Two statements were made at Lake Stevens.  On the men’s side, Ironman veteran Aussie Chris Legh made his statement with a race best run to win over Tim O’Donnell by 20 seconds, proving that older doesn’t necessarily mean slower. Trevor Wurtele came in exactly 1 minute behind Legh for third.

The second statement comes from O’Donnell’s girlfriend, 2010 Kona champion Mirinda Carfrae who did not let up on her run even though she had a substantial cushion, finishing 11:50 over Tenille Hoogland and eighth overall.   MacKenzie Madison finished nearly 4 minutes later in third. Carfrae has had some mixed results as of late, but by charging hard, she raced the men and made the statement that her Kona prep is going exactly as planned and that she will be racing for the win come October.
