Do you ever notice particularly pretty details of a clothing tag, or the intricate etchings of a jea

Do you ever notice particularly pretty details of a clothing tag, or the intricate etchings of a jean’s button? I do, and I always feel like a piece of clothing becomes so much more special when there’s some secret, beautiful, tag hiding inside. Grayhood, or Dan Gneiding, is an amazing designer who makes these kinds of things happen. Gneiding is the senior graphic designer at Urban Outfitters where he has designed labels for Silence + Noise, BDG and Lark & Wolff by Steven Alan. He has also worked with Anthropologie on labels such as Edme & Esyllte, Knitted & Knotted and Eloise. After peeking at his work, I now have an even bigger appreciation for the smaller details. Check out his designs below as well as his fantastic online sketchbook.

The folks at Urban Outfitters sat down with designer and hero to the woven shirted masses Mr. Steven

The folks at Urban Outfitters sat down with designer and hero to the woven shirted masses Mr. Steven Alan to discuss the new line Lark & Wolff. The interview sheds some light on a few bits of Steven Alan trivia, for instance how the designer got his start (vintage watches!), and where the Lark & Wolff name comes from (a girl!). Have to give it to the UO people, the video is well made and anything new we can learn about Steve is cool.

The new Steven Alan for Urban Outfitters collection Lark & Wolff — you know the one that isn

The new Steven Alan for Urban Outfitters collection Lark & Wolff — you know the one that isn’t supposed to be available until around July 4th — is currently available at the NoHo Urban Outfitters on Broadway. The collection looks good and I even picked up two button-down shirts for $58 each. The UO people have the preppy offerings merchandised with chinos, skinny ties, Bass Weejuns and other appropriate items. I have to say that I liked the wovens and you could definitely see the Steven Alan touch in everything. The store didn’t seem to have the entire collection, just a small collection of men’s and women’s from what I saw.
