A Craft Fair And An Amazing Movie...

So Saturday was our second outing to Barties Boutique and although the sun was shining it was a pretty quiet day nothing like our first visit there. The lovely guy who runs the Lime Cafe at St. Paul’s put it down to people making the most of the sunny weather which obviously didn’t work in our favour….where is the rain when you need it. As always the food at Lime Cafe was lovely and to be honest we probably spent more than we made on a delicious breakfast, cakes and a yummy salad for lunch it really is worth a visit if you are ever near sunny Worthing.

We thought our stall had the right amount of chaotic balance and doolallytatness. Heres a couple of shots of just a selection of our crafty wares.

We even brought out the Corgi to help add to the display of all of our Jubilee goodies.

As always we were in the company of some very talented people, next door to us were the most beautiful watercolour paintings and the most amazing hand embroidery by a very talented lady called Jessica Coote. Her very sweet daughter was there selling them on her behalf, I purchased a lovely watercolour which will make the perfect present for an upcoming birthday.

The day went by in a flash and before we knew it we were heading to the cinema to go and watch the amazing new Avengers film one word pretty much sums it up AWESOME …

Me and Doolallytat JJ were really struggling to decided who we heart more….Iron Man,Thor or Captain America. I have bagsyed Iron Man, I have a seriously bad crush on Robert Downey Jr, It really is a fabulous film and for any girl who loves a super hero it’s a definite must see.

When you visit places regularly you find your favourite café and when they go “off” it is let down.

Lime Café at the lake end of town (opposite Queen Elizabeth hospital) in Rotorua is bathed in sunshine and has always been a superb café, great coffee, tasty food and superb savoury brioches.

What a disappointing experience, my morning coffee was yesterday. The brioches are no more and replaced with doughy muffins. The lemon and poppyseed was almost tasteless. And why one would have to wait 16 minutes for a long black coffee when there were four staff on the counter is beyond me. And the coffee was tasteless.

Incredulous is the only word I can find for a café/deli charging $9.90 for a sandwich. Capers in Eruera St, Rotorua has a great selection of cabinet food – salads, lasagna, quiches etc. But $9.90 for a sandwich is over the top, okay the sandwich was large because of the very thick bread and but narrow filling. The small size salad was also $9.90, but seemed better value for the big chuck of freshly cooked beetroot, generous pieces of feta, zucchini, yellow peppers. It was a generous serving and very tasty.

The sandwich expense was solved with a pack of two “gourmet” ham and salad sandwich from Indigo Café in Hinemoa St, Rotorua for $5. Good value, which restored our faith in over the top food prices. Rotorua may be a tourist town, but there is no excuse for excessive prices and not good value.
