Menys avui cada dia he fet alguna coseta… ahir per exemple vaig fer el recorregut de la cursa del 2007, fent un temps de 2h01 (segons la classificació d’aquell any hagués quedat el 170 de 450, a uns 40′ del primer)

It seems I’ve had some link love recently. WoW.com posted a link to How to wipe in Trial of the Grand Crusader so welcome to all the new readers who clicked through there. Plus Big Bear Butt said nice things about me, which is always nice. Its great when the bloggers you read turn out to read your blog too.

Morrighan’s top tip of the week
This one is good for this week only.  The Pilgrim’s Bounty event is a great chance to level cooking on your alts!  The mats cost next to nothing, the various capitals are all easily accessible these days and unlike the big professions, the cooking has no level limits.  By that I mean that for enchanting, tailoring, etc. your character must be a certain level before they can progress the trade – you can’t have a level 1 with 400 enchanting.  The same is not true for cooking.  You should easily reach 300 cooking on your low level alts saving yourself a great deal of time and energy later so level up your favourites and don’t think about cooking again until Outland.

Ocmpoma has posted a link to an article called ‘Systemics and Cybernetics in a Historical Perspective‘ which has the following, very interesting, abstract:

Yeah, I know, this is basically me trying to pad my post-a-day run as long as I can.  I’ll do my best do get something real up later today (basically because Flash: Rebirth was so bad it’s eating at me).  Still, I had to share this one, in which Rob Liefeld discusses the written-but-never-made Badrock movie.

My favorite part — and this is The Rob’s typical M.O. — is that when discussing the high concept he describes it as “in the vein of” or “in the style of” another movie that was successful but came out later, so it looks like he’s predicting popular trends before they happen.  However, when he gets into the nuts and bolts of what was really in the script it sounds like complete tripe.

Knocking out the crowd of a concert with a super-powered fart?  Really???

Io tra MSN, ICQ, Skype, MSN, YahooMessenger dovrei tenere aperti 5 programmi… per non parlare della mail personale, quella del blog, LinkedIn e Facebook… ‘na faticaccia no?

Ed ecco che l’altro giorno “scopro” Digsby… mi “controlla” le varie mail e funge da IM multiprotocollo per i vari programmi di IM (eccetto Skype… almeno per ora)…

…poi controlla LinkedIn e facebook e un po’ di altre cose che non necessariamente utilizzo…

Comodissimo per i vari popup di avviso dei messaggi ma anche dei cambi di stato di FB o di nuovo foto inserite dai contatti…

La feature mooooolto comoda è che una volta installato su un PC e creato l’account su Digsby (a cui associare tutti gli altri) se per esempio sono in giro con il portatile ed installo Digsby lì… TAAAAAC automaticamente prende tutte le impostazioni che avevo già impostato sul PC di casa… in questo modo uno non si deve nemmeno più preoccupare di ricordarsi 10k password… ne basta una… uella di Digsby!

Personalmente mi son trovato a disabilitare un po’ di funzioni che risultavano “leggermente” invasive durante l’utilizzo normale: ridotto all’osso i popup e gli avvisi sonori in pratica] ma devo dire che sono rimasto piacevolmente impressionato dal programmino… Bhé provatelo anche voi no?

Along with the usual talk of how they can’t believe that celebrities they idolize now watch them on TV every week, there are quite a few great moments in this video where they talk about Glee’s role in supporting the underdog and how the show shines a light onto the fact that the majority of people in high school don’t really fit in.
• Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, and Matthew Morrison have jointly gained a position on People magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive 2009″ list. I’m not disagreeing with that title one itty-bitty bit, but I do wish that the mag had deigned to give them all their own spot. Regardless, watch the photo shoot’s accompanying video, hilariously titled “Glee’s Sexiest ‘Dorks.’”

La serie ficciones del fotógrafo belga Flip Dujardin es realmente interesante. Flip es un fotógrafo de arquitectura, entre otras cosas, que ha decidido realizar sus propias “construcciones” a partir de lo que capta con su cámara, generando estructuras que podrían recordar a algunos trabajos de los constructivistas rusos como el de Melnikov, por por poner solo un ejemplo.   Vale la pena dar una vuelta por su página web.

Here’s a quasi humanoid robot that is designed to be your workout trainer. He’ll show you the exercises, give you motivational and encouraging pep talks and even play games with you. We think the idea sounds good, but in execution, he flails his arms and randomly says creepy insincere sounding things like “I’m having  fun. I could play this game all day long. I’m having too much fun.” That’s just creepy.

[Mr. Nelson] got sick of walking all the way down the hall just to see if there was anyone in the bathroom. His solution was to build this massively overdone indicator light system. It uses a proximity sensor located in each bathroom to determine occupied status and has a fantastic industrial look.

If you’ve ever wanted to get into 3d photography you’ll be pleased to see this writeup on how to build a simple rig and compile the images for different viewing methods.

We were amazed by these beautifully crafted brass machines. The one in this video is solar powered and seems to run pretty smoothly. Not bad for something that was all hand crafted from sheets of brass.

Be careful with this one folks. This video shows how to melt a beer bottle in your microwave. We’re not sure why you would want to, but we sure enjoyed watching it happen. Maybe that’s reason enough.

Out title, paraphrased from Jeff Gomez’ paraphrasing of  Henry Jenkins in Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide, as included in Nick de la Mare’s article “The Power of Transmedia Experiences - Another approach to knitting narratives together” in Creativity (online), (phew!), is not really anything new to artists, and seemingly not that new to media “creative” types (read advertising, PR and other marketing communications ilks), either.  That doesn’t mean that it’s not interesting; it is.  It’s essentially what “multi-media art” has been about for, well, forever.

De la Mare’s take on it makes it all, naturally enough, more easily discussed, designed, manipulated, produced and, in the end, billed to clients (the cost of which will be included in the products these “clients” sell, and so, in the products we buy from them, meaning everything we buy).  The technology is here (or there), or most of it is, and our collective technology/media behavior is certainly about up to par.  So, in the probably not particularly distant future, we will no longer see a TV show made into a movie made into a video game with all of the associated products (t-shirts, and all that) developed along the way.  What we will see, it seems, is the use of each of these media to tell their part of the story in their own quintessential way thus, in the end, offering us the aforementioned “richer narrative” and the, no doubt refreshing, opportunity to “immerse ourselves in other worlds”.

So churns the minds of those whose mission, so critical in this time of global economic crisis, is to motivate us to buy more things.  Rest assured, the future is in good hands.

However, and honestly, the simplicity of tone and “terminology” in the article offers perhaps a less abiguous way to look at and discuss the idea of “transmedia experience” as distinct from “multimedia experience”, and that’s nice.  Isn’t it.
