Veel keepers kijken ieder jaar uit naar het zaalseizoen.

Ze krijgen dan altijd veel te doen en zijn vaak directer betrokken bij het spel dan op het veld. Toch zijn er een aantal specifieke zaken waar de keepers op moeten letten en om ze daar op te wijzen organiseren we ieder jaar een zaalclinic voor alle jeugdkeepers die in de zaal gaan keepen.

 Dit jaar is dit als volgt geregeld:

29/11/2009 tussen 12.30 uur en 14.00 uur
Bedoeld voor alle keepers die op maandag keeperstraining hebben.
Dit zijn over het algemeen keepers met al meerdere jaren keeperservaring en het accent zal voor deze groep liggen op het doen van veel oefeningen.

06/12/2009 tussen 10.00 uur en 12.00 uur
Alle overige keepers zijn van harte welkom op deze clinic waarbij we niet alleen oefeningen zullen doen, maar ook uitleg zullen geven over materiaal, over regels en over eventuele andere zaken waar je op moet letten.

Om hieraan mee te kunnen doen wil ik betrokkenen verzoeken om een mail te sturen naar keepers@leonidas.nl onder vermelding van zaalclinic en de naam van de keeper of keepster en het bijbehorende elftal.

Afhankelijk van het aantal aanmeldingen maken we een verdeling voor die ochtend.

Laten we er weer een mooi zaalseizoen van maken!

First off, a Thanksgiving news alert:  I don’t plan to post on Thursday, November 26 or Friday, November 27.  I’m headed off to visit my in-laws in Detroit, and they have these crazy ideas about people sitting in the same room and enjoying each others’ company.  :)

It’s been a quiet week as the US readies for the holiday.  

Well, not entirely quiet.  The second Twilight flick,  New Moon, premiered.  Names spotted among those turning out for the festivities included designer Rachel Roy brought her 10 year old daughter Ava.  Rachel and husband Damon Dash also have a toddler called Tallulah Ruth.  (via Celebrity Baby Blog)  It’s interesting to see parents who embraced Ava ten years ago, when she was still on the rise, using Tallulah more recently.  Anyone else think that the once-outlandish name that had everyone abuzz when the Moore-Willis clan used it will go mainstream?  And if a search for “baby names Twilight” brought you here, check out this post: Not Just for Vampires Anymore.

In other celeb news, Tiffani Thiessen tells Extra that she and her husband aren’t considering “any freaky names.”  She doesn’t mention whether going through life as Tiffani-Amber colored her view.  We’ll have to wait and see.

On to some real life name-spotting:

• I just returned from Target.  I was buying toddler tights while another mom was trying to persuade her daughter to try on a coat, but the daughter?  Was fleeing to the just-steps-away toy department.  The name the mother was calling?  ”Miracle!  Miracle, come back here!”  Insert your own joke about it-taking-an-act-of-God to distract a 3 y.o. from the toy department here;
• Bewildertrix has spotted Leonidas George.  My baby brother swears Leonidas will be the name of his firstborn son, should that happy event ever come to pass.  She also uncovered an Elisabetta Ivy.  And a Zuma.  (No Gwen Stefani isn’t in New Zealand – he’s Zuma Louis, a non-celeb baby brother for Ava and Remi.)
• For Real Baby Names spotted Dafne.  It may be a valid foreign variant, but to me it is like Jorja/Georgia - this one just looks better as the more familiar Daphne. 

Now for two Language Lessons from that sage font of wisdom, Nancy:

• Hard G vs. Soft G – Sometimes they’re interchangeable – as in Jorja/Georgia – but other times, swapping a J for a G leads to confusion;
• Doubling consonants – Ditto doubling a consonant.  It’s another popular way to make a name “unique,” but it can also cause confusion.

Truly unusual names are always found at Nameberry, and this week’s posts were no exception.  Check out the Lost Boys’ Names of 1880.  Why aren’t more boys named Zeb?  Or Hardy?  Others – including titles like Squire and Commodore – are best left to history.  (I work with a man in his 50s named General.  I don’t get the impression that he thinks much about his name one way or the other.)  For a change, the girls’ list is almost less interesting – maybe because I wouldn’t raise an eyebrow if I met a 2 y.o. called Mahala or Texas. 

Let’s end on a controversial note: the shortcomings of the Baby Name Wizard.  I recently noticed a post on Swistle (a big BNW adherent) that troubled me.  Just a few days earlier, Nancy recounted a similar story on her blog.  

An expectant mother, mom to Sophia, wrote to Swistle about the name Allegra.  She and her husband loved the name Allegra.  Loved the way nicknames Allie and Sophie sounded together.  But she worried about the allergy medication association.

Swistle wrote: “I love the name Allegra—and every time I want to suggest it, I back away because of the allergy medicine. I’m ANGRY at the company that stole it.”

Swistle’s poll was evenly split: 52% no to Allegra; 48% yes.  But here’s the thing: Swistle’s framing of the question – “Is the name Allegra too associated with allergy medication to be used for a baby?” made it pretty clear that she thought Allegra was beyond consideration.  (Swistle is usually so judgment-free that I was really surprised by that.)

The mom herself recently wrote in:

“We ended up naming our daughter Lucy. I love her name, but I regret not being gutsy enough to go with Allegra. Personally, I’d encourage anyone considering the name to go for it. No matter what name you choose some people will like it and others will hate it.”

Lucy is a fine name.  I like it lots.  But how sad that much naming advice often tends to push parents to the middle, rather than embracing the names that we really love. 

I suspect the allergy medication reference is fleeting.  When the blogger at For Real Baby Names spotted a Dexy Adelaide, I mentioned the 80s pop hit “Come On, Eileen” – and sent ForReal running to Google.  Dexy, it appears, no longer means “one-hit wonder responsible for lodging the phrase too-rye-aye in my brain.”  And it hasn’t been that long.  It makes me think Allegra will be free of medication association by the time Allie hits the teenage years, if not sooner.

Es mes de noviembre, entre los días 13 y 21, podremos ver una lluvia de estrellas fugaces muy especial. Se trata de las Leónidas, una lluvia de meteoritos pertenecientes al cometa Temple-Tuttle. La lluvia se debe a que este meteorito no está distribuído homogeneamente a lo largo de su órbita.

En esta impresionante lluvia se pueden llegar a apreciar hasta 15 meteoritos por hora, aunque se especula que este año podrán verse hasta 200 meteoros por hora.  Además, cada 33 años aproximadamente, suele aumentar su intensidad originando una tormenta de lluvias fugaces digna de admirar con todos los sentidos.

El día máximo de intensidad fue el 17 de noviembre, pero no debemos preocuparnos porque en Europa occidental, al ocurrir en horario de tarde, ha sido prácticamente inapreciable. Esperemos que las pocas noches que quedan de esta lluvia sean más fructíferas.

Para que podamos hacernos una idea de cómo se produce una lluvia de Leónidas, aquí os dejo este video. Es muy breve e ilustrativo, y con él podemos entender fácilmente como el significado de este hermoso fenómeno.

Eu azi nu am putut rezista tentatiei si mi-am cumparat, iar vanzatoarea m-a anuntat foarte amabila si constienta de valoarea ei, fiind in singura cofetarie din tara care o detine, ca inghetata se afla acolo de trei saptamani. Aroma inghetatei, cookie dough, era vanilie cu bucati de ciocolata si prajitura, iar gustul, regret, dar nu gasesc cuvinte sa-l descriu. Pot doar sa-mi intaresc pozitia intre miile de fani Ben&Jerry’s.

Lluvia de estrellas Leonidas, el mejor día para su observación es el 18 de noviembre en la madrugada con 120-500 meteoritos por hora. Según el El astrónomo Juan Antonio Juárez Jiménez, del planetario “Luis Enrique Erro” del politécnico la mejor hora para verlas es de 3:00 a 5:00 am.

Esta es la más importante del año e interesante de observar.

The radio show I was listening to this morning brought up James 1:19 as the Thought of the Day:

“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God requires.”

Carlos, one of the personalities, said it reminded him of something St. Francis of Assisi said,

“Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.”

Yes, it was a rotten weekend. What I need to remember is no one is nasty for the sake of being nasty. I have to remember there must be some reason she’s being crazy at any given moment. My job is to help her heal and become healthy and strong – not react like the rest of the world. My job is mercy and compassion. I have to address the problem, not the symptom. When I want to use words it is usually because I want to be right or win the argument. When I want to love and serve her, I do something instead.

“Preach the Gospel” is synonymous with “love like Jesus.” In most cases, that requires action while keeping one’s mouth shut. Especially in marriage.

My excuse for using words is that often I am fighting under a hail of slings, arrows, and fiery darts so massive it blocks out the sun. The only words I should speak in that cases are to myself, “Then I shall fight in the shade.”

Los amantes de la astronomía tienen esta madrugada la mejor oportunidad de observar las Leónidas, una famosa lluvia de meteoros que cada año es visible por estas fechas cuando la Tierra atraviesa la cola de desechos del cometa Temple-Tuttle. El fenómeno no es tan espectacular como el de las Perseidas, pero España será uno de los lugares en los que, al menos, se podrá contemplar parte del «show», según la Asociación de Astrónomos Aficionados de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Los interesados en echar un vistazo al cielo (esta noche es el momento más recomendable, aunque mañana también se repetirá la sesión) deberán alejarse de las luces de las ciudades y buscar un buen lugar de observación donde las estrellas aparezcan con claridad. Tampoco está de más cruzar los dedos en espera de que el tiempo acompañe.
¿Habrá mucho que ver? No merece la pena tener grandes expectativas y sí un espíritu paciente de cazador, porque, al contrario de otros años en los que estas estrellas fugaces hicieron las delicias de astronómos y curiosos, en esta ocasión se van a hacer desear: los expertos esperan de quince a veinte meteoros por hora, una cifra que contrasta con los ochenta o cien de las Perseidas de agosto o los 120 de las Gemínidas que llegarán en diciembre. En otras zonas del Planeta, más afortunadas, la tasa de fogonazos podría superar el centenar, según las previsiones más optimistas de algunos astrónomos.

Las Leónidas se caracterizan por ser muy veloces (sobrevuelan el firmamento a una velocidad de 71 kilómetros por segundo, más de 50.000 por hora) y, generalmente, dejan una bonita estela. En realidad se trata de una lluvia de desechos sobrantes del Temple-Tuttle. Cuando la órbita del cometa alcanza el punto más cercano al Sol, llamado perihelio, arroja una gran cantidad de material. Si la Tierra pasa en ese momento por la cola de desperdicios, la lluvia es monumental. Es lo que ocurrió durante los años siguientes a 1998 . Así, 2000 y 2002 fueron años de «grandes tormentas». En estos momentos, sin embargo, se viven «los últimos coletazos» de ese fenómeno, con lo que el material visible es más disperso.
Si se anima a pedir un deseo esta noche, desde la revista StarDate recomiendan alejarse de las luces de la ciudad y buscar sitios oscuros como punto de observación. Recuéstese sobre una manta o un sillón reclinable para obtener una vista del cielo completo. Si puede ver todas las estrellas de la Osa Menor, está en el lugar adecuado. A partir de ahí ya es cuestión de buena suerte.

Kloningan tersebut berhasil, hanya saja hasilnya menjijikkan XD. kemudian ia dibuang, untung saja ia berhasil di pungut oleh Zordon dan akhirnya ia dan kloningannya berhasil menjadi sang penyelamat Bumi !

Setelah bertahun – tahun menjadi Sparta Rangers, ia akhirnya pensiun dan mencalonkan diri menjadi presiden O_O’

Ocorreu ontem no México, a apresentação da cerveja que homenageia o maior ídolo argentino de todos os tempos. A empresa Cerveceria Revolucion anunciou seu novo produto, a cerveja “Maradó 10″.

A companhia possui em seu portfolio outras cervejas como a Che Guevara, Zapata e a Maquiavelo – Por que el fin justifica los medios/ Creamos una bebida de principes.

O produto ainda não foi lançado oficialmente, mas cerca de 200 caixas da cerveja foram distribuídas no Festival da Cerveja de Guadalajara nesse último fim de semana. A marca ainda aguarda a autorização do próprio pibe para empezar la produccion.

A cervejaria mexicana possui um forte trabalho social, buscando o desenvolvimento do futebol em comunidades rurais do México. No entanto, disse que parte dos recursos também serão destinados para as torcidas organizadas do Chivas e do Atlas, ambos de Guadalajara.

Segundo De Alba, diretor da companhia, essa prática é para gerar identificação dos torcedores com o produto – para que eles considerem a cerveja como propriedade deles também.

Certamente é uma atitude perigosa envolver uma marca com torcidas organizadas. São grupos muito instáveis e bem próximos de atividades ilegais, o que pode prejudicar os negócios da empresa. Mostrando mais uma vez que, ao se misturar esporte e negócios, os termos devem ser muito cautelosamente estudados.

Maradona não é o primeiro jogador a ser homenageado com algum produto. Na década de 1930, Leônidas da Silva teve seu apelido transformado em chocolate pela empresa Lacta, dando origem ao “Diamante Negro”.

Até Dunga já teve seu nome em um produto. No final dos anos 80, a empresa Motorádio produzia um rádio-portátil que levava seu nome.

Okay, so I had a pretty weird dream last night involving my apparently huge mansion in Ibiza (I’ve never even been there before, for the record, in my dream it was a tropical island that was controlled by the Spartans from 300), my cousin Gavin and a certain British TV personality.

To keep it short, I was sitting in my mansion just minding my own business and chatting with King Leonidas via MSN when my Dad appears and tells me I’ve been invited to a party and could I please bring my cousin Gavin. Who was I to turn down a party (with an open bar apparently), so I teleported, as you do, to my cousins house and teleported the both of us to the bar where the party was being held. It seemed to be a party of all the people that have ever been in my life; I think I even saw old primary school teachers, or at least the version that  my imagination remembers… Anyway, I’m standing at the bar, waiting for my free beer, and somebody pushes me over. I get up, rather pissed off and ready to knock seven bells of sense out of whoever did it, and this is what I saw:

That’s right, Jeremy motherfucking Kyle pushed me over, and stared EXACTLY like that when I got back up. I didn’t have the courage to even look him in the eye. It felt completely justified that he had pushed me over for no reason, and I had no moral right to protest! He didn’t say anything, and just sort of moved off into the crowd.

Now for the dead cousin bit. I was trying frantically to find my cousin, who I really wanted to tell about the Jeremy Kyle thing, but I couldn’t find him anywhere. When I started asking around a random barmaid told me she had seen him throw himself off the roof, and just as I went to look for him there was a raid on the bar; not by the police, but by strippers. Somebody actually shouted “STRIPPER RAID” and we all ran for it. As we ran out of the bar I spotted my cousins body and decided that taking him with me was the only decent thing to do, so I folded him up and PUT HIM IN MY POCKET. That’s right. The rest of the dream degenerated into a fight against some army people for obscure reasons so I’ll not go into detail about it.

Hopefully my dream tonight will be like this:

Funtimes, it’s definitely the funniest dream I’ve had in a while! Only one more sleep until Sophie gets here :] I has a happyface!

While Saturday Night Live has been flailing as of late (Can’t we just rewind the tape a few years to the much more hilarious times?), the show has been producing some queer content, especially when it comes to Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

This past Saturday, Oct. 17, the show parodied 300 and DADT in a brilliant sketch that highlighted the flaws of the policy and the failure of the Obama administration to remove the ridiculous policy.

King Leonidas declares that the time just isn’t right to rescind the Spartan army’s DADT policy, to which a soldier replies, “It’s never the right time, Leonidas.” Throughout the sketch it becomes painfully obvious that all of the soldiers are gay – albeit a stereotypical portrayal of gay men – and in the end Leonidas reveals that he has partaken in a homosexual act or two. And every single argument Leonidas uses for DADT – the economy, a war, public opinion – is easily dismantled by his troops.

Of course, DADT is abolished and all is still well for Sparta. Hint, hint, Obama.

History vs. 300

When you watch the movie 300, the first impression you may get is, “This can’t be what really happened?”

Based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 does not really depict the accuracies that history intends to have.  However, there are the names and battles that really did happen. However, the way the movie portrays them are off.

Let’s start with what we can clearly find in our history books. The main character of the movie, King Leonidas, really did lead 300 Spartan warriors against the Persian Empire, and not alone. Aided by other Greek city-states, the 300 Spartans totaled to about 6,500 all together.

What we also know is the Persian king, Xerxes. Though in the movie, Xerxes is portrayed as a giant of a man. From ancient carvings and readings, the portrayal of the Persian king in the movie is not accurate at all.

Other characters of the movie were also factual people. The Persian Immortals were shown in the movie as ugly-masked beasts who could barely understand normal human emotion. The Spartan traitor, Ephialtes, did show the Persians a passage way to get to the Spartans as the movie had shown and also, the description of the days of battle was correct.

So, after review, this movie did have some facts correct with names and battles, but putting King Leonidas as the main character presented some issues because there is not enough background on the real person. The movie and novel had to create a false story for him so the movie could be interesting.

When you watch 300, if you are planning on getting an in-depth, fact-base story, you will be sorry.

In this one, History wins.

Encontramos o primo do Epá e toda a família. De lá fomos para o restaurante Kutsi, que fica sob um plátano gigante. Vou mostrar a foto de todo mundo depois.

Essa árvore do meio é a que estende sua copa sobre todo o restaurante. Apesar do sol, sob a árvore é tão fresquinho que chega a fazer frio quando bate uma brisa mais forte.

Pelo fato de ser uma encosta, creio que o ar está sempre em movimento ali, e ainda há um pequeno curso de água que foi surrupiado pelos donos do restaurante:

Essa água é uma delícia, e é tão gelada que até me doeram os dentes. Não, não é água de degelo, pq em Samos não há montanhas com picos gelados (o que não exclui a existência  de outras coisas com suas regiões geladas). Quando eu contar o passeio ao Pitagório vcs vão ver que coisas geladas abundam em Samos.

Almoçamos polvo e carne de porco. A comida estava ótima. Ficamos 2 horas lá. De novo eles conversaram sobre o Bóson de Higgs e sobre a conferência de Bretton Woods. Ou seja, não entendi nádegas. O fato de terem usado o grego como língua também contribuiu para isso.

Vamos lá, da esquerda para a direita, no sentido horário de relógio de ponteiros:

Epá, Anakreon, Irmã do Anakreon e mãe do Leonidas, que é o seguinte, a esposa dele com a filha (qual o nome delas mesmo?) e a irmã dela.

Esse Leonidas é primo do Epá. A mãe dele é essa da ponta da mesa, que é irmã do Anakreon (salvo engano). Ele casou com uma finlandesa e mora na Suécia, ou casou com uma Sueca e mora na Finlândia, vc escolhe.

A filha deles precisava ser batizada, e ele chamou o Epá para ser o padrinho. Preferiram fazer tudo em Samos pq é a ilha de toda a família, apesar de todos estarem morando em Atenas atualmente (exceto o casal, que mora na Noruega, como eu já havia dito).

Esse almoço foi mais para ser apenas um encontro mesmo, pois o batizado seria apenas no dia seguinte. Eles chegaram da casa deles na Dinamarca no dia anterior, então estavam meio cansados. Eles voltaram para casa (em Samos, não a da Suíça) para descansarem, pois o batizado seria no dia seguinte.

Como eu já disse, as moças são Tchecas. Falam tão bem o grego quanto eu. No inglês até conseguimos uma conversa razoável. Discutimos sobre o protocolo de Kyoto e sobre o mal de Minamata, até sermos interrompidos por fezes.

I am awful at making predictions. But I am almost certain that the only prediction that I make in this blog will come to fruition. Barack Obama will certainly win a second term of office as President of the USA come 2012.

Hello friends ,

Well I am a newbie to Linux distro , just moved  to it about 6 months ago .

I was using ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid) but i found myself in trouble while changing the theme and I got stuck. Then my friend Neeraj has suggested me to try fedora 11  live CD . I never used live cd of fedora before  so i was little  bit worried . But then i take a little bit risk and installed Fedora 11 in my machine .

Surprisingly it took only 10 minutes to install and now my system is working better . Fedora 11 has many new features that were not present in Fedora 10 like – ext4 file system , 20 seconds start up time (Ubuntu 9.04 claims 19.4 sec boot up time), automatic fonts and mime installer , firefox 3.5 , gcc 4.4 , gnome 2.26 , python 2.6 and many more . Some of aforementioned changes may not be in live CD , but you can install it if you have internet connection . Here is the screen shot of my desktop –>
