The Round Lipgloss is a bit dissapointing in comparison to the Megashine (I’ll write more on this in my next post).

The Megashine, on the other hand and as always, I love them!

• Natural is a brownish pink shade that will look great on any complexion (this is a staple on my make up pouch!)
• Silver Plum is a deep plum with the right amount of bronze shimmer.

Btw, do you notice the Megashine’s new packaging?

Now on to the lipstick..

Pumpkin Pie is a pretty peachy brown shade, as you can see on the swatch above. However, the colour is not showing on my pigmented lips, regardless on how pigmented it is when I swatch is on my hand. Definitely a bummer since I like the colour a lot. If anything, I think Pumpkin Pie will do paler lips a better justice. So if you got pale lips, you might want to give this shade a try.

Glow is a warm plummy pink blush. Blended, it gives a radiant yet natural colour. I love the healthy glow it gives my complexion!

Yeap, I stipple it. What an ugly surface the stippling brush left.. LOL.. And here’s the swatches:

Finding a 100% natural lip gloss is more challenging than you might think. Many companies call themselves “green,” natural,” and “organic” but you’ll still find synthetic chemicals, dyes and petroleum products in their ingredient lists. Not so with Revolution Organics. They’re the real deal. Not only does their lipgloss not contain synthetics, chemicals, parabens, petrochemicals or artificial ingredients, at least 85% of the ingredients are certified organic.

There are 5 shades to choose from, and I have tested three of them. I bought “Integrity” (the one in the middle) at least six months ago and am due for a new tube as I wear it almost daily. It’s a lovely “your lips but better” (YLBB) rosy shade with the slightest suggestion of warm shimmer. The consistency is perfect as far as I’m concerned. It’s got a little bit of that thick texture you want from a gloss so that it clings and lasts on your lips, but it never becomes goopy or overly sticky. It glides on effortlessly, feels incredibly nourishing and has absolutely no scent. “Vibe” (on the far right) is also a YLBB gloss, but is a brownish peachy color that got a little swallowed up by the pigment of my lips. I prefer “Integrity,” but would love to see “Vibe” on someone with a lighter complexion.

Finally, “Truth,” (second from the left) the brightest and darkest of the three creates a stunning sheer-fuchsia lip. It looks much darker in the tube than on your lips, but compared to “Integrity” and “Vibe” it is more pigmented and also has a more noticeable sparkle. Since I am so inclined to love pink, “Truth’s” hot-pink cuteness is hard to pass-up.

If it wasn’t enough to nail it in the lipgloss arena, Revolution Organics also has put out a mighty fine blush. They call it a Beauty Balm since it can also be used on the lips, or anywhere you choose to put it on your face. As pictured above, the colors from left to right are: “Blushed”, “Sunkissed” and “Bronzed”. “Blushed” is like the stick version of the “Truth” gloss, a bright hot pink that is beautiful, but admittedly a little intimidating for me to put on my cheeks. I applied it very lightly with my fingertips which gave me that “just in from the cold look” and was very flattering on my olive toned skin. Any more than a light tapping and blending, and I would have swiftly moved into clown territory. On the lips, “Blushed” is gorgeous. I don’t normally go for such intensely bright pinks on my lips, but it’s easy to control “Blushed’s” color when applied with your fingertips. And when you swipe a little “Truth” lipgloss on top, it’s a knock-out!

“Sunkissed” is a peach blush that has both brown and pink in it, creating a very natural look. I applied the stick directly to my skin, and then blended with my fingers. I did the same with “Bronzed” which is a brown toned bronzer…no orange to be found in there! I loved the warm, subtle glow it created. All of the Beauty Balms create a dewy look and feel very moisturizing. Like the lipglosses, the Beauty Balms have no scent, are 100% natural and are made with 85% certified organic ingredients.

I was also able to sample the All-Over Skin Creme, Lip Balm, and All-Over Body Balm. The Skin Creme is wonderful. It has a lovely citrus smell, moisturizes effectively and comes in a tube that fits easily into your handbag. I’m heading to San Francisco this weekend, and it’s coming with me! The Lip Balm didn’t impress me as much. The texture was too thin, and frankly, my holy grail is Dr. Hauschka’s Lip Care Stick and that’s hard to compete with. On the other hand, I did really like the All-Over Body Balm as a lip balm. Not quite as much as my Dr. H, but almost, and that’s saying a lot.

Of the Lipgloss I used Cover Girl, this one in particular I liked it, it lasts much, smells nice and creamy, it gives a very soft tone on the lips.

Today I went to a play called “The Elves and the Shoemaker”.  It is different from the classic one because it has a villain in it.  And, the elves outwit him!  I liked it but only the parts I saw.  I only saw a little because I slept through most of it.  I’ve seen it three million times.  There was a change though.  The elves were more funny than last year.  I sat next to Arianna and Sage.  Arianna talked through the performance and Sage was bumping up against me – but none of that bothered me.  I like field trips because you get to see things that you don’t get to see that often in school. 

Doggie classes were tonight.  It was our second class.  It went great.  Henry and Gracie were mellow.  I liked the small dog named Bella.  Hey!  All the dogs were mellow.  We learned how to walk our dogs with proper rules.  Gracie and Henry did well on that.  They also learned how to sit which went well.  They did it on their first try.  That to me felt amazing.  I feel lucky to own two Basset Hound puppies.  Our trainer’s name is Kat; she is very nice.  I enjoy dog lessons. 

This morning I got a package from my Auntie Sarah.  She gave me two butterfly and ladybug bracelets.  She also gave me soda chapstick.  I think that they are cool.  She gave my little sister a puppy purse.  It is green and pink plaid with a little bit of black.  I think it’s cute.  I think Izzy really likes it; she keeps her coins in it.  I think it’s better that she keeps them in there than in her mouth. 

I had four friends over to celebrate my birthday, a few days ago.  I enjoyed unwrapping all my marvelous presents from my friends.  My favorite present was a unicorn with ribbons in its mane and tail.  I also got a board game that I got.  My bff Emily got me a skittles backpack and a book with elves and a statue.  Emily drinks milk while she eats cereal – she’s having milk while she’s drinking it!  I think it is better to have juice or water with your cereal instead of milk.  I still love Emily though. 

Today I made a soup.  It was chicken noodle soup.  I did it on my own basically.  I chopped the celery, carrots and onions.  I also poured them into the blue pot which is still sitting on the stove.  I don’t think my sister liked it that much.  She didn’t eat very much of it.  Right now she is asleep. 

I had to write a paragraph of my favorite food for homework.  I chose my favorite food which is cucumber.  I talked about three things: The taste, what they look like and how they taste in salads.  In my opinion, my mom makes the best cucumber salad.  She uses a special vinegar, which I will not tell you what it is.  And I will not tell you the other ingredients either. 

A few days ago, I baked cookies and decorated them.  They are for Christmas.  I will name all of them: Snowman, angel, holly, star, christmas tree, northern star and a wreath.  I am tempted to eat them, they all look like mini figures.  A few of them have spices and silver balls.  They all look so yummy.  My dad made the angel, it looks kind of funny.

Hello everyone!

This tutorial will be about how to make a colorful, gorgeous look.

• First,  start off by applying an eye cream to moisturize and protect your eyes.

• Then apply eyeshadow primer. If you don’t have this: liquid foundation or moisturizer works too.
• Apply a light blue eyeliner up to the crease of your eye.  I used one from Sephora. It makes all my eyeshadow look more beautiful when layered.

• Next pick out a bright blue eyeshadow.

• Next, apply the blue to the outside of your lid, closest to your ear (this is sort of hard to explain) using your iris as a guide.

• Next pick a green color. One with a little bit of sheen is the best. It will look better than a matte green over the blue liner.

• Apply the green next to the blue and blend the line between them a bit.

• Pick a bright matte yellow!

• Apply the matte yellow from the green to the inner corner of your lid.

• Next, using the matte yellow you picked, mix it with a little bit of gold. This somehow makes it really bright. It also adds some sparkle to it (and sparkles rule!).

• Next, apply liquid eyeliner and wing it to make a cat eye.

• Now, pick a purple cream eyeshadow. 

• Next, with an angled brush or Q-tip, apply the purple color to your lower lids below the waterline (the way you would eyeliner).
• After you do this, pick a hot pink eyeshadow and apply it over the purple to the middle of your lower lid.

• Next, take a matte yellow and mix some gold into it (like earlier ) and apply it the rest of the way over the purple eyeshadow. Be sure to blend it with the pink!
  

  Mix it into the corner too.

• Next, curl your lashes and apply a white eyelash primer to them. The white coat of that comes with mascara is perfect for this. Quickly while it’s wet, using an eyeshadow brush, dust white eyeshadow over your lashes. You’ll see why I included this step in the next part. [TIP: When you want a lot of volume for your lashes: apply two or three coats of mascara. Then, before it dries, dust on translucent powder. Then put one more coat of mascara on and separate your lashes with a clean applicator or a lash comb.]

• Next apply a blue mascara (haha that’s why we made out lashes white).

• We’re done!

For foundation and blush, keep it simple. The eyes are the main focus in this tutorial. A pale pink matte, or a nude lipstick looks best.

If you use gloss, don’t put it in the corners of your lips; this will help your lipstick not to run.

I took this lovely lipgloss from my mother’s purse a few months ago (so please don’t mention it to her) and loved the color.  This gloss has a very nice buttercream or cupcake scent and gives off great color and shine.  I’d say it’s a winner.  Check it out for yourself!

To be perfectly honest (which I strive to do), I can’t pick out lipgloss to save my skin.  I think it will look good on me in the store and when I get home I think, damn, too light, too frosted, too shiny, too sticky, etc.  I don’t love this lipgloss.  Maybe it would work for someone else, but not me.

I have this color in Whisper which is a very shimmery shiny mauvey pink.  It has a doe-foot applicator and a floral scent.  I’m not a fan of floral scented lipglosses.  It has no taste that I can discern and very little color payoff.

My final opinion, if you are looking for a chic looking handbag gloss, this might be a winner.  It gives a nice shiny finish without a taste, strong smell or frosty finish.  It has decent staying power and is very affordable.

On a whim, I purchased the NARS Holiday lipgloss collection. After reading some of the reviews on other sites, I found the negativity to be mostly unfair. The biggest complaint seemed to be that the application wasn’t smooth and that the gloss itself was sticky. Personally, I didn’t have an issue with the application and though it was slightly sticky, it definitely still feels pleasant on your lips once it’s evenly distributed. There doesn’t seem to be a scent or taste so if you like to be able to taste your gloss on your lips, this probably isn’t the product for you. The colors are nice, though Harlow, Striptease, and Orgasm are relatively similar. I mostly purchased the set for Bloodwork and Triple X since as anyone who knows me is aware of, I’m rarely without red lipstick or gloss. What can I say, it brings a little easy glamour into one’s life! Every girl should indulge herself in red lipstick at least sometimes. There’s a shade for everyone. As for the clear, I mostly just wanted to try a NARS version since I love the brand. I probably won’t wear the other three shades too often, only because light pinks and nudes on my skintone aren’t the most flattering. Still lovely colors, though. They seem to be relatively long-wearing. The colors do come off and fade some when eating and drinking, but they leave your lips with a nice tint still after. The only downside for me was that I was expecting them to be full-sized which they are not, but don’t fret. They’re still a pretty good size and should last awhile, especially if you’re mixing them up from day to day.

Don’t let the reviews throw you. This set would definitely make a good stocking stuffer for Christmas, especially for NARS collectors. You really can’t beat the price either, the $35.00 for five 0.15 oz glosses is a pretty nice deal.

I’ve always been a sucker for pretty packaging and have sometimes bought makeup simply because it looked so lovely, only to discover that what’s on the outside doesn’t mimic what’s on the inside. The vintage -looking silverized and silk-screened packaging of the lipstick, lipgloss and powder compact are all etched with an ornate filigree that reminds me of damask-printed wallpaper and is perfectly suited for display on my vanity dresser. My favourites from the collection is the Lipstick in Prive, which is a creamy light blue pink and Lipgloss in The Lap Of Luxury, a sheer baby pink with a touch of white and pink pearl.
