Tarkett, a worldwide leader in innovative flooring and sports surface solutions, has achieved an unequalled improvement in indoor air quality. All Tarkett homogeneous vinyl floorings now have VOC emissions below quantifiable levels (TVOC <10 μg/m3). This makes Tarkett an industry reference for VOC emissions reduction.

In the UK, the average person will spend up to 90% of their time indoors, whether at home, in the office/workplace or school. Indoor air quality is therefore an important consideration for our health and well-being. All products, including building materials and fixtures and fittings, will release a certain amount of emissions, but those of most concern are VOCs (volatile organic compounds). These can be both natural and man-made, toxic or harmless, but prolonged exposure to VOCs in the indoor environment can have longer-term health implications.

In any room, the flooring will account for a large proportion of the surface area and as such can make a significant contribution to the indoor air quality. So its important to have an awareness and understanding of the VOC emissions from the flooring, but the reported levels can be confusing, particularly for the end-user who may be unfamiliar with the regulations. Tarkett has successfully cut through the confusion with VOC emissions below quantifiable levels on all its homogeneous vinyl ranges, helping to reassure clients that their flooring will not only look great, it will also contribute to a safe and healthy indoor environment for the occupants.

Tarkett homogeneous vinyl floorings include the highly successful iQ Range, and the Premium and Plus ranges, which all provide tough and ultra-durable solutions for heavy and very heavy traffic areas. High-quality raw materials and innovative surface treatments ensure long-lasting performance and appearance, low maintenance and excellent life cycle costs. Tarkett’s homogeneous vinyl floorings are ideal for commercial applications, particularly healthcare and education, as well as the retail and leisure sectors.
