At the 31st ‘Volkswagen GTI’ meet at Lake Wothersee, one of the largest tuning events held for VAG products, Skoda unveiled its Citigo DJ concept car and showcased once again the Citigo Rally. Both these creations are based on the recently launched Citigo compact car – one of three mechanically identical triplets, the other two being VW’s Up and Seat’s Mii.

The Skoda Citigo DJ has an open stage aft of its B-pillars, and is equipped with a 100,000 Watt sound system and mixing deck. For the concert at Wothersee, the Citigo DJ was used by DJ’s to perform live to the audience.

For those more interested in popping exhausts, flying gravel wide-arch body kits, there was also the Citigo Rally present. This was a rally tuned version of Skoda city car, and had the obligatory gaping air intake and rear tea-tray spoiler. While as much of a concept car as the Citigo DJ, I really hope the ‘Rally’ is considered for series production in some watered down form. It looks amusingly aggressive and just ‘right’ in the same way that a Fiat Panda 100hp achieves this. With Britain being a huge market for hot and warm hatches, surely a car such as the Citigo Rally could find a loyal and enthusiastic customer base on these shores.
