So imagine you’re a millionaire. You’re looking for a high-end supercar, like the Veyron. You find that everything in that class is a bit slow though. So, of course, you commission someone to build something even better.

That’s exactly what’s happened here. Tuning company Underground Racing was commissioned by a customer named Jonah to build a twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo. The result? 1500hp at the wheels (Though it does require the use of VP C16 racing fuel). Compare that to the 1287hp the Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero has at the crank, and you begin to realize just how fast this thing is. You may also bring up the Keating TKR as an argument, which has 1800hp at the crank. Now, there’s no official figure on the brake horsepower for this, but considering the drivetrain loss for AWD cars is about 25%, this should put out around 1875bhp, 75 more than the Keating. Admittedly, this is only an estimate, but there’s 75bhp of leeway before the Keating has the advantage, so I reckon this puts out more power.

The owner, Jonah, managed to clear the quarter mile in this in less than 10 seconds at a speed of over 160mph, and keep in mind that he isn’t a professional racing driver, hasn’t been to the drag strip in over a decade, and this was the first time he drove the car. Give a proper driver some time to practice in it, and I reckon this could clear the quarter mile in less than 9 seconds. Compare that to the Shelby Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo, which did the quarter mile in 9.90 seconds at 144mph with a proper driver in it, and you yet again see the sheer madness of this car.

Besides this insane engine, there have been some other changes. It’s got new wheels and new tires, the rear lights have been tinted, and a spoiler has been added. This may have come with the original car though, as it looks a bit like the Superleggera spoiler, so maybe the base car was a Superleggera. By the looks of the pictures, the car has also been lowered slightly. Details are a bit sparse, so I don’t know whether or not they modified the suspension, though I’d sure hope they did, as 1500whp with suspension intended for about 500bhp is insanity.

The engine is hooked up to a six-speed transmission of some sort. As far I can tell from the video below (Official video released by Underground Racing), the twin-turbo kit is now available for anyone who owns a Gallardo.

From the looks of this clip from the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race in Germany, it looks like there were a lot of wrecks, but that just could be the editing. Given the amount of carnage, I was surprised to see there weren’t any flames. Hell, I half-expected pit lane to look like a beach full of bonfires. Kidding. Anyway, while there was definitely some chaos on the course, Team Lamborghini Munchen managed another first place win, which makes three this season. Top Gear is most assuredly back! In the 14^th series opener, the boys went on a journey to Romania to try and find the best road in the world, there was a test between a Mercedes S63 AMG and a BMW 760LI and the actor Eric Bana dropped in.

I think the surprise of the night came when I found out that Eric Bana is Australian! I had no idea that he wasn’t an American actor. Well, I suppose that just goes to show how good he is. Also, he is a giant fan of motorsport and races GT cars regularly. It even came out that he has not taken a movie project because he would rather go racing. His prowess on the track really came through when it came to his lap in the reasonably priced Suzuki Liana. Even though it was extremely wet and even though he missed a gear change, he still managed to put in the fastest wet lap of all time, which is damn impressive. All of his lines were spot on and you could tell from the video that he was going to be fast. All in all, a very good lap from a surprisingly Australian person.

The test round the track that took place involved James, for once, testing out some hot super sedans. The Mercedes S63 AMG and the BMW 760LI both feature huge engines, a 6.2 liter V8 in the Merc and a 6.0 liter, twin-turbo V12 in the BMW. Both make generous amounts of power and torque, but the BMW is faster in both a straight line and around a track. This surprised me because I would have thought that the BMW would have been the softer of the two, given that the AMG is usually thought to be a brutish sort of car, and the BMW 7 series generally isn’t thought to be all that sporty. But the Bimmer was better able to put the power to the ground without completely lighting up the back tires around every corner like the AMG. And though the BMW won the battle, it was still decided that both cars were wastes of time and money because they are overpriced and overpowered and don’t know what they really are. They are supposed to be luxury limos, but also try to be sports cars, and that just dilutes them from being truly one or the other. And I have to say, I agree with their verdict on this one. If I want a sports car, I’ll go buy a Porsche or something and if I want a big luxury saloon, I’ll get a Jag, but I don’t need them to be put together and then pay more than I would for both of them combined with the one car.

On to the main event now. In what can only be described as a hair-brained scheme to find a road they could have simply gone to right off the bat, the boys traveled through the country or Romania in search of the Transfagarasan Highway. This is the highest, and most dramatic paved road in the country and looks very similar to the Stelvio Pass that they visited a few series ago. Of course, it wasn’t just about the road though. The cars that they brought were supposed to be the best grand touring roadsters in the world, and so Clarkson brought an Aston Martin Volante, Hammond showed up in a Ferrari California and James brought a Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder. They then bickered and did what they do best by driving around, getting lost and competing in challenges that don’t really settle anything at all. Of course, since they were in Romania, it was only natural that they should see a ton of Dacia Sanderos. For those who don’t know, James is obsessed with this car. He feels it is a cheap car with no frills that is actually pretty good. So, Clarkson bought him one. And, as happens with all their gifts, you just knew that it had to get ruined somehow. This time, a large semi-truck backed into it and completely destroyed it after James had parked it “conveniently.” I know it was set up, but it was still great to see, because I think that James actually did like that car. After that, the boys followed May and, of course, got lost out in the Romanian countryside where James had a fender bender with his Lambo. But, after all of that nonsense and tomfoolery, they finally reached the road, and it turned out to be an epic thing. Clarkson even commented that the road was a combination of all the best corners of all the best race tracks in the world, and there is no greater compliment than that.

Overall, the episode was a good one for the start of the series and it can, hopefully, only go up from here. I wish I knew what was coming up on the show next Sunday, but they did not tell the audience. I’m assuming that it will be a big surprise. I will say that the one car I am hoping to see on this series is the new Noble M600. I want to see what it can do around the track, because it is supposed to be devastatingly fast.

Even discounting the hardware in the Giovanna Wheels booth—which was so dark I couldn’t get decent shots of anything—there were plenty of killer exotics at SEMA this year. As you can imagine, a car has to be pretty special to get attention here, because while a stock Lambo or Ferrari might turn tons of heads on the street, in this sea of insane customization, a machine has to be pretty special to stand out—regardless of its pedigree. All of these machines jumped out at me, but only one of them can win the exotics category. So what should it be, Pagani’s Zonda R, Gumpert’s Apollo, Devon’s GTX, Underground Racing’s twin-turbo Gallardo or Lexus’ LF-A? Vote now!

Today my driving instructor suggested it was time to book my driving test, woop (years of procrastinating about sitting my test and now I’m almost there, best get shopping!) Esse homem que dá nome a Gallardo LP 550-2 “Valentino Balboni”, é piloto de testes da marca a 40 anos. Um emprego que é sonho de muitos ( e eu estou no meio dessa lista). Como ele diz no vídeo abaixo e em outros textos e vídeo sobre ele e  a marca italiana, Balboni é provavelmente o homem que possui a maior quantidade de quilômetros rodados em Lamborghini’s.

Sim!  Valentino Balboni merece o seu respeito por exercer um trabalho por quatro décadas e ainda não perder a essência de dirigir esses super carros.

No vídeo abaixo ele fala de muitas coisas como entender o carro entre outros, mas ele é um símbolo da Lamborghini que possui monumento em sua homenagem que alem de majestoso é bem rápido.

The annual SEMA show took place Nov 2nd-6th here in good ol’ Las Vegas. I’ve been attending this show since (from what i can remember) my senior year of high school, which means this is my 7th year attending!! Obviously with the economy the show wasn’t as large as say 2 years ago, but had enough to keep most people interested!! I skipped the 4×4, car audio and whatever was in the North Hall from an outside glance looked like a mix of detailing products to knock-off 3rd party parts/accessories. (which I have no interest at all in) There were a few new announcements in Formula D such as Vegas will be end of august vs early July, NOS energy drink being the official FD energy drink for 2010, and promise of a 2010 RedBull World Drift Challenge! Vegas in August hopefully helps with the heat, but end of August isn’t THAT much different. Also new cars for the 2010 season!! Hankook made a KILLER debut of Conrad Grunewald.’s new 2010 Camaro and Robbie Nishida’s RWD converted VQ 2010 Nissan GTR!!!

Forrest Wang will be piloting a SC430 for Drift Emporium, and Michael Essa in a 08′ BMW 335i w/turbo M3 powerplant for GSR Autosport! 2009 seemed like the year for Nissan GTR’s and Chevy’s new Camaro! Wheel-wise, Volk’s G2 were on everything you could think of. I wish it had TE concave-look! It looks too much like a factory “touring/sport” upgrade. There were a handful of cars that stood out. Pagani’s full carbon fiber body Zonda-R was one for sure! We’re looking at over $1.5million USD!!

Also Lexus had a beautiful satin black LFA on display. This is Lexus’s built to order 10 cylinder 550 hp sex machine!

Mobil One had this beautiful twin turbo Lamborghini Gallardo on display also sporting the matte/satin black!!

Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) had its mid-engine v8 Hyundai Genesis coupe on display. The fabrication work is top notch! Whats neat about this is that the front firewall has not been modified! Does this mean we might be able to see this in FD one day!? I wouldn’t count on it!

SEMA to a lot of people (including myself) usually means tons of walking, and tons of drinking! All I know is that I’m glad its finally over!! I had tons of fun, and would like to thank all the people I was with for making it one of the more enjoyable SEMA shows to date!!

I ended up shooting more models this time around because I usually don’t for some reason. Hmm….I’m not sure why, but I did shoot the entire show with flash, and I think I liked the results way more than last years set.

The new McLaren MP4-12C is on the front cover of Automobile Magazine for the month of November.

I first heard rumors of this car coming into production a few months ago, I saw photos of it, and heard of speculated performance stats.

My first impression of this news was excitement. Although the car did not look quite astonishing, it had a unique image to it. It is the predecessor to the McLaren F1, so naturally, this thing has to be ground breaking, revolutionary, a super car’s super car.

The more I read about the MP4-12C, the more hesitant I became to place it upon a pedestal of glory in automotive history. It almost seemed like I was reading about any other super car out there, a Lamborghini Gallardo or Murcielago, a Ferrari F430, or a Koenigsegg CCX. The MP4-12C can just get in line behind all these cars. There is nothing new or exciting about the McLaren that those cars can’t do. I think that McLaren dropped the ball with the MP4-12C. What they should have gone after was the Bugatti Veyron. That was the kind of car the McLaren F1 was almost 18 years ago. The F1 was a super car’s super car, just as the Bugatti is today. Surprisingly, the F1 is still considered one of the top super cars ever made, and turns heads everywhere one shows up. Now days, there is nothing in competition with the Bugatti which would have presented McLaren the perfect opportunity to reclaim the ultimate automobile status. Instead they show up in the ring with the everyday super cars ready to put up a fight, not even attempting to take a punch at the current king. Obviously, they don’t remember what it’s like to be the kingpin car in the parking garage anymore.

Coming at the Number 10 spot is the Lamborghini Gallardo, it has got a V10 engine that produces a horse power of 520.  This huge amount of power gives the car boost from 0-100 Km/h within 13.65 seconds.

At the ninth spot is the Porsche 911 Turbo. Even with its 480 horsepower the 911 goes from 0-100 Km/h just in 12.5 seconds.

Coming at the eighth position is the Caterham CSR260.  The weight of the car is lower that’s why even with the 2.4 liter of engine producing just 250 hp it goes to 100 Km/h in time of 11.95 seconds.

Pagani Zonda is the seventh fastest car. It speeds up to 100 Km/h just in 11.8 seconds.

Porsche Carrera GT comes at sixth place, with its huge V10 engine it speeds up to 10 Km/h within 11.6 seconds.

McLaren F1 LM grabs the fifth spot. It accelerates up to 100 Km/h from stand still position in just 11.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 240mph.

Ferrari Enzo takes the fourth place accelerating from 0-100 Km/h just in10.9 seconds.

The third place is taken by The Ariel Atom which speeds up to 100 Km/h in just 10.88 seconds.

With the second place as the fastest car comes the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. the car accelerates car from 0-100Km/h in 9.9 seconds.

Shining at the first place is the Ultima GTR, the fastest car in the world. It accelerates from 0-100Km/h just in 9.4 seconds.
