For anyone out there that has ever attempted to learn how to draw a portrait you will all agree draw

For anyone out there that has ever attempted to learn how to draw a portrait you will all agree drawing faces is more than likely the part where your portrait falls apart.

Now for what ever reason be it; the lack of even taking a class on learning how to draw (yes there are folks out there that either a) have the natural talent or b) are to cheap or lazy to invest in any sort of method to learn how to draw.

It is of course a skill that anyone who has ever picked up a pencil has always wanted to do learn how to draw people.

Now some of us may have invested in lessons on how to draw but most of us still even after those lessons have not been able to conquer the difficult task of drawing faces.

I have often asked myself why is it so difficult to draw faces?

It is just 2 eyes a nose and some lips.

How hard can it be?

Well to be honest drawing 2 eyes a nose and some lips isn’t that difficult.

But to make them resemble anything that actually looks like some eyes a nose and some lips…. well that is where the challenge lies.

But why a pencil portrait?

Why not a painting, or pastels or even colored pencils?

Well more than likely pencil portraits give the artist the freedom to correct something rather simply just by erasing it rather than having to pull out another piece of canvas.

So let me see a show of hands how many people have been serious enough to pay an instructor to show you how to draw a portrait?

Now how many people after taking that course still can’t draw a portrait

that doesn’t resemble something your 7 year old child drew?

So what is it that makes portrait drawing so damn tough?

Or is it a skill that only a few can master?

Well the answer to that question is no.

Why do I say no?

Well because drawing faces, drawing portraits and just drawing in pencil all can be mastered if taught correctly.

Now if you are like me when you are learning how to draw you probably would prefer not to be surrounded by others and have an instructor breathing down your neck.

Especially when you are so prone to making mistakes when you are first learning to draw.

What I need and I am sure I can vouch for a few of you out there is a course that I can do at my own pace.

Where there is no set time to learn a new skill, and if you get busy and can’t continue then you can set it aside and start right up where you left off.

A perfect fit for anyone whose work and life schedule is constantly fluctuating.

So if you are serious about learning to draw portraits and like to learn in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace then I strongly encourage you to check out how to draw pencil portraits

Or if you prefer to keep your pencil portraits at the elementary school level then keep on doing what you are doing.
