I’ve been called a pharisee, I’ve been told that I am unjustly judging God’s children when I speak out about the doctrines of Paula White and others.  Some say I should be ashamed!  Others say that we should not judge.  I’ve heard some say that instead of speaking out against them, I should show the love of God and just pray for them.

Okay, while I’m keeping silent and praying for Paula White , Todd Bentley, and others (which I do), what about the millions of people who are shackled and blinded by their unsound doctrine?  Do I keep silent and just pray for them too?  Do I just sink to my knees when I see a little lamb being spiritually slaughtered and say, “God, please open their eyes.”  Or, do I reach out to them with God’s Word and minister to them?  No, you may say, you should witness to them.  Well, how do you do that without exposing the error that has them blind and bound?  Do we keep quiet and sacrafice millions of lambs for the sake of not speaking out about the heresy of one person?  Are you suggesting we should just hold our tongue and pray for them all when we have the pure, authoritative Word of God in our hearts, and we can minister to them?  That’s tantamount to seeing someone in need, and instead of meeting their need, you pray for God to supply what they lack when you have it right there to give it to them.  That’s hypocritical!

Sound doctrine is of extreme importance to our Heavenly Father!  His Word is His message to us, and it is profitable for training, correction, reproof, and teaching.  In order for it to teach us, correct us, reprove us, or train us, it has got to be sound!  When the Apostle Paul wrote most of his epistles, they were written not just to converse with and greet the churches, but to instruct them and to correct error that had entered the church.  How can anyone be nourished and grow in the knowledge of God’s Word when the doctrine they are being fed is false?  The answer is simple…they can’t!

Indeed, the apostles were so strict upon what was being taught that they admonished the church that if anyone, even an angel, came and taught anything other than what they had taught, they were to be accursed!  (Galatians 1:8-9)  Additionally, if you think Bereans such as myself and others are unkind, you would shudder to have seen the Apostle John relate to them, for he instructed the church that if anyone did not abide in the teaching of Christ, not to even receive them into their house or give them greeting, for anyone who does is participating in their evil deeds.   You would have thought him heartless when he called Diotrephes by name, and promised to call attention to his deeds if he was able to come to them.  What was Diotrephes’s sin?  Not accepting the doctrine of the apostles, which is the same Word given to us in the Bible.  (3 John 1:9-10)

How is it unkind and unloving to see people being poisoned by heresy, and reaching out to them with the truth of God’s Word?  Do you think heresy a small and insignificant thing?  How can we keep silent?  If I see someone in a burning house and I run to drag them out, I’m not doing it because I’m mean and heartless, I’m doing it because I am trying to save their life.  But sadly, the people we’re trying to rescue pull free of us and run back into the fire!  It’s heart breaking!

We do this because of the love of God that is within us.  I care!  I don’t want to see anyone subverted away from the truth.  I know that there are many who will not hear no matter what we say, or what we do, and I accept that; but I also know that there are some who WILL listen.  I know this because I was once one of them.  No one can tell me anything about the Word of Faith and Signs and Wonders doctrine that I haven’t already experienced myself.  I don’t speak as one who has never been there.  I speak as one of the lambs who was once rescued myself.

Until the Lord calls me home, I’ll continue to reach out to the lambs that are being slaughtered.
