Perkins says he initially thought the Bragging Rights community would embrace Timberlake after he joined Beyonce in the remake of his hit single Until the End of Time.Beyonce, who has consistently received the Bragging Rights has enough merit alone to get Timberlake the recognition he wants.In considering celebrities who’ll qualify to compete for the 2008 Rights, the community (almost) unanimously rejected Timberlake.There are some in the community who think Timberlake does deserve to be able to compete for the rights.

Perkins’ editorial nemisis in the Underprivileged Media Group, Howard Jones, says Timberlake should be able to atleast compete in the 2008 competition and says Perkins’ shouldn’t allow the community’s influence to determine who’s eligible to compete.Jones, the editor of the Ghetto Bragging Rights Unplugged says he’s not afraid to take Perkins to task over the issue.“Justin Timberlake is no Vanilla Ice. He deserves to be able to compete for the Ghetto’s most respected rights.

“I can see we’re going to disagree on a lot of issues,” of the growing editorial war emerging between the two editors.

“But I’m not afraid of challenging him for the rights of celebrities of all colors to get the opportunity to compete for the Ghetto Bragging Rights.”

What will it take to upstage Michael ‘Turtle’ Thorpe’s leading position for the 2008 Sexiest & Hardest Ghetto, Black, Male, Felon Bragging Rights? “This year’s competition is flooded with submissions,” competition editor, Kirkland Perkins notes. “Some are even sending their ‘wish list’ crimes & victims in in advance.”

On the national front, Cincinnati’s ‘Bonafied Hustler’ Lonnie Webster and Tennesse’s Lemaricus Davidson, Jones says, are amassing large bodies of fans and votes.

For the slaying of Rob Pursley in an attempted ‘carjacking’, Webster was sentenced to 80-and-a-half years to life in prison and continued to increase his sentence another 120 days by shouting expletives in the courtroom after his sentencing.

“His crime choice and showboat courtroom antics made him Thorpe’s 1st strong contender in 2007,” Perkins said. “He continues to amass support.”

“But then the Tennesse brothers emerged.” Tennesse’s Lemaricus Davidson and Letalvis Cobbins, are two of 3 defendants who are currently being held on a 46-count presentment in the deaths of Channon Christian, 21, and her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23.

Rapists, child molestors and black-on-black criminal assailants are usually not permitted in the Bragging Rights competition.

Early on, his decision to invoke the Emit Till Allowable Rape clause and admit Davidson & Cobbins winded Perkins some criticism.

“But based on the theory that Christian & Newsom had chosen to travel thru the seedy Washington Pike area to buy drugs, presented by St. Nicolas Thief, there were more cries calling for their admittance.” Perkins said.

“The sheer number & type of their alleged crimes coupled with the new accusation and public outcry justified my decsion.”

Perkins says underprivileged, black, male hopefuls on the local scene seem to be a little ‘challenged’.

“There are so many who submit applications but don’t seem to fully understand the competitions rules.

“It’s tragic because the implication is that they don’t read the rules. Many who go through with their acts find themselves ineligible because they chose ‘black’ victims.”
