I actually passed the physics test, even though I really don’t get what Im doing. Im bored. Tried to do some work for school, didn’t go so well. Been so freakin dizzy since music class! (which was around 3pm). It’s really hard playing base guitar when your dizzy… messed up the beat several times because of it. :S

So… the girl from the blind date read my last blog (I gave it to my friend and she passed it along). Only problem is that it made her feel kind of bad and me look like I was desperately impatient. And now that I re-read it from her perspective, I feel bad! Cause I can totally see her point.

Sure, I started off with the “Oh me! Oh my! How lame, oh lame, am I?” crap, but at the end it could easily be interpreted like I was putting it all on her by saying she now had my contact info but hadn’t contacted me! Like that’s fair! I’m the lame one that didn’t talk to her on our date! And, of course, that wasn’t what I meant (famous last words)! The part about her not contacting me yet was there for dramatic affect. Anyone that knows me knows I do that!

Oh, but wait, she doesn’t know me! I didn’t talk to her! How could she know that?

You know, sometimes, I can be really stupid!

But, there is a silver lining! We do still have the second date planned. It looks like it will be sooner then I originally thought (YAY!). And, best of all, she’s still looking forward to it! (thus the title of this post)

So, blind date girl (no I’m not giving you guys her name), if you happen to read this, please understand that while I may be an idiot at times, I’m usually a well-intentioned idiot. And, that I’m sorry for not talking to you in the first place. I promise, I totally plan on talking to you on our next date! In fact, I stopped on my way home tonight and bought some Miracle Grow (I checked, it says it works on nuts) just to make sure!

I would not deny this; I was highly skeptical of the movie. How do you put together the lives of two completely different women from different eras?

Ah even so, I forgot it was all about food(I believe it brings the world together), and I forgot it was by Hollywood(but of course).

The show was simply stunning. There were no overly complicated themes and no overly sappy scenes. As simple as it was, everything was well played out, and this movie made me so so so happy. No, being happy is an understatement; This show rekindled the hope that I thought I lost.

I especially loved how Julia Child was so optimistic about almost everything. Can’t cook? I’ll learn. Being outcasted as a female? I’ll just try doubly or even triply hard. Can’t pass my exam just because of bias? I’ll survive. Her happiness infiltrated me, and even when her husband was in a tight situation, she could easily coax him by her laughter. This was it; no frills, no drama. She just went ahead to do whatever she liked and was passionate about and I respect her tremendously for that. No doubt she was eccentric, but you cannot blame me for loving every minute of it. In my opinion, Meryl Streep deserves an Oscar for her outstanding performance here.

I guess Julie Powell was the one I could totally relate to. She doesn’t keep a “hobby” for long, and she has such a short attention span. Moreover, I find myself nodding to her every outburst and thought. I am no stranger the feeling of how I drop my hobbies after a month or so because I simply do not have the confidence to succeed. She struggles with her work, longs to write a book, but nothing good ever comes her way. Even though I do not struggle with my life as per say, I do find myself losing the spark for life. Long gone is the Jing Wei who was enthusiastic in everything she did. As I slip into this monotonous routine of my life, the more I lack the confidence to take up something challenging. In a way, Julie’s life resonates with mine. However, her attempt at a food blog is akin to a fairytale that gave her a second chance at life. She succeeded in the end even though there were several trying times. This sparked off that hope in me. Here I was, looking at the lives of two completely women, and suddenly, I was full of hope.

Perhaps it was the fact that the story was really relatable and it was further based on a true story. Perhaps it was a sign from up above that it was time to get my life going again. I don’t know. I just knew that I had to do something with my life, no matter what the thing was.

Then before I knew it, here I was, blogging again. I found a renewed strength to continue to blog again after so long. I used to love blogging, then hated it, then completely shutting off the thought of blogging. As to what the movie had tried to portray, blogging isn’t at all personal. You share your life with complete strangers, and you practically reveal too much of your personal information. I wanted to lock my blog up, but at the same time, I wanted to share my feelings and I wanted the attention. You could say that I had a paradoxical moment with blogging, just like what Julie faced. How much is too personal? How much is enough?

I guess this is a subjective issue to all bloggers out there, but I have no regrets now. I do not wish to be as popular as XiaXue, I just needed an outlet to confirm my thoughts. So here I am again, blogging and scrap-booking plainly because these are the outlets that I feel most at ease with. Its like how Julie relieves stress by cooking hard.

So this is it. This is how much Julie and Julia means to me.

A night after a 8-0 loss in Waterloo, the Guelph Hurricanes bounced back and posted a character win by beating  the slumping Stratford Cullitons 6-3.

“They showed a lot of character to come back after a tough loss last night. This club has a lot of heart and I am proud of them.” says Hurricanes Head Coach Jim MacEachern

The win moves Guelph’s record to 8-15-2 for 18pts., while the loss which was the 10th in a row for the Cullitons, moves Stratford’s record to 12-12-0 24pts..

Six Hurricanes players each collected 2 pts. (Luca Penzo, Dan Mohle, Martin Kudla, Mike McFarlane, Ken Rolph and Mike Iacocca) and Chris McDougall returned between the pipes to 28 of 31 shots.

• Although Chris McDougall’s rights were traded earlier this week from the Kitchener Rangers to the Peterborough Petes, he will remain playing with the Hurricanes for the time being.
• Also, I received word from the Hurricanes trainers that injured Kitchener Dutchmen defenceman Brant Nicolson was released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Last week he crashed into the boards and was carried off on a stretcher.

The Hurricanes next game is this coming Thursday as they seek revenge from the Waterloo Siskins at The Sleeman Centre. Please note the game time is 7:45pm.

Hey guys! Its kat! Ive been watching and viewing my clustermaps and views lately. I HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE! But I have good news and bad news, as usual, i will do bad news first. The bad news is, due to many tests every week for me with my puffle middle school, me and misty are losing much time to update this blog. And sadly, my goal of being a famous club penguin blogger is starting to crash, due to me and her losing interest little by little of blogging and a little bit of Club Penguin. My membership will also expire today or tomorrow. BUT: Here is the good news: If i get over 10 comments on my site, I will keep going on for this blog (just to make sure people are viewing this blog) for a very long time, trying my best to be active, and have cool stuff in the future, being very sucessful! I will also renew my membership. So, I don’t want to miss all these upcoming AWESOME club penguin stuff, SO COMMENT RIGHT AWAY!!! It means SOOO MUCH. You have nooo idea. Jag blir inte speciellt upprörd av den här M&S reklamen som har dragit på sig en drös anmälningar för kvinnoförnedring, faktiskt. Mer fylld av nån slags avig “hem”längtan till London, Xmas the English way. mince pies och turkey with stuffing (och ja, det ÄR godare än julbord!).

Våra barns tvåspråkighet möts nästan bara av avund – tänk att få växa upp med TVÅ språk och som svensk ha engelskan “gratis”. (Jag avundas dem också – jag fick minsann jobba på att lära mig engelska!)

Äldsta tjejens kommentar när hon började skolan i England efter ett år i kinesisk skola i Hong Kong:

- Mamma, vet du? Barnen pratar bara ETT språk?!

Hon var fyra år – och hade dittills bara varit omgiven av barn som pratade minst två språk, ofta fler. Fattigare? Knappast.

Jag har svårt att inte reagera när dessa två nyheter dyker upp på samma dag;

Den kinesiska kampen för att vinna engelska-racet över Indien OCH svenska akademins ord om “övertro på engelskans betydelse”.

Det pågår ett race därute i världen – Kina vill slå Indien i antalet engelsktalande i landet. För ekonomins skull, för utvecklingens skull, för framtidens skull…

Ja, och? Genomtänkt och långsiktigt, så klart. Precis som Kina är. Tänker inte i år eller decennier utan i årtusenden (och nej, jag har inte sagt att ALLT som sker i KIna därmed är rätt, men det finns en logik i det mesta, även om den inte är en som vi gillar).

Och i det racet vill vi i Sverige uppenbarligen inte vara med…

För samma dag läser jag detta:

“…engelskan har fått för stark ställning i Sverige, på bekostnad av andra språk”

Vad drar man för slutsatser av det? Svenska – vårt eget minoritetsspråk som talas av nio miljoner eller så – är viktigare för vår framtid och vår utveckling än världsspråket engelska?

I don´t think so.

Svenska akademin hävdar att det inte finns bevis för att barnen lär sig språket bättre för att de börjar tidigare. Jag hävdar att de så, så fel. Mina egna tre – och ett rätt stort antal vänners barns – är visserligen inte statistiskt underlag, men en del hands-on erfarenhet har jag ändå av barns två-språkighet

Ungarna kanske inte lär sig snabbare – men de lär sig BÄTTRE, får ett bättre uttal och ett naturligare förhållningssätt mot främmande språk.

Nåt säger mig att ungarna, dina och andras, inte kommer att tacka svenska akademin…

There are a series of falls along this stretch of the river, including a section I have been unable to reach because of the drop. One day I hope to trace the river upstream and locate the last section of the falls and get some photos.

The area photographed includes some great little spots for a dip on a hot day.
