Her sentiment is well placed — after the tragic events in Newtown, CT this fall many pundits have called for an examination of the stigma attached to mental illness and a closer attention to spotting, treating and offering insurance coverage for mental illness in children.

Gaga fans who are interested can catch Mother Monster in Canada starting on January 11; then back in the U.S.A. from January 14-March 20.

The Internet is currently blazing with rumours that the song, initially believed to have been a collaboration between Lady GaGa and Azealia Banks, “Ratchet” will act as the dual comeback song for Beyoncé and Lady GaGa’s new albums with Rihanna and Azealia featured on the track also.

It’s safe to say that all four artist’s fan bases are going crazy on social networks right now after a picture was posted cluing up the four acts’ hints of a song together. This song could be this decade’s answer to Lady Marmalade and will set Azealia, Beyoncé and GaGa’s year up perfectly with new albums being released by all three artists.

As a devoted fan of Rihanna, Azealia Banks and Beyoncé – and an ex-’Little Monster’ – I am very excited as the prospect of this collaboration happening. Mostly because of the thought of the performances and the music video, and one performance in particular – Beyoncé is headlining the Superbowl in February (the same month Azealia’s album is released) so it would be the perfect opportunity to debut the song with all 3 acts joining the Crazy In Love songstress on the field.

I am 150% on board with this, and if it is true then it is the best marketing strategy for a group of artists to come up with in a LONG time.

Did I mention the Grammy Awards are in February, also?

With just 3 days to go until the new year begins, it’s safe to say I am excited for what the music industry will present to us in 2013.

2012 was quite a versatile year in music with many unexpected breakout hits - Somebody That I Used To Know being one of them - and everybody had their time. Surprisingly, despite new releases from the biggest mainstream artists the charts weren’t solely dominated by one act.

However, I expect this to change in 2013 with the big names in mainstream music returning with new releases with the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in sight. Boybands will take a backseat as the solo females strut back onto the scene, and we may also see girl groups be more successful as girl power takes over.

ONES TO WATCH: Miley Cyrus, Big Sean, Azealia Banks, The Saturdays

Beyoncé: 2013 will be Beyoncé’s year. Will it be overhyped? Yes. Will it redeem the singer from the disastrous 4 era? Yes. Beyoncé’s campaign is already underway to support her fifth solo release and it’s not even January 1 yet. Whilst the Crazy In Love singer is keeping things under wraps with the new material, Mrs Carter has secured many promotional spots to showcase the music which will ensure her new album the #1 spot. After signing a lucrative $50 million deal with the soft drink giant, Pepsi will sponsor the Dreamgirls actress’ creative projects throughout this next era – for example, the worldwide tour which will already be set out for the last half of 2013. Following in Madonna’s footsteps, Beyoncé will also be kicking off the promotional trail by headlining the Superbowl‘s halftime show on February 3 with an exclusive HBO documentary airing two weeks later on February 16. I expect the first single to premiere a few days before the Superbowl performance and album to be released early March.

Azealia Banks blew up in 2012 with her monstrous single 212. Catching everyone’s attention with her fast-paced, clever rhymes and the line “Ima ruin you, cunt”, Azealia has released an EP and a mixtape both successful enough for the rapper to perform a sold-out UK tour. However, in 2013 we will finally get to hear the Van Vogue vixen’s debut album Broke With Expensive Taste after being delayed twice. Released on February 12, Azealia will carry the year through with gigs around the world promoting the record and putting many of the tracks out as singles. With another contagious track similar to 212 in its catchiness, Azealia could be onto a winner. Look out for collaborations with Lady GaGa and Kanye West.

Lady GaGa will be returning to the music scene with a brand new album in 2013, presumably later on in the year than her peer Beyoncé with eyes on a spring release for her new upbeat material to become the summer anthem. I think GaGa’s label will make her shelve the urban tracks such as Cake (Like Lady GaGa) allowing the album to be more reminiscent of The Fame and The Fame Monster for the Alejandro singer’s popularity to rise after the public losing interest throughout the Born This Way era. Hopefully the records won’t sound forced as everything GaGa has said about the next album sounds just as pretentious as it did last time, and that’s why I don’t care for her any longer – praying for an album full of Bad Romance, Telephone and LoveGame. A Terry Richardson-directed documentary will hit theatres in 2013, probably not long after the album release to keep her profile afloat.

Britney Spears: Following her stint as a judge on X Factor USA, Femme Fatale songstress Britney Spears will return to what she does best by releasing the best pop songs of the year. Despite the perception being that Britney has spent the last year dedicating herself to her role as a mentor to contestants and being a mother to her children, Britney was spotted visiting studios throughout the last quarter of this year. It’s known that Britney does hit the studio for fun sometimes, however when she was seen in the studio with Rodney Jerkins – better known as Darkchild – in an X Factor episode, the process of album #8 was pretty much confirmed as far as her fans were concerned. Looking at an Autumn or Winter release, Britney will not return to the X Factor as a judge but will use her old role as a promotional spot performing on the show. The record will probably feature another Will.i.Am collaboration, but will take Britney to an unexpected sound whilst paying homage to her very own Blackout record. The mastermind behind Usher’s Climax, Elijah Blake, has also began writing for our very own Princess of Pop. Hopefully Britney will take pen to paper again to give her next effort a more personal element to it than we experienced with Femme Fatale.

Nicki Minaj: The Young Money mogul will release her third studio album, the fourth of the Pink Friday series, entitled Pink Friday: The Pinkprint that will see her return to solely hip-hop and R&B music after the rapper vowed that she will not be releasing any more pop music. The album won’t be as successful without a lead single as infectious as Starships but it will showcase Nicki doing what she does best, and Nicki will tour with the record.

Big Sean will experience more international success with his second studio album Hall of Fame and will be the underdog of rap in 2013 with consistent singles that will sit nicely in the Top 10 before he drops another A$$ on us nearer the end of the year.

Jennifer Lopez  will release her eighth studio album, which will contain all flavours of the music she has released. The pop songs we’ve heard from her in recent years will be minimal as J-Lo will return to urban music reminiscent of her Ja Rule days and the Latin sound of her debut album On the 6.

The Saturdays are ones to watch as they attempt to crack America as they release their first album across the pond, their fourth in the UK. Leading the campaign is the infectious Sean Paul-assisted single What Abouts Us and the band’s very own E! reality show Chasing the Saturdays which will introduce America to Mollie, Rochelle, Frankie, Vanessa and Una. Hopefully the girls will experience some success in the USA with their efforts, although they will have to be cautious not to abandon their UK fanbase as they could easily get their first UK #1 single this time round.

Justin Bieber will kick off the year with the Believe Acoustic album and will record his fourth studio album whilst on the road touring to be released in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Miley Cyrus will release her In The Zone with the urban-infused pop album that showcases the mature sound to match her recent makeover. The lead single will be one of the tracks she did with Pharrell and it will blow up after weeks of airplay, plastering her as the new sex symbol of pop with her raunchy new sound.

No Doubt will release their follow-up to Push & Shove that will reintroduce the band to the public as we knew them giving them the right comeback they missed this year. Leadwoman Gwen Stefani and co will deliver infectious singles that will have the same impact as Hey Baby did back in 2001.

Fergie will return with her second solo record. I’m scared to comment on this one as her 2006 debut The Duchess was one of the best pop albums of the decade and the Fergalicious singer had a consistently successful era, so I can only hope for the same level of content this time round and in return the public will react the same. I hope her new sound isn’t too similar to The Black Eyed Peas’ AutoTuned dance music, and is the perfect follow-up to her flawless debut.

Girls Aloud will probably take another break after their reunion tour, Ten, is over allowing Cheryl to continue with her solo streak working with more US producers allowing her to become noticed in the US. However, we would adore for the reunion to change all 5 girl’s minds and for them to get right back into the studio for one last full-length album and another tour.

Rihanna may finally take the break she needs once the Diamonds World Tour is over. Before then, she will continue releasing singles from Unapologetic showcasing the more upbeat tracks featured on the album following the minor success of Stay (outside of the UK). I would love to see Jump and Right Now receive the single treatment, however I can see Nobody’s Business being released instead to fuel the headlines over the Roc Nation singer and Chris Brown.

Ciara will finally release One Woman Army to critical success but will experience minor chart success and poor sales, unless she has something really good up her sleeves. I still don’t understand how it went so bad for Ciara so quickly, she was the ‘it girl’ of 2004 and by 2007 she was irrelevant despite being consistent in her work.

Kelis will release her sixth studio album and will see her return to R&B music whilst maintaining the trance influence of her 2010 record Flesh Tone. Hopefully Kelis’ new material performs better on the charts as Flesh Tone was perfectly consistent and brilliant yet was vastly discarded.

We will also get important releases from Avril Lavigne, Shakira, Usher and American Idol judge Mariah Carey as all four artists hope to experience more success than they did with their last efforts. I can see Avril, Shakira and Usher having a successful year with a good lead single and consistent material and promotion, although I don’t think Mariah’s new album will perform drastically different to her last few albums.

Eve may or may not release her make-it-or-break-it album Lip Lock, which has been infamously delayed since 2007. And the same goes for Missy

Gaga has been sparse on the details about ARTPOP, announcing only the album title and some vague ideas about the concept behind it. We do know she’s working with her longtime production partner RedOne, as well as EDM artist Zedd, DJ White Shadow and her Born This Way Tour music director Fernando Garibay.

Selena Gomez & the Scene – Album Title TBA

Forget her on again/off again bf Bieber. Selena is heading to the studio to make some new music. The big news was broken on Twitter by Ryan Seacrest while the two were in Texas, opening up Seacrest Studios in the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Selena’s been on a musical hiatus since January 2012, so her return is very, very long awaited.

Phoenix – Album Title TBA
April 2013

Everyone’s favorite French band are slated to release their first new album since 2009′s breakout Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Details are scant, but the band did take to Twitter for a little teaser in December.

Akon – Stadium

We haven’t heard from Akon in HOW LONG? It was 2006? He better be coming back with a banger then, right? Don’t you worry — he’s got David Guetta, RedOne, will.i.am, Calvin Harris, Dr. Luke, Afrojack and The-Dream on this one. Among many others. If he can’t manage to make your booty shake with all the EDM help in the world then we’ve spiraled off into an alternate universe.

Here’s what we know: this will be good, old fashioned style Mariah. She’s pairing up again with Jermaine Dupri and L.A. Reid. This will also be some new style Mariah making hits, as she’s pairing up with producers/songwriters Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West) and Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, Ke$ha). She released “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” earlier in 2012 but with the big lag and all the names attached, we’re thinking MiMi decided to give the album an overhaul before final release.

According to the report, Swift donated over $4 million to the Country Hall of Fame Museum, alone along with various other charities, while Underwood donated portions from her “Blown Away” tour ticket sales (as she announced to the crowd), as well as raising $350,000 for her hometown, and working with The Humane Society, and PETA.

Gaga started the Born This Way Foundation with a personal $1.2M donation and donated another $1M to victims of Superstorm Sandy, which devastated her hometown of New York City.

Also on the list were Demi Lovato, for her work with anti-bullying campaigns; Jay-Z and Beyonce for their work fundraising for their respective charities; P!nk for her work with PETA; and Justin Bieber for his work with his Believe charity and Pencils of Promise.

It can’t hurt that she’s been promoting it on all the morning shows, some I’ve never even heard of. ”Love and War” is a nice track but I was looking forward to the “Hot Sugar” and “Get Your Life”. That Vincent Herbert sure does know what he is doing, so I’ll wait.

Dancing onto the stage as the band started playing “Gimme Shelter,” she belted out the female vocal part originally recorded by Merry Clayton on 1969′s Let It Bleed. At their recent shows, that part has been taken by R&B singer Mary J. Blige and British siren Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine.

But Gaga seemed to be channeling Janis Joplin and Tina Turner in her singing and stage presence; her wild dancing recalled the ’60s more than the modern moves seen in her own music videos.

Dressed in a skin-tight black and gold catsuit and sporting a long thick mane, she had as much chemistry with Mick Jagger as any of his duet partners in recent memory; they were practically nose-to-nose by the end of the song.

And she didn’t leave after her performance – the cameras returned to her a few times throughout the rest of the pay-per-view broadcast, revealing her dancing furiously and singing along with the rest of the fans. 

Given the events of the past day, “Gimme Shelter” took on a more chilling tone, with Jagger and Gaga both singing “Children, it’s just a shot away.” Recognizing the tragic and new significance of the lyrics, after the song ended Jagger sent “Love and condolences” to everyone affected by the shooting in Connecticut the day before.

The next guests were guitar slingers John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr. who joined for “bluestime” – the band’s code for playing a blues cover. They performed Freddie King’s classic “Goin’ Down” with all four guitarists – Mayer, Clark, and Keith Richards and Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones – trading off leads.

Taylor, who replaced original Stones guitarist Brian Jones in 1969 and remained with the band through 1974, joined the band onstage, as he has at their recent “50 And Counting” shows, for a run through the band’s epic “Midnight Rambler.” Taylor told Billboard in a recent interview that he and the band were rehearsing another lengthy number – “Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’” – but, unfortunately, that didn’t make Saturday night’s set.  

It was the other guests, though, that really showed the clout that The Rolling Stones still have, fifty years into their career. The first guest of the night was Lady Gaga, arguably the biggest pop star in the world at the moment.  She also seemed to be the most enthusiastic guest (although there was no lack of enthusiasm from anyone). Dancing onto the stage as the band started playing “Gimme Shelter,” she belted out the female vocal part originally recorded by Merry Clayton on 1969′s Let It Bleed. At their recent shows, that part has been taken by R&B singer Mary J. Blige and British siren Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine. 

But Gaga seemed to be channeling Janis Joplin and Tina Turner in her singing and stage presence; her wild dancing recalled the ’60s more than the modern moves seen in her own music videos.  Dressed in skin-tight black and gold catsuit and sporting a long thick mane (likely a wig), she had as much chemistry with Mick Jagger as any of his duet partners in recent memory; they were practically nose-to-nose by the end of the song.  And she didn’t leave after her performance – the cameras returned to her a few times throughout the rest of the pay-per-view broadcast, revealing her dancing furiously and singing along with the rest of the fans. 

Given the events of the past day, “Gimme Shelter” took on a more chilling tone, with Jagger and Gaga both singing “Children, it’s just a shot away.” Recognizing the tragic and new significance of the lyrics, after the song ended Jagger sent “Love and condolences” to everyone affected by the shooting in Connecticut the day before.  

The next guests were guitar slingers John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr. who joined for “bluestime” – the band’s code for playing a blues cover.  They performed Freddie King’s classic “Goin’ Down” with all four guitarists – Mayer, Clark, Keith Richards and Ron Wood - trading off leads. 

Next up: multiple-GRAMMY-nominated rock band The Black Keys. They were a surprising choice:  earlier this year, in an interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Dan Auerbach said “I never listened to any British blues, I couldn’t stand it.”  The writer of the story, Brian Hiatt, noted that Auerbach “Finds a lot of classic rock boring and ‘too normal.’” However, there was no evidence of that as they joined the Stones for a cover of Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?”

Jagger said that he thought it was the first time they’d played that song in public. It was probably one of the few times that the Stones have had two drummers on stage, as Black Keys skinsman Pat Carney played along with Charlie Watts). 

Jagger joked that some of their guests came from far away to make the shows on their current tour, “But this next one just had to walk here,” referring, of course, to Bruce Springsteen.  

Strutting on stage with his sunburst Telecaster, Springsteen was in his full-on Otis Redding soul preacher mode.  Although his voice was a bit hoarse, he seemed to be having a blast trading vocal lines with Jagger and guitar leads with Richards and Wood on “Tumbling Dice.” The song seemed like a perfect choice for New Jersey’s favorite son, and he’d be well advised to consider adding this to his sets with The E Street Band for their 2013 tour. 

At the end of the night, the band took their bows with their support musicians – bassist Daryl Jones, keyboardist Chuck Leavell, singers Lisa Fischer and Bernard Fowler and saxophonists Tim Reis and Bobby Keys, along with Clark, Mayer and Taylor.  Then, the band – Jagger, Richards, Watts and Wood – remained for a final bow, keeping Taylor with them.  In the aforementioned Billboard interview, Taylor noted he’d be “150%” willing to play more shows with the Stones.  With rumors of more dates next year circulating, fans must are surely hoping to see him more often, and for more than one song per night.

Downton Abbey creator and writer Julian Fellowes will write the film, which has no release date as of yet.

In the interview, Barbra also revealed that she wakes up at 6:25 am every morning so she can start trading stocks when the markets first open. Her work attire? Her nightgown of course.

And as for getting into a car with Barbra (Seth Rogen has this honor in The Guilt Trip), don’t expect her to be the one who takes the wheel.  The legend admits she hasn’t driven since the ‘90s after one particular incident.

“I was driving one day, and I found myself driving up the off-ramp of a highway,” she explained.

We’re pretty sure that’s what chauffeurs are for.

This is not the first time a music superstar has aligned themselves with a big name brand. Lady Gaga was named Creative Director in 2010 for Polaroid and Bey’s hubby, Jay-Z joined with Microsoft to promote his 2010 memoir, Decoded.

But with Christmas only two weeks away, we think she should put this promo money to good use.

She could add the money to her baby girl, Blue Ivy’s future college fund or invest in a luxury Tribeca loft for the little tot. Never too soon to get into real estate, we say.

For the man who has everything, we suggest she buys Jay the digital sweater, designed by fellow rapper Sean “P Diddy” Combs. The sleeve of the fleece pullover features a 2.8 inch HD screen that plays your favorite video content while you walk around. She isn’t the only guest who has been asked to join the band on stage.

The Stones are on a roll with special guests at their “50 and Counting” concerts, and the list just keeps growing. The band has just announced that in addition to Gaga, Bruce Springsteen and The Black Keys will guest at the mini-tour’s final show on Saturday (December 15) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

“We’re excited these extraordinary artists, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys, have agreed to help celebrate our 50th Anniversary as we share the night live with our fans all over the world,” the Stones said on their official website. “Now the fun begins of trying to figure out the best songs to perform together.”

If the band’s recent shows are any indication, Gaga could be dueting “Gimme Shelter” with Jagger, as the tour’s two other female guests – Mary J. Blige and Florence Welch – both have. As for Springsteen, he’s covered Stones songs like early single “The Last Time” in his shows, so perhaps that’s an indication of his direction. The bluesy, fuzzy swagger of the Black Keys would fit in with much of the Stones’ classic material, so that’s practically toss-up. 

It’s little surprise that the Stones would nab such epic forces in the music world for the show that’s being broadcast via pay-per-view on cable/satellite worldwide starting at 9 p.m. ET. The TV special, which is also available via web/mobile streaming, is titled One More Shot and produced by GRAMMY producer Ken Ehrlich. E! will air a pre-show for the show starting at 8 p.m. ET on December 15th, live from the Prudential Center.

The band played Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center this weekend, where Jagger referred to Jay-Z as “Jay Zed.”

If the band’s recent shows are any indication, Gaga could be dueting “Gimme Shelter” with Jagger, as the tour’s two other female guests – Mary J. Blige and Florence Welch – both have. As for Springsteen, he’s covered Stones songs like early single “The Last Time” in his shows, so perhaps that’s an indication of his direction. The bluesy, fuzzy swagger of the Black Keys would fit in with much of the Stones’ classic material, so that’s practically toss-up.

It’s little surprise that the Stones would nab such epic forces in the music world for the show that’s being broadcast via pay-per-view on cable/satellite worldwide starting at 9 p.m. ET. The TV special, which is also available via web/mobile streaming, is titled One More Shot and produced by GRAMMY producer Ken Ehrlich. E! will air a pre-show for the show starting at 8 p.m. ET on December 15th, live from the Prudential Center.

The band played Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center this weekend, where Jagger referred to Jay-Z as “Jay Zed.”

She isn’t the only guest who has been asked to join the band on stage.

The Stones are on a roll with special guests at their “50 and Counting” concerts, and the list just keeps growing. The band has just announced that in addition to Gaga, Bruce Springsteen and The Black Keys will guest at the mini-tour’s final show on Saturday (December 15) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Before the Stones get to their final show this year, they’ve got big gigs all week. They were recently added to the 12.12.12 concert for Hurricane Sandy at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where they’ll join just about every other touring classic rock great.  Jagger and Richards will also present the “Top Ten List” on The Late Show With David Letterman the night before, Tuesday, December 11. 

Then on Thursday (December 13), they’ll have their first Newark show. No word on the special guests for that performance, but the band’s site has been announcing those guests ahead of time. So far, those guests have included: former Stones members Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mary J. Blige, Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) and Gary Clark Jr.
