<div align="justify">After years of searching for the holy grail, I think I&#8217;ve finally found the perfect foundation for my oh so fair, oh so temperamental skin.  The only downside is that it is not oil free, but I think that is a small price to pay for a foundation shade that suits my skin perfectly.  The foundation is light enough to be worn during the day, and can be built up for a flawless night time look.  If only they stocked Givenchy foundation in Australia!  I spend <em>way </em>too much time trying to find places online that I can buy it from.  I bought my current bottle from Sephora in New York, and am hoping to make it last as long as possible!</div>

It blends smoothly onto skin, and lasts all day long.  I apply mine with a foundation brush, but you can easily apply with fingertips &#8211; (some creme blushes are uneven and blotchy when applied with fingers, not this one!)  Beware when buying Becca Cheek Cremes though, they are so beautiful you will get addicted and need one in every shade!</div>

It&#8217;s a great black-black mascara, that doesn&#8217;t flake during the day, lengthens and thickens lashes.  What more could you want?</div>

What happened, did they fall off a truck? Why was Gucci, a premier luxury brand, being sold on a home shopping network?</p>
<p>Then back in October, we couldn&#8217;t believe it when a sharp-eyed poster on QVC&#8217;s jewelry forum said that upscale jewelry designer Stephen Dweck, whose chunky gemstone masterpieces are featured in Neiman Marcus, was on the No. 1 home shopping network&#8217;s schedule. THE Stephen Dweck?</p>
<p>We checked QVC&#8217;s program guide ourselves, and there it was: Dweck was doing a lower-priced jewelry line for QVC called Dweck&#8217;s Diamonds. His Neiman Marcus pieces didn&#8217;t even have diamonds. The high-end stuff is made with semi-precious stones.</p>
<p>Also in October, we were checking the press releases on HSN&#8217;s Web site when we saw the network had struck a deal with one of the most famous and elite fashion houses: Badgley Mischka, designers of bejeweled gowns for the red carpet and celebrities. </p>
<p>We&#8217;ve written bits and pieces of this during the past two months, but we thought we&#8217;d tie it all up in a tidy package for Thanksgiving: There has been a sea change in the home shopping world, prompted by the disastrous economy and the crash of the luxury market. </p>
<p>Yes, home shopping networks have seen their sales hurt by the economy, like everyone else. But they claim they are still managing to steal market share from brick-and-mortar retailers. In fact, QVC is making a full-frontal assault on them this Black Friday, with 28 hours of special products and programming stunts starting Thanksgiving night.</p>
<p>The consumer press will continue to mention &#8220;cubic zirconia&#8221; in every story it writes about QVC or HSN, oblivious to the fact that some of the most esteemed names in fashion, jewelry and cosmetics &#8212; brands you find in Saks, Bloomingdale&#8217;s and Neiman Marcus &#8212; are plying their wares on the aforementioned home shopping channels. </p>

<p>Male journalists are blind to this. You still have the nerds at Gawker, a snide Web Site for the navel-gazing media, chiding HSN for selling &#8220;useless crap.&#8221;  </p>
<p>If you have ever seen how male journalists dress or their fashion and style sensibilities, you will realize that you can&#8217;t expect them to know names like Badgley Mischka, Judith Ripka, Robert Lee Morris, our fellow Montclair, N.J., resident Bobbi Brown, Yves Saint Laurent, Smashbox, Lancome and Dweck. And these brands and artists don&#8217;t represent &#8220;useless crap.&#8221;</p>
<p>Luxury-good makers are hurting, and they need to make up their loss in sales. So they are turning to outlets like QVC, as CEO Mike George explained at a recent Liberty Media conference, as outlets to distribute new lower-priced lines to the masses. George cited fashion designer Vivienne Tam&#8217;s QVC alliance at the meeting held in Manhattan by his parent company, Liberty.</p>
<p>&#8220;This complete implosion of luxury retailing in America has caused all these folks to rethink their business model,&#8221; George said. </p>
<p>And that means partnering with QVC, HSN or ShopNBC. </p>
<p>As we said, it will take the consumer press years to figure out that home shopping channels are distribution powerhouses that have undergone a transformation, in part because of the infllux of talent like a Morris, who does couture jewelry for designers like Donna Karan and RLM Studio sterling silver jewelry for QVC.</p>
<p>The Big Three &#8212; QVC, HSN and ShopNBC &#8212; are aggressively trying to broaden their audience and potential customer base, those who don&#8217;t normally watch any of these three networks. That means the three are actually &#8220;programming&#8221; the channels, doing &#8220;shows&#8221; that have entertainment value, not just product shilling, so they will attract non-QVC or non-HSN watchers. </p>
<p>We remember once interviewing a QVC exec years ago and asking what the network&#8217;s ratings were. He said ratings were irrelevant: QVC was only concerned about how many products were sold in an hour.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s a totally different tune from what we heard recently from QVC&#8217;s George, and from the strategies that HSN CEO Mindy Grossman and ShopNBC CEO Keith Stewart have initiated. </p>
<p>Like traditional TV networks, the home shopping players want viewers to &#8220;sample&#8221; a QVC or an HSN. These new audience members, hopefully, will then see products that they want to buy.</p>
<p>For example, singer Natalie Cole recently did a live concert on HSN to promote a new Holiday CD set she is selling on the channel. If you&#8217;re a fan, you might tune in to HSN to see her, and then actually decide to purchase her CD. Artists such<br />
as Jose Feliciano have also performed live on QVC.</p>
<p>QVC alum Stewart on a recent third-quarter conference call pointed out that actress-entrepeneur Suzanne Somers, who came to ShopNBC from HSN, had succeeded in attracting new viewers to Minneapolis-based ShopNBC because she was &#8220;entertaining.&#8221; And these networks want new eyeballs.          </p>
<p>And home shopping networks&#8217; capacity to reach millions of consumers and do fulfillment of orders has not been lost on magazine publishers, celebrities or cable&#8217;s reality TV stars. With circulation falling, women&#8217;s magazines such as Lucky, Allure, Glamour and Self are partnering with HSN to sell subscriptions. </p>
<p>And stars have seen the light. In a recent interview in Oprah Winfey&#8217;s O magazine, Joan Rivers, who&#8217;s had a jewelry line on QVC for almost 20 years, told O she was on home shopping when &#8220;nobody except dead celebrities was doing merchandise on TV.&#8221; </p>
<p>Nowadays, it&#8217;s hard to find a celebrity or TV star who doesn&#8217;t have a home shopping line. Even Madonna was interviewed on HSN when she was selling her children&#8217;s book.    </p>

<p>Home shopping is a big business. ShopNBC is the also-ran in the group, but in the third quarter Stewart made some nice progress cutting its losses. Sales for the Big Three were all down, but down less than previous quarters.</p>
<p>And we are not talking chump change for these networks. The three home shopping channels generated $8.3 billion in net revenue in 2008. QVC domestic posted $4.9 billion, HSN netted $2.8 billion and ShopNBC had $568 million.</p>
<p>Even with revenue still slipping this year, for the first nine months QVC had revenue of $3.308 billion; HSN had net sales of $1.4 billion; and ShopNBC had $372.6 million in net sales.</p>

<strong>Who are you and what do you do (a brief bio)?</strong><br />
My name is Carolyn Black, and I am a beauty advisor at <a href="http://www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/english/index.html">Shoppers Drug Mart</a>, as well as a makeup artist on the side.</p>
<p><strong>When did you decide that the world of beauty was for you?  </strong><br />
I have always loved makeup.  When I was younger I used to play with sparkles and white eyeliner, and it just grew from there!</p>
<p><strong>How did you originally get into makeup?  </strong><br />
It started with my second part time job.  I was working at Shoppers as a cashier, and I realized I was spending more and more time in the cosmetics department, so I ended up going to school for special effects makeup.</p>
<p><strong>What is your beauty philosophy?  </strong><br />
Take care of your skin and play with your makeup. I understand that certain colours look better on certain people, but makeup is all about fun and playing!</p>
<p><strong>What is the most fun about working with makeup? </strong><br />
Everything!!!  I love that my world is always changing, and there is always something new out there to try! It sounds weird, but would be surprised at how quickly a woman’s mood can change when she finds that perfect lipstick. And to be the person that helps her with it is pretty rewarding.</p>
<p><strong>What is the most difficult part ? </strong><br />
It’s hard to say.  I think anyone who has worked in retail would probably have the same difficulties.</p>
<p><strong>Who is your personal style inspiration? </strong><br />
I don’t really have one.  For makeup I am loving what <a href="http://www.lancome.ca/_EN/_ca/index.aspx?cm_mmc=searchcanada-_-1G-_-0-_-0&#38;gclid=CJvh5L_2op4CFcNx5QodZzdjmw">Lâncome</a> is doing right now.</p>
<p><strong>You have the best eyebrows ever — what’s your secret?  </strong><br />
Haha!!  I don’t do much, I think a good eyebrow is all about how you fill it, and I truly recommend a powder to fill in your brows.  I use <a href="http://www.lisewatier.com/en/products/brows/boite-a-sourcils-brunes">Lise Watier</a>, they have two colours so you can create the perfect colour for your brow.  </p>
<p>Here are the three steps to follow when filling your brows:<br />
1. Brush your brows in the wrong directions.  Wherever you see spots without hair, fill them in.<br />
2. Comb your brows back, then fill brows in again.<br />
3. Run a mascara wand through your brows to soften them and correct any areas that may be too dark.</p>
<p><strong>Where is the best place to watch people in Toronto?  </strong><br />
Honestly the <a href="http://www.torontoeatoncentre.com/en/Pages/default.aspx">Eaton Center</a>.  So many people come through there everyday with so many different styles it’s pretty crazy.  Because there are so many tourists going through there everyday, you get to see what’s going on in fashion all over the world!! </p>
<p><strong>What is your favourite fashion/beauty or design thing right now? </strong><br />
<a href="http://www.mytruefit.com/blog/fashion_advice/stirrup_your_bo.html">Stirrups</a>! I was just reading an article about how someone has created some that you attach to any pair of leggings so boots go on easier. Oh, and pockets in skirts and dresses.  I have no idea what took people so long to figure out how much better life would be with pockets.</p>

<p>my friends all know i never leave the house without mascara. it&#8217;s my thing. while most pinays and, as i found out here, fijians never miss swiping on lip color, i frequently go bare-lipped but perfectly fine as long as my lashes are covered.</p>

<p>a good waterproof mascara doesn&#8217;t flake, stays put the whole day, won&#8217;t give you raccoon eyes. best for tropical climates because it withstands heat and sweat, you can even take a dip and it doesn&#8217;t run on you. if you&#8217;re attending a wedding where you expect hours of tears, dancing and general partying, your waterproof mascara will not ruin your face in photos.</p>
<p>so how do you remove it? waterproof make-up used to only respond well to oil or chemical make-up removers. but thanks to science, now waterproof mascara can be removed with ordinary soap and water. isn&#8217;t technology swell?</p>

But still, not every luxury brand is taking advantage of those opportunities and the ones that are, haven&#8217;t necessarily got it all figured out yet. But a few luxe brands (especially from the fashion/beauty category) <em>are </em>leading by example and one of the major arenas they are playing in is Twitter. While number of followers is not the only important factor to consider when judging a brand&#8217;s success, it is an indication of the fact that consumers care about a brand and what they have to say. Cette publicité a deux versions, une première version où l’on trouve l’activateur de jeunesse seulement. Puis, une deuxième version qui a été lancée depuis un mois où en plus de l’activateur, on découvre le produit Genefique Crème : la crème activatrice de jeunesse.</span></p>

however, one thing i am not a fan of with eyeliner is RACCOON EYES.    let&#8217;s all say this in unison, &#8220;UGH!&#8221; hate it!!!</p>
<p>i don&#8217;t just hate the morning after raccoon eyes, i hate the during and half way into the night when you really don&#8217;t need to be hunting for a tissue paper through your purse and a mirror on some sort of reflective surface just to save your face through the night.  NOT A FAN. DEFINITELY THE MOST IRRITATING THING EVER.</p>
<p>so when i tell you this, my loyal readers, i am telling you in all honesty&#8230;    i am an eyeliner lurker.<br />
if i read about an eyeliner, i go out and buy it- test it- leave it alone and come back to it to test it again. why?<br />
because you NEEED to be dumping your eyeliner every 2-3 weeks AT LEAST anyhow, so why not go out and buy another product and see?</p>
<p>well, okok.. some of us aren&#8217;t as much as a makeup slave as i am, but hey, that&#8217;s what i&#8217;m here for&#8230;</p>
<p><img class="alignright" title="d" src="http://img-1.h-img.com/media/img/s/H/1/u/H1u-3438733._f125_150.png" alt="" width="112" height="150" />so yes, the rave about the Urban Decay eye pencil kohl lasted as long as glitter in your eye socket lasted.. not very long. it was cool, but you know what&#8230;. it wasn&#8217;t convenient. and then Lancome came out with their Double Wear Zero Smudge Liquid Eyeliner&#8230;   <em>alright, alright</em> i will admit they did something right with liquid eyeliner and <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">i would highly recommend this product.</span></strong> so this too was a product of popular rant and rave about how it worked, how it stayed nicely in place and to really smudge it off warm water with soap was needed.  alright alright&#8230;. i like this liquid eyeliner..</p>
<p>now, eye kohls&#8230;&#8230;. eye pencils&#8230;. eye liners that do not smear off and ruin dates or first impressions!!!</p>
<p>i guess it would be unfair to list my favorite one, due to fact that i wanted to just SHARE with you the best of the best&#8230;. so i&#8217;ll let you figure out which one is my ultimate favorite eye pencil!</p>

<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>THIRD</strong> in the books, <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stila Convertible Eye Color</span>. i recommend this product to a lot of beginners who aren&#8217;t too comfortable with eyeliner, what to do with eyeliner and how to really get the looks they want to achieve. it&#8217;s a great multi purpose tool that gives you a smudge look and a smokey eye look when using the foam applicator that is attached to it, yet with the same consistancy and build as the Lancome eye pencil, you are saving yourself some money.</p>

I just don&#8217;t get this vampire phenomena and pardon me but I&#8217;m a firm believer in the old school (read: real way) of portraying vampires. I&#8217;m talking burnin&#8217; in the sun, drive a stake through the heart, use garlic to keep &#8216;em away kinda fan.</p>
<p>I am, however, a beauty junkie who likes to replicate the looks I see on the red carpet. At last night&#8217;s &#8220;New Moon&#8221; premiere in LA, &#8220;Twilight&#8221; star Ashley Greene did her thing! </p>
<p>Celeb makeup artist Vanessa Scali worked her magic and now we how she did it. According to Vanessa, &#8220;The look was classic 60&#8217;s&#8230;well-defined eyes with lots of lashes, a strong brow and clean skin with subtle pink/coral cheeks and lips.&#8221;</p>
<p>We all know I&#8217;m a <a href="http://www.misswhoeveryouare.com/2008/07/born-in-wrong-decade.html">wannabe &#8217;60s baby</a>, so I&#8217;m all over this look! </p>
