I have worked on my thoughts for a long time. Now I see one message flashing before my eyes —- all this began with this message and now its going to end with me actually acting on it.

‘SPEAK THE TRUTH’

First time that I really deliberated on this was back in Summers of 2008. That was a time when I graduated from NIT Jalandhar.  Thanks to my friend, Gary for that.

No I will not reason. I will not try to give rational proofs now. I have done them all. I ended up hurting myself. I ended up with negative thoughts taking shelter in my head. It was a fortunate moment that I realized this very simple message. It seems to be an answer to all my problems at the moment. Problems that I have created in last two years.  The cycle is over. Now is the time to do something new – was the status message of a friend on orkut! I kept it myself

Notion of right and wrong has always circumferenced my thoughts. So that forms a circle around everything I do and think about.  Certainly it gave me the power to discriminate. But then, at times – I found myself in bitter dilemma – unable to take any decision. Those were the times of prime importance if I were to go back and stand there in time.  Having no decision in itself was ‘wrong’. I had none.

Speaking truth liberates oneself from all fears and worries. What could be the possible reason of fear and doubts. As long as you do not pass doubts and fear to the world, world will not reflect the same to you. If I am telling one single lie, I would have created a lie in the mirror that would be reflected on me. Then this lie is going to make me tremble in fear and go insane with doubts at some point of time.  I am sure of this.

Speaking truth lets me feel stronger than ever. I feel hundred percent confident in doing what I am doing. I feel confident to overcome any negative thoughts coming on to knock hard on my head.

Unconditional Love - That which recognizes the unknown!

Do right and fear no man! This is a famous quote written by some wise wo/man I don’t know. I have an updated version for myself. Do right and have reason to love everyone. A reason to love everyone means a reason to love yourself more than anything else. I wish I had no reason to hate anyone in this world. Whatever reasons there are, I will make them disappear one by one.

DAWN TO DUSK - GOD IS THERE

Spiritual experiences are going on.  Early morning emotions are very different from what I feel by the time its afternoon. But I do find time to meditate twice a day. So I am able to remember the true nature of world – transitory, unstable and illusive and soul – ever shinning – one – divine!

Two days ago, I had a beautiful dream which actually started with a tragedy. With all the weird things going on in the middle, climax was truly marvelous. The dream reflected my emotions in meditation before sleep. That was a night when I went to sleep without getting my answers in meditation. A beautiful and angelic little girl with blue eyes appeared at the end of dream who was answering me.  I did not wake up when the dream was over. But the dream and its memory seems to be very very clear to me. My past records of recollecting a dream is pretty bad. I just don’t remember. But this one was really special. The angel was none other than Goddess to me. The answers I sought were very well answered. I had a sense of relief and my left mind had pretty good stuff to stay content to let me have unending faith and reason to love ‘unconditionally’.

Every God has their field day

For Sivarathri we pray to Siva, for Pradosham another deity and so on. On specific days we chant mantras for a specific god. Thus during different days, we chant different mantras. Do we have to say so many mantras or do we have one mantra which takes care of all the gods.

We chant mantras based on the trust and love and association we have for a particular god. Different people prefer different gods. This is based on mind of the person. All gods are one and the same. Why so many gods or energies? Each of those gods has a specific purpose behind them.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna

Of course there is one mantra that gives the benefit of chanting mantras for all gods. It is the mantra, “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”. If we take bija mantras for all mantras, then they are present inside this mantra. Combination of all characters of mantras pertaining to all Gods is found in this mantra.

I chanted so much, and thus ego creeps in

Whatever mantra you say then immediately you get attached yourself to deity. You feel proud that you have done so much. However, while doing a Japam, it should remove my ego too. There is no flaw in the mantras. But mantra should have the capability to shed our ego. Hare Rama Hare Krishna can do that for us. Nothing else is needed. That doesn’t mean we need not go away from mantras for other Gods.

Get a Total Satisfaction

People have attained Siddhis or liberation with all the mantras. Why then Hare Rama Hare Krishna mantra has a special place? If you chant Hare Rama Hare Krishna mantra, then you get the satisfaction that you get by chanting all the mantras. You feel complete because you have not missed out any.

Cib, in common Mayan usage, means owl. Its symbol is a staff. Its energy brings the qualities of grace, trust, mystic transmission, divine reception, and the capability of being a conduit for Spirit.

Tone 11 holds the purpose and intent for liberation. Eleven invites and supports us to examine areas of dissonance in our lives and strip away unsupportive beliefs or habits to become an open system for clearing and change.

Yellow is the color of the South. Its element is earth. Its vehicle of expression is the body.

So, the message for today is:

Today is a perfect day for a purifying cleanse of mind or body. Cib offers grace and trust, and tone 11 offers the will to let go of old stuff. Spend some time to meditate and breathe, being with your essence self. Allow whatever it is you need to see or let go of rise to the surface. Just breathe with yourself there and embrace whatever it is with compassion. Support it with a juice cleanse or fasting. Take a walk. Allow some time for silence.

Raga Des has always been one of my favorites. When the tune of Des starts out, you sit up. you think, I know this tune! it is so familiar! I have heard this before. and as the tune continues, you realize that you do know it. you come to know what it is that you know. the knowing. of home.

knowing that which you know. that is really the practice of mindfulness. bringing the hidden into the open. the depths to the surface. when we listen through our sense doors, when we pay attention, we start to be there as life unfolds…and we come to know all the things that are already part of us. a wordless sense of knowing. how does one describe it ? its when you see the sun setting, the pink sky, the trees rising up against the horizon. and you know without doubt that this is beauty. this is gratitude. you know. deep in your bones. you don’t need any explanation.

I wonder if that is why, the saints and monks use so much of language about nature in their poems. in the nature, we touch that knowing. this kind of knowing changes us.

I think of the most amazing uplifting life-changing experiences of my life, and the common thread has been this luminous presence of awareness. being present. as if I emptied my mind completely and showed up without expectations. willing to be changed by what came about. that is what we are urged to do, in every moment. to be willing to be changed by our experience. Of course its not easy. but it is possible. the more we practice, the more we show up. the more we truly are. whatever our experience is. can we be one with that sunset ? with that music ? with that Love ? with that ecstasy ? with that pain ? can we touch that knowing inside of us ? Can we change in every moment ?

Becoming free of that which restricts and binds us can only start to occur when we accept certain realities. The first of these is that everything is imperfect including us ands all we do. There is nothing wrong with this at all and by accepting and learning not to take the destructive path of striving for perfection we can liberate ourselves and start moving along to a more meaningful existence

“Beware of Bangladesh” was the cover title of the April 4, 2002 issue of Hong Kong-based magazine The Far Eastern Economic Review. This is the same Bangladesh that came out of a costly nine-month-long liberation war against the Islamic fascists and brutal junta of Pakistan in 1971. The newborn nation was fully inspired by a “non-communal” spirit, meaning one unbiased against Hindus. But the joy of liberation was tarnished by a struggle with the remaining Pakistani-created “vested quarter” of Al-Shams and Al-Badr forces. Slowly, the vested quarter entered into the core of the policy making. The country faced horrible tragedy from 1975 onward, with the restoration of military rule. The founding father of the nation was killed by army officials, and the nation stepped into a new tragedy. That was beginning of a new era in the history of Bangladesh. The constitution was amended many times afterward and the agenda of the vested quarter was fulfilled. The secular entity of Bangladesh ceased to exist, and a new entity that could be titled “Bloody Bismillah” was created. That was the foundation upon which the slow poison of political Islam began its entry into the land of peace. I want to recall a quote by the great Roman philosopher Seneca: “Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false and by the rulers as useful.” In Bangladesh, religion is indeed highly useful for all forms of politicians, on both the left and the right. The secular writer Taslima Nasrin was forced to leave the country by Islamic fascists. The free thinker Dr. Goni Gomez was killed by the Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and the nation was shocked by the bomb blasts carried out by Islamic fascists in almost all the districts. These are the results of the Islamization of Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the minorities live under threat all the time from extreme followers of Islam. We want to dream of a day when we will be able to worship on Christmas day without needing police security and without the fear of any bomb blasts. We want to dream of a day when Bangladesh will be free of corruption and when we will be free from poverty. We want to dream of a day when the people of all religions will sing the song of peace and harmony together and work together for a better Bangladesh. We want to dream of a better Bangladesh. We don’t want to see any title saying “Beware of Bangladesh,” but rather we want to see one saying “Bangladesh, a unique example of peace and prosperity.”

So tonight I got it in my mind that I didn’t like facebook so much anymore. So I deleted most of my ‘friends’. It felt great. It was like ‘yeah, right. We aren’t friends. We dont talk. You’re a number and an irritation on my daily updates by telling me about stupid games you’re playing or who you’re adding to your ‘friends’ list. ‘ So I basically just kept people I know from far away (ie Carrie), a few who add pictures I want, and Jamie because…Jamie and I talk on facebook once in a while and why give that up? Maybe I’ll start adding people again but very selectively.

As far as I’m concerned it is no longer a social website. It is now used for me to get the latest information from things from shows and musical artists that I love. Thanks, facebook, for being useful! *thumbsup* Man, it feels oddly good. I’m not sure why but…it does.

In other daily news Jamie did not have a heart attack so that’s good. I got a lot of Psychology done in the hospital, I have a somewhat humorous post to make tomorrow and…yeah, I guess that’s it. G’night, people! Love you guys. Like whoa.

Pornographic materials are always tagged with one of these words: SEXY SECRETARY. Sooner, you won’t be reading or hearing this one only in porn videos. Porn sites that feature sexy secretaries, playful college girls or naughty nuns are considered acceptable- (you can’t tell the world to ban every porn site because of the fact that the porn industry is royalty, porn sites are earning hard cash so be kind enough and think about the taxes) but offices and companies that only hire secretaries who qualify as “sexy secretaries”? I say this is insanity. I suggest gongs here for a little drama.

So every woman is looking for liberation. After getting tired of burning bras, they tried to find ways to achieve liberation. When there were no more bras to burn, they turned to their clothes and stripped naked. When men looked at their bodies like hungry vultures, they got angry and called everyone a pervert. So much for your so called liberation against the male hormones.

In the world of airlines, flight attendants cannot be called as flight attendants not unless if they’re sexy, skinny, long haired and long legged (maybe because it’s the businessmen that are always traveling). The absurd thing here is that women are proud to become objects of the testosterone world. One flight attendant commented from an interview that she was fired because she was attractive. Here’s the real story- the flight attendant was actually fired because she was posting sensual photos in her blog wearing her official uniform. The company found the act embarrassing and degrading to the company reputation. And here’s the embarrassing part- the strongest accusation she could find was that the airlines today prefer to hire fat and ugly flight attendants. Now, why am I embarrassed? Well, why shouldn’t I? All along, some women are fighting to make men realize that a woman should not be hired in an office because she has good skills not because she has good boobs. But here’s this flight attendant making a strong conclusion that attractive women (what she meant by attractive women here are those who will willingly pull their skirts and show more skin just to get promoted and get accepted in a testosterone driven culture) should be the only ones to be hired as flight attendants. Well, what does she expect, loud gongs from all the women (what I mean women by women here are those women with calloused feet, skinny women, fat women, women with big glasses, women with scarred faces and finally women)?

Women hate women and men don’t hate men. Maybe every women should need a meditation gong and men need some more testosterone photos and videos. Anyway, I don’t hate Cindy Crawford and Dianne Lane, they’re both hot women, I can very well understand the liberation there. Maybe I need to learn how to form fragments and then form a cult to make up my mind why women hate women.

One of the first ideas that I deconstructed about Christianity is the idea that God is a causal being. By that, I mean that I don’t believe that God interacts with or in any way directs the course of human history. God does not have a will or plan.

I often hear people attribute inexplicable circumstances to the will of God. When a job opportunity falls through, it’s because God has a different one in mind. When rent money unexpectedly appears from an unknown source, it is God’s blessing. When a child dies in a tragic accident, it’s part of God’s plan to teach us something even more amazing. When a situation is hopeless beyond any imaginable redeeming quality, it is because God works in mysterious ways. A causal God is reassuring, giving us strength to persevere in the face of overwhelmingly difficult situations. A causal God answers the prayers of the righteous. A causal God has a benevolent plan, will and purpose for everything, even if we cannot discern it. Such a God reassures us because ultimately, responsibility is not in our hands.

However, upon closer evaluation, I find that such notions lose credibility. For example, one individual recounted a story of how he couldn’t find his eraser in class one day. He prayed to God that he would find it. He looked in his backpack, and there it was. God had seemingly answered his prayer. For some reason, my mind immediately jumped to those suffering in extreme poverty. I thought about the HIV+ mother in Africa who is praying for the life of her child who is dying of malaria. Despite her fervent prayer, her child dies. Instead of answering her prayer, God worked in mysterious ways, probably to bless her in the future in ways that we can’t imagine now.

The question that formed in my mind was this: Why is it that God answered the prayer of the kid who lost his eraser, yet chose to “work in mysterious ways” for the woman whose child was dying? Furthermore, why does God frequently answer frivolous prayers of privileged people, while frequently choosing to “work in mysterious ways” for oppressed and marginalized people?

By that assessment, the causal God is racist, classist, sexist, heterosexist, and in all other ways prejudiced against anyone who our society discriminates against. The causal God is predominantly concerned with the whims of the societal elite, identifying with and reinforcing their positions of power. The causal God commits all forms of societal sin which Jesus preached so adamantly against. In fact, the causal God is the greatest perpetrator of societal sin.

The causal God is dead to me. It was a scary thought at first. Our perceived safety net is gone. However, I believe the safety net has always only been wishful thinking; ultimately, we’re better off dismantling this myth.

If God does not interact with, direct and orchestrate human history, then who does? You. Me. Everyone. Everything. To the extent that we make our own decisions, we control our own destiny. To the extent that forces beyond our control affect us, we must learn to accept and adapt to what happens to us. Rather than being instruments of a divine puppet master, we control our own actions.

Such an idea can be liberating. Collectively, all of creation dictates its own fate. Yet, this liberation is coupled with an onus of stewardship. In that we dictate our fate, we are responsible for it. This responsibility should not make us feel guilty for our shortcomings, but motivate us to overcome them. For if we created them, we can also reverse or overcome them.

After an attempt to squish and reblock that elephant hat, I realized it was useless.There were too many oops in it to fudge: the gauge was really off AND it was over-stretched in the blocking process. I had to undo and rip everything out.  Just look at the difference between the visor section and the template. The knitted part of the visor should not be about 25%-30% bigger than the template. The gauge in the Oops Hat was about 6 sts x  9 rows. The pattern gauge should be 7.5 sts x 11 rows.

After I ripped out all the pieces, I measured the hat body. OMG it was huge, at about 9.5-9.75″ for one piece. The hat is constructed of 4 pieces: 2 wider hat body pieces and 2 skinnier panel pieces.  The shirred panel measured at about 8-8.5″ each, which means that the Oops version had a head circumference of about 35-36.5″ (89-93cm) around!! Seriously, elephant!!

After I ripped out the hat, I wound the yarn only my swift and blocked the skein to get all the kinks out. To restore some of it’s springy qualities, I beat the wet hank of yarn a few times on the counter (got some good agression workout), then hung them to dry in one of our guest bathrooms.

To make things easier when I reknit, I kept each section in its own hank and marked them using different-colored ties.

When I looked at the pattern for reknitting, I realized that while there definitely were some knitter error with the gauge, there was also some designer-error. The designer-error probably would have been caught had my test knitters finished on time. Due to unforeseen reasons 1 dropped out and 2 were really late on their deadlines. They were supposed to finish right when the sample knitter was about to start, but apparently that did not happen. Maybe this hat had a hex on it.

Anyway, the designer-error occured in the miscalculation of the CO sts. My error would have made the hat bigger – probably make the medium-sized sample fit an Large or X-Large head rather than a medium head (unless the medium head has big hair).

After I fixed and recalculated my errors, I reknit the hat and even remembered to take some photos of the finishing work so that I could put up a tutorial for Amelia Earhart and I have photos to do the tutorial for this hat when it’s ready for release. BTW, this hat is called Eleanor Roosevelt.
