It all started with an email from my sister…the piecer. You remember her, right?

In it there was a tutorial from Joyful Abode on how to make a Fabric Stove. I thought I can do that and I have enough scraps to do so with out having to go to the store. This happened on Saturday, I had a wedding to go to in a couple hours and about 12 quilts sitting in my garage awaiting their turn, and I start rummaging though my stash to find fabrics for fabric stoves.

This is what I came up with…

Yep…5 of them, out of scraps…and so cute.

What a perfect place for a future cook to begin learning the ropes.

They can be made to match your child’s style. Of course they aren’t realistic, but they work great for pretending.

And best of all…

They are portable….roll them up, tie the ribbon and off you go…to Grandma’s kitchen.

These stoves will be traveling to a couple craft fairs before they are listed online for sale (hopefully these will all be sold and new ones will be listed) but if you would like one, they can be special ordered. Contact me for information.

As for the new space, I have moved. I had lots of space, many rooms, and my equipment and supplies scattered in a couple rooms. Due to various situations, I moved in with a cousin, Thanks so much. The result of that is that all of me and mine is in a studio room and a 10′x15′ storage space down the street.

This is what we look like now…Who knew someone would have space for the quilting machine? But it fits just right in my room and yes that is my bed across from the machine, as I said all of me and mine is in here.Here is the sewing  machine and desk. Don’t mind the mess, I have learned that in a small space, having a few things out of place makes a mess.

Project storage…is under the machine. It’s not the prettiest, but it works and I am thankful.Door handles double as a closet for the newest item for Lil Miss Quilt’m.

I am thankful for the space God has provided and how it suits my needs.

3 more to be exact.

First there is Jenny. She was a plain denim jumper found at a thrift store. I added big red and little white ric-rac and snowflakes (also found at the thrift store).The bib…Pocket…
Front skirt…And back. Isn’t she cute?

Then we have Rebecca. She also was found at a thrift store and only had a cute belt to claim, but look at her now.She has ruffles and buttons.Buttons at the top of godets (They came from a shirt which was also found at a thrift store…I like thrift stores).And ruffles at the front…And back…with more buttons. She too is cute and ready to go to a new home.

And last, but not least is Cherry.

From this pile of color…She was created.With large orange ric-rac and blue at the top with yellow and green ties…And large orange ric-rac and bows at the bottom…She is very charming. So cute and with lots of bright colors she is bound to bring smiles to all who see her.

Now that they are all finished…I just need to find a little girl to model them. Unless they are purchased before that happens…

More items to come, I have a embellished pink denim skirt on its way to being completed.

It went kind of like this…

workout – eat breakfast – study my Bible – quilt

My sister – the piecer, has a stack of quilts at my house, so I wanted to get some of them done.

This quilt got hearts and stars all through out. My machine worked great…How ever on the next one was blessed with skipped stitches.

Quilted in an all over meander with big swirls in the squares.

And of course, I had helpers…In the middle of the second quilt (the one above) I had to run to the store to get more thread…since I was going, I decided to pick up some more supplies for a couple other projects.

Backing and binding to go with this pre-pieced fabric. I was able to quilt and bind this one and post it on ebay for sale.

Quilted in swirls with cup cakes on the back made this quilt very fun for someone special. Along with this quilt, I will use some of the pre-pieced fabric to make a dress accented with yellow, pink, blue and green trim and orange ric-rac.

I also had some pillow cases that had been started…might as well finish them and put them up for sale.

The sherbert colors will brighten any room.

Then…it was food and work out again…just for fun and out to Starbucks for the use of their internet…

When I checked my email…there is a message that says I have received a payment…FOR WHAT? I open it, and what a surprise, an item had sold off of etsy…I will be going my the post office on Monday to mail it out to Germany.

It was a full and productive day.

What have I been doing? Working…at my real, boring job and working on quilts.

I have had several leads with in the past month and many that have followed through. I am very thankful. To share just a bit:

I finished the T-shirt quilt that I was starting 2 months ago.

I got post cards printed with prices for 2 styles of T-shirt quilts – they will be displayed at the Quilt Show.

I quilted a bunch too…
Antique blocks from Texas in the 1930s – all over meander.

Around the World embroidery quilt – all over swirls.

A quilt to be given to the hospital for donation to Cancer patients – all over meander.

Baby quilt – quilted with mazes, stars and flowers.

With the provided blocks – for a retiring Librarian, frame the blocks, add sashing, borders, quilt in an allover meander and bind.

It was requested that I finish top stitching fabric swatches from clothing and printed photos on to a quilted batting, quilt and bind. My quilting machine didn’t like the different fabrics and thicknesses. Long story short…The needle broke and several hours later and lots of frustration I got a new one in and fixed another problem that I had noticed.

On top of those, I have 2 quilts to make from little girl clothes and another one to quilt. With a couple more prospects that I am waiting to hear from.

Whats coming up…Hopefully an ebay or esty store with in the next week, more dresses and photos of new designs for Lil Miss Quilt’m.

Ideas are popping through my head more than I have time to complete… I guess that is a good thing

While I neglected this site…it is for a reason…I have been busy.

I put together another baby quilt – with an animal alphabet fabric. All I have to do is bind and label before it is delivered.

I got 2 new clients, 1 for a T-shirt quilt

I have cut the shirts, interfaced them, put the in order and cut them into blocks…next on this project is to cut sashing and sew it all together.

I have another client with 2 tops that need to be quilted.

An around the world quilt for all over meander. I am still trying to decide if it is to be quilted with yellow or purple thread.

This one is made from blocks purchased at an estate sale. The blocks were hand pieced in Texas in the 1930′s. Each block has an embroidered name, probably of the maker, some have dates and cities. It too is quilted in an all over meander, simple but one of the best ways to deal with too much fabric in one area.

I had to kick Magic Cat off the quilt this morning. The cat’s think that this is a wonderful place to nap.

I have been buying thread – well mom and I. Stocking up colors of the my favorite kind.

One of my new ideas is to make up post cards specifically for T-shirt quilts and drop them off at sporting stores and others that cater to those that collect shirts for sporting events. I have priced out quilts for 9-36 t-shirts in 2 different styles. This way people have a known labor price and specific options, easy for them, easy for me.

I am getting some quilted goods and girls dresses together to start an Etsy Store of one of a kind pieces for girls sizes 2T to 6X and quilts. The girls dresses will be under the label, Lil Miss Quilt’m.

I made 2 of these and embellished the other 2.

A friend of mine has begun to create floral accessories. I commissioned her to make a flower hair clip for the floral dress. I am planning on having several of the little girls I know be models for my dresses. So far I have just done the floral dress with my friends little girl that is almost 2 years old.

It has been a busy several weeks. I am planning on getting a business license soon, by the end of April. Finishing the baby quilt and those for my customers. Do 2 more photo shoots for Lil Miss Quilt’m. And get the Etsy store up and running. And Lord willing the quilting business will be picking up and continue to keep me busy among everything else that I need to do.
