The worlds of fashion and art continue to blur. And as long as it continues to provide inspiring eye candy, I don’t think any of us are complaining.

Berühmt wurde die als Anna-Lou Leibovitz 1949 in Connecticut geborene ehemalige Chef-Fotografin der Magazine “Rolling Stone” und “Vanity Fair” vor allem durch ihre Porträts der US-Prominenz. Ihre Aufnahmen von Bette Midler, den Rolling Stones und von Whoopi Goldberg gingen um die Welt. Berühmt wurde Leibovitz durch ihre Fotos von John Lennon und Yoko Ono , wenige Stunden vor Lennons Ermordung.

Dass sich in der Schau im Kunst Haus Aufnahmen von Bill Clinton im Oval Office, von George W. Bush und seinem Stab, von Nelson Mandela in Soweto, von der hochschwangeren Demi Moore und von Jack Nicholson am Mulholland Drive finden, ist deshalb nicht weiter verwunderlich. Außergewöhnlich sind da schon die vielen privaten, ja manchmal intimen Fotos aus dem Familienalltag der Fotografin. Gezeigt werden Familienfeste, Ausflüge ans Meer, bewegende Bilder vom Tod des Vaters und Aufnahmen von der Geburt der drei Töchter, dazu Bilder von Reisen nach Sarajewo, Venedig, Berlin, Kyoto und Kairo.

Die Fotos fügen sich nahtlos zu einer Chronik der Ereignisse der offiziellen Aufträge und privaten Geschichten aus den Jahren 1990 bis 2005. Die Ausstellung im Kunst Haus Wien umfasst rund 200 teils großflächige, monochrome Landschaftsaufnahmen sowie kleinformatige Schwarz-Weiß-Porträts und ist Familienalbum, Werkschau und persönliches Tagebuch in einem.

Eine bemerkenswerte Ausstellung in Wien. Das Video, das in der Retrospektive gezeigt wird, ist ein echtes Zeitdokument. Es lohnt sich.

Die Familienbilder und die Fotos vom langen Sterben ihrer Lebensgefährtin Susan Sontag haben mich am meisten berührt.

First Lady Michelle Obama’s style and wardrobe is celebrated in a glossy new book that will delight her growing band of fashion devotees

Telegraph.co.uk/Philip Sherwell—Michelle Obama demonstrated a fresh skill to the American people last week when she completed an impressive 142 swivels of a hula hoop on the South Lawn of the White House at a “healthy kids fair” to promote fitness and nutrition for children. She hitched up her studded belt over a blue cardigan, held out arms hung heavy with bangles and skillfully sashayed hips clad in figure-hugging black capri trousers.

Mrs Obama was again filling the role she gave herself during her husband’s presidential bid of the nation’s “Mom-in-chief“. For her legions of fashion devotees, it was also further evidence of the style she has brought to events ranging from glitzy dinners to physical work-outs.

Almost a year after Barack Obama won that historic race, there have been numerous books about the election, the first African-American incumbents at the White House and a new era of American politics.

Now the First Lady is now the subject of a series of glossy books celebrating a closet that has made the transition from the campaign trail to Washington. Published this week by Hachette, Mrs O: The Face of Fashion Democracy is a tribute to the mix of designer brand with high street outfits that is earning her glowing accolades.

The book is a spin-off from the blog Mrs.O , set up last year by Mary Tomer, 28, who works in advertising for Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York. “I was captivated by this very dynamic professional woman who was confident wearing such striking feminine clothes,” she told The Sunday Telegraph.

“She was just as happy wearing off-the-rack outfits for $150 as she was choosing interesting young designers in high fashion. It was such a change for a woman in politics where if you think of style at all, it’s all boxy suits.”

The book features features more than 120 photographs, including rarely-seen images from the campaign trail, details her own impressive professional career as a lawyer, and then delves into the back story of her clothes and accessories. It also goes behind the scenes with interviews from some of her favorite designers, including Isabel Toledo, Jason Wu, Michael Kors, Maria Pinto and Isaac Mizrahi.

In an extensive interview with the author, Style.com notes: Even before Michelle Obama moved into the White House, publishers were scrambling to meet with the public’s demand for books on the new First Family. But while some of those books now seem slapdash or rushed, next month will see the release of Mrs. O, a colorful hardback written by blogger Mary Tomer, dedicated to Mrs. Obama’s style from her early days as a student to her role as the first African-American First Lady in the nation’s history. Tomer explains her project as a labor of love, one that began when she first clocked Mrs. Obama at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, joining the president on stage after the speech that vaulted him into the collective consciousness.

New screen saver, anyone? The White House released a new Obama family portrait taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. The First Family sat in the White House’s Green Room for the picture, at left. -Flickr

Cyberspace is roiling content associated with the new First Family portrait. Annie Leibovitz took the picture on September 1, and the news about it is just coming out now.

Not many people are commenting on the image because they seemed to be obsessed with the fact that Leibovitz is broke. She made some deal with a pawnbroker company and owes it millions.

But what about the picture? Has Leibovitz flunked photography 101? Probably not, but I can point out some flaws in the image that most photographers would avoid. Here’s what I found a bit off in the family portrait:

1. Michelle’s black dress. As a small image on the Internet, it looks as if it’s solid black. It also lies one-third from the right part of the frame (following the Rule of Thirds). I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the first thing I observe in an image to be black. It look’s as if her body has been cut out of the picture with scissors. Leibovitz should consider how her images will look on the Internet.

2. The framed picture behind Sasha’s head. Photography’s number one rule is to not have objects popping out of people’s heads.

3. Sasha’s hand. It looks as if it was cut and pasted and set on Obama’s shoulder.

4. The urn on top of the fireplace. Annie, you should have removed that. It’s too distracting. It takes away from the subjects in the picture.

Okay, so I’ve been ratty enough. All-in-all, I have to say I really like the picture once I look past the flaws, which to some aren’t flaws at all. Leibovitz probably set up the shot so that the picture frame behind Sasha’s head and the urn on top of the fireplace give viewers an idea of how the Green Room looks.

Ah j’ai retrouvé le ZentaÏ. Art de disparaître dans des tenues de lycra.

C’est assez beau ces silhouettes . Les premiers essais étaient terribles. dans les années 70; quand les matières n’étaient pas encore si extensibles , et lorsque les combinaisons reprenaiant des images de serie Télé japonnaise.

Marcy Anarchy, fondateur du mouvement « Zentaï » en 85 : “Dans le sens où on cache son visage dans le zentaï, on peut dire que c’est un acte irresponsable, puisqu’on ne sait pas qui est en dessous du costume. Quand on montre son visage, on doit assumer, et dans le zentaï, on efface l’identité et la personnalité. Du coup on enlève une part de responsabilité et là, on devient plus libre.”

Dommage qui les images sur le net soient si ordinaires. Enfin dommages que les amateurs se filment dans leur chambre à fond turquoise, ou près de leur voiture. C’est glauque et moche. On est loin deLeigh Bowery

O caso entrou nos jornais há pouco tempo. Annie Leibovitz, geralmente tratada como “fotógrafa de celebridades”, foi à bancarrota e está devendo US$ 24 milhões – talvez perca, além de imóveis, os direitos autorais de todas as suas fotos. Pois é, é lamentável que só assim Os Estrangeiros puderam lembrar do quanto o trabalho de Leibovitz nos fez viajar e precisa sim adornar essas páginas. Desculpas feitas, vamos à ela.

A jovem Annie começou a fotografar quando estudava arte na Califórnia, na década de 1960. Estava fascinada pela portabilidade das câmeras, por poder fotografar seu cotiano, recortar a realidade com rapidez, magia e criatividade. Logo foi absorvida pela redação da eminente revista Rolling Stone e alçou voo com a equipe rumo à popularidade. Rapidamente Annie se tornou chefe de fotografia de uma das revistas  que mais rapidamente se tornou uma das publicaçõe mais influentes do mundo.

Perfeccionista ao extremo, costumava tirar centenas de fotos para publicar até uma simples nota na revista. Viajou em turnê para fotografar a banda Rolling Stones e 1976, voltando com milhares de negativos e o vício aprofundado por pílulas, álcool e cocaína. O próprio editor da revista ficou feliz com sua saída para a revista de moda Vanity Fair, pois via que o meio rocanrol estava consumindo o corpo e os nervos da melhor fotógrafa que já tinha visto em ação. “A Rolling Stone sobreviverá sem Annie, mas Annie não sobreviverá com a Rolling Stone”, ponderou Jan Wenner, o eterno editor-chefe da publicação.

Na Vanity Fair, Leibovitz abandonou de vez o estilo rápido do fotojornalismo, fazendo ensaios com produções cada vez maiores. Máquinas e cenários cada vez mais caros se revertiam em capas que logo se esgotavam nas bancas de revista. Assim, todas as grandes publicações de moda passaram a encará-la como um luxo caro e necessário.

A fotógrafa também foi se especializando em tirar a roupa de seus modelor. O papo é que no mundo fashion ela é conhecida por conseguir deixar seus fotografados “bem à vontade”. E já era assim nos tempos de Rolling Stone, quando ficou célebre por fazer fotos de John Lennon nu agarrado à Yoko Ono, poucas horas antes do ex-beatle ser assassinado.

Leibovitz foi duramente criticada pela imprensa em 2006, ao incluir em meio a uma exposição de seus trabalhos as imagens de sua ex-companheira, a celebridade intelectual Susan Sontag, já fragilizada pelo câncer, e até mesmo morta na sala dos fundos de uma capela funerária. “Leibovitz tratava Sontag como sua celebridade pessoal”, alguém influente disse.

O que esses bundas-moles não entendem é que não existem duas Annies Leibovitz: uma que vive e outra que tira fotos. É como dizer que foi pouco profissional Van Gogh pintar um quadro em que aparece com a (falta de) orelha enfaixada. “Cortar a própria orelha é problema pessoal do tio Gogh, ele que nos poupe de suas excentricidades”, diria o New York Times. A arte acompanha o artista em tempo integral – seja fazendo fotos pra Vanity Fair, no funeral da família ou dando cambalhotas no trampolim.

Fellow shutterbug Annie Leibovitz is facing some serious charges and stand to loose all the images that made her famous. She has a debt of over $24 million and to add insult to injury, an Italian photographer is slapping her with a lawsuit, claiming she used his images unauthorized. Additionally, there are unpaid taxes and contractors. Ms Leibovitz is trying to liquidate her three homes according to attorneys and those involved, but it will barely cover the charges plus loan interests and commissions.

It is difficult not to remember her theatrical and often controversial images. For instance, take that one of Demi Moore pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair or the timeless image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono hours before he got killed on December 8, 1980. And what an honor that she got to do portraits of Queen Elizabeth II! Even though she had asked her to remove the royal crown during the session, a request which was declined, the pictures came out stunning.

People are debating how could this have happened to such a talented artist? Well that is just that, creativity and artistry have NOTHING to do with the more financial organizational skills that are required on the business end. We are babies in diapers that need to be changed constantly as we explore the whimsical world we live in. Many times creative people suffer during their lifetime, take Salvador Dali for instance. He was a genius madman! But he had help and the proper management that guided him along the way.

We as artists might find it hard to sit down and make logical sense of a task and carry it out start to finish. Just like it would be equally hard for an accountant or broker to dig deep into their soul and create a masterpiece canvas purely based on inspirations and dreams. They are factual, an artist is emotional.

I truly feel for Annie Leibovitz and hope that those around her will step in and lend a helping hand to the chaos this icon has created within her own universe. We all could use a little help at times and there is nothing wrong with that…

Annie Leibovitz is as famous as the people she photographs but now the genius behind the lens is close to financial ruin — a victim, some say, of her own relentless artistic ambition.Among the qualities making Leibovitz, 59, the most sought after portrait photographer in the world are legendary perfectionism and the pouring of resources into lavish sets….

…In what now appears as a disastrous decision to raise funds, Leibovitz took a 24-million-dollar loan from Art Capital Group (ACG) — in effect a high-end pawn broker — in December 2008 using her own photographs as collateral.

Selon le New York Times de ce jour (ici), Annie Leibovitz est attaquée en justice par Art Capital Group qui, en échange d’un prêt de 24 millions de dollars, a pris une garantie sur l’ensemble de sa production photographique et sur ses biens immobiliers à Manhattan et Rhinebeck. La compagnie prétend, toujours selon le NY Times, que la photographe s’oppose à l’estimation de ses biens et doit plusieurs centaines de milliers de dollars.

Entendido isso, quero mostrar aqui alguns fotografos,artistas e as vezes designers, o modo como eles vêem o mundo,e o expõe ao mundo. Ultimamente a pessoa que mais me encantou foi Annie Leibovitz, uma fotografa americana que de um jeito simples de retratar o cotidiano ,tornou sua paixão em trabalho. Annie(já tô intima da mulher) começou a fotografar nas viagens que fazia com sua familia, e  registrava o mundo atravez da janelinha do carro.

Teve a oportunidade de trabalhar na revista Rollings Stones, e lá permaneceu por muito tempo, e ela ficou conhecida como fotografa dos famosos,fotografando desde John Lennon & Yoko Ono ao mais recente White Stripe, isso sem contar a temporada que fotografou os Rollings Stone(mas isso é uma história a parte).

Depois de muito fotografar o mundo da musica,Annie começou a trabalhar pra Vanity Fair (que na época estava passando por um replanejamento editorial) site/revista de moda e celebridades e foi onde realmente encontrou sua “galinha dos ovos de ouro”,fazendo produções grandiosas para suas fotografia…

Vale a pena conferir o Documentário que fizeram sobre  “Annie Leibovitz – Avida atravez das lentes” (Life through a lens) e tirar conclusões proprias sobre suas fotografias.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be an astronaut. I was fascinated by the concept of space – the final frontier, as Captain James T Kirk so eloquently put it. Thirty years on, I remain in awe of everything beyond this planet, and wonder how I would feel about Earth, and my time on it, were I able to go up there, among the stars, and look down on this precious planet.

Via my good buddy Eirik’s Twitter, I’ve just watched a multimedia presentation the likes of which I’ve never seen. Sponsored by fashion house Louis Vuitton, and including a stunning photograph by Annie Leibovitz, A Journey Beyond presents three iconic astronauts and their adventures in space. I’m not embarrassed to admit that watching and listening to them, I shed some tears.

Sally Ride (the first woman in space), Jim Lovell (Apollo XIII commander) and Buzz Aldrin (the second man on the moon) each speak about the moments in their lives that shaped history. Ride’s tale of being the first woman in space is extraordinary when you consider she was not even a pilot when she enrolled in the space program. Lovell’s Apollo XIII miracle is well documented, and the subject of Ron Howard’s 1995 movie of the same name, in which Tom Hanks plays Lovell. Aldrin’s moon landing, celebrating its 40th anniversary this week, is as unbelievable as anyone could imagine.

Listening to their heroic, pioneering tales, one thing rings true. Space exploration is so important. Aside from the scientific advancements research from space has provided, the exploration of space is essential in gaining an understanding of the world we live in, and why it is so important to treat both it, and ourselves, with respect.

If each of these astronauts, and their many colleagues, could be given time with the Kim Jong-Ils and Osama bin Ladens of the world to discuss the error in their folly, perhaps they might listen, and feel there is more to life than bombs, religious division, terrorism and arguments. If you travel to space, you come home with one of the most valuable things availbe to a human being – perspective.

Having watched A Journey Beyond, I feel I’ve had the privilege of a little precious, one-on-one time with this trio of extraordinary human beings who now have that perspective, and gained a valuable insight into why that’s such an important thing to remember. In life, only a few things are really important – peace, harmony, love, caring are among them. Sadly, we spend far too much time on other less important things for our own selfish gratification.

Hence my tears. They were both in awe at the stories, but equally in frustration that we can’t all think with kindness when confronted with our differences.

Each of Ride, Lovell and Aldrin describes looking back at the Earth from space, and how it changed their perspective. It is a life-changing experience. How could it not? Lovell’s anecdote of covering the Earth with his thumb through the window of Apollo XIII perfectly encapsulates how we should all look at the Earth. “Everything I know in life is right behind my thumb,” he thought. It seemed so small, and yet we we all have to live together on it.

Aldrin describes standing on the surface of the moon, looking up over the lunar horizon, the sky black, the Sun blindingly bright, and sitting peacefully between it all, the Earth, glistening like a jewel in the distance, its colours no doubt impossible to describe. “It wasn’t beautiful,” he said. “It was unearthly.”

When you consider the chaos, the devastation, wars, killings, cruelty, environmental mismanagement and other atrocities that we have all had a hand in creating, you cannot help but think the giant leap Aldrin’s crewmate Neil Armstrong took has been followed by two in the opposite direction.

I’m convinced we’d take more care of things if we’d all been to space and been able to look back on what it is we’re actually making a mess of. Surely, we’d look back and wonder “why”, and return to Earth with a renewed resolve to do better, to nurse our tiny planet and leave it in the best possible shape for those that follow. It doesn’t matter if it’s too late. We have to change our intentions.

The Vuitton campaign is not just a wonderful piece of multimedia innovation, with a beautiful soundtrack from composer Mathieu Baillot, but it is also aiming to increase awareness of the many environmental issues that threaten our very being and time on Earth, and also promotes Al Gore’s “Climate Project”.

I strongly recommend that you take the time to look at it, and I trust you’ll try to make the world a better place when you’re done. In the last words chapter, Lovell says: “The one thing I never worry about is crisis.” If only we could all be so philosophical. Ride mentions “perspective”, and the importance of “seeing Earth as a planet”. Aldrin returned thinking about the future, and “how to make it better”.

We can’t all go to space, but by thinking the same way as those that can, perhaps we can make a difference.

Le Centre Culturel Calouste Gulbenkian (51 avenue d’Iéna à Paris et ici) montre 140 photographies réalisées par 100 femmes pour une exposition sobrement intitulée “Au féminin”. Les cartels sont très complets et dignes du meilleur des musées, de même que l’éclairage qui garantit une quasi-absence de reflets.

Ce matin, il y avait entre zéro et deux visiteurs, autant dire qu’on ne bouscule pas et ce d’autant que les locaux de la fondation, l’ancien hôtel particulier du banquier Rodolphe Kann bâti en 1897 et transformé en 1923 par Calouste Gulbenkian, sont immenses et la hauteur sous plafond impressionnante.

L’exposition se déroule deux niveaux, autour de plusieurs thématiques. Au rez-de-chaussée, on peut ainsi voir : “les âges de la femme”, “maternité”, “quelques femmes”, “à la maison”, “nature” ainsi qu’une surprenante exposition de pionnières de la photographie. A l’étage, on aborde “le loisir”, les “fictions et métaphores”, le “shopping et la mode”, le “travail”, “l’extérieur” et “stars et déesses”.

Ces thèmes peuvent paraître un peu “naïfs” mais l’exposition, par son sujet facilement appréhendable, s’adresse au plus grand nombre et, à ce titre, elle autorise un découpage simple, peu analytique mais efficace.

La période couverte va des origines à nos jours avec une préférence, me semble-t-il, pour les grands noms historique de la photographie. L’exposition a eu recours à de nombreux fonds et principalement à la fameuse galerie new-yorkaise, Howard Greenberg (ici). Les photographies sont de toute provenance et finalement, le Portugal n’est pas trop “envahissant” (la Fondation est portugaise et la tentation existait d’être centré sur ce pays).

Pour les “âges de la femme”, ce sont Diane Arbus, Germaine Krull, Lisette Model et Margaret Bourke-White qui sont convoquées.

Pour “Quelques femmes”, où l’on voit des portraits de femmes, on peut voir Dorothea Lange en action photographiée par elle-même et Dora Maar. Dans “à la maison”, on peut voir des travaux plus récents comme ceux de Mona Kuhn et…. une photo de Carla Bruni (en bas de droite de l’illustration ci-dessous), au même titre que Obama, bien sûr.

Pour “nature”, là-aussi, un effort pour nos contemporains avec Anni Leppälä et Flor Garduno. Par contraste, dans un contrebas, ce sont les pionnières qui sont mises en valeur avec des épreuves à l’albumine dont la plus ancienne remonte à 1853 (lady Augusta Mostyn).

A l’étage, on retrouve ce sympathique mélange avec aussi bien Vee Speers et Edith Maybin que Cindy Sherman pour “Fictions et métaphores”, Sarah Moon et Annie Leibovitz aussi bien que Lee Miller pour “Stars et déesses”.

Seule la rubrique “travail” m’avait semblée purement historique avec Abott et Lange mais je viens de découvir que Cristina Garcia Rodero est contemporaine puisqu’elle vient d’être admise comme “full member” chez Magnum (le billet de ce jour sur Exposure Compensation montre d’ailleurs une photo exposée, “La confession”). Dans cette rubrique, on trouve fortement représentée Maria Lamas, la seule entorse à la règle de neutralité vis à vis de photographes portuguais.

C’est gratuit, il n’y a personne et pourtant c’est une bonne exposition alors allez voir : c’est jusqu’au 29 septembre 2009.

애니 레보비츠네 식구들은 어렸을 때 항상 대가족이 한 차에 낑겨 타고 멀리멀리 이사와 여행을 다녔기에 차창으로 풍경을 보는 것 자체가 이미 프레임 구성이었고, 이사간 낯선 곳에서 너-무 심심해서 사진기를 갖고 놀다 사진의 길로 접어들었다고 한다.  그렇게 들어선 사진의 길에서 그녀가 사진에 대해 어떤 고민을 했는지가 더 직접적으로 드러나길 바랐지만, 애니 레보비츠와 작업한 특별한 경험을 회고하는 유명인들의 인터뷰로 그녀의 독특한 재능이나 사진관을 재구성하는 과정이 영화에서 차지하는 비중이 생각보다(그리고 나의 소망보다) 길었다.  애니 레보비츠 사진들의 아주 긴 메이킹 필름을 본 것 같다. 

직관적인 연출력과 노력으로 얻은 친근감이 있어야만 나오는 그림들에 끊임없이 감격하게 되지만, 전기 영화로 만들 것이었다면 수잔 손택과의 특별한 관계라든지 르뽀 사진을 왜 더는 찍지 않는지와 같은 내용을 더 파고들었으면 좋았을걸…  하하, 내가 궁금해하는 것들을 밝혀주지 않았다고 투정하는 이 기분;

” As for Rielle Hunter, “This person is very different from me, and really very different from him,” says Elizabeth. Rihanna “We’re basically old-fashioned people. So, this was a pretty big leap for him.

Maybe it’s being so different is what was attractive.” Rihanna may have postponed her planned May 28 comeback concert in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, but she gave a surprise taste of what might have been by dueting with Kanye West at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in NYC. “It was pure craziness. Bono went onstage to introduce Kanye, who came on and sang two songs.

She’s back and better than ever!” Photographer Annie Leibovitz has put her camera in front of many famous faces, but her experience shooting first lady Michelle Obama for the March issue of Vogue was unforgettable. “The most extraordinary thing that she does is she lets you be yourself,” Leibovitz told Usmagazine at the Kennedy Center Spring Gala in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

“She wants you to be yourself, and there’s no airs. It’s great — she’s smart, she’s beautiful.” She added: “I’ve known them since the beginning — when (President Barack Obama) was still running for senate.

What’s so great is … we’ve worked with these people for a period of time, so it’s almost like you feel more comfortable with them.” Obama — who also attended the 17th annual event with her mother, Marian Robinson — was interviewed for the fashion magazine by editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley, and Leibovitz gave him credit for taking the reins during the photo shoot. Leibovitz also opened up about another magazine cover she photographed — the controversial Miley Cyrus shoot for last year’s Vanity Fair. “The truth is, we had a great, great time on the shoot, and I love the pictures,” she said.

“I thought they were beautiful and strong. I stood behind the pictures, and I love them, so it was a young girl sort of coming of age.” The photographer told Us she has not spoken to the Hannah Montana star since the topless photo scandal.

La fotógrafa Annie Leibovitz y la escritora Susan Sontag fueron pareja durante 15 años. Ambas compartieron vida y muerte, porque fue Leibovitz quien le hizo las últimas fotos, calva y ojerosa, al que fuera el amor de su vida.  Susan Sontag murió en 2004 y la artista, que inmortalizó a John Lennon y a Yoko Ono abrazados desnudos  ha tenido que enfrentar varios litigios por las propiedades que ambas compartían. Para no perderlas ha tenido que  pedir un préstamo millonario suficiente para pagar el 50 por ciento al Estado norteamericano, según publica The New York Times.  Leibovitz  como aval puso la propiedad de sus obras,  los derechos de autor, los negativos y los derechos contractuales de cada fotografía. Esta mujer cobra 100. 000 dólares  por jornada de trabajo y pagará sus deudas mejor que muchos de los que debemos a los bancos. Cómo se las arreglará la señora Leibovitz  es intrascendente, lo verdaderamente terrible es que las parejas homosexuales permanezcan en ese vacío jurídico, donde la desprotección es encontrarse de frente a la calle vacía o a las puertas de un banco.

Annie Leibovitz is an American photographer, notorious for her celebrity photos, most often featured in magazines like Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair. Leibovitz has photographed icons like John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Queen Elizabeth, Demi Moore and LeBron James.

What is most alluring about her photos, besides who is in them, is how Leibovitz uses lighting to dramatize her subjects. For example, in her photo of Queen Elizabeth, the light source comes from the left side of the photograph. It casts shadows, but lights up the Queens face. The combination making the photo more interesting and hints at deeper themes.

Another photo of Leibovitz’s that utilizes lighting well is the photo of Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella. The background of the photo, which includes Walt Disney World, is illuminated and magical. In contrast, where “Cinderella” is running to is dark and ominous.

This photographer also incorporates interesting depths of field into her photos. The background and the foreground are both necessary as they provide details and give her photos more character. Without the open window or the Magic Kingdom in the background both of Leibovitz’s subjects would be missing crucial details to their story lines. In essence, she wastes no space to paint a fuller picture of her subjects.

I definitely recommend watching this documentary whether you are a photographer or just have an interest in photography.

Maybe its because I understand the context, but I see something in this that I see through my own eyes.
