Is he planning to become the chief strategist for the LTTE??….

I find it ridiculous, that politicians in India involve themselves with issues abroad, especially when they have their hands full with issues of our own.

Also worthwhile is to note that the Maoists in India are considered “terrorist” while the LTTE is empathized with. Isn’t that hypocrisy???

We have to understand the geographical features of our continent, about 5000 yeas ago, to understand

We have to understand the geographical features of our continent, about 5000 yeas ago, to understand what happened at that time.

The Himalayas have been growing up all the while, and it is safe to assume that in those days, travellers could easily cross the region either way. The sentimental attachment of Hindus, towards Kailash and Manasarover is proof of my statement. If we have not seen the place, there will be no love for it. The description of the area as a green forest, in the Bhagavat Puran too confirms this view. Therefore, migration of people across the Himalayas is a distict possibility.

The most intimate charactoristic of a people, is their language. Early Aryans had Samskrutam as their mother tongue. If today it is a dead language, it is because, those people were in a minority and were forced by circumstances, to forget it and use whatever was the language of the people, among whom they lived. The fact that European Aryans do not know vedas, shows that, they migrated before we composed vedic sutras.

My children do not know Malayalam. Of course, they can talk in our language. Talking is not literature. To write in Malayalam, it is necessary to learn the script. So Aryans in India, forced their children to learn Samskrutam, in order to preserve their heritage and identity. Their early literature was the Vedas which, enen now, we learn by heart. All debates and writings were in Samskrutam. A poet who wrote in Malayalam was rediculed as half poet !

The Aryans who migrated towards the north and north west, were not so lucky, as we were in India. The fact that several Samskrutam words are transformed into the local language of the area only proves the Aryan ancestry of these people. Maximum similarity is in Hindi, even spoken Hindi. Samskrutham Hindi English

ekam ek one

dwayam doh two

thrayam theen three ( here the English word too is similar) dasham dus ten (“decimal” is derived from Samskrutam) mathr matha mother (derived from Samskrutam)

bhradru bhai brother ( do )

Russian and German languages have many Samskrutam words. It was a German scholar who wrote Malayalam grammar!

During second world war, a German scholar met the King of Cochin, who was a scholar in Samskrutam, They started chit chatting in Samskrutam; the English Resident was scared. The King was asked to abdicate.

Those Aryans who migrated to the peninsular India, accepted the local language, but continued to patronise Samskkrutam ,as there were no books in local languages. Thus the conclusion is inevitable. Aryan migration is from India towards Europe. Why they did not go towards Tibet and China, is a mystery.

Sexual contact with the local people was inevitable. Hence, the Aryan features are dimmed and local charactoristics became prominent.

Theoretically, we may say that north Indians are Aryans and others are non Aryans. In this, we ignore the people living in the hills, including the north east.

Davidians are a mystery. Unlike others, they have body hair, jet black complexion, teeth pushing the lips outwards, heavy jaws and stocky, short body. There is not a single Samskrutam word in Tamil which has only 26 letters. Malayalam too had no Samskrutam words. The numbers onnu, randu, moonnu, nalu, anchu, aru, ezhu, ettu, onpathu and pathu (one to ten) of Malayalam can be understood by people of all states in the south. It is a proof that Dravidian people are a distinct group. They are even earlier than the civilisation of the north.

Hanuman was impressed bythe grandeur of the Lankan capital, which seemed to be paradise in this world!

Tamil literature was highly developed, even before English education spread in the country.

Every day we read about new archeological discoveries in Tamilnadu.

A: “Sachin plays for himself. I better, he stops playing” B: “Hey! What are you saying? He is a grea

A: “Sachin plays for himself. I better, he stops playing”
B: “Hey! What are you saying? He is a great match winner”
A: “But don’t you think he is old enough to be pensioned?”
B: “He is still scoring tons. Isn’t he?”
A: “He is past his prime”
B: “Yeah with average of 50 during last year! I think your mind is sub-prime”
A: “Go to hell”
B: “You go to hell”
…
…
A: “Coffee?”
B: “Ok.”

This is what a cricket discussion in India sounds like. A general discussion suddenly gets focused on Sachin and from no where rival gangs sprout up. Pro and anti Sachin sentiments start flaring. Swear words and curses are thrown all around. Then there is truce. This cycle repeats itself day after day.

My earliest encounters with cricket date back to my Grandfather. He was a great cricket enthusiast and even greater Sachin basher. I reckon he lost a bet or two coz of Sachin and he remained pissed off with him forever. “Out ho gaya. Yeh bhi nahin socha ki mausa ji ke paise lage hain”, I remember him mumbling when Sachin got out stumped while chasing against NZ. Above statement is a classical example of raw humor of the oldies. It relates the player who got out to my grandmothers family. So the loss is blamed squarely on the player and my poor old grandmother. I tell you, these oldies can be quite cruel sometimes. The trick lies in not being over smart with them.

He was not a fan of what we call the purest form, the Gavaskar style of cricket. He adored Windies team of 70-80’s. “Lala, kaalon ka aakhiri khiladi bhi aata tha toh chakka maarata hua aata tha” (Even their last player started off with a six). The only Indian player of old about whom I heard anything positive from him was Kris Srikkanth. “Jab who ballebaaji karta tha toh bazaar soone ho jaate the” (Streets got deserted when he came on to bat). For all those who say that oldies preferred Tests to ODIs here’s the last salvo. “Are yeh paanch din ka khel humse nahin dekha jaata. Ghanton baithe raho, ek bhi chowka chakka nahin lagta” (Not a single boundary is hit for hours).

From the current era Jayasurya and Afridi (Afriki for him) were his favorites. Indian team was the most unreliable team as far as he was concerned. “Are inka koi bharosa nahin. Lanka ke khilaaf 200 kuch banana the, saala aaya raam gaya raam shuru ho gaya, aur sab ke sab 78 run pe simat gaye. Mausaji ka nuksaan ho gaya”.

I think T20 would have been the best format for him. Sadly it was during his last years that T20 got popular. It would have been wonderful to watch IPL with him. However he took off even before season one.

Regardless of what people are saying nowadays, I can never lose interest in and ODI game. I have grown up with it. It’s like a ritual to me. And of course it has memories of my grandpa. I remember one of his favorite quotes. Whenever Azhar played well, he used to say, “Captaan hai koi naayi ka launda thode hi hai” (He is not a commoner, he is the captain after all). So it goes for the ODIs.

NEW DELHI – As India’s military, police, intelligence and civilian authorities combine r

NEW DELHI – As India’s military, police, intelligence and civilian authorities combine resources to launch the nation’s largest-ever offensive to root out Naxalite (communist) rebels, high-level government sources are pointing towards growing evidence of foreign support of the Maoist rebels.

Among the “outside forces” at work are remnants of the Sri Lankan Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), claim Indian security agencies. Contacts have told Asia Times Online that the LTTE, defeated in May by the Sri Lankan government after decades of struggle, is training the Maoists in the type of guerilla war tactics for which the LTTE were known, including surprise hit-and-run tactics and jungle warfare.

The location of these LTTE-Maoist training centers is thought to be remote parts of central and southern India already under the

complete control of the leftists, who have recently been dubbed the “Red Taliban”.

Security officials, who say they are monitoring coastal areas for infiltration by the LTTE in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Orissa, say the joint expertise of the two insurgent groups could form a potent mixture.

New Delhi, pointing to the lack of an effective LTTE leadership in the wake of its defeat, is for now ruling out deeper strategic ties between the two groups, such as them launching a combined war against the state. Security forces believe out-of-work mercenaries who were earlier involved in training LTTE cadres are now heading Maoist training camps in India.

“One element that we are closely looking at is the indoctrination processes followed by the LTTE that turned some of the cadres into suicide attackers. This could have dangerous portents as far as Indian Maoists are concerned,” one official said.

India’s Maoists rebels are estimated to number about 25,000. The insurgent group’s heavily armed, well-trained guerillas say they are fighting oppression and exploitation to create a classless society. With the group’s ability to hide among civilian populations and connections to other insurgent groups in northeast India, India’s security forces face a serious challenge.

Sources say that at least 12 LTTE members recently infiltrated India to teach guerrilla warfare techniques to the Naxalites. Indian security sources suspect the LTTE militants may already be training the Maoist’s military wing, the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army.

In June, New Delhi labeled the Naxalite underground political party, the Communist Party of India (Maoist), a terrorist organization, putting it in the same league as outfits such as the Lashkar-e-Toiba and the decimated LTTE.

India is also concerned about aid possibly coming to Indian Maoists from Nepal, including the supply of arms, as well as from China.

New Delhi this week insinuated that Maoists were procuring arms from China. “The Chinese are big smugglers … suppliers of small arms. I am sure that the Maoists also get them,” said Home Secretary G K Pillai. He ruled out deeper links beyond the delivery of arms.

Indian security agencies claim Nepal is an important source of weapons and possibly funds being channeled to the Naxalites from international sympathizers. Home Minister P Chidambaram said that aside from well-known routes through Myanmar and Bangladesh, the rebel group may be procuring weapons through Nepal.

Unlike more secure borders with Pakistan or Bangladesh, due to high human traffic the India-Nepal border is porous and remains an active smuggling route.

The Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) has declared that its backing of Indian Maoists is only ideological, with no “working relationship”, but New Delhi feels the reality is quite different.

Long way to go

In the past few weeks, India set in motion its biggest and most-organized offensive to root out the four-decade-old communist insurgency. “Operation Green Hunt” involves more than 100,000 federal paramilitary forces, some of which have being withdrawn from Kashmir.

The central forces’ offensive is focused on strongholds in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh states. Although it has not yet been launched, intelligence-gathering has begun with the aim of catching Naxal leaders in Andhra Pradesh, as this group constitutes the majority of the Maoist’s top brass.

With security forces poised to begin flushing out the Maoists, voices of dissent are being raised.

Using direct force against the Maoists will not be easy, given the widespread areas of their influence, largely sympathetic civilian populations and the difficult terrain, argue some critics. Others suggest that a better solution lies in improving the long-term economic prospects of poor tribal and peasant populations through land reform and employment opportunities.

However, observers say the state cannot build roads, schools, hospitals and electricity in such a hostile environment

Although comparisons have been made with this year’s defeat of the LTTE by Sri Lankan forces, these overlook the facts that the Tigers were cornered in a much smaller pocket of land and it had taken many years for the conflict to reach that stage.

In the face of the looming government offensive, the communist rebels have killed more than 40 people – including 21 security forces – in the past month. Brazen attacks have included the hijack of an express train for several hours, kidnaps and killings of government officials as well as blowing up schools across central and eastern India.

Since 2008, Maoists attacks have claimed about 1,200 lives, with Maoist-linked violence killing nearly 8,000 people in India over the past two decades. According to official estimates, Naxalism has affected 2,000 police stations spread over 223 districts across 20 states in India.

In the early 1990s, the number of districts affected by Maoist violence stood at just 15 in four states; this has now risen alarmingly. The Maoists rebels have proliferated in the states of Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, referred to as the “red corridor”.

India’s rich coal-mining activity is concentrated in these states, which have large tribal belts. These provinces, though rich in natural resources, score very low on human development indices, creating wealth gaps that the rebels often capitalize on to gain public support.

It’s been ages since I’ve written anything other than school notes and I just have to type something, be it nonsense, just to make sure I can form sentences.

One advice on A Levels, NEVER EVER zone out in classes, both in school and extra. I’ve been doing it a lot and I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I’ve missed quite large chunks of chemistry and physics lessons. Blasting off to the moon, hunting dinosaurs, driving Ferraris might be fun when the alternative to that is listening to a long winded explanation on electrical resistance and a guy called Ohm, but in the long run you are getting f*cked in the ass.

Also I’ve been thinking.. (yeah its scary, you should try it sometime). I’ve never actually been in a or witnessed a full blown fight/riot. That’s something to do before attaining nirvana.. (officially, No. 156 on my list of things to do before I die)

One last thing; I’m saving up for an iPod Touch, thanks to Mr. Siri E. who caused me to zone out into apple world during a physics class. Now I’m starving and living off these really generous dudes’ (you two are f*cking awesome man !) food during the school interval, just because I’m in love with that PoS iPod Touch. F*ck i hate these expensive love/hate relationships.

A Sri Lankan editor was arrested for reporting on an alleged rift between a senior military commande

A Sri Lankan editor was arrested for reporting on an alleged rift between a senior military commander and the government after the defeat of the Tamil Tiger rebels, police and his newspaper said on Sunday.

Chandana Sirimalwatte was held for questioning after police raided the offices of his “Lanka” newspaper, a spokesman for the paper said.

Police spokesman Nimal Mediwaka confirmed that the editor was arrested on Saturday, but declined to say why he was taken in.

The newspaper, which is closely linked to the opposition JVP, or People’s Liberation Front, said Sirimalwatte had been questioned about a story in Friday’s edition.

The paper had alleged there were attempts to discredit Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka, who played a key role in the military’s victory over Tamil rebels in May, after he reportedly refused to accept a civilian job.

There is no official censorship in Sri Lanka, but many mainstream media organisations practise self-censorship fearing reprisals from the authorities.

Tamil editor J S Tissainayagam was sentenced in August to 20 years of hard labour on charges of supporting terrorism, sparking protests from the US government and the European Union.
