Tytuł, o którym chciałbym dzisiaj co nieco napisać uchodzi za jeden z pierwszych, który zapoczątkował modę na multipierdolca związanego  z postaciami z gier komputerowych. Zjawisko to zazwyczaj objawia się w taki sposób, że obok premiery gry komputerowej na rynku pojawiają się równocześnie: film na jej podstawie, odrębna ścieżka dźwiękowa, t-shirty czy futra z norek sygnowane logiem gry. Oczywiście takiej mnogości gadżetów przy pierwszym Tomb Raiderze nie uświadczyliśmy, ale przygody Lary Croft stały się inspiracją do wykorzystywania jej wizerunku w każdy z możliwych sposobów. Czy to dobrze, czy źle pozostawiam do indywidualnych rozważań.

Lara po raz pierwszy

Historia zaczyna się w czasach kiedy bawełna na ciepłe majtki Lary Croft jeszcze nie wykiełkowała, bo gdzieś w nieokreślonej przeszłości.  W tajemniczym Los Alamos dochodzi do potężnego wybuchu, który spowodował trzęsienie ziemi, a w efekcie taniec potężnych artefaktów wydobytych z pustynnych piachów znajdujących się pod jurysdykcją rzeczonej osady. Wtem, po kilku wizjach z tego tajemniczego intro, lądujemy w teraźniejszości u boku Lary Croft.

Nasza bohaterka to wzięta panna archeolog z szlacheckim rodowodem, która nie narzeka na brak zajęć, ale wkrótce jej życiu dostarczony zostanie dodatkowy zestaw emocji, który rozpocznie właściwą przygodę pierwszego Tomb Raidera.

Otóż kontakt z Larą nawiązuje niejaki Larson Conway, służbowy pies dony potężnej korporacji Natla Technologies, niejakiej Jacqueline Natli.

Owa businesswoman doceniając  walory Lary (w tym wypadku rzeczywiście chodzi o dobry poziom wyedukowania bohaterki oraz  inne umiejętności niekoniecznie związane z pysznościami) zleca jej odnalezienie tajemniczego artefaktu o nazwie Scion. Brytyjska panna archeolog nie rozważając długo propozycji, zlecenie przyjmuje i natychmiast wyrusza przetrzeć szlaki Donaldowi Tuskowi, a więc w kierunku słonecznego Peru.

Jak się jednak wkrótce okaże Jacqueline Natla, nie tyle uchodzi za bogatego zleceniodawcę mającego kaprysy, a za zimne i wyrachowane babsko, która rozgrywa swoją grę na kilka frontów… tak aby zrealizować demoniczny plan.

Na kilku krańcach świata, a nawet i w jego wnętrzu

W pierwszym Tomb Raiderze zwiedzimy łącznie piętnaście dużych poziomów rozmieszczonych w kilku państwach. Zaczynając od Peru (Jaskinie, miasto Vilcabamba, Zagubiona Dolina i grobowiec Qualopec), przez Antyczną Grecję  (klasztor św. Franciszka Szalonego, eee… greckie Koloseum, Pałac Midasa, cysterna i grobowiec Tihocan), po Egipt (miasto Khamoon, obelisk Khamoon i Sanktuarium Scionu), ku Zagubionemu Światu vide Atlantydzie (kopalnie Natli, Atlantis i Wielka Piramida).

Główną bohaterką gry jest oczywiście Lara Croft. Poza wspomnianym już angielskim pochodzeniem i błękitnej krwi płynącej w jej żyłach, nie sposób nie napisać o innych zaletach Lary. Chodzi mi tu o wyjątkowo sprawne posługiwanie się berettami i innymi rodzajami uzbrojenia, dużą zwinność, wyjątkowy intelekt i piękne, duże… oczy.

Po drugiej stronie barykady dużo namiesza Jacqueline Natla, która jest święcie przekonana o swoim pochodzeniu sięgającym aż do czasów Atlantydy, którą miała władać.

Stali współpracownicy Natli to flejowaty Larson Conway dysponujący intelektem i siłą wynoszącymi w sumie zero oraz znany Larze już przed laty (a więc przed pojawieniem się pierwszej części Tomb Raider) Pierre Dupont, który będzie jej dosyć skutecznie utrudniał życie, a także kilku mniej istotnych goryli Natli (m.in. Skateboard Kid i Kold).

Panna archeolog zmierzy się bezpośrednio z częścią wyżej wymienionych postaci, ale główne walki przyjdzie jej stoczyć z pupilami Gucwińskich: misiami, gackami, lwami, szczurami, centaurami, wilkami, krokodylami czy innymi większymi gadami i jaszczurami (z dinozaurami włącznie). Osobną kategorią stanowi Natla po transformacji, ale to już pozostawiam każdemu do własnego przeżycia.

Nie byłoby Tomb Raidera bez elementów zręcznościowych polegających na walce, wspinaczce i unikaniu pułapek, ale  i bez zagadek logicznych, których w grze naturalnie nie zabraknie.

Głos zza monitora

Pierwszy Tomb Raider, znany w niektórych kręgach jako “Podziemny Rajdowiec” (sic!), to klasyczna gra akcji z widokiem TPP.

Panna archeolog z Wimbledonu w pierwszej części swoich komputerowych przygód prezentuje się ładnie po dzisiejszy dzień. Grafika i animacje zaprojektowane przez Core Design wytrzymały próbę czasu, o czym świadczą liczne reedycje pierwszego Tomb Raidera. Ok, może młodszemu oku nieco dokuczać kanciastość postaci, ale uwierzcie mi, że owe kanty naprawdę fajnie prezentują się trochę wyżej pępuszka Lary.

Dubbingiem głosu Lary zajęła się niejaka Shelley Blond, która ze swojej roli wywiązała się naprawdę dobrze. Jest to jej jedyny udział w Tomb Raiderze dzięki czemu urosła do miana postaci kultowej, wielokrotnie wspominanej jako ta, której zabrakło w następnych częściach. Na pocieszenie można dodać, że głos pani Blond mogliśmy jeszcze uświadczyć m.in. w Black & White Molyneuxa z 2001 roku.

Poza oralnymi wdziękami Shelley Blond o mocnej oprawie audio w Tomb Raiderze świadczy też fakt, że obok podstawowej wersji Tomb Raidera w czasach premiery można było nabyć soundtrack do gry. Ścieżka muzyczna jest rzeczywiście niezła, ale i same odgłosy w grze wypada ocenić dobrze (ze swojej “naturalnej” roli wywiązują się perfekcyjnie).

Reasumując trzeba powiedzieć, że postać Lary Croft i pierwsza część Tomb Raidera przyczyniły się w wielkim stopniu do rozwoju gier TPP, w których mieliśmy do czynienia z bardzo dobrze rozwiniętym indywiduum. Tym większa zasługa twórców Lary, że nie tworzyli swojej historii na podstawie istniejącego już pomysłu (vide Indiana Jones), a wykreowali coś zupełniego świeżego, nieznanego wcześniej, czyt. niebezpieczną seks bombę, której popularność zbliża się do popularności Che Guevary.

Zatem: Lara na koszulki!

Musisz sięgnąć jeśli… lubisz czuć na skórze pejczyk przeznaczenia .

Some Thai people think that her face is not beautiful, but only her boobs are so great. Thailand has too many beautiful people, is the reason that Tak Bongkot Kongmalai seems so regular. Her habit makes her different. She is internationally more famous than other Thai actresses. I know that foreigners keep google her name. Thay knew her from many export movies, such as Tom Yum Kung, Bangrajan, Ai Fak, etc.

This is different from in Thailand itself. Most teenagers do not talk about her that much, although everyone knows her. Mostly they do talk about sweet-white-skin actresses and feminine-face actors. Some people who hate Tak Bongkot also rail her as a porn star. This word is not cool in Thailand. Thais do not consider it as Rock Star as American thought. She is actually not a porn star, but she has many rumors about her boyfriends. This is the main reason that some people cannot stand it.

Thai culture is intersection between low-context and high-context. Tak Bongkot tends to be very very low-context as America and Switzerland. Low-context people always do not care much about her rule in the movie or her gossip news, but they just catch up as fans. On the other hand, high-context people will keep talking and posting her bad news up on the website. Their leader is one old woman. These people like to blame other people, because they will be famous from their bad words. This makes me not sure that they are super high-context or they just want to show off.

The thing that make me interested in her more than other Thai actresses is how baring she talks. I like her interview. She is not super intelligent, but her words are friendly. When I look up English sources online, I am happy that she is so hot! I had watch her in a variety show. It is about making coffee and tea. The show sent her to be the cook’s assistant. First time, she knew that the camera was there, but when she was in hurry, she forgot everything. She tasted a milky sugar with her finger. She looks so innocence. The cook finished many cup of Thai Tea and gave them away to the audience, cup by cup, by cup, by cup. She stared at him as, “WTF?”. I like that face so much. She is not arrogant and pretending as many movie stars do.

One of my friend let me know that “Tak Bongkot” represent a bad meaning in their group. About 3 years ago, I have dinner with a group of Thai students in New York City. We talked about entertainment in general. Ome said, “I do not like Brad Pitt’s new girlfriend, Angelina Jolie, because she is just like Tak Bongkot, I mean the harlot.” That shocked me!! Both Angelina Jolie and Tak Bongkot are my favorite!! They are self-confident women. They are such the female sexy heroes in the online game. I argued with Ome, and some other friends helped to separate us.

Ome’s word is half right and half wrong. Half wrong is they are not harlot. And the half right is they have something similar. I did not really notice that, too. Once, in summer 2009, the Post Today Newspaper printed Tak Bongkot with Lara Croft, Tom Rider dress. It was for The Reality Show in Bangkok. Thai actors and actresses dressed to be all famous Hollywood stars. Tak Bongkot is the most similar one. I saw Johney Depp and Tom Cruise and stuff, but they did not look like the real guys.

I havent written for about a week. I was planning to the other day, and then I got sick with suspected swine flu! I am taking the Tamiflu meds that I have been prescribed and feel slightly better; the pain killers seem to help me faze in and out of the real world. All in all, I dont think I have had the worst case of flu ever, but it has been horrible. I am still not better in the slightest but should be in a few days. To take 5 mins on your hands and knees to get upstairs to the toilet doesnt really help esteem…

It was my friend Lauren’s 21st birthday yesterday, but alas I was too poorly to go out with her, and then go to work I will make it up to you I promise, and I hope you had a good birthday!

Today I found out that my dad has been taking great photos of Lego men!? He stole a load from me before the summer but I hadnt seen any of the produce. Here is my favourite:

El otro día, durante el ensayo de un Talk-Show en una de las clases de la Universidad, nuestro profesor de la materia nos eligió a Quique, José Mari (dos amigos) y a mí para la realización de un talk-show. Quizás porque somos los sin-vergüenza de la clase, los que hacer el payaso en tono serio nos da igual.

El tema a tratar era Internet. Al ver los tres que era un tema que dominábamos, dijimos: “vamos a hacerlo en plan coña; Internet es para el porno”. Y hoy navegando por Internet me encontré este gracioso vídeo protagonizado por Lara Croft titulado: Internet es para porno.

Dedicad un rato a ver el vídeo y así dejáis a un lado redtube, youporn, pornoaburrirse y demás webs por el estilo.

A Brief History of Tomb Raider 

Tomb Raider follows the adventures of Lara Croft, a British female archaeologist in search of ancient treasures. Tomb Raider was widely praised by gaming magazines for its revolutionary graphics, inventive game play, and involving storyline.

It was developed by Core Design and is arguably its most famous (amongst other classics such as Chuck Rock and Heimdall) and most successful game.

Developed by Toby Gard (hailed as the creator of Lara) and Paul Howard Douglas, the original Tomb Raider began development in 1993 but was not released until November 1996 for the PC, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. The game was critically acclaimed and widely influential, spawning 5 sequels with Core Design. Core developed Tomb Raider games up until the release of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, which can be argued as the most unsuccessful game in the series. 

Publisher Eidos then passed the reinvention of the franchise onto Crystal Dynamics, who in turn reinvented Lara for a new generation of gamers and hardware in Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary (a rethinking of the original game by Core Design).

There are two different continuities within the Tomb Raider video games. The first continuity was created by Core Design, and encompasses the first six Tomb Raider games. The second and current continuity was introduced by Crystal Dynamics for the series’ reinvention in Tomb Raider: Legend. Both continuities were created with the participation of Toby Gard (Gard returned to assist with the reinvention of his character in Tomb Raider: Anniversary). Lara currently stars in Tomb Raider Underworld released in 2008.

Core Design:

Core Design was set up in 1988 by Chris Shrigley, Andy Green, Rob Toone, Terry Lloyd, Simon Phipps, Dave Pridmore, Jeremy Smith and Greg Holmes. Most were former employees of Gremlin Graphics. Core Design was acquired by Eidos Interactive in 1996 through US Gold. Core continued development of the Tomb Raider games until 2003 with Angel of Darkness. The company became defunct in 2006.

Eidos Interactive:

Eidos Interactive is a publisher of video and computer games with its parent company based in England. Eidos has published all the Tomb Raider games to date. Eidos Interactive is now a part of Square Enix (April 2009). Some of Eidos portfolio of published games includes the Hitman series, Thief series and Deus Ex series.

Tomb Raider is the first game I had for my Sega Saturn and from the moment the title screen appeared and its signature title music began I was hooked. Even though I love the new games, and thoroughly enjoyed the anniversary Edition, nothing will match the feeling of playing the original for the first time. The graphics were impressive and a control system I’d not experienced before was quick and easy to get used to, it opened up a whole new world of exploration and puzzle solving as well as story telling and action.

One of my all time favourite retro games, some of my favourite levels from the original include St Francis Folly (Neptune, Thor, Atlas and Damocles puzzles) The Cistern and the Obelisk of Khamoon. The title music (and incidental music) make playing this through again worthwhile and certainly brings back a lot of memories.

A Angelina, que adora um filme no style Lara Croft está com mais um pra ser lançado o ano que vem. Se chama Salt, e ao que aparenta ela vai ter que provar se é ou não uma agente secreta russa atuando nos EUA (a guerra fria já não acabou?).

Saiu o banner e o trailler do filme hoje, ó:

O trailer é legal até, rola aquela vontade de assistir e tudo mais, mas será que vai ser bom? O filme tem previsão de estréia no meio do ano que vem nos Estados Unidos.

It can be hard to find a date when you’re the twin of a gaming icon. Nights spent all alone watching endless Friends re-runs or lying catatonic listening to William Shatner sing Common People on repeat; with dinner medallions from the microwave lasagne staining your crusty vest and sweatpants, and a half bottle of budget vodka for company – these things don’t help the love-life one little bit.

We thought we’d lend a helping hand to some of the medium’s forgotten siblings in their quest to find a soulmate by printing a few of their calling cards. It’s time for these brothers and sisters to step out of their shadowy cocoons and blossom into the love bugs they were destined to be.

1. Larry Croft

Larry’s a tall and athletic fella with a penchant for digging, spelunking and hunting, much like his sister Lara. He’s a perfect gentleman too, coming from good aristocratic stock, although you’d best steer clear of enquiring about the parents.

A huge fan of all things old and curious, our Larry’s looking for a more mature woman, someone with a story or two to tell, preferably with strange and dubious links to mythological sects and texts. He’s also a fan of old-school smoking jackets, luxury liners and racy point-and-click adventure games. But no photographers: they always Photoshop ridiculously-proportioned organs onto the poor lad. And who can live with that kind of pressure?

1. Mortal Kombat – Excellent game and the movie tranition was amazing. Seeing Sub Zero and Scorpion running amok.
2. Tomb Raider – Every gamers dream come to life with Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft!!! how much drool factor do you need
3. Resident Evil – Only the First one, the rest weren’t that great, but the first included lots of gore, zombies and guns… just what we like.
4. HitMan – I don’t care what some of you say but I liked it, the acting was dodgy, the effects weren’t great, but it had a good story and Tim Olyphant (what a stupid name) was decent in it
5. Silent Hill – One of the most scariest games ever and an easy one to trasnition into a movie..

Now for the worst

1. Super Mario Brothers – WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
2. Double Dragon – The game as great, but the movie was dire
3. BloodRayne – more like PooRayne
4. Max Payne – ok how many more movies with Mark Whalberg as a cop on the other side of the law do we need… wait here comes another one
5. Street Fighter – the only good thing was Kylie and the late Raul Julia.. apart from that this film was a DUCK!!

So, i felt, being in a laddish mood today, and still being 19, im aloud to say this…these ladies are the babes of the video games world. Originaly it was a top 5, but there is just tooo many babes.

I'm just doing this to annoy the misses, and have a laugh.

Number 10 -Dead Or Alive babes, as a whole.

They basically used the babes in bakinis to sell this game, and well u know quite a few friends upon purchasing dead or alive whem it came out were not heard of for weeks, and they were slightly more muscular in the upper bodies after not leaving their room for a month. Needless to say, they’re still virgins and play the most recent dead or alive release on xbox 360 24/7.

Number 9 – Nina Williams, Tekken

Oh nina, you’re only in my list cause i was told you had to be, as well you just don’t do it for me.

Number 8 – Jill Valentine – Resident Evil

Purely because if i was 32bit, you’d get it.

Number 7 – Kiera knightley – because i would buy a agem if she was in it.

I know, she is not in a game, but if she was, i would buy it. Its the same reason why i downloaded The Dutchess.

Number 6 – Rinoa – Final Fantasy 8

Truth be told, how can you not fancy Rinoa? She is a main character in one of the most iconic games ever, and she looks similar to my girlfriend, score.

Number 5 -Chun li – Street Fighter

Sorry chun i don’t fancy you, but Ben in my class does, so you got number 5 spot. And yes i know… lots of people fancy her, japanese people make up anime street fighter porn about her, so yes i get it, she is special. Still think she doesn’t deserve top 10 spot though.

Number 4 – Claire Redfield – Resident Evil

Claire, oh Claire, we’ve killed so many zombies together that i felt it would be unfair to you if you didn’t make the top 5.

Number 3 – Aeris/Aerith – Final fantasy 7

Because i love your character. And the game you lead in is probably my favourite game of all time.

Number 2 – Xianghua – Soulcalibur

Xianghua is the reason i bought a dreamcast, and soulcalibur. She looks to beatutiful on the front of the game, infact i would marry her if i could/ if she was real. Ah well, babes do sell video games.

Number 1 – Lara croft – Tomb Raider

Lara Croft, you’ve sold millions of games across like 8 platforms? and the reason you’ve sold so well is because your a babe. The babe; you’ve got 2 films about you, and well every man secretly fancies you, otherwise they would not buy your game. Uncharted 2 – Among Thieves (PS3)
Uncharted 2 sees the return of Nathan Drake to our consoles, and while Nate may be a fledgling adventurer in comparison to the likes of Indy and Lara he is certainly proving himself a worthy competitor.
Uncharted set a high bar for itself  in its first outing, striving to seamlessly integrate the cut scenes into the game play to give a more cinematic feel and Among Thieves picks up right where it left off. The opening sequence sees Drake wake up battered, bleeding and teetering on the edge of a derailed train car somewhere in Nepal. What happens next can only be described as a baptism of fire as you must navigate Drake to safety by scaling the the ever crumbling train. A series of flashbacks get you up to speed quickly on the hows and whys of Drakes misfotunate train journey and puts you in a race against time with a loony warlord to find the secret kingdom of Shambala, Shang ri la to you and me!
Uncharted 2 shines brightly, the storyline is as good as you would get from George Lucas (Pre daft crystal skulls) and a good deal of effort has gone into the voice acting with a few familiar faces lending their talents.
This makes the game a joy to experience and keeps you playing. The gameplay itself is handled extremely well and any kinks from the first game have been successfully ironed out. For me Uncharted 2 succeeds where Tomb Raider fails, the controls are intuitive, paths are more clearly outlined with out feeling boxed in, and the camera….oh the camera! It doesn’t fuck off and show you the unrendered pixels of the inside of someones head while you are trying to make a critical jump. A refreshing change from Ms Crofts adventures.
All in all a heady mix of action and adventure, with nice weapons to play with a beautiful surroundings to climb the biggest let down of Uncharted 2 is an obvious one, with a 6-8 hour play time you will soon find yourself at the end and wishing there was more.

And let me put it to you plain and simple – it means just that. After many horror-movie and Left for Dead marathons you see, Aileen learned that there was often a fatal flaw in the survivors plans. They run into a room, don’t check the corners and then wonder why they die when a zombie/killer/monster springs out at them from behind the door and devours them alive/slaughters/does weird monster shit to them.

Lara Croft is originally a video game and this is the second movie based on the VG character of the same name. I haven’t seen the first movie, but after seeing this one, I do want to see it. It’s by no means one of the best action/fantasy I’ve ever seen, but it is fast and fun- which is what I wanted to get from this movie anyway. It’s directed by Jan de Bont, who is actually more famous as a cinematographer than a director. He has worked on Lethal Weapon 3, which remains one of my favorite action movies. But I find him to be a talented director as well. Ever since he has directed the amazing Speed with Keanu Reeves in 1994.Sure Speed 2 was awful, but I’m willing to forgive him for that. Speed did rock. And although Lara Croft is no Speed, it is enjoyable.

Lara Croft is a British archaeleogist. She is also very fit, has amazing stamina and can kick anyone’s butt. Angelina Jolie is perfect in bringing a video game character to life; I have always thought her big eyes and extra full lips looked outer worldly anyway. The movie could very well be a spy flick because it does involve traveling around the globe, British Intelligence, a menacing scientist,Chinese bad guys and more. Of course it doesn’t lack sexual tension and intense chemistry since Lara picks her partner in this mission: Ex-marine-turned mercenary Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler for help). The mission is very difficult, if not impossible. They need to find Pandora’s Box before the scientist and his men do. And Lara isn’t exactly trusting her ex.

The movie isn’t trying to be intelligent. It doesn’t take itself seriously. It is strictly entertaİning. Kick back, and enjoy!

Thy game is but a work of art and mine heart weeps for all others… particularly that girl in the tighter than tight shorts and vomit green skintight tee (that’s Lara Croft for those.. oh never mind). Enough of thy’s and thou’s, this is just a personal note to smother Naughty Dog with virtual nicety for making such a wonderful game, as Uncharted 2 most definitely is. If you have not had the pleasure, please rectify that situation forthwith.

the group noticed bonfire flames.

Probablemente la bella y letal Lara sea el personaje femenino más popular en la historia de los videojuegos (el masculino sería sin duda cierto fontanero bigotudo y, entre los no humanos, cierta bola amarilla traga-cocos). ¿Y cuáles habrán sido sus méritos para alcanzar el más alto escalafón entre las preferencias de los jugadores?

Algunas razones sin duda “saltan a la vista”, pero bromas a parte, no cabe duda que el personaje de Lara Croft ha sido capaz de levantar pasiones entre jugadores (y jugadoras, entre las que también es inmensamente popular, por cierto) de todo el mundo a lo largo de nada menos que una década ya, y por motivos que van más allá de cuestiones como la simple “fachada” estética del personaje o si éste en esencia no es otro producto prefabricado más que obedece a unos estrictos patrones y estereotipos sexistas, tan habituales aún hoy en día en nuestra mal llamada “sociedad moderna”.

Probablemente el fuerte carácter con que se dotó al personaje, independiente, noble (y no nos estamos refiriendo a su origen aristocrático), valeroso y amante de los retos imposibles, sea una de las claves donde reside su éxito real, más allá de consideraciones puramente superficiales. Sirvan como claro ejemplo en este punto la enorme cantidad de heroínas “florero” de tantos y tantos videojuegos caídas en el olvido al poco tiempo por los aficionados, a pesar que en su momento sus creadores realizaran los mayores esfuerzos artísticos por dotarlas de unas buenas “razones” con las que seducir al siempre impresionable “gran público”.

En el caso de Lara es todo lo contrario: no está ahí acompañando al héroe de turno que tiene que salvar el mundo, con la única misión de gritar como una auténtica histérica indefensa cuando se encuentra en algún peligro, o como el tópico personaje femenino que se limita a esperar pacientemente a que la rescaten para que el mencionado héroe pueda lucirse a su costa. Lara en cambio es la heroína absoluta, una autosuficiente exploradora a quien acompañaremos a lo largo de cada una de sus arriesgadas aventuras superando mil obstáculos, enigmas, y enemigos, contando únicamente con sus propias habilidades y con los recursos que ella misma pueda conseguir en el medio donde se encuentre.

Culta y refinada, como debe exigírsele a toda señorita de noble alcurnia (siendo hija de Lord Henshingly Croft, Duque de Saint Bridget, de quien ha heredado una fortuna que incluye la mansión donde vive sola con su viejo mayordomo), Lara es capaz además de exhibir muchas otras facetas cuando la situación lo requiere: experta en técnicas de supervivencia, en toda clase de deportes de riesgo (especialmente la escalada libre), en el manejo de los más variados vehículos y armas, en técnicas de lucha cuerpo a cuerpo y en un largo etcétera más. Incluso como último recurso Lara sabe que siempre podrá contar con una poderosa arma que ni siquiera necesita entrenar: su increíble poder de seducción, que puede resultar en ocasiones igualmente útil para superar algunos obstáculos.

Repasando un poco la biografía del personaje tenemos a una joven y rica heredera de una noble familia inglesa cuya vida parecía transcurrir sin más preocupaciones hasta que un accidente aéreo en la cordillera del Himalaya la obligó a llevar a cabo la aventura más difícil en la vida de todo ser humano: sobrevivir. Tras esta determinante experiencia que cambiará su forma de ver el mundo, Lara decidirá tomar a partir de entonces las riendas de su vida y de su propio futuro, anulando su inminente matrimonio de conveniencia para embarcarse en mil y una aventuras que la llevarán a lo largo y ancho del planeta en busca de las más extrañas reliquias arqueológicas y artefactos mágicos, ocultos en lugares olvidados y remotos.

Así, el siempre misterioso Egipto ha sido uno de los escenarios preferidos por los desarrolladores de la saga, lugar donde transcurría por ejemplo la totalidad del aclamado “Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation”, cuarto título de la saga y el favorito para la crítica por su perfección técnica y su desarrollo argumental, mostrándonos por primera vez a una aprendiz Lara con su maestro Werner Von Croy y los acontecimientos que sucederían años más tarde. Curiosamente éste no suele ser el título favorito para la legión de aficionados de esta popular saga, sino por norma general el segundo episodio, el genial “Tomb Raider II: The Dagger of Xian” (opinión que plenamente comparte aquí un servidor).

Pero no solo Egipto ha contemplado las proezas de nuestra saqueadora de tumbas favorita: Grecia, Italia, Francia, Gran Bretaña, Irlanda, Rusia, China, Estados Unidos, México, Bolivia, Perú, Japón, Tailandia, la India, la Antártida… ¡y hasta la Atlántida! Son tantos los lugares que Lara ha explorado que escapan a la memoria del aficionado más incondicional de la saga.

Probablemente a nadie que haya jugado a cualquier título de la saga de Tomb Raider se le escape que tanto el personaje como el planteamiento del mismo están directamente inspirados (por no utilizar otra palabra menos diplomática) en las populares aventuras cinematográficas de Indiana Jones, algo que en principio no debería resultar más que anecdótico si tenemos en cuenta la multitud de productos de toda clase (novelas, películas, series de T.V., cómics o videojuegos) que han encontrado inspiración en tan mítico personaje creado por George Lucas, dirigido magníficamente por Steven Spielberg e interpretado aún mejor por Harrison Ford, formando un auténtico icono incorporado ya en la cultura popular de nuestro tiempo.

Pero lo que no deja de parecer cuanto menos absurdo es que, después de la descarada copia/inspiración por parte de Eidos habiendo creado el videojuego “Tomb Raider” (la primera película de la saga de Indiana Jones llevaba además por título original “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, aunque en España se renombrara como “En busca del arca perdida”), después como decimos fuera capaz de hacer la propia compañía de George Lucas un videojuego a imagen y semejanza del propio Tomb Raider, como fue el desafortunadísimo “Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine”, una aparatosa y torpe mala copia de Tomb Raider (el cual propiamente ya era una descarada copia del original concepto de Indiana Jones). El mundo sin duda está tan loco que nunca dejará de sorprendernos.

Afortunadamente, parece que ambas partes han aprendido la lección durante los años que siguieron, y así vimos cómo Lucas Arts desarrollaba un título con carácter propio y alejado de la inspiración directa de Tomb Raider como fue el estupendo “Indiana Jones y la tumba del emperador”, mientras que por su parte EIDOS comenzó a dotar a los sucesivos títulos de la saga de un carácter mucho más personal y diferenciado, alejado ya en buena medida de los originales planteamientos de la clásicas películas de Indiana Jones (como se puede ver en Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, mostrando a una Lara mucho más “humana” y menos heroína invencible). De hecho en los últimos títulos de la saga (los desarrollados por Crystal Dynamics) el personaje prácticamente parece ya una persona real de carne y hueso gracias a los avances de la técnica, más que un simple personaje de dibujos animados como habíamos visto en sus primeras entregas.

Afortunadamente para la propia saga, la marca “Tomb Raider” ha crecido tanto y ha ido configurando un universo propio tan amplio y detallado hasta el punto que ya no precisa inspirarse directamente como antaño en otras obras icónicas de la aventura, sino que puede retro-alimentarse a sí misma de su propia mitología creada en torno al personaje de Lara y de todas sus aventuras a lo largo y ancho del mundo.

El personaje de Lara ha sufrido como suele ocurrir con cualquier saga prolongada en el tiempo toda una transformación desde su primera aparición hasta nuestros días. Desde los (entonces) rudimentarios polígonos que le dieron vida en el primer Tomb Raider de 1996, en el que Lara aún no podía “hacer gala”  de una de sus señas de identidad (no, “esas” no, me refiero a otra) como es su larga trenza, pasando por las progresivas mejoras en los dos títulos siguientes (en los que la mencionada trenza ya ondeaba al viento, haciendo las delicias de los fans más fetichistas), evolucionando después radicalmente en el cuarto título ya citado (The Last Revelation), en el que  pudimos disfrutar de una Lara increíblemente mejorada y que se mantuvo prácticamente igual en el siguiente título.

Pero sin duda donde sufrió una nueva y profunda remodelación fue en el sexto episodio (The Angel of Darkness), otorgándosele al personaje una impecable apariencia, mucho más realista y natural respecto a como nos habíamos acostumbrado a verla hasta entonces (siendo la Lara en mi opinión más atractiva y “humana” al mismo tiempo de las hasta ahora vistas, más incluso que la Lara hiper-realista de las últimas entregas).

No sabemos cuántas veces habrá tenido que acudir la bella Lara al cirujano plástico con tantas remodelaciones como ha sufrido a lo largo de estos años, pero lo que parece innegable es quién ha sido el máximo beneficiado de sus últimas intervenciones: su espalda.

Lara ha protagonizado la totalidad de la popular saga “Tomb Raider”, desde la aparición del primer título en 1996 para P.C. y PlayStation hasta el año 2008, con el de momento último título llamado “Tomb Raider: Underworld”. Tan solo en la sexta entrega de la saga, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, compartió por primera vez algo de su protagonismo (hasta entonces absoluto) con otro personaje llamado Curtis Trent. Esta importante novedad no acabó de agradar en demasía a su legión de fans repartida todo el mundo, como tampoco desgraciadamente el juego en sí, a pesar de los esfuerzos que se realizaron por intentar renovar la saga, en un título bastante innovador que a mí desde luego me gustó bastante, tanto por su ambientación como por la novedosa posibilidad de elegir nuestras respuestas en los diálogos con diferentes personajes del juego, que le daba un toque aún más de aventura que de mero juego de acción.

Cabe destacar el relevo en el estudio encargado de desarrollar las entregas de la saga a partir de precisamente esta entrega tan denostada, desplazando Crystal Dynamics a Core Design tras los decepcionantes resultados en público y crítica del mencionado “Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness”, y para intentar de paso enderezar la tendencia general a la baja que estaban evidenciando los últimos títulos de la saga. Tomb Raider Legend supuso la reincorporación de Toby Gard, el creador del primer Tomb Raider, al equipo de desarrollo, lo cual supuso toda una garantía para ofrecer ahora sí a su legión de fans un título a la altura de las altas espectativas depositadas siempre en esta mítica saga.

Tras una gran acogida de este innovador Tomb Raider (aunque fue criticada su corta duración y su control no demasiado preciso en ocasiones, como en las fases submarinas), le siguió al poco tiempo un remake del juego original que empleaba el reciente motor gráfico estrenado en Tomb Raider Legend, y en el 2008 hemos visto finalmente el último título aparecido hasta ahora: Tomb Raider Underworld, que concluye la trama dejada a medias en el anterior Tomb Raider Legends (otra cuestión que fue de lo más criticada también en su momento junto a su corta duración y control).

Recientemente han aparecido los primeros bocetos de la que será la novena y aparentemente revolucionaria nueva entrega de la saga, con un estilo muy diferente al habitual, ya que cambiará la habitual linealidad de misiones por un amplio escenario situado en una isla japonesa en la que tendremos una libertad total de acción y en la que habrá que demostrar nuestras habilidades de exploración, investigación y supervivencia.

Éstas han sido hasta ahora las portadas de los 8 títulos que conforman la serie principal de Tomb Raider:

Por supuesto no podemos olvidarnos del espectacular remake del primer título de la saga aparecido poco después de Tomb Raider Legend: Tomb Raider Anniversary, conmemorando los 10 años de vida de la franquicia desde 1996. El juego empleaba el innovador motor gráfico y controles de Tomb Raider Legend y nos volvía a sumergir en la apasionante aventura original de Lara contra su archi-enemiga Natla. Aunque para mí el tipo de control “moderno” no es tan agradable como el antiguo, la verdad es que disfruté de este título como desde hacía tiempo que no lo hacía con esta gran saga desde sus tres primeros títulos.

El juego contó (además de la habitual para P.C.) con versiones para diversas máquinas de la actual generación, pudiendo la de Xbox 360 incluso ser descargada directamente por episodios del Bazar de Xbox 360 y añadirse sobre la base de Tomb Raider Legend (debíamos tener este juego previamente), como si fuera una expansión más, saliendo así más económico en su momento que comprar el título completo en una tienda convencional).

También es de destacar la notable versión realizada para PSP, con una calidad visual impresionante, así como la realizada para Wii, que añadía nuevos puzzles y retos pensados para el original control de la Wii.

Paralelamente a la “serie regular” aparecida tanto para ordenadores (P.C./Mac)  como para las más variadas consolas domésticas (PlayStation 1, 2 y 3, SEGA Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360 o para Wii), a Lara la hemos podido ver también en las pequeñas pantallas de las consolas portátiles, con títulos por otra parte de notable calidad como el desarrollado  para Game Boy Color (Tomb Raider: Curse of the Sword), para Game Boy Advance (Tomb Raider: The Prophecy y una versión de Tomb Raider Legend), para N-Gage (con su versión reeditada del primer Tomb Raider) y también para las portátiles de nueva generación, como Nintendo DS (con versiones de Tomb Raider Legends y Underworld) y PSP (con versiones de Tomb Raider Legends, Anniversary y Underworld). Además de para todas estas consolas portátiles, otros dispositivos móviles han visto también a Lara en sus pantallas, como en la impresionante versión para PDA del primer Tomb Raider y varios títulos para teléfonos móviles (como Tomb Raider: The Osiris Codex, Tomb Raider: Quest for Cinnabar o versiones también de Tomb Raider Legends y Underworld).

Por último entre el nutrido número de títulos que componen el universo de Tomb Raider no hay que olvidar tampoco las expansiones oficiales que tuvieron los primeros títulos (en el ámbito estrictamente de P.C.): Tomb Raider I: Unfinished Business, Tomb Raider II: The Golden Mask, Tomb Raider III: The Lost Artifact y el nivel especial de Tomb Raider: The Exclusive Times Level realizado con el motor gráfico de la cuarta entrega y que podía descargarse gratuitamente de Internet. Precisamente ese “Engine” gráfico fue incluido en el siguiente título para deleite de su extensa comunidad de fans, que gracias a él han podido desarrollar cientos de nuevos niveles para seguir disfrutando de las aventuras de Lara de forma prácticamente ilimitada.

Como decía estas expansiones solo pudieron ser disfrutadas por los usuarios de P.C., no siendo incluídas en las versiones para consola de aquella época (Playstation, SEGA Saturn y luego Dreamcast) ya que estos packs de niveles extras salieron con posterioridad a los títulos originales (habitualmente en las versiones económicas que aparecían al cabo de un año, como un extra que hicera aún más interesante adquirirlas), pero en las actuales sí que se han visto aparecer nuevas expansiones gracias a la distribución online, como las dos recientes aparecidas para Xbox 360 (siendo además exclusivas para esta consola): “Tomb Raider Underworld: La sombra de Lara” y “Tomb Raider Underworld: bajo las cenizas”, que nos brindarán unas horas adicionales de entretenimiento.

Para finalizar con este artículo dedicado a nuestra ilustre cazadora de reliquias no podíamos dejar de hacer referencia a las numerosas modelos y actrices profesionales que han encarnado alguna vez a Lara. Éstas fueron las más recordadas en su momento:

A lo largo de los años Lara ha sido encarnada por numerosas modelos en sus campañas publicitarias para la promoción de los distintos videojuegos de la saga. Algunas desde luego que no se parecían ni de noche, y simplemente estaban ahí marcando tipo “disfrazadas” de Lara, pero alguna que otra como Nell McAndrew o Rhona Mitra lo hicieron realmente bien en mi opinión, teniendo un cierto “aire” al personaje virtual, por lo que quedaban bastante bien encarnándolo (además de ser ya de por sí unas modelos muy atractivas).

Pero sin duda si hay alguien de carne y hueso que para siempre se recordará asociado al nombre de Lara Croft es la popular Angelina Jolie, que encarnó al personaje en sus dos primeras adaptaciones cinematográficas, unos films de lo más discretos artísticamente pero que se dejaban ver dentro de lo que cabía (al menos como films “de palomitas”).

Y hasta aquí hemos llegado con este amplio repaso sobre uno de los personajes más idolatrados en el mundo de los videojuegos y que mayor número de fans incondicionales tiene (incluído un servidor, por supuesto). Tomb Raider Underworld e novidades da Core …

O novo Tomb Raider se baseia em vários mitos de civilizações antigas que de alguma forma apontam para um mesmo lugar.

Lara deverá percorrer vários lugares do mundo e alguns submundos ainda não explorados, agora com ainda mais emoção.

No jogo há uma moto (semelhante a de Legend), que poderá ser usada para explorar os cenários do jogo.

Esta será a continuação da história de Legend, quem não a jogou pode não entender boa parte do enredo do game.

Além de Legend, a história também é baseada em Tomb Raider Anniversary. Em Underworld, a antiga inimiga de Lara, Jacqueline Natla, retorna juntamente com Amanda. A história baseia-se toda na mãe de Lara, sendo que nesta aventura, descobriremos se a mesma ainda está viva. A primeira fase funciona como um treinamento na Mansão Croft em chamas.

Underworld basea-se no martelo do temível deus nórdico do trovão, Thor.

Lendas dizem que ele possuía um martelo com o poder de “esmagar” vales e montanhas, com a força para destruir até mesmo os deuses. Por mais de mil anos, tem existido apenas como um mito…

Pelo menos até agora. Lara Croft vai tentar encontrar esse martelo para ver se ele lhe dá respostas sobre o paradeiro da sua mãe.

Na versão anterior Anniversary deixou muitos mistérios que em Underworld deverão ser desvendados. Lara passará dos limites para descobrir coisas que a humanidade jamais deveria descobrir!

Aparentemente, no trailer oficial do jogo, Lara explode sua própria mansão. Mas depois de jogar a fase Protegidos pelos Mortos, é possível ver o estilo do novo clone de Lara (que não é o mesmo da verdadeira), e ainda por cima é igual ao estilo da “Lara Croft” do trailer.

É no final da fase Protegidos pelos Mortos que ocorre o momento em que a mansão Croft é explodida.

Para conseguir o Martelo de Thor, Lara precisará do cinto e das luvas do mesmo, pois, reza a lenda que Thor só podia carregar Mjolnir usando um par especial de luvas e seu cinto que lhe dava mais força para sustentar o peso e dobrava seus poderes.

O que deixou a desejar é que no final do jogo, Lara encontra a mãe de uma forma intimidadora, um clone de sua mãe criado por Natla, com a aparência de que está com metade do seu corpo sem a pele e age como alguns inimigos de Lara neste episódio (soltando um vapor azulado da cabeça).

O clone da mãe de Lara chegou a tentar ataca-lá, mas sem sucesso, pois Lara atirou nela com suas “famosas” pistolas antes do ataque terminar, fazendo assim a Lady Amélia DeMonay “falsa” cair de uma altura assustadora em direção a uma “Lava Azul”, que era presente em volta de todo o ambiente.

Apesar de que alguns diserem que a mãe de Lara só irá aparecer se todos os tesouros do jogo/game foram recolhidos ainda tem pessoas que dizem que não.

O jogo possui expansões como o modulo Lara’s Shadow (Sombra de Lara) onde você pode controlar a clone de Lara. Mais rápida, forte e com grandes poderes que inclusive aparece no 1º video aqui no post!

Desde sua primeira versão Tomb Raider não perdeu seu estilo e jogabilidade, ja seus gráficos e principalmente Lara Croft foram amadurecendo com o passar do tempo.

O primeiro Tomb Raider já possuia bons movimentos e jogabilidade,Lara com suas inseparáveis pistolas Dual,e belos cenários como cachoeiras,mosteiros e até mesmo a mansão Croft.

Os gráficos eram muito fracos se igualados aos de atualmente ,ao invés de matilhas de lobos  mais pareciam  quadrados ambulantes, hoje existe muito  mais realidade e assimilação com a realidade nos levando a cenários ainda mais aprimorados e belos.

E lara que deixou de parecer uma boneca e cada dia mais se parece com uma mulher extremamente sensual…

Novidades…

O veterano da indústria dos games Ian Livingstone, executivo da Eidos, falou sobre Tomb Raider ao site Gaming Indians.

Segundo Livingstone, as baixas vendas de Tomb Raider: Underworld, lançado no ano passado, não prejudicaram o futuro da icônica heroína dos games Lara Croft. Tanto que uma continuação já está em andamento.

“O próximo Tomb Raider, acredito, surpreenderá muita gente e revigorará a franquia”, disse. “Há algumas coisas incríveis que estamos fazendo na nova aventura que vão fazer você dizer, ‘Oh Lara, eu te amo tanto!’”, concluiu enigmático.

No início do ano, a Eidos declarou que uma reinvenção ao estilo que James Bond ganhou em Cassino Royale é prevista para a aventureira. Fala-se até em deixar Lara Croft mais “amigável” às jogadoras de videogames…
