Heavy progressive rock. This is probably what Dream Theatre would sound like if they didn’t have their heads up their asses. Brilliant mix of psychedelic influences, distorted guitar and tribal rhythms. Although experimental use of time signatures is widespread, 5/4 is the one most used, and most songs are in D. Sacred geometry is an inspiration of the band and it is evident throughout. The whole album can be seen as a journey into the mind and spiritual realization, ending in the crucifixion of the ego. Quasi-philosophy aside, Lateralus is a brilliantly crafted work of art both instrumentally and lyrically.

I decided to choose this as my first upload because it has been, since the day it was released, perhaps my favourite album. I know it is not a particulary “rare find” or anything like that, and will in the future try to spotlight lesser known, but still great, works.

El grupo de metal norteamericano Tool creó la canción Lateralus que aparentemente es, pues eso, una simple canción más pero, como demuestra el siguiente vídeo, hay algo oculto. Descúbrelo. (está en inglés pero se entiende bastante bien):

Nota: No hace falta ver todo el vídeo ya que dura 9 minutos, pero si te gusta el metal es muy bonita. 

Como demuestra el vídeo, el batería Danny Carey realiza parte de la secuencia de Fibonacci (al revés) a base de percusión.  Bonito detalle para los amantes de la numerología, como lo son varios integrantes del grupo, y curiosa e innovadora manera de tocar.

This song is something more then just tools hit song, this song represents how we as consciousness more into more complex states of being and how we are not stuck where we are, we are capable of always growing and learning more and expanding the ever lasting life we have for our usage to roam the program we call life, but of course everything will come to it’s time because of this Golden Ratio.
