The experience offered by travel is invigorating, and when you’ve been standing still for a long time there is something particularly refreshing about stepping out into the world and spending some time discovering, and perhaps even finding your natural order in things.

I love the folksy, floral appeal of this cardigan from Kurotsubaki, which really inspired this look. The texturing is done in such a way that this really does look like something that’s been around a while and handed on through the generations – it’s not the smartest thing you’ll ever purchase, but really that’s the whole point. This is unfussy and artfully shapeless, the fabric falling from the chest with an uneven cut the whole way around. If you’re a boho type you’ll definitely appreciate this. It’s worth noting that the seams are a little out of sorts at the shoulders, but if it bothers you they can easily be concealed with a generous scarf.

To add a little pomp to my outfit, I layered with a fetching blouse I found on a visit to Hal*Hina. It’s simply done with emphasis in all the right places: the stretch of the fabric where the buttons fasten, the puffed sleeves artfully runched to a close at the wrists, and a wonderfully decadent collar complete with layers of faded lace ruffle. I love the muted colour as much as anything, ideal with the other elements of this style.

Casual trousers can be a little dull, but this pair from Miel certainly buck that particular trend. With a knotted waist band that folds back from the trouser tops, there’s a level of detail and artistry to these that makes me quite giddy with glee: it’s exactly how Mika Nieuport has earnt herself a throng of screaming groupies, and I would unashamedly join them in their songs of praise. The legs are loose and wide with roomy pockets for your travelling accoutrements, and should you prefer less of a grasping cuff, there is a loose banded version included which is just as well executed as the rest of the piece.

Walking long distances ought to require a flat and comfortable shoe, but then my mother did warn me that a woman must suffer in the name of fashion, and so may my blisters be a badge of honour to the cause. These are an older pair of boots from Maitreya, with a particularly thin body and wickedly angled sole. The footshape is slightly peculiar but in truth I pay far more attention to the rich suede texturing and the shape of the leg, the boots sitting in a loose ruffle with buckle detail to the side.

I wanted a healthy glow to my skin without going overboard, so I opted for Tuli’s Bella. The body is done to Tuli Asturias’s usual high standard with each makeup offering multiple brow and cleavage options. I’m wearing the Gogo makeup, with shimmering lips and thickly lined eyes. It’s a day look with some added drama, emphasised by lighter lids and then played right down again with the freckle-dashed and rather ruddied face. I rather like the characteristics of this skin, including softly drawn moles and a little pock on the upper lip among other purposeful flaws. As this is not a ‘perfect’ skin it may not be to everyone’s taste, so it’s prudent to look at the demos before you buy (but you do that anyway, of course?).

The hairstyle plays to both skin and the outfit in colour and style. It’s a casual half-ponytail from Truth, with parted fringe falling to uneven lengths at either side and the upper sections swept back and knotted on themselves, tumbling down to meet the main body of hair to the back. It’s an easy style to wear and is beautifully textured to boot.

December 1 is World AIDS Day, and on this occasion I would like to do a blog post to raise awareness

December 1 is World AIDS Day, and on this occasion I would like to do a blog post to raise awareness of a condition we all know about, but – for various reasons – choose to largely ignore in everyday life.

A very dear friend of mine is HIV-positive, and he also is the person who first introduced me to SecondLife® in December 2007. Without him, I wouldn’t be here, writing this post.

Like most people, I knew about HIV, but the role it played in my life was too insignificant to ever become more than a distant, abstract threat that seemingly did not belong to my environment. Now, no day goes past that I don’t think of it consciously, that I don’t hope for improvement of already existing therapies or for a breakthrough in scientific research, so that a cure might be found.

At a time of the year when most of the Western hemisphere has its collective thoughts on either upcoming or past holidays, I would like to take a break for World AIDS Day and for all those who are infected with HIV – regardless of age, race, gender, sexual identity or social status; regardless of whether their infection was a risk they took, an accident, or fate; whether they were born with it or not.

To my friend, I’d just like to say: I hope that many decades from now, we will sit together, old and wrinkly, laughing about the times when we were young. I love you.

——————————————————————————————————————————————–

Of course, the red ribbon I’m wearing is very anachronistic, but in this case, I really don’t care.

My outfit is a new-ish release by Ingenue that I love so much that I’m not yet willing to change into something else. Both the high-waisted “Jane Jean” and the “Marguerite” sweater have a playful, pin-up style sexiness which is never really out of date, so even if vintage or retro fashion are not usually your cup of tea, you still might enjoy these two items. The quality is, as always with Betty Doyle’s creations, very high, so there really is no reason why you should hesitate to get one of the many colours she offfers.
If your balance is currently low or you still need further persuasion, there’s a red version of the Jane Jean available through a Midnight Mania board at Ingenue – just touch the board and with a bit of luck, you’ll receive a free copy at midnight SLT.

Since I recently joined the “iheartsl.com bloggers”-group, I will from now on note all promotional items I received through them with a bold “R” for “review copy”.

Apparently some people are terribly concerned that others are going to steal their “look.” I think this is greedy, selfish, and stupid. Anti-inspect shields don’t work, and we can track something down even if you won’t tell us where it’s from. By trying to hide the source of an item, the creator may lose sales.

Most importantly, no one is going to steal your look (unless they’re one of the crazies, and in that case, you have bigger issues than your look.) The same outfit can have a dramatically different feel, just by changing the details. Observe.

Location: Fuji Speedway
Lap time: Mines R35 GTR recorded 1.49.782 s
Driver: Mr. Eiji Yamada (Professional race car driver)

On February 12th the Mines GTR broke the 1.50s barrier at the Fuji Speedway. With a 1.49.782s time on the Fuji Speedway and considering that the Mines GTR has been tuned as a Street car with stock tires their recent time is an amazing feat. Mines had further developed the exhaust and boost up system along with modification to the computer to improve the GTR’s performance. Once again the highly advanced expertise that Mines has developed for the GTR has proven their dominance in the performance of the GTR.

This is 7s quicker than a stock R35 GT-R and 1s quicker than a Mines R34 (ref. July 2005 – J-Tuner).

Ownership of a San Francisco strip club have come up with a novel marketing ploy to boost business while acting in the spirit of holiday goodness and cheer.

Market Street Cinema, one of the most infamous strip clubs in the entire city, is offering free admission to anyone that brings a brand new, unwrapped toy to the club, creating something of a win-win situation for everyone involved.

“It’s That Time of The Year, Toys For Tots. Bring In A Unwrapped Toy For Free Admission. It’s The Gift That Keeps On Giving. Come Help The Kids And Help Yourself To A Lap Dance All In One Trip.”

Even though the promotion is wildly popular, there are many that find the basic idea of mixing carnal pleasures with good will.

I pose a question to you Hip-Hop Wired Universe…

Even though done in good will, is this promotion acceptable and would you participate in it???

KUALA LUMPUR: A former army man was sentenced by the Magistrates Court here to 10 years’ jail after finding him guilty of two counts of molesting his two young daughters this year, just a day after a corporal was sentenced to 140 years and 40 strokes of the rotan for repeatedly raping and molesting his two under-aged daughters.

In Tuesday’s case, the 37-year-old will only serve five years from the date of his arrest on Nov 10 as his sentence is set to run concurrently.

In passing sentence, magistrate Nor Azah Kasran ordered him to be imprisoned for 60 months for each offence due to the nature of his crime, where the victims were his own daughters and because they were only 11 and nine years old.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of using criminal force with the intent of outraging the modesty of his older daughter in June, and his younger daughter in July, at their home in Wangsa Maju.

According to the statement of facts, in both the cases, he had entered the bathroom while they were bathing.

In his older daughter’s case, he had asked her to perform oral sex on him and then sit on his lap, while in the younger daughter’s case, he made her perform oral sex on him, after which he bathed and molested her.

The virtues of dressing well to win grace, favour and even your fairytale romance are so often a par

The virtues of dressing well to win grace, favour and even your fairytale romance are so often a part of the stories we hear as children. The lesson was never lost on me: presentation certainly affects how others view us.

As soon as I put Siddean Munro’s fabulous overknee boots, I knew that whatever else I wore would need to work around them. Cuffed with a buckled strap just below the knee, these long boots glide down the leg, shaping the foot in a toe-crunching slope. I adore the silver sheather heel and accentuated curve to the back – not only is the shape delectable, but you’ll also appreciate the finer details, from the shimmer of the leather to the inner-leg zips. SLink footwear always demonstrates excellent attention to detail, and you can see for yourself by purchasing a demo in store.

To ensure eyes are properly directed, I decided on a pair of patterned tights from Sheer, one of my favourite hosiery stores. The legs on Sheer products are thoughtfully crafted with just the right shimmer and shine, and since Sh Oluja treats seams with the respect they deserve, your pins will look fabulous no matter which designs you favour.

Up top, I’m wearing a pretty jacket from Phoenix Rising’s collection. The open style is fringed with black lace, buttoned above the stomach and secured with a double leather belt. The puff sleeves are decorated with ribbon and drawn tight to the arms as they finish, adding a sense of indulgence that isn’t lost on those looking. Beneath I chose a feminine but demure blouse from Pink Outfitters. The sheer fabric is detailed with stiff ruffles that extend across the chest and line the buttoned breast, reaching around the neck in an upright collar. It’s quite lovely in its own right, but is really set off by the right accompaniments.

I found the skirt at Narwhal and must say that I was rather impressed by the fit and finish. I don’t always like skirts that use a prim ‘flap’ between the legs, largely because they tend to stick out like the proverbial sore thumb. This one really doesn’t, at least not on my shape. While there’s a little lift in some poses, if you have a slender build I think you’ll find it a good fit and notice that the texture has been very well matched. I love the high waist and the suspender straps to the body (hidden here), the dark denim featuring stitched pocket detail and buttons to the front.

The skin is by Belleza, from the Belle line which still looks just as good as when I originally bought it. This makeup is a particular favourite, the creamy skin setting off the silky lips and smokey eyes. The face is defined without being overdone, strong but well-shaped brows working well here with Calla’s Flutterby lashes, which sweep to the outer eye to balance. I’m wearing eyes by Curio from the Tragic series, which I love for their distinctive colours as well as their depth and luminance. I think I own every colour, and you may wish to similarly indulge – they’re really rather enthralling.

The hair is a style I picked up from Truth – I must say I’m not a huge fan of overcrowded stores (darn you, sir, for having so much custom!) but if you can find a quieter time to visit then it’s worth a little lag and slow load times as the hair really is very well done. Ana is an easy to wear short style, a considered parting to the front frames the face nicely, tucking behind the left ear and falling in natural waves throughout. The uneven ends compliment the look, with careful use of flexis adding just enough movement to make this work. This is the sort of style that carries through from morning to night and is definitely worth having in your inventory.

All’evento erano presenti writer e ospiti provenienti da New York City e dalle principali capitali europee. Un’occasione singolare che non andava persa (e che invece mi sono perduta)!!!

All City Writers è pubblicato da Kitchen93 e supportato da Carhartt.

I live in the centre of the UK, which means the sea is a good trek in any one direction. Fortunately

I live in the centre of the UK, which means the sea is a good trek in any one direction. Fortunately the metaverse allows for a breath of ocean air, and with plentiful shopping opportunities along the cliffsides I didn’t even need to concern myself with walking across a shingled beach.

Let’s start with the hair (largely because I’ll burst if I don’t rave immediately): I was incredibly impressed with this weather-worn style from Exile, which has everything from a great shape to glorious textures. The style works from a side parting, the hair blown heavy across the right side of the face, wisps flying free while the main body of hair holds reasonably firm to frame the face. I am besotted with the expert use of flexi-prims to the front, which give a bouncy movement that finishes the style perfectly. Kavar Cleanslate certainly understands the nuances of creating funky but realistic styles, including the use of great textures. The darker shades really don’t do his hairs justice – I recommend medium or lighter tones for a real ‘wow’ factor.

I’m also itching to tell you about Tuli’s new skin line, Bella. I often have to tweak my shape to get the most from a skin, and there was no exception in this instance, but it really was worth the effort. The face is quite enchanting – I preferred the red brows with my choice of hair colour and also to compliment the makeup, but you will also find brown and light brow options included. The features are very realistic, highlights and lowlights well defined and tiny blemishes here and there giving a real depth. I especially like the subtle lines to either side of the mouth, offering more than a suggestion of expression. I did find the shading under the lower lip a little dark at first, giving rise to a fear of the lips bleeding, but in honesty the more I look the more I love every aspect.

I paired with eyes from PixelDolls. I only picked these up a few days ago, but they go perfectly with a realistic skin because of the vein marbling on the eye whites. It’s not at all overdone and compliments the shiny pupils which have just enough of a reflection on them to really draw attention.

When I finally got used to the idea of getting dressed (Tuli does a lovely body, so if you’re not going to share then you should at least spend some time admiring it yourself), I picked out some unseasonal but beautiful pieces that seemed to fit the base look. The bolero is from an outfit by MichaMi and is done in a closely woven tweed, cropped to the front and back with a double button fastening below the throat. This is the sort of piece that suits an all-season wardrobe – pair with long sleeves for winter or pop on over a summer top to keep the chill off.

The shirt is from Mischief, a crossover wrap design with a closed back. While I do love this shirt and think the front is convincing, be warned that the side seams are stark (I believe this is an older design). The sheer material demanded I protect my modesty, so I chose one of my many pieces of Insolence lingerie to compliment. Delores is a soft cup triangle style made in a delicate lace that is just as beautiful when glimpsed through clothing. I am a devotee to Camilla Yosuke’s underwear, and even though usually I may be the only one who knows I have it on, I still think it’s an elegant luxury every woman should afford herself.

The skirt is something I picked out from Nyte’N'Day. I was rather taken with the floral pattern as I’m very much of the opinion that there really aren’t enough print items inworld. This is designed in a tiered style, the layered effect working well with movement – it’s scripted so that you can position it to lay nicely when your avatar is seated, although you can wear a non-script version if you prefer. I dressed the waist with a simple buckle belt from the MNK store – this was a group gift a little while back, and doesn’t seem to be available in store, but can easily be swapped out for something similar.

I accessorised with a pretty neckerchief from Decoy. It’s got a great shape to it, the material laying wide to the right and pinching to a knot at the left, with short loose ends. I did tint to match the bracelet and shoes I’m wearing.

The bracelet is one I’ve previously blogged for Lookr. Siyu Suen’s creations always grab my attention, and Orinthia is in my opinion one of her best pieces of jewellery to date. The bangle tapers back from a cabochon gemstone, the metal twisted into delicate swirls throughout. It’s ornate enough to be interesting without any pretention, and the metal and stone colour change feature gives you countless options to make it excellent value for money.

I finished with shoes are from Shiny Things: fittingly I chose the Tuli pumps, which are simple round-toe heels decorated with a large bow to the front that gives an indulgently girlie feel. The shape is excellent with heels locking solidly to the back, with a lovely leather texture that shimmers with highlights to the toes and heels.

Okay, so we’re going to look at high-waisted pants in a 3-post series. First, if you haven

Okay, so we’re going to look at high-waisted pants in a 3-post series. First, if you haven’t read Denim One, go check it out; it discusses factors to be considered in a pair of jeans (or any pair of pants), and I’ll be building on it.

Now, let’s talk about the yoke, the high-waistedness of the pants. How high is the waistline? There are several different approaches to designing a high-waisted pant. Long line of buttons? Long zipper, with a few buttons? Double set of buttons, sailor-style? What do the buttons look like, compared to one another? The last pair has in interesting approach, with a double set of regular jeans waistbands. The seaming of these pants also becomes both more important and more interesting — take a good look at how each jean has done their seams. It’s especially interesting, I think, to look at how the rear view has been handled.

Let’s also compare the pants in general. The first major difference I see in these jeans is the texture — we’ve got a rough, coarse fabric; a stiff new denim, a thin, soft denim, and a pair that look like I’ve owned them for a while and broken them in. The pockets vary quite a bit: take a look at the shapes of the pockets themselves, as well as their placement on the buttock.

Of the four pairs shown here, three are skinnier-fit, though the length and shape of the prims are different. The one wide-legged pair of jeans actually has flexi attachments, which of course gives them a very unique sense of movement (which may not suit everyone), compared with most jeans on the grid.

Now, what to do with high-waisted jeans? It’s funny, when I picture high-waisted jeans, I always either imagine a rural country belle with natural beauty, or a terribly stylish urban fashionista. I’m sure other people wear them — after all, jeans are a sort of global casual uniform at this point. But that’s just the way I picture them. In this case, I decided to go the country belle route, largely because I’ve been looking for a good excuse to use this awesome Hay Ride Photo Set. Petite Morte has been creating a series of photo sets that tend to be moodier, which suits me. Some are phantom, so you’ll want to be sure you’re dropping them on a level surface.

About the other stuff I’m wearing. Hair is from Tiny Bird, and I love the assymetric wild messiness of it. It’s amazingly versatile and goes with a variety of looks. The skin is Curio’s latest, available at the Skin Fair, and it has an innocence to it that’s really lovely. Ingenue, of vintage clothing fame, has been releasing a series of Vintage Basics, like this blouse, that while vintage still have modern wearability. Finally, the jewelry is from Kunstkammer, and I fell in love the first time I spotted it in the store. It’s so ornate, and elegant, and again a bit vintage, and I love the large scale of the pieces. The textures are stunning, as is the primwork.

You know, much like RL, I cannot help but associate words I see in magazines, as store names or in notecards… with their literal dictionary meaning; and then presume that they will be talking about – or selling – items that relate to the literal meaning. For example….. before I became aware of the store in SL called !MODERN GYPSY! I naively presumed it would sell clothing or creations of a spanish / mexican nature. So obviously, when I was told of designer DONNA FLORA I automatically assumed “girly flowery-ness”! Hmmmmm, not immediately appealing to this “tom-boy” Emerald :s

“EVA” by DONNA FLORA

*walks in to a brick wall* How dumb had I been to think DONNA FLORA was all about girlyness?? I believe the term I should have used was “levels of femininity”, as yes they do sell “girlyness” and traditionally feminine creations, but just take a look at this amazing outfit. My mouth literally dropped open when I wore this EVA ensemble.

First of all the leather texture of the mid-length skirt is absolutely spot on – even down to the folds and creases which come with the wear and tear of leather in RL. The huge collar is an absolute pleasure to wear as it delicately wraps you head in softness yet manages to portray a level of protectiveness not unlike a helmet. Moving down to the long sleeved jumper, the softness of this matches perfectly with the collar yet is uniquely contrasted with yet another piece of leather garmentry which takes the form of a strapless bodice. If all that is not enough to satisfy the fashionista then surely the added bonus of black leather prim cuffs gives you an overall look of exceptional style and quality.

Some people do not like the idea of wearing leather as it can be seen as having sexual connotations, and this outfit does fit into that category; however not in a sordid way. Everything from the feather collar down to the seam details on the bodice and skirt scream sexuality and womanhood. I felt empowered and proud to be a woman as I wore this outfit…. infact I even had the nerve to ask a certain designer (who shall remain nameless) to put up a wall on her sim with my name on it! Yes my ego had landed , and yes, many of you readers may be thinking I am mad for describing an outfit as empowering but until you have tried it yourself… until you have walked though a busy sim and had people stop, stare and ask where your clothes are from … then you cannot fully understand the effect that DONNA FLORA’s designs can have on you.

I have a feeling MIAMAI may be moving to second place on my favourite designers list :b

Colours Available: red, black

Price: L$400 (yes, you read that correctly lol)

So there is a new sale day…69L Humpday. Which is sort of an amusing name. There are only a few stores on this one so far, so it was easy to run around and look. I got a few things I wanted to show…

(click for larger)

~From Sn@tch I got the cute little black jacket on the left. It came with pants, but I wanted to make a different outfit with it. I used the skirt only from the Moxie Polano 69L Humpday outfit, and then put the top only from a dress that is available at WhoKnows for the Cupcakes sim opening. Is that confusing enough?
~The leggings are one of the Concrete Flowers weekly dollarbies and you get about 10 colors.
~The hair is the November Group Gift from Ay.LinE and comes in a bunch of colors also.
~The jewelry is a new group gift from alaMood. There is a 250L join fee, but there have been LOTS of gifts!

~On the right is the 69L Humpday special from WOE. I have loved these Waist Cinchers with tanks for a long time. I think the texturing is great. I will say…Dick put the vendor in a hard to find place. It is on a pole, fairly high up, towards the middle of the store. Dick…this isn’t a hunt! You want us to find the sale item! Put a big sign or an arrow or something! I had about given up, thinking that there was nothing out when it finally rezzed.
~The belt is the prize from Kosh for the Invite Only hunt and is really nice, and is unisex!
~The jeans are a current freebie at SF Designs.

Having complete control over the virtual climate is one of the many things that makes the metaverse

Having complete control over the virtual climate is one of the many things that makes the metaverse so fabulous. Being able to enjoy Autumn without worrying about a sudden downpour or gale force winds is a unique experience, and one I enjoy taking full advantage of.

This look started with a tiered skirt I found at Hexed. I love the way the layers fall, short at the front and lengthening off to the back to give an unusual and attractive cascade. The material has a woven feel to it, with a banded hem which finishes nicely. There’s a black belt provided when you purchase, which gives a more urban styling: I exchanged it for a soft leather belt from Maitreya, which is a deep olive colour and offset with embossed coins. It fastens to the front around a coppery ring, folding back on itself and tucking neatly into a leather band. There are various colours available, and they really do suit a wide range of looks so are well worth the spend.

An added bonus when wearing a skirt with a raised front is that you have every opportunity to flash a little leg. I chose a pair of particuarly lustworthy boots… if you don’t already own a pair I suggest you make a hasty dash over to Bax Coen’s shop and snap them up. While plain, the attention to detail makes the Prestiege range effortlessly chic, offering immaculate texturing on the leather with zips to the centre back and accent on the heel. The boots come with a hud that enables you – or a store assistant – to custom fit to your shape, change the colour of every detail, and even add leather or denim cuffs to dress above the knee. I love the ease and extent of the customisation, and despite a slight premium compared to many similar lines, Bax’s boots are definitely worth it.

To compliment both skirt and boots, I picked out a cardigan from Pink Outfitters. I love this store, it stocks so many great separates which are always neatly hand drawn. This knitted cardigan is pinned closed with a single button, the others lying open to the left. Beneath it I’m wearing a sweater I found at Reale – layering like this emphasises the luxurious neck and highlights the ruffled crop across the stomach.

Accessories are by Mandala. I’m especially fond of the earrings, a carefully crafted combination of beads hung inside golden hoops. The necklace in the same style is placed to drop below the folds of the jumper neck, and adds a little interest without overwhelming.

It would be remiss of me not to mention my hair: this tousled ponytail makes a wonderful windswept style, locks of hair splayed out messily to the front with free-floating strands, the mane pulled neatly behind and flying free in thick waves to the back. Tiny Bird do some of the most interesting styles on the grid, and while the range isn’t as vast as some other stores, there is plenty to keep you interested.

Finally I’d like to credit Iki Ikarus for the rather beautiful skin. The creamy tone is best seen in the unedited picture – I love the sheen and demi-part on the lips, with smoked out eyes that blend to a rusted tone, made more striking with highlights above each socket. The flush on the cheeks is very natural, and I think here it hints at a face that’s been a little over-exposed to the cold weather. While I’ve used a darker nailtone here, it’s worth mentioning that the original tone is a very pretty french manicure, meaning you can happily go au naturelle.
