Soil in South Florida is very sandy and very shallow, as most of the neighborhoods rest on a deep layer of fill. When Qubano and I decided to plant a vegetable garden, we chose to build raised beds, which would help with drainage and provide good, rich soil. After taking a look at the space, we decided to build two 6′ x 3.5′ beds, which will go along the wooden fence.

We purchased the untreated wood at Home Depot, then (Qubano) set to work cutting, sanding, and drilling the planks into place.

Finally, the beds were done. We lined the inside bottom half with plastic to (hopefully) keep some moisture away from the untreated boards so they would last longer.

They look great, and Jack loves them too!
