of how the end of year was spent and how the new year started, one word: blessed. i feel blessed to have made acquaintances with many wonderful people from the cosplay circle. some become really good buddies too; and the transition from 9 to 10 was spent with them.

13th dec marked a year’s cosplay experience for me. it was a great journey and i will continue walking on with my friends until when the time come for me to stop. scrolling through my cosplay history page is making me feel nostalgic just looking at it~ do hope the list will go on for a long while.

x’mas & eoy ‘09

my last cosplay of 2009 was a character i wanted to do very much when i first started cosplaying. to date, i have done alot of different versions of him; and one more to come in this new year before i call a close to cosplaying 神田 ユウ. i felt i over-cos’ed him; and not to mention due to unexpected events, my cos-plans was altered slightly with some of my actual plans getting pushed back. everyone is probably bored of seeing me in a black ponytail with extended temples (because i am kinda sick of it myself!) nevertheless, all still went well~

eoy ‘09 ‘revived’ and made a re-debut at the national library on the 26th dec. cosplayers gathered for a post-x’mas event~ it was good for a get-together but we definitely had to compromise for rushing costumes on the day before which was x’mas day itself! the unfortunate me is among the many who sacrificed x’mas for this eoy! still, the turn out at the event was overwhelming despite the location and date.

did a collaboration with 2 guests from malaysia, allenisya and lucifre for this end of year event. we were glad to have them for a mini photoshoot and the event. it was great and thanks!

cos’nic (casual cosplay picnic) was the 1st event i ever organised. half successful, half screwed. it was successful because of the awesome people who attended making it a very happy one. screwed because the weather wasnt co-operating with me. it was blazing hot like a desert (although the strong wind sort of took it away); while the weather forecast was supposed to scattered thunderstorm (which did happened to be drizzling near the evening). many suffered sunburnt and i felt really bad about it..

it wasn’t easy to portray clamp characters, and i felt i did not do good justice on lelouch.. i shall try again! soy’b in less than 3 weeks time, i do hope i can pull off a good event debut of him~ and more clamp cosplays to come!

What surprised/scared me the most:

1. The seiyuu for Kao-chan and Hika-chan are two different people…hmm…I wonder how they manage the twin voices and the yaoiness

2. Most of the seiyuu that voiced for Ouran also voiced for Death Note…seriously??? And Kiyomi Takada (Ouran: Haruhi) was Light Yagami’s (Tamaki) girlfriend!!! Seriously? How do people adjust so quickly to their roles like that???

3. Kyouya working under Tamaki is just too funny for me to imagine and Kyouya calling Tamaki ‘god’? Not in a hundred years, no!

4. Hikaru=Lavi (D.Grayman)! WOOT! That sooooo works! I can kinda even hear the similarities in their voices!

5. Honey-senpai=Momiji (Furuba)! HECK YES! double the cuteness!

6. Tamaki=Light (Death Note)  and Zero (Vampire Knight)! WTF! I see no correlation! There is nothing similar between Tamaki and Light or Tamaki and Zero!

7. Hikaru and Tamaki yaoiness in Gakuen Heaven? I can live with that! ^_^

the singapore toys, games & comics convention held last saturday totally drained my energy (explains the late post). i was there cosplaying for 2 days with my bunch of lovely friends. it was tiring making trips to and fro for both days, but it was well worth it simply because i had so much fun. thanks everyone whom i met that day at the convention and to those who did not make it to the event or if we missed each other; let’s meet up at the next one to come~

stgcc, saturday:
met up with the west siders for breakfast at long john silver. it was my first time having breakfast there and it was pretty tasty, except we sort of got cheated of a few cents by the cashier (always happens at ljs and i shall not go into details). we were grabbing lotsa attention from the civilians at jurong point due to our big big props and all haha. as soon as we were done, we promptly made our way to meet the rest of the team at cityhall. we were late, but apparently some were later than us! it was much fun while we were dressing up, lotsa random events; such as the ladies’ automatic toilet door with the hjjs outside; random ‘ohayo’ music from our dearest leader’s mobile phone; me stealing tseng’s pistol and went tagging everyone; our moogle complaining of his smelly costume and more haha! i think we had so much fun that we forgot we had a convention to attend, as we only hit the exhibition hall after 3pm.

sunday! a day i had been waiting for so long! not your usual sunday but a sunday with d.gray-school omake theatre live at toycon! a version which i had been wanting to cosplay since like months and months and months ago? it was supposed to be a solo project with emo kanda striding around the event, but i was really fortunate to have 2 lovely chibi exorcists joining me, ayano and athen. first thing first, let’s greet the sensei~ おはよう！(greeting idea by ayano, and of course kanda doesnt like it at all..)

it was another random day, where we did random but funny things. its omake! we gotta have fun, yes all the fun we can. let’s start with moyashi, i’m proud to announce that the timcampy was fixed onto that じじ髪モヤシ head by me(although i almost sliced that baka-moyashi head off while doing it)! it sways as moyashi shakes his head and it doesnt fall off, さすが神田です. and look at lavi, being so happy as ever and striking everyone he sees… フン i wonder why are you always so happy.. and me, angry kanda.. hates school, stupid school bag thus permanent vein pop on the head D<! チェ..

never had such a meaningful cosplay ever: to cosplay a character on his birthday and receiving birthday wishes and presents on that special day. was mega glomped by my dear friends; glomped them back and striking everyone with hearts and loves~ would like to thanks everyone for the wonderful day from raffles place to fullerton to waraku to old supreme court. i, or rather lavi had a really really fun-filled day, STRIKE!!

bookman’s mini summary:
met up with the awesome exorcists, helpers and photogs at raffles place, where we make preparations and start heading to the epic location at fullerton hotel at about an hour pass noon. i’m so glad i did research on locations with pillars that resembles that particular scene in the manga (ch.170). we were there 2 days before the actual shoot to scout and see whether it is a feasible location since i can only find very few photos of that location online. we were awe by how gorgeous that corridor is, lit by yellow wall lamp and evening setting sun. that’s it! this be our photoshoot location! also thanks to hexlord for assuring me that, that corridor can be used as a photoshoot location as long as we are good boys and good girls, that led me to dragging the team down to check it out~

lunch at waraku was indeed interesting, we went in with a head count of 13 people, and the kind waiter gave us a japanese style room to ourselves. of course we have to take off our shoes before entering, we complained a little, because boots are kinda troublesome to remove haha! but the room was so awesome, we loved it to bits~ this place was where the birthday surprise for lavi happened. bookman alertness sensed something fishy, and indeed out of the sudden everyone started singing ’happy birthday to lavi’. received glomps and hugs and claps and presents and kisses(?) from all who loves lavi(not me haha). what does a lavi have to do in return for this kind surprise? of course, a big big strikkeeee! to all of them <3

proceeded to the old supreme court’s back alley and basement room for a short night shoot. most of the poses we did were relaxing and emo for the part2 of our themed shoot. plus, i think we were too tired by then, and my painfully spiked wig, having blown by wind(the darn toilet fan), destroyed by glomped and glomps, was not obeying me towards the end of the shoot. thus the night shoot was shorten, not really shorten since we ended at around 10pm. the photogs were still high, but the cosplayers were feeling zombified already..

been really tired after the happy event held at downtown east, but i had a good 1 week rest. thus, i’m finally here to share some pics of the awesome 2 days event, cosfest viii – a very happy event.

friday, cosfest day 0:
woke up early to finish up my boots and belt for my tifa, packed my stuffs hurriedly and headed down to downtown east chalet on friday evening with javan. it was such a long journey that i actually fell asleep on the train and woke up to find we have already reached bedok. met up with the rest of the gang at the chalet, (helped lanlan carry his epic buster sword, felt so proud holding it haha) and we burned mid-night oil to finish up the last bits of the two 1st class soldier armour. was happily hand sewing the thick pvc leather, only to realised i was really worn out when i kept pricking myself and bled say about 5 times? finally, we all ko’ed at 4am..

saturday, cosfest day 1:
it took us long to prepare! and we only hit the event ground at about 3pm. we got swarmed by fellow cosplayers and friends when they spotted us. chatted abit and we decided to enter the dome for some aircon, where we got swarmed again. this time by photogs. i got my 2 handsome bodyguards, cloud and zack to thanks for that lol. they were hot! at times i would just stand aside and watch them being swarmed haha!

we had fun running around meeting friends, taking photos, and for once i have lotsa people coming up to me to say ‘hi’. all because i was smiling all day long and not glaring at everyone who comes near me when i was cosplaying as kanda. but i did turn evil for a moment, stole cloud’s buster sword and went hunting down some random sephiroth at the event haha.

we hanged around more taking random pics until the sky turned dark and evil and it started pouring! we ran for shelter and stay hidden until  the sky’s clear. everyone ko’ed when we returned to the chalet. we were supposed to have a bbq party too, but most of us stayed indoor and wait for food to be served while watching harry potter repeat on tv! total worn out, we were. we celebrated khai’s birthday that night too with a super ‘hard’ to cut cake lol.

then came another sleepless night, helping lanlan with his ishida bow and some rolling eraser actions as well as random otl songs playing from lanlan’s weird mobile phone.. it was an epicly tiring day.. zzZZ..

sunday, cosfest day 2:
we woke up later than we were supposed to be.. i was first to wake and i stared at all the dead logs in the room for a few minutes before i went to wash up. haha good thing for being an early bird, for i do not have to queue for the toilet. after which i wake everyone  up >D and made everyone accompany me to breakfast at burger king!

there we met ayano and sd, my day 2 team members. some were dressed up ready, while i was still in my ‘pyjamas’.. so i kidnapped my moyashi and went back to get ready at the chalet. athen joined awhile later. and we were late again! but better this time, compared to the day before, we went out at around 2+pm.

i was a little emo that day, and i hanged a black face on me. suitable for kanda yea, but it seems everyone became afraid of me.. less friendly people, less photos haha! to the person who tried to touch/check out my mugen, whom i glared and said ‘no’. i apologised for being overly into character lol. you know even moyashi dare not try to do so..

we held the shoot at the old supreme court, a location where lots of duck/hippo tour buses will pass by. we kept getting stared by the curious tourists and were even asked to take photos with them.. at certain point of time, we were actually hiding behind pillars when another bus drove by haha..

sd was such an awesome allen walker. she portrayed the uni 1 version of  モヤシ really well. auto-OTL at the sight of kanda, the innocent and naive look when he first joined the black order. was my first time working with her, and it was a great experience, and i also learnt alot from her too~!

we headed off to the ‘mascot parade’ after the shoot and took a few pics with friends. i was feeling lazy to tie my hair back up after doing the alternate version, so i went as the after-battle version kanda XD. we did not take much pics, as my eye was feeling swollen and the weather was too hot to put our coat on for long time. we then hanged out at the mac in takashimaya until the parade was over.

then came ‘the game xpo’ (tgx 09) at suntec the week after. it was an awesome day of exorcism as well. we had a big team of, 1 allen, 1 kanda, 1 lala, 2 petite lenalee and 3 hyper active lavi. i love them so much, they were all so awesome! and the fact that one of our lavi (uni 3 version) won the open category cosplay challenge proved his awesomeness haha. i wont say more but let the images speak for themselves.
