Just stopping in quickly to share my layout this week. My first layout is doing double duty. It is for the Issue Challenge at Club CK (use a clock) as well as Let’s Get Sketchy. I loved their sketch this week! This layout was also kind of a personal challenge to myself to use up old stuff in my stash. I’m really making an effort to do this more often. I have an obscene amount of paper LOL

Supplies used: Patterned paper-unknown from stash, maybe Basic Grey? and Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby; Stickers: unknown from stash, K& Co.; Alphas: American Crafts; Washi Tape-Queen and Company; Punch: Recollections

The second layout I want to share is for Scrapfit’s Workout #74, a sketch from Diana. This was a pretty simple sketch and wanted to keep my layout that way as well.

Supplies used: Patterned paper-American Crafts; Washi Tape-K&Co; Pen-American Crafts; Punch: EK Success; Mist: Dylusions; Alphas: American Crafts

Enjoy your weekend! I will be back soon with some exciting news…..

This week I was able to knock out three…count em…THREE layouts!! Yay! All of these were done for various challenges. The thing I really love about challenges is that:

1. They encourage me to try new things
2. They help me get motivated to scrap all of these photos that are sitting on my computer
3. They’re just plain fun

I’ve met some very sweet and talented people through these challenges. Especially with Erika’s Issue Challenge at Club CK. Not only is Erika a very talented scrapper, she is one of the nicest people I’ve never met. I say that because we haven’t met in person, but have known each other online for the past 2 years. Every week she takes the time out to really analyze and critique each person’s layout that played along with the challenge. I can not imagine how much time this must take, but her positive and caring words each week mean a lot to everyone who participates. With that said, here is my layout for her challenge this week–Use Hexagons. I love hexagons. Yes, they are trendy and are everywhere in scrapbooking right now. Do I care? Nope. Still love them!!

Supplies: Patterned Paper-My Mind’s Eye, Ephemera-K&Co, Carstock-DCWV; Letters-American Crafts

My next layout is for Warm Up #30 at Scrapfit (Doodling) and also for this week’s “thought” at *Thinking Through Design*. Their thought this week was on the use of chevrons in scrapbooking. Another trend that is hot right now that I love. It’s such so bold that I feel comfortable using it in smaller doses, like I did in this layout. This is not to say that at some point I might not use more of it, especially after getting so much new product! Not only did I use the gorgeous Amy Tangerine Sketchbook papers (that I FINALLY got!), but I did a little bit of my own personal doodling. Do you see it?

Supplies: Patterned paper, stickers, letters-American Crafts, Pen-Zig, Circle Cutter-Creative Memories, Cardstock-DCWV, Punch-Fiskars

This layout is for this weeks’s sketch over at Let’s Get Sketchy. I haven’t played along with them in a while, but I loved this sketch and thought it worked well with these pics. I did another layout previously with the same pics using different papers. This one is for my youngest daughter’s book. I wanted both of them to have a page documenting this special memory. This layout features the new Everyday Eclectic collection from Echo Park. Love those papers!!

Supplies: Patterned paper, stickers, letters-Echo Park, Cardstock-DCWV, Font-Ariel, Doilies-Wilton

As I was writing this post, I realized I had also done this layout just for fun. It’s Macie’s Easter layout using an old sketch from Creating Keepsakes Fast Pages with 4 x 6 Photos (an oldie but goodie):

Whew! Sorry for the long post. I’m also working on a post for my new art journaling blog so make sure to swing by and check it out tomorrow! I’d love to see you there as well Take care, friends!!

Hi everyone! It’s been forever since I’ve had time to get scrappy. Lots going on here

Hi everyone! It’s been forever since I’ve had time to get scrappy. Lots going on here…it started with the end of the year stuff with Natalie and Macie—finishing up school, track meets, doctor appointments, camps, summer basketball league, dental appointments…you name it and I’ve done it. Sophie’s new school does not offer a summer program so she’s been at home with me all summer and that’s been interesting (ok, sort of stressful, I love her but she’s a bit of a high maintenance diva). A lot of times it’s hard to squeeze in any creative time when you are chasing 5 kids around (ok, mostly just 4 right now—even though Ashley is 20 now she’s still considered my kid )She had the privilege of going to Brazil with the Study Abroad program through Texas A&M (where she goes to school) and had some exciting experiences. We’re hoping to work on a journal together documenting her time there. If we’re lucky, maybe she will let me share some of it with you guys here Weston is crawling and so I am literally chasing him all over the place!

Anyhoo…I’ve realized that I just can’t do it all, as much as I’d like to, and so I really backed off the scrapping challenges and stuff and have been working on an art journal project that I’m hoping to submit for publication and working on my house. When we first bought this house, it was an investment property that we were going to just rehab and resell. In a funny turn of events, I actually fell in love with the place (usually not a danger in our line of work–I’m sort of picky LOL) and we decided to keep this one for ourselves and move in. Suddenly white walls and wall to wall tile were not good enough. We really rushed to move in, so I hadn’t really decorated or even finish unpacking all of the boxes even though it’s been 10 months. I’ve been redecorating the twin’s room, our master bedroom and bath, the dining room, the laundry room, and the living room. It’s been a blast turning this house into our home and I’m really happy with what I’ve done so far. I plan on sharing some pics when things are done.

Now onto my scrappy bits This first layout is for my friend Ashley Horton’s July Sketch It Out Challenge. I am a big fan of Ashley’s sketches and layouts, and was really inspired by her sketch this month. I dug into one of my past kits from Scarlet Lime for the goodies, I believe most of the paper is American Crafts. I also used some rub ons and a stitch stamp that I found and had never used, as well as a mask and mist (part of the “twist” in the challenge) I am also submitting this layout for the *thinking through design* blog’s “thought” on grounding. I used the dark color strip as a way to ground the picture of Sophie against the white background with the misting. Here I feel like the mask/mist combo also helps ground the layout in general by appearing in both corners and tying the entire layout together. Here is my layout:

This next layout is for this week’s sketch challenge over at Let’s Get Sketchy. I never do anything diagonal, so I thought it would be fun to try this one out. Here’s my layout using some Simple Stories paper that I got as a gift from Ashley Horton when Weston was born.

I hope everyone is well, and that I am able to find some more time in the next few weeks to share some more of my projects. I’ve missed all of my wonderful scrappy friends!

Hi everyone! Well, after a scrapping drought I think I finally have been able to get back into scrapping mode over the past weekend. With all of the stress going on with all of the kids, it really is relaxing for me to have time to let myself be creative (even with Weston pooping and eating every hour–or so it seems, and Sophie crawling all over the back of my chair and cutting up scraps of paper and “reorganizing” my brad stash under my feet). So…this post you will be seeing a lot of pics of the kids for spring. Every year my father in law hosts a big Easter party at their ranch and it’s the perfect setting to take spring pics of the kids. This first layout is of all of my “ducks” and it was done based off of a sketch by my friend and talented scrapper, Ashley Horton. She is hosting a Sketch It Out challenge at Club CK every month.

Next up is a layout I did using a sketch from Creative Scrappers. I was going to link it up, but I’m not totally thrilled with how it came out. I may re-work this one later one.

The next layout was done for two challenges. One is for ScrapFit Workout #66, which is to use the color combination of cherry, mint, and sand. I really love how this layout turned out. I also used the sketch this week from Let’s Get Sketchy. I’ve played along a couple of times with them and I really loved this sketch.

OK, last up for this ridiculously long post (sorry), is my layout using a sketch by Diana for her Blogiversary. I had the privilege of designing with Diana at Sketchy Thursdays before they shut down earlier this year. Every now and then she is still putting sketches out there and of course I couldn’t resist.

Well that’s it for layouts for today Stay tuned though, I have a few (I think) awesome layouts I’ve done for Frosted Designs that will be coming up in the next few weeks, as well as my card I submitted for Frosted Designs and the Mother’s Day Blog Hop the first weekend of May. Enjoy your day!!!

This has been a challenging week in more ways than one, but I was able to squeeze in a couple of layouts by working a little bit at a time. The first one is for the new sketch site Let’s Get Sketchy. I used my new Authentique Genuine paper pack to show off Weston and Opa hanging out at Chuck E. Cheese.

The next layout is for Erika’s Issue Challenge over at Club CK. The challenge was to scrap a special friendship. Sophie and Shelby have been best friends since they first met 2 years ago at Mother’s Day Out. I got a lot of the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection in my February Scarlet Lime kit so I used that on this layout.

The last page I did is for Ashley’s Sketch it Out Challenge at Club CK. We had to use her sketch, and as an added twist we had to use chevron, woodgrain, or hexagons. I used chevron and woodgrain. This page documents Weston’s first smile

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!! TGIF!!
