Le sourire timide de la charmante Pauline...

Seconde entorse à mon souhait de ne plus remettre les pieds dans un club vieillot qui se croit plus original et chic qu’il ne l’est (après My Girlfriend Is Better Than Yours), seconde fois que je passe une bonne soirée (ce n’est pour autant que je vais changer d’avis sur le lieu, en témoigne le club de pétasses en fourrures et sacs dorés ayant tourné les talons en voyant une faune inhabituelle devant leur repaire d’escort-girls).

Derrière Mina Tindle se cachent une partie de Toy Fight (Maxime Chamoux) ou des musiciens boulimiques de musique et de travail (Guillaume Villadier), exigeants mais souriants, discrets et humbles mais n’hésitant pas à remuer le public amorphe, bling-bling et dépourvu de capacité d’appréciation musicale. Malgré quelques soucis de sampling de Pauline liés à un jeu de lumière à l’image du club, Mina Tindle livre un petit concert tout en douceur à leur image. On fait vite abstraction des nazes broques avoisinants pour ne plus se concentrer que sur la musique et par-dessus tout, sur la voix au timbre délicieux de Pauline.

Le concert terminé, les fréquentateurs usuels du Baron commencent à envahir l’espace, il est temps de s’en aller rapidement… Il nous tarde de découvrir quel disque Mina Tindle compte sortir, le deux titres est largement assez fantastique pour qu’ils y donnent une suite. L’idée de mini-album à la manière de Marie-Flore pourrait s’avérer une bonne idée ?

Duo parisien / Pop / 12/10/2009

Mondanitude… Minuit, les molosses du Baron, où j’avais pourtant juré de ne pas remettre les pieds deux ans auparavant, me laissent entrer alors que mon nom n’est pas sur la liste (je ne sais pas pourquoi ni comment j’ai eu droit à cette faveur… mais tant mieux) et le personnel se fend d’un bonjour avec sourire (maintenant c’est certain, ils m’ont confondue avec une autre). La faune locale est plus calme et moins exubérante qu’avant, c’est plutôt agréable. Oh, il y a toujours deux ou trois imbéciles pour se croire à un défilé de la fashion week, qui portent des horreurs en fourrure et doudoune avec complet à rayures en dessous, heureusement que le ridicule ne tue pas, il y aurait régulièrement des hécatombes ! Dans le public je retrouve les Chicros, probablement les musiciens pop les plus sympathiques de Paris avec Syd Matters, pas étonnant qu’ils soient amis. Cela dit, je trouve toujours qu’ils ne collent pas avec le lieu.

Olivier Marguerit et Laurie Lassalle prennent place devant leurs deux synthés Casio. Leur musique est simple et n’a rien de foncièrement original ou nouveau, comme attendu à l’écoute de l’EP. Mais il y a ce petit quelque chose de captivant, un sourire, un regard, deux accords, trois rythmiques qui font que l’ensemble tient vraiment la route. Les mélodies sont douces, les textes piquants, on passe un agréable moment, le public a d’ailleurs fini par être attentif. Par-dessus tout c’est une grande complicité qui ressort de ce vrai duo-couple, très à l’écoute l’un de l’autre (et vice et versa). Ils jouent quelques titres de leur Foreplay EP dont les délicieux My Girlfriend Is Better Than Yours et Before my Memory, mais aussi plusieurs nouveaux titres, la conception d’un album n’est donc pas à perdre de vue… tant mieux !

Je repars le concert terminé, sous les yeux un peu interloqués des videurs : Déjà ? Bah oui… Après deux heures, pas de mondanités merci, c’est mauvais pour la digestion :)

L’Avenue – my cantine with or without friends; they serve good simple food and the people-watching is great; Alex, one of the owners, is a doll (whenever he sees me, he sends over champagne) and I think he looks like Tom Ford

Derrière - very cool bar and restaurant tucked behind 404 and Andy Wahloo Bar; it’s decorated to feel just like someone’s apartment — you can eat in the kitchen downstairs or in the bedroom upstairs and smoke in the attic; my friend Susann Maier took me here

West Country Girl - a new crepe place in the 11th; I went late at night with a friend and since we only drank white wine, I can’t speak for the crepes, but it was one of those cool, off-beat places you can only find in Paris

Azzedine Alaïa – one of my long-time favorite designers (I must own at least 15 of his dresses); he is a creative genius and a very nice guy

This post is making me miss the City of Light already!  But I’ll be back at the end of September for prêt-à-porter, and I’m enjoying my time back in New York until then.

After hunting around the coolest store ever, TOKYU HANDS, and finding every little DIY, exciting treasure you could imagine we headed over to Restir and pawed the Balenciaga and then hopped over to the PUMA Black Label Store and got some amazing PUMA Sergio Rossi sneaker heels to take out dancing at the Phoenix party we were DJing… I love how my black ones look with SPATS! The Phoenix party was jammed with so many people! Beyonce even showed up during our set but I think we both cared more that all the members of Phoenix were there… Got to hang out with my dearest most talented vagabond friend, writer, Takeaki Yamazaki, who is in town visiting his mom and grandmother and just being ever brilliant and inspiring… Take introduced us to photographer Yone and got picture taken… Hung out with the crew and then as we were about to leave…ended up meeting one of my best friend’s brothers who lives in AUS who I had only ever emailed with! It is a small world after all. Then we met up with Take’s friend, Jun Hagan at a relaxing late night restaurant, learned that the heart is partly made up of the same neuron tissue as the brain and rode the waves of the second major earthquake of our trip…

Al hablar de Le Barón, no me refiero al Chrysler Le Baron

Hablo de este Barón, Barón Ashura de la serie Mazinger Zeta.

Y es que de este personaje es de donde proviene “Le Barón”, nombre de una de las bandas que prometen un buen futuro en la escena del rock mexicano.

Esta banda originaria del D.F.  conformada por:

Lalo – Voz

Mauricio – Guitarra

Mariana – Teclados

Daniel – Bajo

Olmo – Batería

Anteriormente Mariana (de Argentina) tocaba el bajo, ahora toca los teclados.

Hace ya un buen rato que tenía escuchando esta banda defeña que les abrieran a los Kaiser Chiefs en el 97,  el sonido particular de la voz hace una buena propuesta, algunos de sus integrantes pertenecerieron al FERMATTA,  alguna vez escuché al wey de www.gritaradio.com.mx decir que la voz de Le Barón le sonaba a Saúl Hernández(Caifanes/Jaguares)  ¬__¬’ Yo no le encontré similitud pero hay cada wey…

En su EP de Debut, logran un sondio fresco que incluye:

Pour ceux qui auraient passé leur hiver à hiberner, séance de rattrapage obligatoire. T’as déjà couché avec Lionel ? Ca dépend, pas l’hiver.  Les conneries les plus entendues la nuit à Paris, portées par la voix d’une fille à gifler. Vas y appelle Marco j’arrive pas à rentrer. Dommage. Que la fête continue les enfants. T’es intermittente ? Pas moi connasse. C’est trop bon.

If you didn’t have the chance to attend the awesome Malak El Ezzawy Summer Collection Fashion show at Le Baron Palace, now you can.  Below are some highlights of the collection which is named “Cocktails & Crayons”.  The collection utilizes the whole color spectrum with a focus on fuchsia and shades of blue.  Each dress is unique in its own way with no similar design, from the floor sweeping to the cocktail dresses, one-shoulder to strapless, and chain-linked to sequins.

After years of talking about Japan, pining over the thought of going to Japan, talking to people that have been to Japan, and fantasizing about actually being there… all of a sudden… WE WERE THERE! And it was better than we could have ever dreamt up!

DAY 1:

Still quite lagged… after a day of catching up on some biz, we ventured out with our most wonderful hosts and friends Yuuki and Rina for a Mexican feast accompanied by director Eric Lerner (signed to Michel Gondry’s production company), played with some Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, and Haider Ackermann treasures at Rina’s showroom, PREDPR, and then went out to Le Baron to hangout with the most genuine of posh locals (including the likes of DJ Shinichi Osawa and Masatoshi Uemura owner of Bonjour Records)  and other musical transients in town for the festival…
