The motion map we came up with consists of two parts. The red arrows pointed to the right represent the constant acceleration of the basketball and the red arrows pointing downward represent the force of gravity that is applied to the ball while it is in motion. The blue arrows are congruent to one another and represent the horizontal motion of the basketball.
