Lately, Kelly’s life has exploded. Not only did theCity just get picked up for another season, but she’s officially announced her own show on Bravo. She took the time to answer some questions this week, letting us in on why she’s decided to let the cameras into her life and her role as a mentor:

When you first met Lauren Conrad did you imagine a career in reality TV awaited?
Kelly Cutrone: [laughs] Oh god, no. Talk about being in the middle of a fairytale and a carcrash simultaneously. I never saw that one coming. I didn’t even know what the show was, that’s the funniest part.

What made you take a second look at the medium?
Kelly: I asked myself why Anna Wintour would choose to be a part of it. Everyone knows how much she loves Teen Vogue, so to put the magazine out there like that was obviously part of something bigger. It’s been a gnarly ride, but an awesome one too.

Were you apprehensive about playing such a large role on two shows?
Kelly: I didn’t know if I would be in the middle of a burned-out kamikaze death spiral or jumping over this crevice into a new world of communicating and distributing media. Now, in 2009 we’re seen this transition from old traditional media has been very interesting. I think “The City” is an amazing show because it features Bergdorf’s and Manolo Blahnik — people who wouldn’t have fit into a template like this five years ago.

It’s also been interesting seeing the progression of these girls under your tutelage.
Kelly: I’m thinking of opening up a college — a finishing school, of sorts. See, all these kids pay a lot of money to go to school and learn about the fashion industry from people who never worked in it. There’s a big different between fashion theory and practical stuff, like launching a brand. That’s why I should have a three-month finishing school. It would be very lucrative and entrepreneurially, it would be a good next step. I’m chomping at the bit to do that next.

A good dose of reality for these girls so they know what they’re getting into!
Kelly: It’s a tough job, it really is. I always say the definition of a fashion person is a masochist who likes to travel.

Do you lower the expectations of what you expect from Lauren, Whitney or Roxy?
Kelly: They’re on par with the positions they’re in. These are not the top dogs, they’re assistants. All I want Roxy to do is not get me fired, not talk about boys, show up to work on time and bring a pen. Pretty basic stuff — it’s like assistant 101.

Plus, Stephanie set the bar pretty damn low!
Kelly: [laughs] Aw, I feel bad. That was the funniest, saddest part. Dude, she put “handbag designer” as the objective on her resume. When I saw that, I was in shock. I didn’t go in there wanting to have a moment like that with her. I just thought I’d let Lauren look after her while at the same time teaching her why you don’t hire friends.

That seems to be one of your big lessons — what was the best piece of advice you ever received?
Kelly: Just to keep going. There are so many heartbreaking things about just being human, let alone when you try to follow your dreams in a harsh industry. This is not a place where people say, “excuse me,” or “please.” When you’re smart or special, you think that’s going to be acknowledged and celebrated. Then you get hit. My mom always said, j”ust get back up, go back to work and do it again the next day.”

Do you think Whitney is too thin-skinned for the fashion world?
Kelly: No, it’ll teach her that. The industry is a great mother, father, mentor. She’s going to get her marks, it’s inevitable.

Like in tonight’s finale — she tries to put on a fashion show for her line, right?
Kelly: Yes, and at one point I realize that I’m not only feeling maternal toward her and being a great philosopher, but secretly, “Oh god, I’m putting my name on her show.” It’s no longer about me wanting her to do a good job, but, “You better not f*** up because I’m putting my name on the show too!”

I know you have a new show starting on Bravo in February. But do you think you’ll be back for another season of “The City?”
Kelly: I hope so. Fingers crossed. I’m just really happy that I’m on a pretty fashion show that makes kids want to know how to have their own business. There aren’t that many examples of women on TV who are real, single moms and do things their own way. I’m just glad not to be on a serial killer vampire show!

Usually we don’t attribute an entire post to a twitpic, but Lauren looks so good in this photo we thought is was deserving. Earlier today she tweeted:

It seems her style book, being published in Fall 2010, is coming together quickly. If her tips help us look half as good as she does in this pic, we’ll surely be purchasing the book.

Kristin’s “After Show” look this week was an edgy black and white ensemble that was oddly reminiscent of Lauren’s VMA dress. The color tone of the dresses as well as the geometric patterns that sweep across the torso of the garment definitely caused us to take a second look. Lauren’s cap sleep dress has a softer feeling than Kristin’s pointed sleeves.

In a recent poll you all said you still prefer Lauren as the leading lady of theHills, do you think Kristin has fallen short once again?

It seems Whitney’s fashion line is doing better than Lauren’s, and she’s officially taking her style to Ireland. Ali Murray, owner of Dublin store Alila, has purchased the exclusive Irish rights to sell Whitney Eve.

“I picked what I thought were the nicest pieces and would most suit the Irish customer.”

Irish women will now be able to wear the funky, fashion forward styles Whitney wears and creates. We expect more retailers will be jumping at the chance to purchase selling rights to Whit’s new line.

Overall, most of the characters on theHills are likable. You may not think they’re the most intelligent, or the hardest working, or the best role models. But for many of us, they are likable. Especially before Spencer entered. That being said, there have been some moments when they weren’t at their best. In honor of the season finale tomorrow, we thought we’d delve into some of them before they seek to make more moments tomorrow.

Whitney

For this, we must start with Whitney. Whitney is the easiest character to like. She never put her personal life on theHills so we didn’t have that to criticize, and even on theCity she’s pretty controlled and without huge mistakes. So her least honorable moment is quite simple. She’s even blogged about it. The Good Morning America tumble. Whitney was constantly being cast as a model in shows and on TV despite the fact that she wanted to work behind the scenes. She proudly walked on stage to model the Hillary Swank backless dress, and fell down the stairs on live TV. The worst part: Super Intern Emily, tired of being upstaged by Whitney, was secretly loving it.

Redemption: Whitney’s redemption was how she bounced back after the fall. It was almost as good as J. Lo’s fall and recovery on the AMA’s last week. As J. Lo said it’s not about the fall, it’s how you handle it.

Audrina

Audrina’s least honorable moment was also very easy for us to select. Although she is giving the moment some competition with her pitiful inability to move on from Justin Bobby this season, accusing Lauren of hooking up with Justin takes the cake. Audrina claimed she heard that Justin and Lauren hooked up from Justin’s friend. She felt this gave her full license to believe said rumor, instead of believing her friend Lauren who told her numerous times that it wasn’t true! This changed Audrina in our eyes forever.

Redemption: There was none. After it happened, Audrina went on Ellen to tell the world she thought Lauren really did hook up with Justin because Lauren hung up on her when she called to ask. What Audrina deceptively forgot to say was that this was like the smabillionth time she asked Lauren, and Lauren denied it every smabillionth time.

Lauren

Keeping with the Lauren, Audrina, Justin theme, Lauren’s least honorable moment could have been refusing to accept Justin and Audrina’s relationship. But since Audrina’s moment wipes the relevancy of this away, we’ll go with Lauren turning down Paris. Even though this was dishonorable in that she risked a career opportunity for a guy who was unready, unwilling, and unable to be the boyfriend any girl needs, hindsight is 20/20.

Heidi

Her least favorite moment was obviously Spencer and everything that had to do with him. Most of the dirt she did to Lauren, or passively allowed Spencer to do to Lauren happened off camera. So we’ll go with something she did to Spencer. Remember the pregnancy test? Telling him she took a pregnancy test and mentioning that it was negative 30 minutes later to “test him” to see how he would handle it, is enough to piss anyone in that position off.

Redemption: There was none. She’s still with Spencer and writing all about how she stabbed Lauren in the back purposely to get famous. As for Spencer, she’s still deceptively tricking him with pregnancy tests and such.

Stephanie

We didn’t really know Stephanie when she went up to Lauren in a club and screamed at her for fighting with her brother’s fiance, Heidi. For that matter, Lauren didn’t know her either. That makes it all sorts of immature and uncouth. But we didn’t have many expectations of her at that point. This is why her least honorable moment was going on a “non” date with Doug, after she patched things up with Lauren and befriended her. Lauren had just broke it off with Doug, whom she had dated in high school, and Stephanie, enthralled with his private jet, went to a restaurant with Doug. It looked like a date. There was dim light, googly eyes etc. Although Stephanie denied “dating” Doug, she was really playing a game of semantics. She should’ve asked Lauren how she felt about Stephanie “restauranting” with Doug, or whatever it was they were doing. That would be the polite and proper thing to do.

Redemption: Stephanie has calmed down since first having her brush with fame on theHills. She hasn’t went after anyone’s boyfriends or ex-boyfriends, that we can recall. Which brings us to Kristin.

Kristin

We don’t have much to pick from with Kristin, but we guess we don’t need a lot. Kristin has reduced the class on theHills. That’s not to say we think she’s an unclassy girl. But her character on the show is without class. She came in the first episode cursing at everyone, and in last week’s episode, she went to a “ghetto” (her word, not ours) strip club, had a girl do something obscene to her, before tonguing down Stacie.

That being said, we actually thing her lack of dignity on theHills is even less honorable. Kristin throws herself at every Tom, Dick, and Justin, whether or not they have boyfriends. On Laguna Beach, Kristin called all the shots and didn’t pine over any guy. Now she’s giving second, third, and fourth chances.

Redemption: She’s just acting. Really folks, we can’t take Kristin seriously on this show.

It was Lauren Conrad who famously said Brody Jenner loves his ladies.  But Lauren didn’t mean that Brody loved one lady.  No one saw Brody settling down so hard so fast.  But settled down he is.

Upon returning home to LA he tweeted to Jayde: “I will be home in 6 hours to give you that massage.. Love you!”

As any Hollywood couple does when rumors of a breakup swirl, they go out on a date to one of the most photographed restaurants in all of LA.  Brody and Jayde paraded their love last night at Mr. Chow, Saturday November 28.

Brody was surrounded by ladies as he brought his mother Linda Thompson along while Jayde brought her mother along.  Jayde and her mother wore matching purple outfits, not to be out “matched” by Brody and Linda who both wore black.

People’s Revolution’s Kelly Cutrone was recently interviewed by the LA Times on her life as a publicist and being on a reality show. Not only did she give a brief overview of her past and how she got to where she is, but she also told the LA Times how she felt about Roxy Olin, Whitney Port, Lauren Conrad, and their clothing lines.

Kelly’s past is actually very interesting:

Cutrone, 44, has built her success from a series of similarly correct hunches. At 21, she moved to New York City from suburban Syracuse with $2,000 from her father, who according to Cutrone, said: “This is the only money I’ll ever give you if you want to move to that hellhole. Call me anytime to pick you up and bring you back home. Otherwise, you’re on your own.”

Evicted from her apartment after six months, because she couldn’t pay the rent, it was Hayden-Guest who suggested that she should become a publicist. Cutrone says that when she asked him what a publicist did, he answered, “Oh, it’s nothing. It’s what you do anyway. You just talk all day and introduce people to each other.” That’s when Cutrone decided to go into publicity – another decision that has paid off for her.

Obviously, Kelly has a reputation of being a bitch – but she said that she is very comfortable with how she is depicted on the show – she described it as being “thick skinned” and “powerful”. As far as Roxy, Kelly says she genuinely likes Roxy and says she has a lot of good ideas and is very creative. Perhaps they get along so well because they are both Scorpios?

“Roxy has done some amazing and some confident things. And she’s done some not-so-cool things just like me. You make mistakes.”

Even so, when asked if she thought some of the things Roxy said were disrespectful she simply said that a lot of People’s Revolution employees are disrespectful. I thought Kelly was a little more strict than that – we’ve seen in the past if there is one mistake, you’re gone. But why is she making excuses for Roxy?

As for Whitney, she has a lot of good things to say. She really values Whitney as a co-worker and a friend. Kelly says that they have a very good relationship outside of work. And for Whitney’s fashion line, Kelly said she thought it was good, but needed some work. But overall, Kelly thinks Whitney has great potential.

Kelly also had a lot of great things to say about Lauren:

“I think Lauren is a genius. She got a great opportunity and she did a great job with it.”

Yes, this girl should totally start a clothing line.

Apparently book publishers don’t look for significant, extensive fashion experience when deciding who should write fashion books. Well, at least that’s what it looks like considering Lauren Conrad will write Lauren Conrad Style for Harper Collins, the company announced this week. The blond reality star doesn’t exactly qualify as a fashion expert and her writing abilities are questionable (people wonder if LA Candy was ghostwritten), so how did she do it? Here’s what I’ve learned from Conrad on how to land a fashion book deal (without going through the Newhouse Fashion Communications Milestone):

1.Star in reality T.V. shows. Come on, we all know Conrad wouldn’t be as successful as she is today if she didn’t lust after Kristin’s Stephen on Laguna Beach.

2. Intern for Teen Vogue. Conrad worked in the fashion closet, essentially. Our opinions assistant editor, Greg had the same internship for Lucky this summer. Maybe Harper Collins should ask him to pen a book about Style too.

(Hey Harper Collins: He’s in the Fashion Communications Milestone program aka he knows how to write about fashion, by the way.)

3.Start a fashion line. And then close it because no one purchases it.

4.Write a New York Times bestseller. It’s true that Conrad’s first novel, LA Candy hit #1 on the prestigious list, however, people say that the book (which I haven’t read) is a fictitious rehashing of episodes of The Hills. So if she did actually write the book, it wouldn’t be too hard to recreate the various fights at clubs with Heidi Montag…just make Montag sound like bigger bitch.

This week on The Aftershow, Stacie called in for her first non Hills TV appearance ever. Dan and Jessi were excited to bust her TV cherry.

They talked about Stacie assuming the awful role of third wheel on a trip that was supposed to be a “girls trip”. She ended up out of place in a Vegas hotel between Justin and Kristin. But, if you think about it, it’s really not that weird of a role for her considering the fact that she’s totally random and out of place on theHills in every episode.

Stacie wasn’t mad that Kristin invited Justin because MTV told her to because Stacie thinks “Justin is great”. If we didn’t have a glimmer of hope that Stacie wasn’t as silly as some of her counterparts, we’d say Stacie has a thing for Justin. She said she’d take Justin over Brody, and continuously raved over how “hot” he is.

Stacie also said she tries to bartender at The Dime as often as she can, but now that she’s a big star going to Vegas and filming you know, there’s no time. She seems to have the “work when I want” schedule that all the greats before her like Lauren, Whitney, Audrina and Heidi have had.

Finally, Stacie discussed being 1/2 of the first Hills girl on girl kiss ever. Dan and Jessi asked the big question: is Kristin a good kisser? Tune in for the answer.

Lo began her television career on ‘Laguna Beach’ years ago before theHills became our favorite obsession. But exactly how did she and Lauren become the stars of a reality show?

With a “great group of friends,” Lo was just a normal high school student cutting class with her best friend when an MTV producer spotted them sneaking off campus.

“I remember we were wearing matching denim skirts, Ugg boots, and Juicy zip-up sweatshirts. And we were in the parking lot, trying to ditch class, when my car alarm went off. And he told us he knew he wanted us for the show.”

She filmed ‘Laguna Beach’ for a couple of seasons and moved on to college, rather than moving on to theHills with Lauren. When Lo finally joined the cast of theHills, she wasn’t too happy with the producers portraying her as a troublemaker. While attending UC Santa Barbara, students took the show a little too seriously.

“I’d be walking down the street and people would yell insults at me. At the time, ‘The OC’ with Mischa Barton was popular. So, they reacted to me like I was just another one of those rich, spoiled brats.”

By the fourth season of theHills, Lo had spoken with the producers about her scenes and things ran much smoother.

“I’ve just had this realization that despite the ups and downs of being on the show, I want to continue working in television. But I think I’d like to transition into hosting. I would love to have a style show or maybe a makeover show. That would be my dream job.”

Besides looking absolutely stunning in this photo, we can’t wait to see what else Lo has in store for the future.

We know that Lauren hasn’t been watching theHills, but what about the rest of the current cast? Well, Shrine restaurant and club at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods had a dinner invitation rejected by Jayde herself. Why? Because she wanted to stay in and watch theHills. Not only was she content staying in to watch the show, she had a great time doing it.

“She was laughing hysterically at it and saying that they cut it to make her look like a total bitch,” a source tells OK!.

The source also says that Jayde and Brody weren’t on good terms. Apparently, she had put him on “probation.”

“She said that Brody is on probation,” the source added. “He was texting and calling her the whole night, but she only replied once to say, ‘You’re on probation’.”

But Brody wasn’t the only one in the doghouse. Jayde made some not so nice comments about Paris‘ boy toy:

“Later she said that Doug was a really good guy, but that he’d turned into a horrible human being since he started dating Paris.”

Maybe Jayde is the little witch producers make her out to be, or maybe not, we’re still on the fence. We’d love to know why Brody was on probation; perhaps, he had another faux date with Kristin.

Claws.. OUT! (ouch!)

Det er regelen snarere enn unntaket på MTVs utvalg av realityshow, ikke minst etter at the Hills begynte å rulle på skjermene for tre år siden. Serien handler om unge og vellykkede i Hollywood og er kjent som opphavet til begrepet “scripted reality”. Det går ut på at MTV tukler med virkeligheten de i utgangspunktet bare skal dokumentere og klippe sammen. De skaffer jobber, lukseriøse leiligheter osv til deltakerne i serien. Selv ikke vennekretsen som de omgås med i serien skaffer deltakerne selv og det er her MTV med rette har fått en del kritikk.

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID: Tidenes mest famøse krangel fra realityverdenen? I hovedrollene: Lauren Conrad og Heidi Montag.

Tv-produsentene har lagt opp til en del konflikter som sannsynligvis ikke hadde vært tilfelle om folk hadde fått lov til å henge med sine naturlige venner. Dette blir det selvsagt en del bråk av, og programmets største stjerne, Lauren Conrad, valgte å trekke seg fra showet tidligere i år. Til å overta hennes plass fikk produsentene inn en gammel fiende fra tenårene, Kristin Cavallari. Markedsføringen for høstens episoder sa sitt; “The bitch is back!”

Kristin har absolutt vært en bitch til den store gullmedaljen, men det har passet amerikanske seere dårlig. Serien synker nå som en stein med hensyn til seertall og får mye pryl for de mange unaturlige kranglene, ikke minst fordi Kristin har uttalt at hun bare “spiller” rollen som bitch og at hun kun ser på hennes opptreden som jobb, ikke det virkelige livet sitt. Flere av deltakerne har også varslet at de ikke ønsker å være med i flere nye episoder.

På tirsdag (på onsdag for vår del) er det duket for finale både for the Hills og konkurrenten the City, med den gamle Hillsdeltakeren Whitney Port i hovedrollen. Også i the City følger MTV oppskriften med tilspissede manipulerte konflikter til punkt og prikke. Det som er litt rart med denne serien er at Whitney og hennes tildelte venn og arbeidskollega, Olivia Palermo, aldri har likt hverandre og klarer ikke engang å gi hverandre et smil. Nå jobber de ikke engang lenger sammen og har ingenting med hverandre å gjøre. Likevel er Olivia med i serien, som en parrallell historie til Whitneys. Det synes jeg ingenting om og skjønner heller ikke vitsen med!

Olivia virker som en forferdelig person, en bortskjemt drittunge som bare legger opp til konflikter, selv på arbeidsplassen. Likevel synes jeg hakket mer om denne situasjonen enn skiftet av hovedrolle i the Hills. I sistnevnte er det BARE intriger, mens i the City får vi i alle fall et innsyn i Whitneys jobb og karriere. Hvor ekte dette er, vet jeg jo ikke men det er mye bedre underholdning enn the Hills.

e o melhor é que vale para todos: você acha que porque é branquinha, nunca vai ficar com a cara do verão ? a-mi-ga, bota um vestido vermelho, acessórios dourados e um blush rosa bem queimado. se amou ?? ok, eu também !
as branquinhas ficam muito bem de vermelho. as bronzeadas ficam perfeitas de amarelo e as negras ficam lindas de branco. para as gordinhas, nada de ficar no preto: os shapes da estação são soltinhos, então dá pra aproveitar e investir numa cor bem legal. se você não quer chamar muita atenção ( bobyyynha ! ) o azul-marinho e os verdes são ideais.

Quem não lembra dos cabelos volumosos e cacheados da Vivian, personagem da dear Julia Roberts em Uma Linda Mulher, que levou muitas meninas ao cabeleireiro loucas por um permanente nos anos 90? E os super cachos da nossa eterna musa Carrie Bradshaw que até hoje domina a telinha em Sex and The City? Quase 20 anos depois da febre Vivian’s hair, os cachos continuam reinando nos salões do país, agora muito bem representados por Taís Araújo em Viver a Vida. Antes disso, o desfile da Animale previu a tendência mais rebelde, trazendo o frizz como estrela-quase-principal do seu desfile na SPFW (Raquel Zimmermman que o diga!)…

Lauren’s mother Katherine, has appeared frequently on Laguna Beach and a couple times on theHills. We always thought they looked just alike.

Of course we were able to find more than a few shots to pick from of Heidi and her mom Darlene. Not that we think Heidi’s mom is a camera craver like her daughter, but she’s undoubtedly been dragged into the fray whether willingly or not. It’s also hard to really remember how Darlene birthed Heidi, so here’s a quick refresher:

In all honesty, we think Heidi definitely looked like her mom pre-op, and actually still looks just like her mom.

Here’s Whitney and her mom whom we haven’t seen a whole lot of. She did appear in Whitney’s emotional final episode of theHills.

Although Roxy does resemble her father, Ken Olin, she looks like her mother’s (Patricia Wettig) younger twin, just with a different hair color.

Lauren Conrad recently made an appearance at the University of Rhode Island where she was interviewed as part of the Student Entertainment Committee’s Fall Frenzy. However, according to one angry student, Lauren was anything but interesting or polite.

Apparently she walked on stage without introducing herself and seemed uninterested and detached during her talk.

“As bored as the crowd seemed during this segment of the program, their boredom could not even come close to that obviously felt by Conrad herself. There was no energy, no personality, no life. It was as if, in a moment of existential anguish at the emptiness of her life, she was having second thoughts about pursuing such vapid goals. Hell, as I sat there, trying in vain to feel a bit of interest as she talked about what it’s like to live in Los Angeles (“I love it, it’s a really cool place to be and do the things I do”) or what her favorite things to wear are (“during the day, skinny jeans, and at night, mini cocktail dresses”), I wondered what more productive things I could be doing with my time, such as curing cancer, volunteering my time to help orphans, or clipping my toenails,” said student John Holmes.

There was also a big fuss about no cameras during the interview. I don’t really understand this part because Lauren is used to being filmed 24/7 by millions of cameras, what are a few college kids’ digital cameras to her?  When it was time for her to sign autographs at the end, a few kids whipped out their cameras and started taking pictures. But as soon as the cameras were taken out, security guards ushered Lauren out of the auditorium. What does she have to hide anyway?

Lauren continued to answer questions like “what is your favorite drink?” and “what is your favorite thing to shop for?” Although she did refuse to answer anything having to do with Spencer and Heidi. At the end of the interview, she was asked where she saw herself in 40 years and responded:

“I don’t know, to be remembered you have to do something really great,” Conrad said. “I haven’t really done anything groundbreaking.”

Although one student seemed extremely disappointed for what he got for 12$, I’m sure many students were pleased enough with just seeing Lauren in real life. Click here to read more of the article.
