<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Belgia on olutmaa. Kun Belgiaa esitellään eri julkaisuissa, niin aina yksi tärkeimmistä asioista, mikä mainitaan, on maan yli 300 olutpanimoa. Kuitenkin, kun menee maan asioimaan maan eri kauppoihin tai ravintoloihin, niin sieltä löytyy vain muutama merkki. No, sanotaan nyt 10 &#8211; 15 eri merkkiä. Suurin osa pienistä panimoista on paikallisia. Moni myös haluaa pysyä paikallisena.</p>
<p>Isot ja koko maan kattavat panimot kuuluvat joko Heinekenin omistamaan tai SABaBv (Belgialais-amerikkalainen) liittoon. Pienet panimot ovat pieniä. Isojen panimoiden tuotteet ovat hyvin näkyvissä kauppojen ja baarien hyllyillä. Pienet panimot taistelevat hyllytilasta. Se, mikä tekee hyllytilasta taistelun mielenkiintoisen, on jokaisen panimon omat ja muodoltaan erillaiset lasit. Taistelu näkyy vähittäiskaupassa, mutta myös baareissa. Kun asiakas on opetettu ostamaan omaa suosikkiolutta siihen kuuluvasta oikeasta lasista, niin ei kukaan hyvään juomaan tottunut kuluttaja suostu juomaan suosikkioluttaan kilpailevasta lasista. Varsinkin, kun muoto poikkeaa hiukan omasta totutusta.</p>
<p>Tämän takia  kilpailussa omasta paikasta ravintoloissa jokainen panimo pyrkii blokkaamaan omalla lasillaan toisen panimon myyntitilan tarjoamalla oman panimon erikoislaseja. Kun ravintola ostaa olutta itselleen, niin heillä on rajallinen määrä tilaa laseille. Jos tarjolla on vaikka 10 eri merkkiä, niin kaikille pitää olla oma lasitila. Jos kuitenkin lasitilaa on vain kuudelle merkille, joutuu neljä merkkiä nuolemaan näppejä.</p>
<p>Samaa mallia voi soveltaa myös muuhun toimintaan. Tekemällä muodoltaan selkeästi tavoiteltuja tuotteita saa asiakkaat tappelemaan sellaisista tuotteista, jotka eivät ole teknisesti insinööriä tyydyttäviä, mutta kuluttajille pakollisia. Samoin hyvä muotoilu takaa sen, että kilpailijan on pakko tarjota selkeästi halvemmalla kuin kilpailija, jotta voi saada asiakkaita puolelleen. Kun kerran tiputtaa hintaa, niin sitä on vaikea nostaa. Nosto onnistuu usein vain monopoliasemassa.</p>

<p>Vi har tidligere rost <a href="../../../../../2009/01/15/tryk-bar-4-gardiner/" target="_blank">TrykBar i Indre By,</a> og vor forventning ble stor når vi gik aftentur og så de havde også åbnet en på Frederiksberg.  Tidligere lå Diplomaten her, og det var ikke et sted man ville frekventere.  Forventningen blev indfriet når vi gik ind. De har gjort en lille brushup af stedet, og det er til det bedre.</p>
<p>Det første del af lokalet med den flotte mørke bar, og bordene rundt er der fortsat, men inderst inde har det sket meget. Nye billeder af gamle filmhelter, nye bord og bænke.  Du har den gode værtshusstemning, men er ikke for udslidt!  De har også flotte blyglas vinduer.</p>
<p>De har ikke så mange øl. For det meste monopoløl, men har et par internationale som Spaten, Franziskaner og Leffe. Prisene er hyggelige frem til tidlig aften, og de har også bonuskort, som gør at du får hver 10 øl gratis.  Men vær på vagt, det er lidt tilfældig hvem som får det.  Men er du heldig og får et, så gælder dette også på Tryk Bar i Indre By. Betjeningen er ung og hyggelig. Gæsterne er meget forskellige, nogle på min alder og op, som er igen fra Diplomaten, og flere unge som kan lide Tryk Bar konceptet og øludvalget.</p>
<p>De har også et meget godt udvalg af aviser, både de tabloide og til de mere seriøse.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Tucked away in north campus is a same, family owned convenience store/gas station called <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/place?oe=utf-8&#38;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&#38;client=firefox-a&#38;um=1&#38;ie=UTF-8&#38;q=Hyde+Park+Market+Austin&#38;fb=1&#38;gl=us&#38;hq=Hyde+Park+Market&#38;hnear=Austin&#38;cid=17632170987266075198" target="_blank">Hyde Park Market</a>. The variety of beers offered at this store would make even the great Chuck Norris shed a tear. However, unlike most stores that sell alcohol, Hyde Park allows patrons to select any six beers to build your own &#8220;mix &#8216;n match&#8221; six-pack (as long as each beer comes from a different brewery. With this superpower, I decided to purchase one six-pack of European beers and one six-pack of beers from across our great nation. I will feature my reviews of these beers in two, two-part series. Today, I welcome you to the world of beers from Germany eastward.</p>
<p>The first beer I tried was Aris Greek Lager. This beer, brewed in the land of the original Olympians, is made by <a href="http://www.mythosbrewery.gr/index.asp?c=4" target="_blank">Mythos Brewery</a>. Although <a href="http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1084/6074" target="_blank">beer advocate</a> was unkind to this beer, I contend that it is a worthwhile try. Aris is a very smooth , drinkable beer although it carries with it a very skunky smell. Once poured, it has a very small head and is a very deep yellow, almost amber. I admit that the smell made me second guess my spirit of exploration but I went ahead and took a swing. The beer didn&#8217;t burst with flavor but held its own very well. The best part of the beer was the subtle aftertaste that was very sweet, almost like honey. Although beer advocate gives this beer a C, it deserves a little more credit then that.</p>
<p>My grade: C+</p>
<p>Next on the menu was a very classy looking beer called Leffe Blonde. This beer, brewed in Belgium by <a href="http://www.leffe.com/en-us/home.html" target="_blank">Leffe</a>, has a very healthy head and is amber in color. The beer&#8217;s <a href="http://www.leffe.com/en-us/de_bierproeverij.html#video1" target="_blank">webpage</a> even offers beer drinkers with a &#8220;how to&#8221; video for pouring purposes. The page suggests that the beer has banana in it, a claim I confirmed with my first sip. The beer tasted very much like the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_beer" target="_blank">hefeweizens</a> I have come to know and love. The flavor was not to light but not to strong. I consider this a perfect beer to have with dinner.</p>
<p>My grade: A</p>
<p>The final beer I tried was Kostriker Schwarzbier, a product of Germany and brewed according to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot" target="_blank">Germany Purity law</a> says the bottle. This black beer had a light brown head and was one of the lighter dark beers I have tried to date. The flavor was pretty good, and the cocoa and coffee flavorings were noticeable enough to enjoy. Although not quite a Xingu or 1554 New Belgium, I would order this with a good steak or pot roast.</p>
<p>My grade: B</p>

In portofoliul noii companii sunt aproximativ 300 de branduri, printre care Stella Artois, Beck’s, Leffe sau Löwenbräu.</p>
<p>Totusi, numarul acestora incepe sa scada, pentru ca vor sa vanda active de 7 miliarde $. Mai intai, in septembrie AB InBev a vandut brandul Tennent&#8217;s (din Scotia), pentru ca zilele trecute sa isi vanda operatiunile din Europa Centrala si de Est catre un fond de investitii (CVC Capital Partners). Tarile din care iese AB InBev prin aceasta tranzactie evaluata la peste 1,5 miliarde euro sunt Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cehia, Ungaria, Muntenegru, Romania, Serbia si Slovacia. <strong>Primul brand al lor din aceasta zona este Jelen Pivo (Slovenia), urmat de Bergenbier din Romania.</strong></p>
<p>Pentru consumatorul roman nu se schimba multe. Noul proprietar are licenta sa produca in continuare brandurile internationale (Stella Artois, Beck&#8217;s, Lowenbrau, Leffe), pe langa cele romanesti (Bergenbier si Noroc). Sa speram ca noul proprietar este dispus sa faca investitii, mai ales ca in Romania firma a pierdut in ultimul an in jur de 5% din cota de piata, ajungand la mai putin de 20%.</p>

<p>Andrew Hickey, a.k.a The Brooklyn Nomad, is into <a href="http://matadortravel.com/travel-blog/united-states/the-brooklyn-nomad/movies-that-make-you-want-to-travel" target="_blank">&#8220;Movies That Make You Want To Travel,&#8221;</a> and he finds that <em>In Bruges</em> is one such movie. Along with the Matador site, where we found this, Hickey&#8217;s travel writing has been published by <em>USA Today</em> and <em>The New York Times</em>, among many others. Here, he unleashes his inner Siskel&#38;Ebert, with an appreciation of a number of movies, based on their alluring backdrops. He names the feature films that made him want to visit Barcelona, Las Vegas, Tuscany, Provence, London, Dublin, Tokyo, and more. So anyway, back to Bruges. Hickey says:</p>
<blockquote><p>If you can not have a good time in Belgium then something is seriously wrong with you. A place that is known for some of the best chocolate and beer on the planet? Perfect!</p></blockquote>
<p>Ah yes, the chocolate. It&#8217;s said that one of the best places to find it is in the city&#8217;s famous Christmas Markets. The staff of Travelbite gives us the locations of Belgium&#8217;s <a href="http://www.travelbite.co.uk/feature/caribbean/st-lucia/it%E2%80%99s-all-about-chocolate-$1326118$1326118.htm" target="_blank">four chocolate museums</a> &#8212; one in Bruges, of course &#8212; along with some fascinating history. Examiner Susan Fogwell delineates the attractions of Belgian confections in what amounts to a <a href="http://www.examiner.com/x-2163-Hotels-Examiner~y2009m9d3-Sinfully-decadent-chocolate-in-Bruges" target="_blank">lyrical piece of choco-porn</a>. (You must be over 18 to view the page.) The author is a flight attendant and, naturally, a farflung traveler.</p>
<p>In <em>The Third Tower Up From the Road</em>, Kevin Dolgin calls this <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Third-Tower-Road-Compilation-McSweeneys/dp/1595800433/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&#38;s=books&#38;qid=1235773435&#38;sr=8-1" target="_blank">one of the most beautiful</a> little cities in northern Europe, and recommends taking a carriage ride. We hear that the canal boat rides aren&#8217;t bad, either. Legend says a German general who was ordered to destroy Bruges in WWII refused to. Now there&#8217;s a war hero. Anyway, it&#8217;s one of UNESCO&#8217;s World Heritage Sites and, some say, a little too well supplied with tourists. Well, how would they know, unless they were tourists, too? Hmmmm?</p>
<p>Kevin&#8217;s memoir of Bruges is titled &#8220;Les frites de la liberté,&#8221; which means Freedom Fries, and that&#8217;s what it&#8217;s mainly about. In this neck of the woods, the claim to fame made by <em>frites </em>is that they are served with more condiments than you&#8217;ve ever heard of.</p>
<p>But wait, there&#8217;s more, and no, we&#8217;re not talking about beer, although the brews of Belgium are well worth talking about. A traveler <a href="http://veloswiss.blogspot.com/2009/09/busy-in-bruges.html" target="_blank">known as Velo Swiss says</a>, &#8220;Bruges is also known for a soothing tonic called Leffe, which did take the edge off a long day.&#8221;</p>
<p>Bonus question: On your desert island, if you could have only one Belgian treat, would it be chocolate, beer, or fried potatoes?</p>

<p>Nog een kleine 2 weekjes, en het is zo ver! Hopelijk zien we dan opnieuw een mooi resultaat van de vele weken voorbereiding aan onze Leffe fuif. Voorbije zaterdag zijn Joris Nollet; Céline Beheydt; Benne; Lore en ikzelf affiches gaan hangen op de fuiven. Nu zaterdag (12 september) krijgen alle andere KLJ&#8217;ers alvast een laatste kans om zich te bewijzen, want zowel ’s middags (12u45) als ’s avonds zullen we vollenbak reclame moeten maken! We kunnen jullie hulp dus opnieuw goed gebruiken. We trekken naar de volgende fuiven:</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Bem, como nós almoçamos e jantamos quase todos os dias em restaurantes nas últimas duas semanas, eu acabei experimentando várias cervejas neste período. Como está muito devagar colocar uma a uma (e minhas aulas estão para começar&#8230;), resolvi fazer um “<em>mega post</em>” falando de 9 cervejas&#8230; (faltaram 3 para uma caixa <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  ) Lá vai:</p>
<p><strong>Orval</strong></p>
<p>Esta fica numa categoria parecida à da Westmalle; lembra bastante a Chimay, mas é menos encorpada. Como gosto de cervejas fortes e encorpadas, continuo preferindo a Chimay. Faz alguns dias que a bebi, então terei de experimentá-la novamente para colocar mais detalhes.</p>
<p><strong>Estaminet</strong></p>
<p>Finalmente vou falar de uma cerveja <em>pilsen</em>, categoria “premium”. Eu gosto de cervejas <em>pilsen</em>, mas acho chato elas dominarem o mercado brasileiro da forma como dominam; acho que por isto demorei um pouco mais para experimentar uma cerveja deste tipo. Voltando à Estaminet, ela tem cor clara e brilhante, muito límpida. No primeiro gole ela dá a sensação de ser super amarga, mas logo depois esta sensação desaparece e fica apenas um sabor muito agradável, de uma cerveja saborosa, macia e muito, muito boa.</p>
<p><strong>Hoegaarden</strong></p>
<p>Lembram da <em>Brugs Witbier</em>? Pois é, esta também é uma <em>witbier</em>, mas eu não sabia disto, esta informação fundamental não estava no cardápio e, como ela parece ser bem conhecida, nunca ia imaginar isto. O maior mérito dela é não ter o mesmo sabor pronunciado da Brugs, ser um pouco mais “aguada”. É mais ou menos como dizer que seu maior mérito é não ser tudo que deveria ser&#8230; Talvez o único motivo para experimentá-la de novo seja curiosidade, pois li que as <em>witbier </em>ficam praticamente brancas quando estão bem geladas (por isso também são chamadas de <em>white beer</em>). Talvez bem gelada ela seja um pouco mais palatável.</p>
<p><strong>De Koninck (Bolleke)</strong></p>
<p>O legal desta cerveja é que ela tem um “apelido”: Bolleke, que na verdade é o nome do copo em forma de <em>bowl </em>da De Koninck, a cervejaria que a produz. Agora falando da cerveja em si, eu não lembro muito bem dela <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Só lembro que gostei, era uma boa cerveja, mas também nada de espetacularmente especial.</p>
<p><strong>Westmalle Tripple e Leffe Tripple</strong></p>
<p>Estas duas são muito boas mesmo. São cervejas claras, mas muito fortes (9% de álcool e acima). Elas são claras e apresentam-se um pouco turvas, mas nada tão exagerado quanto uma <em>witbier</em>. Apesar de serem assim tão fortes, tem um sabor muito suave, nenhum amargor exagerado nem presença marcante do álcool. A Westmalle é um pouquinho mais encorpada; eu gostei mais dela e a Fernanda, da Leffe. Mas qualquer uma delas me deixaria muito contente.</p>
<p><strong>Kriek</strong></p>
<p>Desta eu escapei <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Um colega do curso a pediu para experimentar e seu comentário foi: “Hum, parece cereja. Hum, cheira como cereja. Hum, tem gosto de cereja! É, não dá para acertar todas&#8230;”. Acho que não preciso falar mais nada.</p>
<p><strong>Brugge Tripel</strong></p>
<p>Mesma categoria das Westmalle e Leffe Tripple descritas acima. Mas esta é um pouco mais sem-graça. Experimentei quando visitamos Brugge, já que era uma cerveja local.</p>

<p>Outra cerveja que experimentei em Brugge. Como ela estava em destaque no cardápio imagino que não seja uma cerveja muito comum de se encontrar (também não lembro de tê-la visto em nenhum dos restaurantes/bares de Leuven). Ela é uma cerveja <em>blond</em>, mas tem uma coloração um pouco mais intensa, não é dourada. É muito saborosa e também não dá nem sinal de seus 7% de álcool.</p>
<p>Ufa, depois desta maratona acho que não tenho mais nenhuma na lista para escrever&#8230; A não ser a <strong>Stella Artois</strong>, que não é mais novidade aí no Brasil. Mas admito que é ótimo ter a opção de pedir uma <em>Stella </em>quando você não está a fim de pensar muito no que vai beber&#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">- &#8220;<em>Non cette bière n&#8217;est pas bonne, il y a juste le nom qui donne envie !&#8221;</em><br />
Ou encore<br />
- &#8220;<em>Encore une bière à touristes</em> !&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Et pourtant, la Ch&#8217;ti est en train de fêter ses 30 ans d&#8217;existence (<a href="http://bieresetchicons.wordpress.com/2009/07/06/the-seven-chti-show/">cf. mon post </a>à ce sujet d&#8217;ailleurs), cette courte longévité lui donne toutes les caractéristiques d&#8217;une bière qui ne devrait pas être si mauvaise que ça.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">J&#8217;ai donc goûté dans un premier temps la Ch&#8217;ti blonde en pression. Je n&#8217;avais jamais trempé mes lèvres sur sa mousse. Le résultat était bon, mais sans plus. Une bonne blonde, meilleure certes que les inbuvables Stella Artois ou Heineken, mais moins bonne qu&#8217;une excellente Leffe ou Grimbergen.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">J&#8217;ai donc voulu en savoir plus, et est donc goûté la Ch&#8217;ti Triple. Quand je pense Triple, je ne peux m&#8217;empêcher d&#8217;évoquer une sacré soirée dans un café qui se prénommait &#8220;la Grange&#8221; et qui était situé à Mouscron. En dehors de son côté atypique, ce café avait la particularité de servir des morceaux de fromage promotionnels (ah ces belges !) avec certaines bières. Si le fromage n&#8217;avait rien de fameux, d&#8217;ailleurs l&#8217;un de nos deux bouts était tout bleu, la Grim Triple nous en avait mis plein les yeux, et Sainte Rita reine des pisseurs s&#8217;en souvient encore !</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Alors que la Triple pour moi évoque une très bonne bière, très onctueuse, je n&#8217;attendais pas grand chose de cette Ch&#8217;ti Triple à l&#8217;étiquette verte. Mais cette bière a été très surprenante dès les premières gorgées. La qualité était au rendez-vous, une bière de caractère mais dont le goût n&#8217;est pas trop amer contrairement à certaines au degré trop élevé. Elle ressemble à la Grim Triple, un peu moins savoureuse mais très légère et goûteuse en bouche. A découvrir de toute urgence !</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Finally back from vacation, and, true to style, headed out to the <a href="http://www.tapandpeel.com/">Pizza Peel</a> here in Charlotte for Thursday night&#8217;s traveling &#8220;<a href="http://www.samueladams.com/Promotions/Beerloverschoice2009/home.html">Samuel Adams Beer Lover&#8217;s Choice</a>&#8221; event.</p>
<p>Basically, Samuel Adams (The Boston Beer Company) is looking to see which beer will be added to the &#8220;Brewmaster&#8217;s Collection&#8221; you probably have seen at your local grocery store. Last year, it was the Blackberry Witbier (which, had I voted in that, I probably would have considered whatever option B was). This year the choice is between a Pilsner and an IPA style beer.</p>
<p>We received a taste of each, and first tried the Pilsner &#8211; according to our representative, it was first brewer by brewmaster Jim Koch himself for his daughter&#8217;s wedding. Very smooth to drink, a little sweetness to it, but not overwhelming, and a very clean finish that definitely led me to want another sip.</p>
<p>Next up came the Samuel Adams Ale, which although an IPA, was an amber color, with a much more aggressive IPA style bite to it. Like most IPAs, it left that lingering hops taste after the finish (am I the only one that sometimes feels like that aftertaste is almost a &#8220;spicy&#8221; one?). A very good beer to be sure, however we could only vote for one&#8230;</p>
<p>And out table of 8 went, unanimiously I believe, for the Pilsner. From the sound of our representative, I think the Pilsner has been laying waste to the Ale competition since they started this event.</p>
<p>Overall, the evening went very well, my sister won a Samuel Adams T-Shirt in a raffle (the XL size of the shirt means pajamas, I suppose) and I had a few other brews on draft, including a Leffe Blonde Belgium style Pale Ale (Thumbs up) and Founder&#8217;s Red&#8217;s Rye Ale (Thumbs down).</p>
<p>But, on my vacation, I did manage to sample a couple beers and I&#8217;ll be posting very frequent updates here over the next few days, so more to come!</p>

<p>The second to last beer I had in Aruba was a surprise. In the states, I had only seen Leffe Blond, a budget Belgian summertime ale that doesn&#8217;t try to do too much (but accomplishes what it attempts to do very well). Here was a triple, the biggest Belgian style there is, and it was brewed by Leffe. I had to try it.</p>
<p>There were some very interesting notes up front. The color was a cloudy yellow and there were lots of cloves on the nose. To taste, it was very spicy, sweet and sour, and had cloves hitting hard from the beginning. This gave way to a sloppy, alcohol finish that I did not like, but I would not say that it destroyed the beer either. Overall, this was too sweet for me upfront. Luckily, I had another surprise waiting for me&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Leffe Brune Dubbel<br />
</strong>ABV: 6.8%<br />
IBU: Unknown; Relatively High</p>
<p>That&#8217;s right! My last beer in Aruba was a Leffe Dubbel, which thankfully was worlds apart from the Triple. The nose was full of yeast and spice. It also smelled a little sour, but this did not carry over to the actual taste. Softness dominated this beer, which was low-key in the creative flavor department, letting the malts speak for themselves. There were a lot of rich, earthy undertones that led the charge to a finish of cardamine and (a few) cloves. I was very happy with this performance. I later found out that this is available in the United States while the Triple is not&#8230; works for me!</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Le samedi après-midi est l&#8217;occasion pour certains nordistes de se rendre en Belgique afin de s&#8217;approvisionner en cigarettes, alcools et bières ! En dehors de l&#8217;aspect prix, le choix proposé par les marchands belges est tout simplement énorme.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">- &#8220;<em>Normal </em>!&#8221; me diriez-vous &#8230; &#8220;<em>L&#8217;une des plus grandes spécialités de ce pays est la Bière.</em>&#8220;<br />
- &#8220;<em>Oui, mais les meilleurs vins nationaux ne sont pas forcément proposés dans les supermarchés Français ou dans les chaînes telles que Nicolas</em> !&#8221; Et toc ! <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Si je ne suis pas un adepte des endroits belges purement touristiques qui ont pour seuls vocations d&#8217;accroître un peu plus votre cancer du poumon ou la cyrhose qui ronge votre foie à petite goutte, je dois quand même avouer que j&#8217;aime me rendre dans certains magasins spécialisés, et notamment le fameux Roby situé près du Centre de Menen (Menin en Français). Là-bas, on y trouve des magnums de Leffe, des paniers cadeaux, des verres pour accompagner comme il se doit ces beuvrages houblonnés, mais aussi une gamme de bières artisanales les plus méconnues les unes des autres.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ce samedi après-midi, j&#8217;ai rencontré le gérant de la boutique &#8221;Pommier Dan&#8221;, Daniel Pommier, et j&#8217;ai retrouvé ce léger frétillement qui s&#8217;éveille en moi face à ces rangées de futurs cadavres ! Dans son entrepôt situé Quai de Bercy, au fin fond d&#8217;un tunnel à la pénombre particulière telle une zone de non droit, il y avait tout ce dont un nordiste ou un belge rêverait de trouver en dehors de chez lui : fûts, rangées de bouteilles, verres et chopes, une grande enseigne Ch&#8217;ti qui devait être destinée à une brasserie de la ville traînait là également, une enseigne clignotante &#8220;Kriek&#8221; et bien d&#8217;autres choses encore si chères au gars d&#8217;min coin.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Daniel, véritable passionné de la distribution de boissons m&#8217;a expliqué la différence entre la culture commerciale belge et française, la façon dont on considère le volume et la valeur marchande, la règle de distribution en France face au quasi-monopole des grandes brasseries devenues des multi-nationales. J&#8217;ai enfin compris pourquoi à Paris une Kriek se vendait 12 euros quand on en trouve à moins de 5 euros sur Lille. J&#8217;ai aussi appris le secret de fabrication d&#8217;une bière aromatisée et ses particularités de brassage.</p>

Een Leffe of twee aan het begin van de avond, gevolgd door enkele pintjes voor de gezelligheid en daarna genoeg cola om een flinke kruiwagen in op te lossen. Ik voelde me dan ook behoorlijk alert toen ik mezelf eindelijk had overtuigd om te vertrekken. De nieuwe dag was intussen al enkele uren oud, maar het feest was nog lang niet stervende.</p>
<p>Het was een leuke avond geweest. De hitte die al een hele week als een klamme handdoek op het land lag werd in de vooravond langzaamaan verdreven door een wollig windje, zodat het aangenaam toeven was in de grote tuin. Als een kleine jongen had ik  mijn schoenen en sokken uitgedaan zodra ik het grasveld betrad, om vervolgens minutenlang met de ogen dicht te genieten van de strelende sprieten op mijn blote vel, terwijl het aroma van barbecuekruiden zich in mijn neus vermengde met de geur van pas gemaaid gras.</p>
<p>Oude vrienden en nieuwe vrienden hadden mijn voorbeeld gevolgd en een paar uur lang leek het alsof alles goed ging in de wereld. De radio speelde ongemerkt liedjes van Michael Jackson en de avond ging naadloos over in de nacht.</p>
<p>&#8220;Je lispelt&#8221;, zei ze toen ik afscheid kwam nemen. Ik antwoordde dat het de vermoeidheid was en negeerde haar bezorgde blik toen ik in mijn wagen kroop. De ramen hadden de hele avond opengestaan, maar veel koelte had dat niet gebracht. Ik wuifde nog eens naar haar silhouet in de voordeur terwijl ik mijn gordel aandeed, joeg een paar muggen van het dashboard en vertrok.</p>
<p>Mijn route leidde me over onverlichte plattelandswegjes, waar ik me gewillig liet omhelzen door het donkere deken van de nacht. De radio speelde iets van <a title="Jim Croce - Operator" href="http://www.last.fm/music/Jim+Croce/_/Operator?autostart" target="_blank">Jim Croce</a> en de zwoele lucht masseerde al waaiend mijn hoofd terwijl het ongetwijfeld erg pittoreske landschap onzichtbaar voorbijgleed. De lange werkweek had me uitgeput, maar dankzij de sloten caffeïne van de voorbije uren bleven mijn ogen probleemloos open. Toch leek het alsof ik delen van de rit niet bewust meemaakte.</p>
<p>Erg rouwig was ik daar niet om. Elke keer ik me verbaasde over de afstand die ik al had afgelegd, was ik immers dichter bij huis, dichter bij mijn koele bed en dichter bij een verkwikkende nachtrust. Het idee alleen al deed me telkens opnieuw wegdromen.</p>
<p>En toen ineens, uit het niets, een klap. Meer dan een gewelddadige tik was het eigenlijk niet, maar het schokeffect droeg exponentieel bij aan het gevoel. In een reflex duwde ik meteen mijn rem en ontkoppelingspedaal met volle kracht in. Het duurde een paar seconden eer ik terug volledig bij bewustzijn was.</p>
<p>Terwijl de motor nog draaide en mijn beide handen met witte knokkels rond het stuur gewrongen zaten, keek ik in mijn achteruitkijkspiegel, waar ik het verwrongen wiel van een fiets achter mijn wagen zag uitsteken. Hoelang het precies duurde eer ik uitstapte, weet ik niet meer. Ik wandelde traag naar de achterkant van mijn wagen, terwijl talloze zweetdruppels zich een weg door mijn porieën baanden.</p>
<p>De damesfiets was rijp voor de schroothoop, ik was er helemaal overheen gereden. Ik steunde met mijn linkerhand op het kofferdeksel en legde mijn rechterhand op mijn borstkas, alsof dat mijn heftig pompende hart tot bedaren zou kunnen brengen. Het zweet van mijn handpalm vermengde zich in mijn hemd met het zweet van mijn borst en een zilte druppel viel van mijn wenkbrauw op mijn wang.</p>
<p>Zo bleef ik een tijdje staan, tot ik de moed had bijeengeraapt om aan de andere kant van de wagen te gaan kijken. Net op dat moment ging er een licht aan op de oprit van het huis waar mijn auto nog steeds voor stond te ronken. Een vrouwelijke figuur kwam voorzichtig naar me toe geschuifeld, terwijl ze haar kamerjas met beide handen dichtklemde.</p>
<p>&#8220;Dick?&#8221;</p>
<p>Ik had nu pas door dat ik voor mijn eigen huis tot stilstand was gekomen. Mijn vrouw keek me met verschrikte ogen aan en wierp vervolgens een blik vol ongeloof op de ravage. Ze keek opnieuw naar mij en het leek alsof ze iets wilde zeggen, maar de woorden niet vond.</p>
<p>Terwijl ik naar haar toe stapte zag ik dat er tranen in haar ogen opwelden. Ik pakte haar bij de schouders en keek haar aan.</p>
<p>&#8220;Godverdomme Rita&#8221;, hijgde ik, &#8220;hoe dikwijls moet ik u nog zeggen die fiets niet op straat te laten staan?&#8221;</p>

<p>Para quem gosta de ótima relação custo-benefício. A Leffe é uma das melhores opções de compra no mercado brasileiro.  Esta Belgian blond ale ( <a href="http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style18.php#1a">http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style18.php#1a</a> ) tem um aroma excelente, adocicado com toques de cravo, uma espuma de boa formação e com maior densidade, comparada com as cervejas comuns brasileiras, um sabor característico, frutado e condimentado, mas sobretudo tem um ótimo preço.</p>
<p>É facilmente encontrável nos principais supermercados brasileiros devido ao fato de ser produzida por uma cervejaria de propriedade da ABInBev (mega-cervejaria belgo-brasil-estadunidense formada pela fusão da Interbrew com a Ambev e posteriormente da Anheuser-Busch) a um preço bastante competitivo: em torno de quatro reais a garrafa de 355 ml. Tá bom, eu sei que comparado ao um real e dez da Skol, Brahma ou Kaiser esse valor parece absurdo. Mas ao comparar com outras importadas de qualidade equivalente, percebe-se que o investimento é altamente compensador.</p>
<p>Infelizmente existem boatos circulando dizendo que a InBev não mais importará para o Brasil as cervejas de sua linha alemã e belga (que incluem além da Leffe as cervejas Hoegaarden, Franziskaner, Spaten e Lowenbrau) já que a empresa estaria se desfazendo de suas unidades produtivas na Alemanha. Se a notícia se confirmar, será uma grande perda para os consumidores de boas cervejas.</p>
<p>Então precisamos aproveitar enquanto é tempo. Pra quem quiser sair do óbvio mas não está disposto a gastar altas somas, eis uma cerveja que vale a pena.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Une de mes correspondantes basée à Douchy Les Mines, Tchiki, qui devait me rendre un papier ultra-intéressant sur un vigile et une friterie (IL EST OU D’AILLEURS CE FICHU PAPIER !!!!!) vient de calmer mon énervement digne d’un rédacteur en chef avec une info des plus atypiques &#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ce week-end, elle a fui la campagne du Hainaut pour vérifier les dires d’une de ses sources asiatiques. Billet en poche, départ de Brussel-Zaventem vers le Cambodge et plus précisément Phnom-Penh pour découvrir la “première friterie restaurant d’Asie” !! Et non vous ne rêvez pas !!!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">“<em><strong>La Patate</strong></em>”, c’est son nom original, sévit sur les plaines cambodgiennes. L’initiateur de ce truc de ouf n’est autre qu’un belge expatrié depuis 12 ans, Didier, qui a voulu ramener un peu de belgitude dans ce pays plutôt habitué aux Nems et mets de poissons en tout genres.</p>

Le patron livre gratuitement ses frites aux hôtels et restaurants de la ville, et vend sa cuisine aux touristes tous ébahis par ce chariot planté en plein milieu d’une route sinueuse &#8230; Le savoir-faire est identique aux friteries que l’on trouve dans le Nord et en Belgique, à savoir les frites sont baignées dans deux bains d’huile différents. C’est ce procédé qui rend le moelleux et le goût si particulier des frites d’min coin. Didier porte son concept jusqu’au moindre petit détail : deux tailles de cornet de frites : standard ou jumbo, et possibilité de boire au bar de la Leffe, de la Stella Artois, de la Duvel et même de la Hoegaarden ! Des affiches des couvertures des albums de Tintin décorent l’intérieur en compagnie de chaises vert fluo.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Mais bien sûr, tout ceci à un prix pour le touriste. Comptez 6 dollars environ le poulet-frites et 23 dollars l’entrecôte pour 2 personnes. Pour le goûter une formule à 3 dollars comprend un espresso et une pâtisserie française bien sûr <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> . Le tout ouvert jusqu’à 3 heures du matin !</p>

<p>It could be argued that either <a href="http://www.beermerchants.com/B5267" target="_blank">Leffe</a> or <a href="http://www.beermerchants.com/B5129">Duvel</a> is the archetypal Belgian blonde ale, and one of the most popular bottled beers in the country as well as being well-known internationally.  <a href="http://www.beermerchants.com/B5129">Duvel</a>, in the name means &#8220;Devil&#8221; and some other blonde beers follow the theme &#8212; Satan, Lucifer, Brigand, Piraat and so on.  Abbey blonde beers like Steenbrugge and Leffe also fit the bill &#8211; the popular Val-Dieu and <a href="http://www.beermerchants.com/B5064">Brugse Zot</a> has been ever so popular here at Beermerchants.com.</p>
<p>But what&#8217;s the point?  why are these beers so popular?  are they lagers for grown ups?  are they just for people who&#8217;ve been to Belgium and want to express that point when they go to the pub&#8230;?</p>
<p>I am sure that there are many people out there who have discovered the delights of Belgian beer before ever venturing there.  Lagers for grown ups, what a load of tosh, but it might well be possible?</p>
<p>I really love some of the history of the old monastic Belgian brewers &#8211; especially the not to be confused with <a href="http://cavedirectresources.com/beer-range/belgian/trappist-beers/">Trappist</a> -</p>
<p>According to the probably very edited script(ures) on Wikipedia &#8211; The abbey <em>Notre Dame de Leffe</em> was founded in 1152 on the Meuse River in the province of Namur in southern Belgium. Like many monasteries across Europe, the Premonstratensian (Norbertine) canons of the abbey brewed ale. Using knowledge like many of the monestaries at the time, they were brewing beer &#8211; although official inbev or what ever they are called now, say they brewed a &#8220;unique&#8221; beer, whether that&#8217;s true or not, I have in my youth drunk my fair share of Leffe, even when it was a bottle conditioned beer.</p>
<p>Interesting to read that the abbey, in Dinant a beautiful gorge on the Meuse,  itself has known hard times and has been damaged by both natural and human circumstances over the years. In 1460 the abbey was destroyed by a flood, a fire swept through the settlement in 1466, in 1735 billeted troops damaged the brewery, and in 1794 the outbreak of the French Revolution resulted in the abbey being deserted and the brewery destroyed. The canons returned in 1902.</p>
<p>In 1952, the production of beer was continued after a partnership with the Flemish based Lootvoet brewery in Overijse. This brewery was later bought by the international beer company Interbrew (now InBev). Leffe was then brewed in Mont-Saint-Guibert until Interbrew closed that brewery. Now all Leffe brands are brewed at the Stella Artois brewery in Leuven. The 1952 agreement between the Leffe abbey and a commercial brewery is said to have been the first of its kind (royalties continue to be paid to the abbey).</p>
<p>So, with all this history &#8211; is that a Basic Belgian?  If I was to pick a gateway belgian blond beer &#8211; perhaps, 6 or so years ago, I might have, now I would certainly suggest the double gold winner in the world beer cup &#8211; <a href="http://www.beermerchants.com/B5064">Brugse Zot</a>.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">The best part of running a bar is working with food &#38; drink. The new menu was introduced at the beginning of May; it’s already proving to be a success with our regular and new customers a like, so I’m entering phase two &#8211; the drinks!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Over the next couple of months I will be experimenting with niche brands to develop a quality list of alcoholic &#38; non-alcoholic beverages, which can only improve on the appeal of the bar.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">We now have bottled Leffe &#38; Erdinger on sale; I’m eagerly awaiting the Leffe challis’ to add that magic edge to the presentation. I love the history of European beers – and can’t wait for Budvar (bottled) &#38; Krombacher (draught).</p>

Poi luppolo e integrazione verticale tra birrifici e pub in Belgio.<br />
Nel pomeriggio: visita alla Interbrew, anzi InBev, anzi AmBev, anzi Anheuser-Busch InBev.<br />
In pratica allo stabilimento di produzione della Stella Artois, Jupiler, Leffe e altro.</p>

Il y a les connues comme la Leffe ou la Stella Artois, et les moins populaires, celles qu&#8217;on ne trouve que dans les estaminets ou dans les grandes surfaces spécialisées en bière.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ce guide a pour but de vous faire découvrir de nouvelles saveurs de bière, vous faire voyager à travers les champs de houblon. Commençons notre premier verre en commun par la grisette aux fruits des bois.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">L&#8217;une des bières aromatisées les plus connues est la kriek, pour son goût très sucré et par le fait également qu&#8217;elle plaît à de nombreuses filles <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> . La grisette lui ressemble avec sa robe aux couleurs fruits des bois. Une mousse compacte parsème le dessus lorsqu&#8217;elle est versée dans son verre. Au goût, ce jus de houblon est plus rude que la kriek, le goût &#8220;habituel&#8221; de la bière est plus prononcé, la saveur des fruits rouge pimente la gorgée d&#8217;une fraîcheur légèrement sucrée très desaltérante.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">A l&#8217;instar du vin, la bière peut accompagner de nombreux plats. La grisette est pour moi une bière d&#8217;après-midi, à déguster avec une bonne gauffre de Liège ou quelques croustillons.</p>

<p>Hoy ando con deseos de tomarme una rica cerveza Belga Leffe.  Es una Ale de fermentación alta esto quiere decir que la fermentación ocurre en la superficie del líquido, que en otras palabras la levadura que cumple el proceso de fermentación flota en la superficie del líquido durante varios días antes de descender al fondo.</p>
<p>Esta cerveza la probé por primera vez en un bar Alemán en Panamá, aunque la cerveza es Belga, viene en diferentes tipos como son:</p>
<p><strong>Leffe Blonde</strong> (6.6% <span style="text-decoration:underline;">APV*</span>).</p>
<p><strong>Leffe Brune</strong> (6.5% <a title="Alcohol by volume" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_by_volume">APV</a>).</p>
<p><strong>Leffe Triple</strong> (8.5% <a title="Alcohol by volume" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_by_volume">APV</a>). <strong>Leffe Radieuse</strong> y <strong>Leffe Vieille Cuvée</strong> (ambas 8.4% <a title="Alcohol by volume" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_by_volume">APV</a>).</p>

<p><img class="alignleft" title="Leffe Glass" src="http://www.belgiumbymail.com/item_list/beer/leffe_beer_glass.jpg" alt="" width="142" height="193" />Probé la Blond y la Brune pero por mi preferencia por las cervezas oscuras la Brune fue mi favorita, tiene sabor espeso, maltoso pero como dulzón, nunca había probado una cerveza igual y esos grados de alcohol no relajan, lo que más me gusta es que trae su copa para servirse y según  marca hay que dejarla hacer su espuma para que desprenda su aroma y pueda ser mejor apreciada.</p>

<p>Tiene un website que da gusto pasar por ahí, es estilo una taberna antigua en la que eliges el tipo de cerveza de la marca y te sale un viejito bartender, te hace preguntas y te permite interactuar para aprender de ese tipo de cerveza en especifico, como son los tipos de ingredientes que tiene, como debe ser servida, las comidas con las cuales se debe tomar entre otras cosas, no tiene desperdicio, pásense por ahí cuando tengan tiempo de dedicarle unos cuantos minutos  <a title="Leffe" href="http://www.leffe.com/" target="_self">http://www.leffe.com/</a></p>
<p>Hace tiempo que no voy a BeerHouse porque me da miedo$$$ me pregunto si tendrán Leffe porque haría un esfuerzo sí, asi que si alguien sabe, dejenme saber!</p>
<p>PD. Recomiendo probar la Bohemia Light, de introducción la están haciendo buenísima, no amarga para nada y la Quisqueya Extra pero esa no aparece fácil.</p>
