După o lungă perioadă în care am schimbat la telefoane, am ajuns la concluzia: „ telefoanele de ultimă generaţie sunt de rahat ”. Poate că o să întrebaţi de ce? păi, vă dau şi motivul. Acum 3 luni, mi-am achiziţionat dintr-un magazin oficial Vodafone un telefon numit 5310 Express Music. Aparent este încântător, atât prin design cât şi configuraţii. L-am lăsat la formatat cât scrie în program, iar a 5-ea zi am descoperit că bateria nu ţine nici mai mult nici mai puţin de două zile. Acum, telefonul stă abandonat pe un raft, praful „ e de un metru ” pe el, nu are nici o problemă, dar pe mine nu mă încântă.

       Momentan, posed un Nokia 1600, telefon vechi, demodat, ce naiba. Însă mi se pare cel mai bun din toate telefoanele pe care le-am avut ( 3100, 5310, lg shine, samsung d500 ). Le am pe toate, însă nici unu nu o duce bine cu bateria. Bateria la telefonul acesta ţine până la 7 zile, adică îl încarc o dată pe săptămână. Sunt mulţumit de el, chit că nu are cameră, mp3 player şi nimic altceva din toate „ minunile ” de pe alte telefoane.

Bueno es simple y rapido.
1) Introducimos la Sim de la empresa en que esta el LG.
2) Lo prendemos y introducimos este codigo: 2945#*9701# (no recuerdo bien si hay que apretar SEND). Se abre un menu oculto
3) Ahora nos pide el PIN, introducimos el PIN (OJO NO EQUIVOCARSE!)
4) si el codigo pin es 1234 ó 0000 no funciona.
5) si les tira error les va a mostrar un mesaje como que se bloqueo la sim, no se asusten reinicien el tel y andara normalmente.

Lets switch gears to the topic of JOBS.

After watching all my friends graduate from Stony, leaving me behind, I’ve struggled to adjust to this moment of nothingness. I’ve been sleeping like a newborn, taking naps in between meals and bathroom breaks and computering. While surfing the net, I browsed the good-old Craige’s list. I found and applied to four medical assistant jobs. It’s just a matter of time until my phone will ring, or my gmail notifier will sound, with good news!

Was looking through my pictures files, and I ran into this picture which my friend Mikah took a picture of when I didn’t even know her. She had to borrow my phone for our photography class.

Talking about phones, I got a new phone LG Shine and I love it! Everyone who has AT&T and is eligible for a 2 year contract extension, get the LG Shine (Refurbished) for free!

As I grabbed my phone this morning on the way out to work, I thought back on all the cell phones I’ve went through since last summer.

6/24/08 – Signed with Verizon and chose the LG Chocolate 2.

7/7/08 – Didn’t appreciate how difficult Verizon made it to put ringtones on my phone, so I switched to AT&T and chose the LG Shine.

8/5/08 – AT&T’s coverage was dismal, so switched back to Verizon and bought the LG Dare.

8/9/08 – The Dare made a ticking sound during phone calls, so I returned it for the LG Chocolate 3.

12/5/08 – Although I loved the Chocolate 3, I missed having a virtual keyboard for texting. I purchased a Dare outright on eBay and decided to keep the Choc as a backup phone (a very good idea in hindsight).

2/19/09 – I blew out the ear speaker while trying to clean dust out of it. Since it was still under the manufacturer’s warranty, Verizon replaced it with a refurb.

4/13/09 – I decided to activate the internet on the Dare, which caused it to stop working. I literally had to remove the battery to shut the phone down and then it refused to reboot. I called Verizon and they mailed me a replacement – my fourth Dare.

Anyone here think my latest Dare is going to make it until my contract is up in 2010? Yeah, right…

My friend was thinking about buying a LG Shine  KE970 mobile phone. Admittedly. its not the most recent of mobile phones when it comes to features etc, but its fair to say that its a pretty cool looking gadget. The front panel doubles up as a mirror, so this really is the perfect ladies’ phone. If you’re a guy, i can’t think of one LG model that has manly attributes. The LG chocolate was another female-friendly phone, but the LG Shine didn’t want to just be a girls’ phone. It wanted to be for every stylish male and female there was. Not sure if it made friends with everyone in the end, but i think there are still a few fans out there. My friend likes the look of it, so that cant be a bad thing!

So, if you like phones to look great more than “do” great, the LG Shine is a pretty good choice. Plus, its been out for a while now so you should be able to get some good deals on it.

I need a new phone.

Well, I guess I don’t really need one, but the amount of want the I’m creating could be considered as a need.

I’ve got a black LG Shine. I got my phone in October, and it’s living under my expectations. There’s nothing you can do on it. All the games are demos. =( I wish the world would realize phone are not just for communicating, they’re for showing them off!!! My parents got me a phone for “communicating” or something. This was not what I expected when I found out I could get a phone. S

Some people are probably like, “oh suck it up at least you have a phone.”

Here’s my theory for allowing greediness: If people are greedy, more people can be generous.     =) See?

Every so often I enjoy writing a rant.  It is a good way to take out some anger against some person,  thing, or circumstance.  Back in the fall I wrote a rant about fire ants but I never posted it.  When I’m feeling angry about them later, I will.  The fire ants will never read it, so it doesn’t help anyone but me.  Today the object of my ire is my wireless phone.  The LG CU720.  This rant may be slightly tongue in cheek, but the complaints are all very real.

Dear LG Shine,

I cannot wait until my contract with you is finished.

I chose you as my current phone because my previous phone, a Sony Erickson,  quit working after 3 years of use.  I was drawn in by the allure  of your shininess.  And you are very shiny. That shine is diminished significantly by a phenomenon that is not your fault, smudges  I should have known that any polished silver phone with a flat glass front would be easy to smudge with fingerprints and face grease, but I guess I was too impressed by the look and your slick sliding format.

I know what you are thinking, CU720, I could greatly reduce the amount of  smudges if I would just use your built in bluetooth and pair it with a headset.  Good thinking, I wish I had thought of that myself.  Oh, I did.  Your bluetooth doesn’t work at all.  Maybe once every 75 tries you will pair with a device, but you are too finicky to be useful and I just gave away my headset so that someone would get some use out of it.  Thanks for helping me throw away that $50.

Your lack of bluetooth is made into an even more awesome feature because your speakerphone functionality is so excruciating.  So loud and warped is the sound, that I can hardly understand anybody, and you have such a weak microphone that everyone asks me to repeat everything when you get more than a foot from my mouth.

At least once a day, you turn off when I slide you open.  Do you know how frustrating it is to race to the phone and open it up just in time to find out nobody is there because the phone shut down?  It doesn’t matter if I open you gently or with force, it’s the same thing.  Regularly you just decide that I apparently don’t need to talk to the caller at this time.  Maybe you just need a rest.

Another feature I particularly enjoy is the way your battery goes from fully charged to empty with no warning whatsoever.  I’m sure something like this is going on in your little phone mind.  “What?  I know you just charged me last night, but I’m jonesing for some more of that sweet, sweet electricity.  Come on, if you don’t plug me up right now, I will bleep at you every 15 seconds until the battery is fully discharged even quicker.  I know I said I had a full battery just 10 minutes ago, but I NEED that electricity.”  Unfortunately I have no choice but to indulge your addiction.

Any time I’m in a different part of the country the internet is hit and miss.  I suspect this is actually AT&Ts fault, but when you say you are on 3G, I should at least be able to check my gmail.

Finally, your camera is an utter piece of garbage.  Just thought your should know.

LG Shine Fixed

My phone is back from the LG service center is no longer cracked like an egg.  It is fixed.  Now, I am too scared to used my talking make-up mirror…I mean phone.  I do believe the phone is way too fragile for me and my lifestyle.  The LG Shine is one of those phones for the cute sorority girls who carry their phone in a big handbag.  I am going to only use the LG when I know I want to take some 2.0 megapixel pictures to send to my husband on the road.   I will continue to use my husband’s 3 year-old Moto.  That Moto is tough.  I could put wheels on that puppy and call it a skateboard.

Thanks LG for the fast and prompt service.  At least you did not hassle me.  Your customer service department was courteous and fast.  Kudos to the LG service center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Kelebihan :

1. Bentuknya sangat tipis. Casingnya terbuat dari metal. Untuk yang menyukai ponsel fesyen sangat cocok sekali. Karena terlihat elegan.

Seperti : resolusi yang ditawarkan 320×240 / 640×480 / 1280×960 / 1600×1200, pilihan kualitas normal / halus / superhalus, sudah dilengkapi flash, timer otomatis maksimal 10detik, pilihan penyimpanan di memory eksternal atau handphone, multi bidikan maksimal 6 bidikan (jadi sekali potret bisa langsung untuk enam objek), ada 3 pilihan efek warna sepia / mono / negative, untuk kesesuaian cahaya ada 6 pilhan auto/siang hari/lampu pijar/berawan/mode malam,
7. Untuk pemutar mp3 pada pengaturan equalizer sangat lengkap. Ada 10 pilhan jenis irama.

Sekarang biar adil saya harus menunjukkan kekurangannya.

Kekurangan :

1. Gampang panas. Karena bentuknya yang slimz abizzzzz dan casing terbuat dari metal, untuk penggunaan yang lama menyebabkan panas.
2. Kualitas alunan musik yang keluar melalui speakernya, bisa dikatan kurang maksimal. Jira volume suara dimaksimalkan akan terdengar pecah. Hal ini dikarena hanya ada 1 speaker saja. Satu speaker digunkan untuk 2 keperluan yaitu untuk telpon dan juga untuk mendengarkan musik. Sehingga suara yang dihasilkan kurang  maksimal. Kecuali mendengarkan musik menggunakan headset bawaanya. Suara yang terdengar cukup bagus. semua fiter equalizer dapat berfungsi dengan baik.
3. Tidak ada tema. LG KE 770 Shine tidak memiliki tema. Hanya dapat menampilkan wallpaper saja. Sangat disayangkan, dengan layar yang jernih  tidak bisa ganti tema.
4. Keypad terlalu dempet. Bagi anda yang memiliki jari besar akan sangat kesulitan jika menggunkan keypad LG KE 770 Shine. Karena hurufnya terlalu berdekatan.
5. Ringtone untuk nada sms hanya ada 4 pilihan. Itupun dari standar handphone. Tidak bisa menggunakan ringtone tambahan.
6. Membutuhkan waktu yang sedikit lama pada saat booting. Pada saat ponsel dalam keadaan mati dan kemudian kita menghidupkannya, maka untuk masuk ke menu utama membutuhkan waktu loading yang cukup lama.
7. Untuk membuka album foto yang sudah ada, waktu yang diperlukan sedikit lam.
8. Memory card gampang error. Entah kenapa memory card mudah hang. Kadang sewaktu akan memutar file video, tiba-tiba ponsel akan resart dengan sendirinya.
9. Setelah pemakain beberapa lama, mulailah timbul error pada kamera. Pada mode kamera akan muncul garis-garis.

Mungkin itu hal-hal yang saya ketahui mengenai LG KE 770 Shine. Sejauh ini saya cukup puas dengan ponel ini. Sekarang terserah anda begaimana menilai ponsel ini.

I went out over the weekend with a guy that I met at the airport while trying to pull my suitcase off of the carousel. I was on the phone, holding my purse and carry-on bag while grabbing at my bag. He came up behind me and pulled the bag off the ramp. I turned and thanked him and then proceeded to head to the exit. He stopped me and at first I was a little annoyed, but he told me this really funny knock knock joke that caused me to laugh. Once you got me laughing you are so in. We talked while we both waited for our rides and since no one ever picks me or him up on time we were able to have a nice conversation. Turns out we went to rival highschools and have a lot of mutual friends. We have been at the same parties, but never met. Strange, but as I grow older the world seems to get smaller every day.

We exchanged numbers, but I didn’t really expect to hear from him, unless he was having a co-ed function or a birthday party. I was a little surprised when he called the next day, but I like a man who knows what he likes and goes after it. We either have a lot in common or we both just like to run our mouths because we talked for over four hours. I got off the phone because my ears were being singed by my hot cell phone (by the way I hate my new LG Shine) otherwise we probably would have kept on talking. We agreed to meet for a glass of wine or two at the Grape the next day.

I arrived at the Grape about twenty minutes late so he was already seated at the bar. The place was pretty crowded so we decided to stay put instead of getting a table. While we were sitting there the cell phone of the party sitting to the left of us started ringing and it was playing the song “I kissed a girl” by that Katie girl. They didn’t answer it so the song continued to play and I started bopping my head to the beat and sang along. This must have piqued his curiosities cause he asked “Do you like that song?”

“Yeah kind of.”

“Have you ever kissed a girl?”

“No, I have not.”

“You never tried it when you were in school? Don’t lie to me I won’t judge you.”

“No, just because I went to a girl’s school did not make me want to experiment.” I believe some men think if you go to a same sex school the probability of freakiness and lesbianism increases.

“So are you saying you would never kiss another woman? Are you open minded?”

“I am open minded, but I am not kissing another woman.” I also think that guys often confuse what being open minded really is. I can be spontaneous and go on vacation with a day’s notice (some believe you should never do anything without advance notice especially a trip because it means you were not the first choice) or agree to do something like sky diving which I have never done. I am willing to try a new type of food, hang out in a new neighborhood, use a new mascara, entertain new opinions, wear a new trend or color, take a different route to the city, try a new drink and maybe even answer questions that I feel are inappropriate or make me feel uncomfortable. Those are the acts of an open minded person.

“Just like you dig that song you might like kissing a girl, but how would you know unless you try it.” He said this with all seriousness.

I am not happy about the direction this conversation is going. I am a confessed prude, but I like that song. It’s catchy and cute, but I have no desire to kiss a girl. Women are beautiful and I have a girl crush, but I do not want to do anything with another woman. I like men and only want to kiss them. I am not gay or bisexual and do not want or need to experiment with my sexuality. It is not something I need to try so that I can rule it out, I know what I like and don’t like.

“I am not attracted to women like that and why are you so concerned?”

“I just want to see if you are open to a little ménage.”

After he said this I have a very alarmed look on my face.

“Relax, I just want to know if you are mature and don’t think kissing a girl makes you a lesbian. I want a girl who is open to trying things if she knows her man likes it.”

“You can stop right there. We have established right now that I am not the girl for you.” Again confusion, poor thing. A woman can be kinky, raunchy and nasty with her man without introducing another woman. This man is going around thinking girls who like or would try kissing a girl are open minded. These girls may not be open minded at all, they just like kissing girls, plus it really is not a measure of anything other than they have some lesbian tendencies. Oh and she might leave his behind for another woman.

“Now hold up you don’t need to jump to that conclusion. I might be able to convince you otherwise, I may be the one to bring the freak out.” He starts smiling and rubbing my hand. I remove my hand and pick up my wine glass. For all his education and charm he has lost me. First I think I opened myself up to it, I was the one who brought attention to the song. Second why did I let him draw me in I should have just changed the subject. Asked him what ring tones he had on his phone. Since I don’t care at this point where this conversation goes I said,

“Do you want to kiss a dude?”

“Hell no!”

“Why not, you might find you like it?”

“I am not kissing a man. It is more natural for women to kiss y’all are already so affectionate towards each other.”

“Well if you are looking for a lady who aims to please and you want another woman and I agree to it I think it is only fair that you in turn try to please me. So if you get another woman in the bedroom I get another man.”

“Another woman is beautiful. Another man is just nasty and some gay ish. I am not sharing my girl. Another man is just swinging.” He said this with such disgust.

I laughed and just rolled my eyes. Funny how he expects his woman to be all open minded and try new things, but he shuts down the moment I suggested he do something he has never done. What a double standard. He seemed offended by the audacity of me to even suggest that he should consider another man.

He looks uncomfortable and is looking around so I said “We can ease you into it, something simple, you can let him kiss your cheeks first, but I’ll pick which set.”

I wish you could have seen his face. I have never seen a guy perfectly arch his eye brow. He was speechless. I picked up my glass and took another sip of wine.

Well, actually this is not an “Ubuntu-Exclusive” but I think you guys should know.

Let’s say you have a cool song and want to have a ringtone of it on your cellphone…Prepare yourself, if you buy it from your carrier you’ll end up paying $3.00+ for the song and the Internet time you use to download it to your cell.

Well, there’s an easy and inexpensive way to do this…and it’s called “Audacity“! No, no need to take out your credit card, Audacity is absolutely free and it’s a very handy program for all your music-editing needs, not to mention that it is available on the repositories.

Let’s stick to the topic here. To make a ringtone simply choose your favorite song.

Now open up Audacity by going to Applications>Sound & Video>Audacity.

Click File>Open and then select the song you want to ringtonify…

Now with the cursor in Selection mode select the part of the song you want for your ringtone by dragging the cursor.

Fiddle back and forth with Play and Pause and make sure that the selected area is exactly how you want it. Once the area is selected click the “Trim” button (check the picture below to see the location of the button).

Now switch the cursor to Time Shift Tool. And drag the chosen part to the start of the timeline.

Now switch back to Selection mode. And select the areas where you might want to add an effect, like Fade IN or Fade OUT. For these effects select the beginning of the song (where you want the fade to take effect). Now click on Effects and select Fade In from the dropdown list.

For fade out do the exact same thing but selecting the end of the song and then Fade Out on the dropdown.

And DONE! You now have a freshly baked ringtone for your cellphone! Now simply go to File> Export and give it a name and a format on the new window. Select Mp3 Files on the dropdown on the bottom of the window.

And now all you need is a Bluetooth adapter or a card reader to send it to your cellphone. I won’t be going into great detail here because every cellhpone works differently. In my case I use both Bluetooth and a card reader (sometimes) to sync my new ringtones to my LG Shine CU720.

So your current computer/MP3 player/TV/thing that runs on electricity isn’t treating you right anymore. Or perhaps your friends are laughing at you for being trapped in the 90’s (“You still use film for your camera? That is so cute!”). For whatever reason it’s time for you to upgrade. Chances are you know what you’re doing, but just in case you don’t, here are some pointers:

DO: Know what you’re going in there to get. Srsly, don’t go in the store and say,“I’m looking for something to play my music on.” Ok, that’s great, would that be for your home, travel, or other? You can save time (and $$$) by being specific. “I need an mp3 player that’s sturdy with long battery life,” is more appropriate. This allows you take control of your shopping experience rather than be controlled by the sales associate.

DON’T: Go in there thinking that buying gadgets is just like buying a shirt. People make this mistake all the time. If you go into Macy’s and say that you want a red shirt they can show you what they have in stock and you can pretty much make a decision based on your personal knowledge of what does and doesn’t look good on your fabulous self. The same does not hold true for shiny tech stuff because everything looks good, but that doesn’t mean it all works well, epecially if you don’t know what you’re looking at to begin with. Which brings me to my next point.

DO: Your research. There are a thousand products out there that all do pretty much the same thing. There are slight (and not so slight) variations between products, but the important thing is not what the machine can do, but what are you going to use it for? Sure the LG Shine is a totally sw33t phone (mirror finish? Hello! Matches everything!) but are you going to use all of it’s features? Or do you use your cell mostly to make calls, drunk text people, and take photos of your friend’s ex with his new girl (who is such a skank!). If that’s all you use it for then you can go for a more cost efficient phone.

DON’T: Be talked into things that you don’t need. The sales associates are there to help you but they’re there to sell you things too. They’ll dazzle you with all the cool things that your potential new toy can do and then a month later you realize you don’t use it for half that stuff and you’re mourning the three hundred bucks you dropped on it.

DO: Stick to your price range. If you only want to spend $500 on a new HDTV and you’ve done your research, you know you can get what you need for that price so don’t spend over that. There’s always going to be something that’s a little bit better for a little bit more money, but if you don’t need it then why buy it? It’s ok to say no. But be reasonable and don’t have unrealistic expectations on spending. Remember you generally spend more for quality and/or name. Figure out which one you’re buying with your money before you get there.

DON’T: Go alone. If you really don’t know how to navigate the aisles of Geek World then take a friend who does. Just like when you brought your first car and your dad came with you to make sure you weren’t getting ripped off, this friend will do the same. Strength in numbers. And strength in someone telling you when you’re about to buy something really, really stupid.

These simple do’s and don’ts should keep you out of trouble and help you find the some techie awesomeness to fill your world (without completely emptying out your bank/loading up on crap)
