My first trip to Arizona lasted for nearly two months longer than originally intended. I was given the opportunity to escape the stolid airs of New Jersey when by a happy chance, I found my high-school crush on Facebook. I hadn’t been looking for her -one might call it lucky that during the time period when I decided to rejoin the world and escape my depression, I also ran into Lauren- but I don’t really believe in luck. I see the universe as being pleasantly indifferent to me, since to curry favor with the so-called Fates implies that I could also earn its wrath – for Fortune is a most promiscuous strumpet. The idea of some invisible Descartian Demon having his fun with my destiny is an intolerable notion for anyone that values their free will. No, I see what some call luck simply as preparation met with opportunity.

For some six or seven months prior to my journey to Arizona, I was depressed. My diagnosis is simply a guess at what a person of reasonable authority on mental health would call it. There have been numerous occasions of similar length: depressed during certain high-school years, in Ohio, after Ohio, after Scotland -depression feels more like a season- a perennial frost with the distant hope of spring blossoms -ah but they eventually do wilt, and lo’ and behold a chill is upon me again. Thus I’ve endured these intemperate transitions for most of my memorable life.

Deliverance from depressions is unlike emerging from water, however. Those murky depths of wallowing misery are quite accommodating despite having to hold your breath. To breathe is to live, and depression can hardly be called living. No, those stricken would sooner swallow a mouthful of misery and swim deeper into despair. It is more like a fog, deep and stifling – a maddening mist. For at least in darkness there may be contrast, at least in submergence there is a surface – but in overcast skies, dawn looks as dusk, time casts no shadow upon the sundial, and it is within that ambiguous curse that our cries for deliverance can find no bearing.

Eventually, with the help of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I was able to address the primary cause for my periods of recluse: social phobia. No diagnosis was needed here, since I’ve been well aware of my social handicap as long as I can remember. CBT, however, is the first method that I’ve used to combat it that’s shown some progress. And so I managed to emerge from my hibernation and find I still had some friends who cared enough to continue to invite me out. Though I tend to think of myself as empathetic, I can’t understand their patience with my constant let-downs, but I certainly appreciate it.

And so, it was during this time, when I haphazardly threw myself into the realm of social situations as a “normal” person might without a second thought, -but I, the social-phobic, took great pride in my courage, as tho I were a gladiator and a coffee shop my arena- this time of convenient friendships and hollow courtesies, that I discovered Lauren on Facebook.

I’m not sure who added who, or when, I just noted a particularly interesting status update, as one notes the glean of obsidian amongst charcoals, and learned that the girl who I admired in passing during high-school had a name: Lauren. Though I didn’t know it then, I suppose it was inevitable that I should at least see her, since she knew many of the people I did. But given that my claim in friendship was limited to knowing of people, and nothing much more, I never met her formally. There are few faces I recall during those years in high-school…the memories formed blurred colors of a Monet, but still her face was much like a photograph taped to the canvas. I was instantly reminded of those times I caught myself staring at her as she passed me in the hallway -seeing her intelligent gaze, and exultant laughter- then feeling slightly embarrassed for my ogling. Yet she was radiant and I was fascinated.

These memories flooded through me like a drug – I sighed deep upon putting a name to that impassioned embodiment. So, her name is Lauren. “Lauren” – as if that affirmation somehow made it more real. No sooner had I decided to verify that it was indeed her, than I concluded she was still entirely out of my league. Iconic she would have to remain; that Nirvana upon the summit of our desires that we resolve to put off for our next life, since we seem to admire most what we’re secretly sure to be unattainable. And yet in my case my fascination was too involuntary to be disputed by my timid self-esteem – surely I didn’t know enough about her to claim anything more than superficial admiration. Yet the more I read and juxtaposed her publications to her demeanor, the sooner I realized I had plenty already to gawk at.

One cannot hide the soul, and in her writings as in her gaze, I felt I was given afforded an insightful glance. Thus while I closely scanned her in the VHS hallways, I thought I saw traces of an honest heart; and in those deep eyes, fiery and bold, there seemed to be tokens of a spirit that would dare a thousand devils. And besides all this, there was a certain distinctive bearing about her, which even her beauty could not altogether be culpable.

The story of my love for Lauren, then, could be said to have started the moment I decided to leave my first comment on her page:

“OMGSPOCK”

Enough for now…………………………..B.A.

It was a good show – singers, dancers, a contortionist, and even a 75 year old lady doing dirty stand-up comedy. If I had to pick, my favorite act was the guys from Recycled Percussion. They had tons of energy and really put on their own full little entertaining show-within-a-show… I stuck a Youtube video of them performing on ladders below.

Also, the host of the show just happened to be Jerry Springer, lol! I am by no stretch of the imagination a fan of his TV show (I actually don’t think I’ve ever even watched one full episode all the way through), but when the opportunity presented itself, neither of us could pass up taking a novelty snapshot of ourselves with the guy.

Then we ate some pizza, walked around inside a few hotels, fist-bumped a brass gorilla that was for sale outside one of the shops in Bally’s (I think), wasted 15 minutes searching for our car in the parking garage before finding it, Chris cracked a wh1p on an escalator (which thoroughly freaked out a clump of tourists that were just rounding the corner at the time), and then we all hung out in their hotel room looking at and talking about wh1ps. It was a great night, really… Chris and Laura are such fun people – totally laid back despite being full of energy, and also really down-to-earth about our sport. It’s refreshing.

Still looking for clearance polo shirts? I used to look all over for them, but I used to run into a lot of fake Ralph Lauren polo shirts. I hate to get ripped off and when I part with my money I want to make sure I am paying for a quality product. Your money is probably very dear to you just like mine and I am sure you want to find quality clearance polo shirts.

Fake Ralph Lauren polo shirts have infiltrated not only the Internet but I have seen them even at the outlet malls that are so popular these days. Your probably a fan of all RL shirts not just the famous Polo label. I have been a fan for years and I usually feel my best when donning Ralph Lauren shirts. But, you can find RL shirts online and you do not have to pay the outrageous prices that department stores charge. Have you been in the major department stores lately? Holy cow, they are charging an arm and a leg, so no need to buy there. It’s a slap in our face when they try to swindle a little extra cash from out wallets.

I never imagined a shirt could cause 110 bucks, nor did I think I would have pay that kind of cash for a shirt. I used to buy on impulse when ever I entered the department stores. I needed to have the new stylish look, I wanted to look great and I wanted to people to know I could afford Polo shirts. Course, now that I have my own family, they come first. I am sure your clothing budget is probably the same as mine.

We want to look great but do not want to break the bank either. Well I have found a trusted source where I find clearance polo shirts at discount prices.

I haven’t titled a post with parentheses in a while… felt like it might be time again, for no real reason. We’ve been busy today as usual. We both have so many things and projects in various states of completion that we’re working on – I sometimes miss the feeling of working on one thing from start to finish and feeling that clean timeline of completion at the end.

Our landlord also called today, asking us to renew our lease. I’d prefer having the option of renting month to month since we’ve already been here a year now. What if something happens next spring and we’re able to buy a house while the government is still giving away $8,000 to new homebuyers? I know it’s a stretch, but it’s possible. Wow, I can’t believe how big of a difference in coloring there is between those two photos. Yikes! I’ve gotta get better at adjusting the curves and being more consistent. There’s such a huge difference between our house’s artifical lighting and the camera’s flash (I used a flash on the top pic, but didn’t on the bottom one). I did learn something neat about curves accidentally the other day though while I was trying to figure something else out: making the curves line into a gentle “S” shape on that screen usually makes things look better. And it’s true! It’ll really be a happy day when I learn enough about photography and editing to know why that is though, lol.

It’s inevitable for me to talk about this movie, especially when it turns the world upside down and makes it really, really hard for normal people to go to the movies with peace and calm. New Moon has just proved me that not all the sequels can be good and that when something was bad from the very first beginning, it will only get worse with time. So, when parody things come up to light, I can’t stop laughing at them, not only because they reflect something true, but also because this saga’s plot it’s too predictable, and you can basically fit it in any other kind of context and it is still the same.

ItsJustSomeRandomGuy published in he’s channel another parody video with Marvel and DC toys, and what a better idea than the Twilight saga? Here, we meet Dr. Harleen Quinzel, who falls in love with a strange phsyco and realizes she’s in love with him, although she knows he can kill her. Predictable??? You see it!

Thanks to the creator for this, you are my God! Hahaha.

Cheap Ralph Lauren shirts are not hard too find these days. But why do we covet this brand of clothing and why have we for years filled Ralph’s wallet with our money? Visit any college campus and you will see many people of all races and origins wearing clothes with the familiar Polo insignia. It has become favored by frat boys who wear it like they have been inducted into a secret clothing society. The middle class of America has no problems donning clothes made half a country away.

Ralph Lauren clothing is favored by so many Americans and the image of Ralph’s models present America citizens as a clean cut, great looking society. I have no problems with cheap Ralph Lauren shirt, it does “chap” my lower half when I realize how much cash he rakes in everyday. We spend millions a year on his clothing line, but 99% of his goods are made overseas. Sometimes when I check the tag, I can’t even recognize the name of the country.

Just think if we could have more of this clothing line made in America, the jobs which would be created would help drive our economy. It’s a pipe dream, I mean when you pay someone 5 cents an hour to produce a shirt and at minimum you have to pay 6.75 for an American laborer. You can see why this clothing line will never be made back in the states.

Will I still buy cheap Ralph Lauren shirts? Sure, I enjoy the quality and style. Do I feel remorse as I see the American economy slowly unweave sending us into the biggest credit bubble in history? Yes, I would rather his clothing line be produced in the U.S. instead of countries like Pakistan.

There’s Robin, Wren and Dove. We’ve all heard about a boy called Falcon. Would this borrowing from the world of birds wear well on a daughter?

With a Happy Birthday to my sister, today’s Name of the Day is Lark.

There are dozens of larks – the white-winged, the short-toed, the roufus-rumped and even the spike-heeled. But that’s amongst the avian population. As a given name, Lark has only darted into the US Top 1000 once in the 1880s – for boys. I suspect the nineteenth century Lark sighting was related to Larkin, an old school diminutive and a surname derived from the then-popular Laurence and Lawrence.

Lark comes to us from the Germanic lerche – songbird. The verb lark – as in frolic – probably traces back to the Old Norse leika – to play. There’s more to the verb’s story, and you might argue that the irreverent undertones cancel out her nature name potential.

There’s a literary angle to this choice. In Romeo and Juliet, the ill-fated couple awakens the morning after their wedding night to birdsong. Juliet tries to convince her groom that he can stay a little longer: “It was the nightingale, and not the lark, that pierced the fearful hollow of thine ear.”

You’ll sometimes see lark listed as the opposite of night owl – another term for a morning person.

Parents today might think of actress Lark Voorhies. As Lisa on ear;u 90s teen comedy Saved by the Bell, she was a rich girl and aspiring fashion designer. The actress is still working, but her star has fallen since the original cast graduated.

Lark has been in use in the twentieth century – but mostly as a product name:

Copper brought nineteenth century miners to Utah.  One of the communities they established was called Lark – but in the 1970s, the mines closed and today it is considered a ghost town;

Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Thurman Ruth was a member of The Larks, a vocal group from the early 1950s;

In the 1960s, Lark was a brand of cigarette – and still is in Japan;

Studebaker once built a Lark;

During the 1940s through the 60s, passengers could travel from San Fransisco to Los Angeles on the Southern Pacific Railroad’s Lark.

All of this doesn’t make much of a case for using Lark as a girl’s name. And yet, the US Top 1000 is littered with nature names, including:

Florals like Lily (#24), Daisy (#161) and Violet (#184);

Seasons Autumn (#89) and Summer (#171).

All of this has prompted parents to reconsider less familiar botanicals like Ivy, Iris and Willow. Lark shares the final -k sound with #52 Brooke – again, a relatively recent entry into use as a given name, but a widely accepted one.

If you’re seeking an unexpected nature name and prefer a frills-free choice for your daughter, Lark could fit the bill. Or if you love Lauren but don’t care for the nickname Laurie, Lark might be a nice alternative.

Alex: Well, most people don’t know where it is.
Lauren: I remember you being so surprised when you told me you came from Oslo and I went ‘that’s the capital, right?’ and you just went “Yes, yes, yes! Yes, it is!”

“And then she asked me if I was Jewish and I replied no. And she went: ‘are you sure?’ ‘Oh, now that you ask I’m not sure! I’ll call my parents. Hello, mum? I didn’t know we were we Jewish? Since when?!’ […] And later he came into my living room and for some reason my grandparents Hanukah chandelier stood on the floor, but they’re not Jewish so I don’t know why they had it. And he just said ‘oh, so you are Jewish?’” – Mara

Lauren: What does he do when he’s taking the underground though, being colour blind? […] They’ve not really thought it through; what colour…coloured…col-
Alex: [Laughing] What coloured people do when they’re taking the tube?
Mara: Oh Lauren, you’re such a rascist. I’m offended, as an Asian, Jewish, Nazi, I’m offended.

Mara on Twilight:
“And how long does it take her to realize that he’s a werewolf? The best part is where the wolves are coming and she’s like ‘run for your life!’ He’s even got the same tattoo as them and they’re wearing identical outfits. It’s not like they’re in a boyband!”

Lauren: You are posh aren’t you? You have ensuite bathroom?
Alex: Yes, I do.
Mara: Oh you’re posh? We can’t hang out with you then as we’re strictly working class people. We’re werewolves and you’re a vampire!
Alex: Hurray, I’m sparkly!

Alex: Oh, you’ve also put up the Globe poster. I have mine on the wall facing my bed so I can look at it.
Lauren: I thought about that, but I’m easily scared. I don’t want to wake up, see the poster and be frightened.
Alex: Frightened by that poster? ‘Oh no! It’s a roof! Help!”
Mara: ‘Wait, something is wrong: there’s a roof on my wall!’

Nine hours of shopping:

“Last night I was so tired that I suddenly began speaking Welsh to myself. It was just random words, because I can’t even speak it properly!” – Lauren, who is going insane

Lauren: ‘Women blink twice as often as men.’
Alex: What?
Lauren: It says so on the Snapple cork.
Alex: Oh, I thought it was just a general observation.

“Wait, let me write that down: ‘women blink twice as often as men’. What’s the drink called? Which date is it today? [Writes] I shall write this down for future generations to enjoy. One day I’ll have enough to just talk like that, ‘a ripe cranberry will bounce.’ I’ll never say anything else than what’s written on the Snapple bottle.” – Mara describes her future plans

“Girls, focus! Focus on what we came here for!” – Mara as Lauren headed for the turquoise 1950-dresses and Alex strolled about hunting for Jane Austen inspired clothing.

Mara being satirical, or how some people (not Lauren, though), thinks that there isn’t any vegetables or spoons in Germany:
Lauren: What are you having?
Mara: It’s just tomato, spinach and such.
Lauren: Your first time isn’t it? How do you like it?
Mara: Oh, vegetables! Can I please eat it with a spoon? Back in Germany I used to eat everything with my hands and I got burned when I tried to eat soup. But now I have a spoon!

Mara being satirical II, or how some people believe that there’s polar bears roaming the streets of Oslo:
“I can imagine you on the tube, right next to a polar bear going: ‘oh, hello, erm… Yes, yes I’m also going off at this station.’ Because everybody knows that polar bears on the tube are completely usual in Oslo.”

Mara: [Picking up a stuffed polar bear] Aleksandra, does this remind you of home?

Alex: [Holding her shopping bag with he teeth while putting on her coat]
Mara: Do you want some help with that?
Alex: Thanks, I’ll manage.
Mara: So that’s how you do it in Norway! You have to carry your bags in your mouth to have your hands free to fight off the polar bears!

Mara: […] I have my wooden spoon and Aleksandra has to defend herself against polar bears…
Lauren: While I run around in Wales with flowers in my hair.
Mara: You know the Oktoberfest, right? I have never been to one, no Germans ever go to them, they’re just for American tourists.
Lauren: But the Welsh stereotype is actually true, though.

While strolling around Strand and Trafalgar Square:
Random 40-50ish business man named James: Oh my god! Here I was thinking it was 2009, but when I look at you it’s suddenly 1949! [Kisses Mara’s hand and goes on talking about how men nowadays never looks at a woman’s face and that the man should never ask for the woman’s number, just give her his and hope she’ll call him] It is like a chocolate he is offering and it is up to her when she will open it. So, could I give you my number?
Mara: Erm…
James: Would you call me back?
Mara: They didn’t have cellphones in 1949.

Alex: [Blocks the way of a random man walking down Regent Street]
Mara: [Sarcastic] Aleksandra, what are you doing?
Alex: I’m dancing with strangers!

Lauren: Do you want some food?
Rob: I didn’t bring a fork.
Mara: Why? I told you to bring a fork, didn’t I?
Rob: Yes, but I didn’t understand what for.
Mara: What did you think?! What did you think we wanted a fork for?
Alex: To poke you with it?
Mara: ‘I have a wooden spoon here in my purse, you brink a fork and let’s fight!’

Rob: The actual Timewarp that’s being danced in clubs all over the country is actually easier. The one in the film is more complicated.
Mara: Erm, it’s just a jump to the left and seven steps to the right?
Alex: And then your hands on your hips.
Mara: How is that complicated?
Alex: Well, I suppose it is if you don’t have any legs or arms.
Mara: [Laughing] You can still wriggle your hips, though!

Lauren: I can’t remember if I read that somewhere or Stephen Fry told me.
Alex: I don’t think Stephen Fry told you it personally! It was probably on QI.
Lauren: That would have been something! [Mimes she’s on the phone] ‘Hello, this is Stephen Fry, I was just calling to say that [random fact]. That’s all, bye Lauren!’

Mara, to Rob: “You can’t kill someone. You can’t even run!”

While watching Some Like It Hot:
Mara: Where did she [Marilyn Monroe] get the ice from?!
Alex: It’s winter, so she probably broke it off from the roof of the train or something.
Mara: Well, that’s perhaps how you do it in Norway, but…

Lauren’s birthday:

“I’m tipsy, but not drunk, I think. Or, I couldn’t write an essay, but I can dance!” – Lauren

Alex: Hello.
Keeren: Hello. [Looking at the full glass of Baileys she just poured herself] Oh, I’m not supposed to have this much, am I?!
Alex: Probably not?
Sabrina: [Introducing Alex to Kereen] Well, this is Kereen – the alcoholic!

Overheard in the Shakespeare seminar, or how Lauren and Dan are unable to communicate properly:

Lauren: What are we going to replace “creeping wind” with? Murky?
Dan: Erm…
Lauren: …
Dan: Did you just say “lurking”?
Lauren: No! I said “murky”
Dan: Oh, I thought you said “lurking” and I wondered how it would be. The wind just blowing in from the ocean, standing still, lurking, then grabbing some children and returning to the ocean again…

“Did you just say ‘daffy’? Daffy duck?!” – Lauren

“Why does everything I read turn into a musical in my head?!” – Dan

Lauren: The Picture of Dorian Gray was awful.
Alex: They made him heterosexual…
Dan: How is that even possible?
Alex: I know, I mean; it’s Oscar Wilde!
Dan: He’s probably being all [rolls his eyes] right now. Just like Shakespeare when we translated his speech today.
Lauren: You know, that’s probably what the director and scriptwriter did; use about an hour in a café scribbling down something on the back of a sandwich carton.
Dan: They knew nothing about Oscar Wilde and just watched that Blackadder episode where he’s described as “the terror of the ladies” and then went “oh! That’s true!” It would explain a lot.

“My essays are like, first they are really academic and then the conclusion is just… It’s like an old, bespectacled, sweet man who goes “it’s like this, and this and this” and then he suddenly catches fire! That’s what my essays are like.” – Dan

“Oh, and then we loaded the truck with all our luggage and alcohol and stuff and we didn’t know how low it was until we drove over a speed bump and the whole bottom of the car got smashed! It was hilarious, not to the guy who owned the car, but to us because we were listening to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen and being gleeful in the back seat. It was great.” – Dan

Lauren: And we stayed at this hotel, which is the best gay hotel in the country and they must have believed that Mara and I were lesbians as we slept in the same bed. […] …because she’s from Frankfurt and they don’t have boys. Or, I’m not saying that there are no boys in Frankfurt, but…
Dan: [Interrupting] Frankfurt, the great lesbian city!

Lauren: My former teacher used to model during his spare time.
Dan: Oh, I thought you said “muggle” and I thought “wow, you must have gone to a magical school or something” and that your teacher liked to pretend that he was a muggle.

So Phinn and I got a package today! (if you’ve ever seen leagaly blonde, there’s this pa

So Phinn and I got a package today! (if you’ve ever seen leagaly blonde, there’s this part that I always think of whenever someone says they have a package) It was from our shop; thank you, Bock, for sending it! Phinn picked it up from the mail room and when i went to see him (to ensure that he was still breathing and had left his room at least once during the day) he said it: “I .. have a package.” (I giggled a little at that point) So he let me into his room and sure enough, he was still in sleeping type attire so I was glad that i went to visit him.

He had already opened the box and said that there were little boxes of Hickory Farms (man food fa sho!) and calenders. He showed me his calender. I got a little worried when it was a Hooters calender that had his name on it. My first thought was, “Great. I may have a PlayGirl calender or something in there.” They love to play jokes like that. As we both had the same thought, Phinn assured me that this was not the case because he had already checked. We both got very nice Hooters Girls Calenders. Oi vay. The photography is stunning. Really. Top notch photo compositions throughout.

So then on my way back to my B-Hut, i thought, “Why were our names on them if they’re the same calender?” The question nagged me a bit but I put the thought out of my mind because tonight was my favorite night of the week: Rock Band Night. My band, Chocolate Broccoli, effing rocked as per usual. And as a special treat to all our fans, we did a fantastic cover of Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls”. A song that is one of my all time favorites because of it’s unequivocal awesomeness.

At any rate, when I returned to my humble abode, I unpacked “… the package” and, after drooling a little … over the Hickory Farms, I began to flip through the calender. By flip through, I mean I casually perused each and every square inch of that beautiful piece of glossy goodness. After a few minutes alone (ahem) moments, i reached that month that had been included in this years calender especially for me. March 2010. And the gorgeous Lauren from Grapevine, TX was there to greet me. She was showing how much she cared for the environment by hugging a palm tree. The best part (and the reason for the names) was that somehow, those crazy bastards from my shop had gotten Lauren from Grapevine, TX to sign on that month which was reserved for her honor with a nice message .. just for me!

Now, a gift from my shop would not be complete without the clever message she wrote. “XOXO Lauren. 2: Molly Wish you weren’t gay!!! jk. Come see me sexy!!” Obviously, they showed her my picture. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have requested my presence all the way in Grapevine, TX. And obviously, they told her how amazing I was with the ladies. Or she wouldn’t have said the whole gay thing. Oh, Lauren from Grapevine, TX. One day, I may have to let you down gently. But for now, XOXO right back at ya!

A britânica, de 29 anos, revelou no programa de Tyra Banks o caso inusitado. Lauren declarou que tem duas vaginas, dois úteros e um ciclo menstrual com duração de 21 dias. Mas a vida sexual dela é normalíssima (???).
