Dragonette have busy since they graced our shores last September for Parklife. Since then, they have relased their debut album Galore, toured all over the world, released a song for Jean Paul Gaultier and almost finished their second album. Yes, they teamed up with French DJ, Martin Solvieg to make “Boys & Girls” to be used for the Jean Paul Galtier campaign and have alomost finished another full length. The second album Fixin’ To Thrill will be available in Canada September 29th,  Australia on October 3rd and the rest of the world on October 6th digitally or October 20th physically.

D.I.M (Boys Noize Records) up next!

A few people have asked about how the Les Petits Pilous flyer was made, so heres a quick run through.

As always, we start by coming up with a concept. Colour and details arent important at this stage. We put down a sketch and get started.

So next step is to lay out the lettering, we take a lot of care as this is the base we will be working from.

We colour the lettering consitantly, the first thoughts about light and shading need to be adressed here, so we add a slight gradient to each letter.

We carefully draw in the shapes around each letter to acheive the 3d effect, measuring depth consistency all the time.

We align all the shapes and make any necessary adjustments to the letter positioning.

Now we brush in all the shadows by hand. This can be done many ways, we prefer to use a very low opacity brush in Photoshop with the multiply blend mode. Thinking about light direction is important here.

We do the same thing for the highlights, this time using the screen blend mode. Once this is done we add the cast shadows which really brings the text to life. We add some colour adjustments to make the text pop.

For the rollercoaster, we start by drawing out the track forms.

Next we add the track boards. To do this we draw a board in illustrator and warp, scale and sheer it to fit the contours of the track.

We start adding some background elements, in this case some stars to give the piece more atmosphere. We add shading to the track to give it more depth.

Now we add some of the foreground elements. The track which we blur and fade out and the shape of the cart.

We draw the characters separately in Illustrator and place them in the cart.

We add shading to the cart and incude the boize noize sign in the background.

Finally we add some glow to the background and a load of custom colour adjustments. (gradient maps, curves, colour balances etc)

Over the past year it has played home to many of our events, but we have been told that Poxx Bar will be closing its doors and worst of all, we won’t be given a chance to say goodbye. We were scheduled to host the Les Petits Pilous Pre-Party at Poxx Bar on 26 June 2009, but we received a phone call last week saying that we have to relocate venue due the sudden shutdown of the club. We do not know the reasons behind this, but we will let you know what is happening when we have some information.

So it is time to bid goodbye to the venue that hosted some of our most memorable parties. We are very proud that just 2 weeks ago, along with TDDR, we brought the house down with Part I of the ‘Beat that Shakes the Mothership Tour’ which, in actual fact, was the last time we bounced (or plonked as the Mathy Boys would say) in the venue many of us would call home.

Today c’est Saturday! Donc ce soir direction Fabric! LA boite de nuit où y faut aller à Londres. Au niveau des DJ le club suit la hype, ce soir Sasha et Guy Gerber, la semaine derniére Joakim, les Petits Pilous. Fabric a aussi des DJ résidents trés bons comme Craig Richards (lui il est à toutes les soirées vous pouvez pas le rater).
La boite en elle même, est juste énorme, jamais vu un truc aussi grand 3 étages, et le basement est un labyrinthe un truc géant, ou se mélange les atmosphere, le club ferme à 9heures donc y’a pas mal de lit pour faire une petite pause pratique. L’atmosphere est vraiment bonne, le prix relativement bas de l’alcool aidant, la non selection à l’entrée aussi. Prenez votre T Shirt, vos converses et £20 (entrée et deux boissons) et vous irez dans ce qui est pour meilleur soirée Londonienne le samedi soir pour cette gamme de prix. Vous pouvez boire avant vous rentrerez sans difficultés.

Ich chill mich hier grad im Zimmer von meinem Bruder hin, der guckt sich zusammen mit seinem Freund so ein Video an. Schulvideo. Fußball-Turnier 6. Klasse. Und ich dachte “Mitten im Leben” wär das Beste. Aber das toppt das echt nochmal. Vorallem die Kommentare der beiden: “Guck ma wie er da liegt! Ischör!” und noch viele andere. Und ich hab echt gelacht bei der besten Szene, wenn man den Beiden glauben kann: Da kommt also ein Junge rein, der wohl nicht so der Profi-Fußballer ist, und stellt sich an die Mittellinie. So, die Mannschaft von meinem Bruder, also auch von ihm, hat Anstoss. Es wird angeschossen, der Junge sprintet los und…Abpfiff. Kassiert. Das Video erklärt wie er sich fühlen musste:

Wisst ihr eigentlich was mich aufregt? Das mein iPod Anschluss im Auto nicht mehr geht! Ich muss wieder anfangen CD’s zu benutzen. Wisst ihr noch was das ist?

Im Zeitalter der Mp3’s und Mp4’s weiß man ja nie. Aufjedenfall passen da 17 Tracks rauf, also auf eine 700mb CD. Voll nervtötend, auf meinen iPod passen 30gb rauf. Naja, ich bin grad am erstellen. Ich denke viele Titel werden von den “Les Petits Pilous” drauf sein. Ihr wisst ja wer das ist, wenn ihr den Blog hier ab und zu lest. Falls nicht, hier ein gutes Video, nochmal:

Achja noch eine Empfehlung nebenbei. Besucht den Blog von meinem, ich sag es jetzt mal weil wir beide Blogger sind, Kollegen Donni, wenn es um Musik, speziell Rap, geht, hat er die Nase vorne. Auch Elektro kommt nicht zu kurz und Sonntags UNBEDINGT die Kolumne von Alibi lesen. Sehr sehr lustig und empfehlenswert. Show him some luv.

We just put together a little promo clip for Squadron to promote ‘A night with’ Les Petits Pilous in June. Inspired by some familiar boyz noize classics. **PLEASE NOTE THIS CLIP HAS SOME FLASHING IMAGES**

Wieder ein Tag an dem ich eigentlich glücklich bin und gut drauf, aber durch Umstände von mehreren Freunden / Freundinnen einfach nicht so drauf sein kann wie ich will. Näher darauf eingehen möchte ich hier nicht, es sei nur soviel gesagt: Ich fühle mit wenn es meinen Freunden schlecht geht. Trauer.

Nachher wie immer eigentlich arbeiten…mittlerweile seit gut 2 Monaten dabei und eigentlich bisher recht gut gefahren, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes, denn schließlich tue ich auch nichts anderes als Fahren. Nämlich Medikamente ausfahren. BMW hat leider auch abgesagt: “Es ist nichts persönliches, sie waren wirklich sehr gut und haben einen guten Eindruck gemacht, bleiben sie so, dann gehen sie schon ihren Weg. Es war eben jemand besser als Sie.”, kaufen kann ich mir davon aber auch nichts. Hoffentlich meldet sich Mercedes nochmal und sagt mir das ich doch September da anfangen kann, ansonsten wird es wohl bei Opel bleiben, nicht schlecht aber die anderen wären eben besser.

Wieso heißt der Eintrag so? Gute Frage. Das Mixtape von der Royal Family heißt so, ist übrigens sehr gut, mehr dazu hier: Royal Family. Sehr guter Hamburger Rap wie ich finde, besonders Don-John & RickBo passen wirklich gut zusammen. Im Moment hör ich viel Les Petits Pilous, resultiert wahrscheinlich daraus das ich ein Video der beiden gesehen habe, welches man hier findet, und ich dies für sehr gut empfunden habe. So wurde auch mein Interesse an Paris wieder geweckt. Sehr schöne Stadt übrigens.

Ich denke ich werde mich heute Abend nochmal melden, gestern Abend spät nach Hause gekommen, mit Freundinnen gechillt, war sehr lustig. In diesem Sinne:

As if the hype wasn’t already big enough for the Crookers show this Saturday (tickets here) the fact that they just dropped another hot ass remix should make everyone even more excited for the Deadmau5/ Crookers/ The Whip/ Late of The Piere/ etc… Show.

Their newest remix of “Boom Da” by Mixhell, a husband and wife group (Iggor Cavalera and Laima Leytonthat) is destroying dance floors all over. Even without the Crookers’ magic touch, Mixhell have proven to be a pretty dynamic duo over and I think the tracklists of their mixes/0-rig production are evidence enough. Speaking of original tunes, they recently released their Boom Da EP with remixes from Les Petits Pilous, Crookers (obviously) and Edu K. aka – fire. “Boomda” is a nice bumpin’ track sure to get people dancing this coming Saturday night, tickets available here.
