Fortele lui Sauron au atacat capitala Gondor din Minas Tirith in asediul suprem asupra omenirii. Pazit de un lord slabit, regatul odinioara maret nu a avut niciodata nevoie mai mare de un rege. Dar va gasi Aragorn taria de a deveni ce i-a fost sortit sa devina si sa-si intampine destinul?
Intrucat Gandalf incearca cu disperare sa mobilizeze fortele distruse din Gondor, Théoden unifica razboinicii din Rohan pentru a se alatura luptei. Desi sunt loiale, curajoase si pasionale, fortele oamenilor – cu Eowyn si cu Merry ascunsi printre ele- nu se pot compara cu legiunea imensa de inamici ce se abate asupra regatului.

Un sacrificiu imens insoteste fiecare victorie. In ciuda pierderilor uriase, Fratia se avanta in cea mai importanta batalie a vietii lor, uniti in scopul unic de a-l distrage pe Sauron si de a-i da lui Frodo o sansa de a-si realiza misiunea.
Calatorind pe taramuri straine, inselatoare, Frodo trebuie sa se bazeze din ce in mai mult pe Sam si pe Gollum, in timp ce Inelul continua sa-i puna la incercare credinta si, in final, umanitatea.

Consideratã de milioanele de cititori din întreaga lume, drept cea mai mare carte de aventuri scrisã vreodatã, trilogia lui J.R.R. Tolkien, “Stãpânul Inelelor”, descrie lupta pentru posesia unui Inel periculos. Dacã el este returnat creatorului sãu, lordul întunericului Sauron, Inelul îi va putea da acestuia puterea de a subjuga lumea.
New Line Cinema prezintã “Stãpânul Inelelor: Cele douã turnuri”, filmul central al lui Peter Jackson din trilogie, o aventurã a binelui împotriva rãului plasatã într-un timp al incertitudinilor, în tinutul Pãmânturilor din Mijloc, a cãrui premierã mondiala avut loc în 18 decembrie 2002.
Trilogia reprezintã o realizare fãrã precedent, cele trei filme au fost realizate simultan în timpul unui an si jumãtate de productie. Primul film din trilogie, ”Stãpânul Inelelor: Frãtia Inelului”, a fost lansat în 19 decembrie 2001 si a realizat peste 860 de milioane de dolari în întreaga lume. Filmul a fost nominalizat la 13 premii Oscar, mai mult decât oricare film lansat în acel an si a câstigat patru premii Oscar, incluzând premiul pentru ”cele mai bune efecte vizuale”.
La sfârsitul pãrtii întâi, datoritã mortii lui Boromir (Sean Bean) si cãderii lui Gandalf într-o grotã din Khazad, componenti frãtiei sunt fortati sã se despartã.
”Stãpânul Inelelor: Cele douã turnuri”, începe pe dealurile din Emyn Muil, unde hobbitul rãtãcit, Frodo (Elijah Wood) si Sam (Sean Astin) descoperã cã au fost urmãriti de misteriosul Gollum (Andy Serkis). O creaturã abilã care era el însusi atras de Inel, Gollum promite sã-i conducã la Portile Negre din Mordor, dacã ei îl vor elibera. Sam nu are încredere în noul tovarãs, dar lui Frodo îi este milã de Gollum.
Traversând Pãmântul din Mijloc, Aragorn (Vigoo Mortensen), arcasul elf Legolas (Orlando Bloom) si piticul Gimli (John Rhys-Davis) ajung la regatul asediat al lui Rohan, al cãrui fost mare rege Theoden (Bernard Hill) cãzuse sub influenta maleficã a lui Saruman, prin intermediul spionului sãu, sinistrul Wormtongue (Brad Dourif). Gandalf (Ian McKellen) renaste ca Gandalf cel Alb si continuã lupta sa distrugãtoare cu Balrog, reamintindu-i lui Aragorn cã destinul sãu este sã uneascã poporul din Rohan cu ultimii sustinãtori ai rezistentei umane, poporul din Gondor.
Ĩntre timp, hobbitii capturati Merry (Dominic Monaghan) si Pippin (Billy Boyd) au evadat, scãpând de Uruk-hai în misterioasa pãdure Fangorn, unde ei descoperã un aliat neasteptat printre copacii seculari, pe Treebeard (Arborebarbos), un copac viu, ce poate merge, a cãrui pãdure a fost decimatã de Saruman.
Ĩn drumurile lor, partenerii frãtiei, vor avea parte de întâmplãri inimaginabile si vor fi martorii puterii nebãnuite a oamenilor lor.
Ĩmpreunã ei vor trebui sã înfrunte puternicele forte ale celor Douã Turnuri, aflate între Turnul Orthanc din Isengard, unde coruptul vrãjitor Saruman a ridicat o armatã puternicã de 10,000 de combatanti si fortãreata lui Sauron din Barad-dur, aflatã pe pãmântul întunecat al Mordor-ului.

Timp de mai multe decenii, cuvintele de mai sus au stârnit imaginatiile si au dat contur viselor a peste 100 de milioane de cititori din întreaga lume. Ele au fost citite prima datã în 1954, când Frãtia Inelului scris de J.R.R. Tolkien, primul volum dintr-o epopee formatã din trei pãrti, Stãpânul Inelelor, a fost publicat.

Acum, legenda scrisã de Tolkien a prins în sfârsit viata sub forma unui film de lung-metraj, un proiect care a avut în spate una dintre cele mai colosale desfãsurãri de forte care a produs vreodatã un film. Miturile, peisajele si creaturile pe care Tolkien le-a creat sunt atât de formidabile încât tehnologiei cinematografice i-au trebuit mai mult de patru decenii sã atingã nivelul necesar de sofisticare pentru a le da viatã. Un asemenea proiect vast avea nevoie de un adevãrat vizionar pentru a-l duce la capãt. Acest vizionar este Peter Jackson, care s-a angajat la o actiune fãrã precedent pentru a realiza trei filme simultan în scopul de a reda în întregime epopeea ambitioasã a lui Tolkien.

Rezultatul a constat în trei filme care vor fi prezentate separat. Aventura începe în 19 Decembrie 2001 cu Frãtia Inelului, care prezintã publicului spectator minunata lume a Pãmântului de Mijloc si pe locuitorii sãi memorabili: oameni, hobbiti, elfi, pitici, vrãjitori, troli si orci.

În aceastã parte a trilogiei tânãrul hobbit timid Frodo Baggins mosteneste un inel; însã acest inel nu este un obiect oarecare. Este Inelul Unic, un instrument al puterii absolute care îi poate permite lui Sauron, Seniorul Tenebrelor din Mordor, sã conducã Pãmântul de Mijloc si sã transforme locuitorii sãi în sclavi. Frodo împreunã cu o frãtie loialã formatã din hobbiti, oameni, un vrãjitor, un pitic si un elf trebuie sã ducã Inelul din Pãmântul de Mijloc la Muntele de Foc, unde a fost forjat prima datã si sã îl distrugã pentru totdeauna. O asemenea cãlãtorie presupune avântarea în teritoriile detinute de Seniorul Tenebrelor, unde îsi adunã armata sa de orci. Iar Frãtia nu se luptã doar cu fortele exterioare ale rãului, ci si cu disensiunile din interior si influenta corupãtoare a Inelului însusi. Cursul istoriei viitoare este dat de destinul Frãtiei.

It’s always hardest to do the middle film in a proposed trilogy of films.

The second film is always the maker or breaker of a franchise. In some of the most successful franchises of all time, the second film has gone on to eclipse its predecessor. Examples of these stellar sequels are series like “Aliens”, “Star Trek”, “Star Wars” and even James Bond.

The hurdle that director and Tolkien visionary Peter Jackson had to endure was making a middle film in his epic trilogy that has neither a beginning or ending. It is like filming a middle chapter of an unfinished novel. In some ways that is exactly what it is.

People expecting a recap of “Fellowship” will be disappointed since Jackson dives straight into the story almost with out pause. The story picks up within seconds of where “Fellowship” left off.

The Fellowship has been split. Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) are off to Mordor to deliver the ring into Mount Doom. Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) are off to save hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) who have been captured by a troop of Orcs.

In the sequel, we find Frodo and Samwise lost in the Misty Mountains as they find themselves striking up a symbiotic friendship and alliance with the waif, Gollum (Andy Serkis). Gollum was driven insane when he possessed the “ring of power” now all he wants is to reclaim his “precious”. Can this creature be trusted or will this creature be the death of Frodo and Sam?

On the other front of the story, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli track their comrades to the kingdom of Mohan where they find a besieged kingdom that is about to overrun by the armies of the evil Saruman (Christopher Lee). A resurrected Gandalf (Ian McKellan) encourages the trio to join with King Theoden (Bernard Hill) to defend Rohan. Theoden leads his people and the trio to the legendary fortress Helm’s Deep where the final confrontation will be waged. Who will survive this battle? Will the fortress of Helm’s Deep fall? What did happen to Merry and Pippin and how will they figure into this chapter?

“Two Towers” is essentially three stories bridging the gap between the beginning and final confrontation with evil.

Jackson understands the scope of Tolkien’s Middle Earth as he finds a unique look for each of the kingdoms seen in this second Tolkien film. Tolkien and his master craftsmen built the castle of Rohan from scratch and etched out the fortress of Helm’s Deep from the walls of a rock quarry. They are truly amazing structures and Jackson uses them with passion and finesse.

The key performance of this film is the wonderful fully-digital Gollum. For once a computerized character seems to have a soul. The performance of the actor beneath the pixels shines through and he is amazing to watch in every frame. There is some humor in Gollum’s madness as he struggles with his loyalties but it’s the scenes where Gollum reacts and does things on his own that are more remarkable than his obvious psychological struggle. You can’t but feel for this misplaced creature.

I always thought that the first film took way to long to build momentum. I also felt the same about the novel. In the second film, Jackson continues the momentum he built in the third act of Fellowship. There are definitely lulls in a film of this length but Jackson never allows his audience to be bored as he delivers new and exciting things to look at in awe. The shame is that there are a lot of these spectacles that take away from the actors.

I continue to sing Viggo Mortensen’s praises in this film as I did the previous one. I also really started to enjoy John Rhys-Davies performances as Gimli the dwarf. I also have always loved the forever creepy actor Brad Dourif and I am positive there is no one out there who could have been as oozy as Brad was playing Grima Wormtongue. I liked Miranda Otto’s damsel Eowyn but I wish there were more meat in the role for this capable actress.

The biggest fault of this part of the epic trilogy is that it is the middle film. There are a lot of signs where the film could have gotten lost but Jackson stayed his course. I am sure that when we finally see the end of this epic journey the middle film will be looked on as a great bridge. There is a lot to be celebrated in this film but for people who aren’t familiar with the material they will be lost.

New Zealand director and visionary Peter Jackson spent over two years of filming time to bring forth the vision created by fantasy guru J.R.R Tolkien. His epic masterpiece was deemed unfilmable in its whole but Jackson’s passion helped him begin an epic quest of his own. The first of three books of Tolkien’s masterpiece is the “Fellowship of the Ring”.

Young Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) is a hobbit. Hobbits are curious little people who live the simple life in a far off pocket known as the Shire in the world known as Middle Earth. Frodo welcomes the wise wizard Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellan) to his town of Hobbiton on the eve of his Uncle Bilbo’s (Ian Holm) 118th birthday. Uncle Bilbo is an adventurer and the most curious of all the hobbits in Hobbiton. But Bilbo hides a secret that could undo the very fabric of Middle Earth itself.

3000 years previous, an evil sorcerer Sauron wielded a “ring” that could destroy armies and bring Middle Earth to its knees. In the wake of that victory, a desperate human general slices off Sauron’s fingers and the ring falls into his hands. The ring is pure evil and it can bring even the strongest man to his knees. The elves plead with the general to destroy the ring but to no avail. Eventually the ring is lost and thought destroyed after the general is killed and over the course of time it falls into Bilbo’s hands. It is this ring that could destroy all of Middle Earth.

Gandalf confronts Bilbo after his birthday party about the ring and Bilbo reluctantly gives it up. Gandalf begins to realize which ring it is and isn’t sure what he must do to destroy it. All he knows is that the powers of darkness are building to reclaim the ring and bring the Dark Lord Sauron back to power.

Eventually Gandalf and the elves develop a nine member fellowship to bring the ring deep into Sauron’s domain and destroy it the fires of Mount Doom. Among that fellowship is Frodo, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Boromir (Sean Bean), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) the dwarf, Legolas (Orlando Bloom) the elf, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) the hobbit, Pippin (Billy Boyd) the hobbit and Samwise (Sean Astin), Frodo’s ever reliable friend. For the next three years we will follow these adventurers through Middle Earth as they embark on their epic quest.

Peter Jackson’s epic storytelling deserves the hype the Hollywood machine has been able to push behind it. From the truly evil monsters to the brilliant sets, “Fellowship” embraces the Tolkien vision with passion. You can tell that this film was created by people who loved the books. There is richness and eye-candy in this film like none seen this year.

The first amazing thing I noticed was how cleverly the film depicts the differences in heights of the hobbits, humans, dwarves and elves. I was always a curious to see if they could pull that feat off. They do it with flawless brilliance. The almost giant Gandalf stumbling around Bilbo’s house and thrilling battles involving a lot of different sized people.

I did love Jackson’s craftsmanship of the creatures in the film. They are utterly brilliant. I liked how each one is something we have never seen before. I loved the Black Riders and the Cave Troll. This troll is the way a troll is supposed to be and he is so more believable than say the troll in “Harry Potter”. I loved the whole troll sequence.

Jackson’s epic beginning isn’t without its faults. It truly is a site to behold if you can handle the enormous running time of 178 minutes. Theatres should acquire “lazy-boys” for this theatric experience. Tolkien’s epic masterpiece was deemed unfilmable because of the tome of content housed in the trilogy. The running time is what deemed it that. For any filmmaker it is truly hard to overcome that challenge. What makes the film’s epic running time bearable at times is the powerful score by Howard Shore. This truly is an amazing piece of filmmaking but even the most brilliant and beautiful can wear out their welcome.

Having heard the books read by my mother and having fond memories of the Ralph Bakshi version of the books, I was puzzled with the film’s depiction of Boromir. For me, Boromir was a valiant, courageous and honorable warrior who dreamed of bringing honor back to his homeland of Gondor. It isn’t until he touches the ring that his honor begins to subside and he begins a conflict of honor and desire. In the books, as I remember, Boromir was the fiercest of the Fellowship and did all he could to protect the ring and the hobbits.

Jackson’s vision of Boromir comes off as a twisted, scheming warrior who has an ulterior motive throughout. Where is the Boromir I knew? I won’t hold this factor against the film because Tolkien characters can be interpreted in different ways. I also had problems with the depiction of Elrond but that could be just me as well.

Jackson’s “Fellowship” is an utterly beautiful beginning and should be commended on a film that delivers on the hype surrounding it. “Fellowship” is all I wanted in the epic telling of the classic quest-story but being so close to the trilogy it wasn’t any more or less than I thought it would be. That truly is a compliment in these days of over-hyped extravaganzas.

Final Note: I would like to make a short statement on how this film is being handled for its release. Some of us in the press core have had a hard time seeing this film and thus the reason for my narrowly early review. I am not laying any blame. In fact I would like to commend the people who worked on the project because of the hype surrounding it has been insane. No vision this extraordinaire should be held back. My question mainly lies in will we be going through this for the next two installments? Tolkien’s vision is about honor and overcoming overwhelming odds shouldn’t we as humans aspire to this vision.

Min enda kulturkonsumtion senaste tiden har varit filmer i genren thriller/rysare, med olika variationer.

Angående Jennifer’s Body så har jag läst att den ska vara “the best teen slasher of the 21st century”. Och Megan Fox är ju alltid het, tänker jag. Men ack så fel på alla sätt. Megan Fox är ganska ohet för att vara Megan Fox. Filmen aspirerar förvisso på att vara en teen slasher men är på tok för snäll i alla avseenden. Det är för lite nakenhet och för lite blod. Man brukar kunna gömma ett halvdant manus i denna genre i just nakenhet och blod, men i detta fall blir det väldigt tydligt att manuset suger. Tjej hoppar in i bil med rockband, offras till satan av nämnda rockband för att de ska bli världsstjärnor, men eftersom hon inte är oskuld så blir hon istället besatt av demon, hälsar på sin bästa kompis och spyr svart gojs på hennes golv så kompisen måste vara uppe hela natten och torka golvet. Och sen börjar hon döda folk också.

Vidare på temat teen slashers, My Bloody Valentine har betydligt mer att komma med. Här kan man verkligen snacka om 2000-talets uppdatering av teen slasher-filmer. För att pricka av checklistan – nakenhet (och sex!): check, blod i massor: check. Vad som är intressant är att man till nästan 100 % använt sig av CGI (halvkass sådan) för filmens splattereffekter, vilket leder till en del ganska spännande sådana, och jag kan bortse från CGIns kvalitet just på grund av att den är så innovativ. Jag blir glad inombords när jag ser en blodblandad käke flyga in i kameran. Inte heller här är manuset någon höjdare, men det gör desto mindre när man har sånt godis att gotta sig i.

Avslutningsvis ska jag belysa en lite modernare skräckhistoria, Strangers. Återigen valde jag att se en skräckfilm på grund av dess kvinnliga huvudrollsinnehavare, Liv Tyler denna gång. Jag har saknat henne under tiden hon fött barn och haft sig, eller vad hon nu har gjort. Jag bör tidigt säga att i extramaterialet nämner regissören att detta inte är en “horror movie” utan snarare en “terror movie”, det finns inga övernaturliga element men den är fruktansvärt obehaglig ändå. Liv Tyler och random male actor spelar ett par som ska spendera en natt i en stuga, då de får nattligt besök av folk som är ute efter att skrämma och döda folk för att det är roligt. Största delen av filmen är väldigt, väldigt effektiv vad det gäller terrormomentet, då den är väldigt obehaglig och suggestiv. Slutet är lite abrupt och tråkigt, som vanligt. Liv Tyler gör en ruggigt stabil skådespelarinsats och räddar random male actors platta prestation. Visst finns det hål i historien och som vanligt fattar karaktärerna dåliga beslut mest hela tiden men det är definitivt en film som får dig att låsa dörren och önska att du kunde barrikadera dina fönster på ett effektivare sätt.

Suspense é um dos gêneros de filme que mais agrada, pois meche muito com a emoção humana, podendo assim provar sua resistência e limites. Muitas vezes o filme põe à prova a resistência dos próprios personagens permitindo ao telespectador se colocar no lugar ou simplesmente querer não está nele. Os Estranhos pode ser citado como esse tipo de filme, o filme assusta, embora a forma como é contado (mais devagar que o que se costuma ver) não cause tanto medo assim.

O filme assusta mais por ser inspirado em fatos reais, é difícil acreditar em tal afirmação após terminar de assistir, mas coisas piores acontecem na vida real e esse torna-se apenas mais um exemplo. O roteiro e direção são de Bryan Bertino, que faz com que os 88 minutos de filmes pareçam horas e horas. No elenco temos Liv Tyler, que faz uma atuação digna de nota, e Scott Speedman, que não é tão excepcional assim.

Na história temos o casal Kristen e James, interpretado por Tyler e Speedman, que chegam à remota casa de veraneio dos pais de James, procurando por descanso devido à noite difícil que tiveram, motivo da desilusão do rapaz, o filme assim já começa com essa tensão causada por sentimentos conturbados dessa relação amorosa. Eles são perturbados pela aparição de três estranhos misteriosos e mascarados. O que eles querem? Matá-los ou só fazê-los sofrer? Os estranhos aparentemente possuem um prazer doentio em atormentar o casal, colocando-os no limite da sobrevivência, instigando atitudes impensadas e aflorando seus instintos. O motivo que leva os mascarados a praticarem tais atos está implícito por todo o roteiro, mas é revelado desnecessariamente ao final.

Se o filme busca mostrar atitudes humanas neste tipo de situação, acaba conseguindo êxito. Porém o diretor ainda usa de situações batidas em filmes do gênero como, por exemplo, quando James por susto mata o amigo, confundindo-o com um dos estranhos. O filme acerta em não revelar a identidade dos estranhos, pois gera uma certa tensão em quem assiste por não ter suas curiosidades reveladas, se bem que decepcionará alguns. O final como já disse, não é dos melhores, com explicações desnecessárias e um desfecho não tão esclarecido assim, terminado com a continuação da cena que inicia o filme.

La segunda parte de la monumental adaptación a la pantalla de la obra de J.R.R. Tolkien por Peter Jackson y su equipo da comienzo en el punto en que la Comunidad del Anillo se disuelve: Frodo y Sam siguen su camino hacia Mordor, Merry y Pipin han caído prisioneros de los orcos de Sauron, y Aragorn, Legolas y Gimli, dejando a los pequeños portadores del anillo que encuentren su propio destino, van tras los cautivos para liberarlos, mientras Sauron y su aliado Saruman siguen acumulando fuerzas con las que aplastar a las razas libres de la Tierra Media, desunidas y parapetadas tras sus débiles defensas…

Tras el impactante efecto sorpresa de la primera entrega, Las dos torres ofrece más de lo mismo (pero peor) en la forma, aunque empieza la decadencia en cuanto al fondo. Como dijimos en su momento en esta misma sección, a medida que la trilogía avanza, sus grandes virtudes se van poco a poco diluyendo y los pequeños inconvenientes del primer capítulo, minimizados ante la grandiosidad del conjunto, van creciendo hasta poco a poco adueñarse de este puente hacia la conclusión. El problema, precisamente, es la entrega incondicional a la espectacularidad de las formas y el paulatino descuido de unas, ya de por sí, demasiado elementales, lineales, esquemáticas cuestiones de fondo (personajes, psicología, motivaciones, reacciones ante los hechos…) siguiendo, obviamente, las pautas marcadas por Tolkien pero haciendo que la película, exactamente igual que su antecesora y su continuación, dependa en exclusiva de los conocimientos previos del espectador sobre la obra literaria a fin de que pueda entender la lógica de acontecimientos y personajes, sin que se trate de un producto cinematográfico autónomo. A ello no es ajena la introducción de las grandes batallas y de las escenas de acción propias de la historia en las que la entrega a la espectacularidad es total, y en las que se desvirtúan algunos logros de la primera parte. Por ejemplo, donde hay un ingente esfuerzo por utilizar el maquillaje y la caracterización para la construcción de las diversas criaturas “no humanas” y de ambientación y dirección artística para los espacios, comienza a haber demasiada labor de computadora a fin de recrear enormes ejércitos en movimiento, espacios abiertos o decorados en los que transcurran los combates, auténticamente de videojuego por más espectaculares que sean, y también en el momento de provocar un buen número de efectos de la violencia sobre individuos y objetos. La batalla principal es tan grandiosa como artificiosa, con algún que otro guiño que supera lo humorístico para adentrarse en lo ridículo, completamente fuera del tono general de la historia, y las múltiples y complejas tramas paralelas que como un mosaico van salpicando la narración y cambiando el punto de interés y de tensión a cada momento, unidas a la excesiva duración del film, hacen que el ritmo vaya desde la lentitud más extrema al servicio del crecimiento de una tensión no siempre lograda (porque hay que entender que al igual que se depende del libro para presuponer aspectos de los personajes el espectador ya conoce el desenlace de los hechos sobre los que se pretende cargar emoción) hasta la vertiginosa sucesión de acontecimientos acelerados que siembran la película de altibajos y lagunas de emoción.

El problema es que la ingenuidad y expectación del discurso de la primera parte se torna aquí en una oda a las imágenes animadas desprovistas de discurso de cualquier tipo o, lo que es peor, intentando alcanzar la sublimidad de ciertos mensajes a través de la mera repetición de frases y situaciones pretendidamente trascendentes y decisivas (cuando, insistimos, el lector de Tolkien, espectador a quien va dirigida la película, no como intención, pero sí como construcción, ya sabe qué va a pasar y qué no) pero que, a través de ese culto a lo entendido como modernidad e innovación visuales, son en el fondo de una emotividad vacía, de una emoción nula, sin una aventura real, sin un riesgo o un peligro que realmente cruce al otro lado de la pantalla, sin unos personajes vivos por los que podamos sentir una empatía que vaya más allá de lo que los personajes dicen representar, sin llegar a sentir algo por los personajes en sí.

La película acumula historias que transcurren de manera paralela pero no por ello gana en solidez, muy al contrario, es una forma de perder pulso, de deshilvanar un puzzle que en la primera entrega había quedado ensamblado de manera aceptable. Se vuelve facilona, vulgar, reiterativa, simple y lineal, por más que visualmente pretenda todo lo contrario, resultar majestuosa, abigarrada, rica, espectacular; busca enganchar por la belleza y el impacto de imágenes grandilocuentes, olvidándose de atraparnos por el cariz de los acontecimientos que cuenta, y es ahí donde, a pesar de que engancha y obliga a seguirla, apuesta por explotar los elementos más pobres y simplones del lenguaje cinematográfico y busca convencer a través de algo, en el fondo, tan fácil como es apabullar, embaucar por aplastamiento.

Habiendo alcanzado así la trilogía la cúspide de lo que podía ofrecer, buena parte de esta segunda entrega y toda la tercera parte son un lento caer hacia la superficialidad en el discurso y el tributo a las formas animadas por ordenador en detrimento de la historia misma, al metraje excesivo en la creencia de que la mejor adaptación es la que cuenta todo (ya dijo Voltaire que el secreto de aburrir consiste en decirlo todo), de que a más, siempre es mejor. Y el cine nos ha dado gran cantidad de muestras, seguramente las mejores, de que lo mejor suele ser siempre lo contrario.

Maybe you’ve heard, but there’s a rumour going around that Steven Tyler is leaving Aerosmith. There are even crazy polls about it on Facebook – who should take his place? Blasphemy!! Anyway, I have a BK (Before Kids) story about the grand Mr. Steven Tyler. It’s not that funny, but who cares? It’s about Steven Tyler! All it has to be is sexy!!!!

I know, I know,,,not everyone thinks Steven Tyler is sexy,,,but those people tend to be really stupid and we’re better off ignoring them.

(Disclaimer: This is going to be one of those posts where all you’re going to do is roll your eyes a lot and say, “Ew! Ew! Ew!” but don’t hold it against me – the truth hurts. <—- See? That in itself was worth at least 1 eye roll and I’m going to say about two “Ew!”s)

And so, the story goes….a few years ago (2003) my amazing fashion designer friend Kathlin Argiro was invited to the Costume Institute Gala at the Met. It was the year they did ” The Goddesses” and she had this AMAZING dress that she wanted me to wear to showcase her talents. I really need a link to that thing – it was fantastic. So, there we were being all Goddess-y in a sea of 800 other Goddsy and Goddess-y people when Steven Tyler walked by (!!!!!).

We locked eyes.

He looked me up and down and said, “Well, hello!”. I replied in kind all the while screaming in my head “OH MY GOD!!!! STEVEN TYLER IS TOTALLY HITTING ON ME!!!!!!”. As he sauntered past I had to lean on poor Kathlin for support. I spent the rest of the night screaming in my head “OH MY GOD!!!!! STEVEN TYLER TOTALLY HIT ON ME!!!”.

See, I’m not actually one to get star-struck. I’ve met and hung out with plenty of famous people – never been a big deal…but Steven Tyler?? You mean, I could have been Liv Tyler’s Stepmom?? Whoa…that’s some deep shit right there. Well, bull shit actually because you know Steven Tyler wasn’t coming back for me, but whatev’ …a girl can dream, right? I mean…in the limo to my high school Formal (we call them “Formals” in Canada, not “Proms”) we played “Janie’s Got A Gun” the ENTIRE WAY THERE!!! This guy has HISTORY with me!!!

So, as the time approached that the taxi line was about to turn into a pumpkin patch, I made my way home.

There was Jimmy happily slumbering away, completely ignorant of my night’s events. As I got into bed and snuggled over to my future husband I whispered in his ear, “You almost lost me to Steven Tyler tonight, but I came home to you.” to which he replied, “Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz”.

Looks like it could be the end of an era (again).

Comments made to the media recently by Aerosmith band members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are casting doubt on the band’s future.

I’ve heard this before so I’ll wait until I hear actual confirmation.

Perry told the Las Vegas Sun today that he believes Tyler is history.

“Steven quit as far as I can tell,” Perry said from his Boston home. “I don’t know anymore than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”

Part of the problem, he says, is that Tyler doesn’t return his phone calls.

“He’s notorious for that,” Perry said. “That’s one thing I’ve learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles. Frankly, the last few months I’ve been wanting not to rock the boat. I don’t want him canceling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We just kind of didn’t want to call him out or anything and get him anymore pissed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie. So we did the gigs and, like I said, I got off the plane and saw this online. That’s how I know about it.”

The lead guitarist with one of America’s most successful rock groups said on Monday that he and his bandmates were “positively looking for a new singer to work with,” following a rift with energetic frontman Steven Tyler.

Joe Perry, 59, made the announcement on his Twitter page, ratcheting up an unusually public feud with his songwriting partner of 40 years.

The duo, dubbed the “Toxic Twins” for their hard-living days of yore, wrote such classic-rock staples as “Walk this Way” and “Love in an Elevator.” Their musical relationship has been likened to that of their role models, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones.

But Tyler, 61, recently said he wants to concentrate on solo endeavors, a claim he has made in the past but never followed through on. He also stopped communicating with the rest of the band several months ago, and hired his own manager.

Perry told Reuters last month that Tyler has refused to write a song with him for a decade. More recently, Perry said that the last time he phoned Tyler, the singer hung up on him.

Rumors have been swirling that iconic frontman Steven Tyler has parted ways with Aerosmith, bringing to a close a musical partnership that spanned four decades, created dozens of rock-radio anthems, and moved something north of 150 million albums worldwide.

The source of those rumors — which, at press time, reps for the band had not responded to — seems to be a pair of recent interviews given by Aerosmith’s two most visible members: guitarist Joe Perry and Tyler himself.

In a piece published by The Las Vegas Sun on Friday, Perry said that Tyler had quit the band following a recent concert in Abu Dhabi, though he didn’t seem to know the reasoning behind the decision.

Mr. Perry was responding to remarks that Mr. Tyler made in an interview with Classic Rock, a British music magazine, in which Mr. Tyler said that he was preparing to focus on a solo career. “I don’t know what I’m doing yet,” Mr. Tyler said, “but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler.”

Mr. Perry said he had had difficulty confirming this with Mr. Tyler because the singer doesn’t return his phone calls. “He’s notorious for that,” Mr. Perry told The Sun. “That’s one thing I’ve learned to live with. I try to overlook it.”

Thursday, Gap created additional interest in the Holiday collection when they opened the doors of the exclusive Stella McCartney for GapKids Pop-Up Store. Guests included Gap top brass and Liv Tyler, pictured above.

It stays open until Saturday, November 28.

The collection officially launched earlier this week in select GapKids and babyGap stores nationwide, online at Gap.com and at Gap’s 5th Avenue concept store in New York City.

I was very shy as a child (a trait I still have today) and could barely order food for myself when I went out to dinner. Luckily my step mother helped me to break out of my shell a little bit and become more assertive. My childhood was happy and filled with love, family, and lots of pets.

J-Mys had some when she was engaged to Senor R way back in the day (just saw J-Mys this weekend for the first time since my wedding day, it was really good and she looked beautiful, blonder but still gorge) and those ferrets stank up the whole upstairs of their house. Grody to the max.

New York Comic-Con 2007

Ms. Taylor lives in Los Angeles now, despite her claim of disliking it. (Also, she is now 32.) But she does find time to travel back to the East Coast for special appearances. Here she is a couple years ago at the NYC Comic-Con with some lucky stormtroopers. Dude, I seriously love that picture so much. That’s one of the best I’ve seen of a playmate in present action yet.

Pra não dizer que mulheres não são boas, estou fazendo a versão feminina da minha lista “Os 10 melhores atores“. Como já disse, melhor não quer dizer “mais bonita”, então não fiquem achando que vão aparecer gatonas aqui – claro que algumas são realmente bonitas, mas nem todas.

10 – Evanna Lynch. Essa mocinha é muito interessante, ao meu ver. Saindo de apenas uma garotinha estranha que adorava Harry Potter para uma atriz estranha que adora Harry Potter e que interpreta uma personagem estranha em Harry Potter, Evanna mostrou todo o seu talento como atriz atuando como a digníssima Luna Lovegood, em Harry Potter e a Ordem da Fênix, e em Harry Potter e o Enigma do Príncipe. Tendo um rosto exótico e uma beleza única, Evanna cativou milhões de espectadores – pelo menos EU – com seu jeitinho meigo e carismático.

9 – Julia Stiles. Adoro essa garota. A primeira vez que a vi foi no super conhecido “10 Coisas que odeio em você”, com o perfeito – que Deus o tenha – Heath Ledger. Ela tem um jeito de atuar tão singelo e único, e ela tem uma expressão tão perfeita que você se sente no lugar dela em quase todos os papéis que a mocinha interpreta. Sim, eu tiro meu chapéu para Julia Stiles.

8 – Maggie Smith. Desde que assiti “O Jardim Secreto” amo essa senhora. Muito boa atriz, impressiona com seus trejeitos, sua expressão decidida, seus papéis sempre são firmes e, na minha opinião, ela os executa com precisão e vontade. Ficou mundialmente famosa como a Professora Mcgonagal, de – onde, mesmo? – Harry Potter, e, como em todos os seus papéis, mostrou que pode ser a melhor, mesmo num papel tão simples.

7 – Meryl Streep. Uma mulher que dou valor. Não assisti muitos filmes com ela, mas é incrível como ela consegue interpretar qualquer papel sem perder a pose. Hoje, ao pensar em fashion, você pensa em Meryl, depois de “O diabo veste prada”. A mulher é um gênio, e também uma das minhas atrizes favoritas, mesmo loira, cantora, tirana ou desesperada, Meryl é uma das melhores. Ah, se é.

6 – Drew Barrymore. Quem não gosta da Drew? Ela é bonita, simpática, tem um sorriso meigo e gentil, e ela atuou em E.T. É, a menininha loirinha e linda É a Drew Barrymore com 6 anos. Além desse filme super legal, a Drew tbm atuou em “As Panteras”, o que a deixou BEM famosa, já que o filme foi um arraso. Adoro a Drew simplesmente porque ela é uma boa atriz, trata as pessoas bem, é fofa e ainda por cima atuou em E.T. A Drew merece a lista, merece sim.

5 – Renee Zellweger. Sim, todos que assistiram “O diário de Bridget Jones” amam a Renee. Aqueles que assistiram “A Enfermeira Betty” também. E, incrivelmente, quem assistiu “Jerry Maguire” também! Então, a Renee tem que ser uma atriz boa, não é verdade? Eu acho que sim. A Renee é uma ótima atriz, que faz sacrificios para fazer um bom filme. Vê a Renee magrinha ai? Pois é, ela teve que engordar MUITO para fazer a nossa querida Bridget. É por isso que ela boa, porque tem que ser muito boa pra agradar todo mundo mesmo sendo gordinha. :*

4 – Molly Ringwald. Chegou a vez da ícone teen anos 80, Molly! Pra quem assistiu “A garota de rosa shocking”, “O Clube dos Cinco”, ou qualquer outro filme que essa moça tenha feito, com certeza gostou – e eu estou falando das meninas, nessa hora. A Molly era o tipo de garota que TODA menina queria ser. Criativa, decidida, e às vezes impulsiva, suas personagens sempre caracterizavam as adolescentes, ou o que elas queriam ser. A Molly ainda é atriz, claro, e lógico, ainda é MUITO boa, mas nunca, nunca vai deixar de ser nossa querida “Claire”

3 – Nicole Kidman. A super Nicole. Essa mulher, definitivamente, não existe. Não é possível que uma mulher seja tão boa atriz, tão bonita e tão … incrível. Um de meus filmes preferidos que a senhorita Kidman atuou foi o famosíssimo Moulin Rouge, onde a mesma interpreta uma prostituta que deseja ser atriz e se apaixona por um escritor. Recentemente, fez outro filme maravilhoso com o maravilhoso Hugh Jackman, chamado Australia. Muito bom, o que só mostra que ela é genial.

2 – Anne Hathaway. Fofa demais. Anne conseguiu fazer, com seu primeiro papel mais famoso, que todo mundo lhe adorasse. Ao interpretar a princesa Mia em O Diário da Princesa, uma legião de meninas desejou ser ela, enquanto outra de meninos desejou TER ela. Ou ser, quem sabe. O fato é que, mesmo depois disso, Anne ainda fez outro filme de estrondoso sucesso, o já dito “O diabo veste prada”. Sempre linda e perfeita, suas personagens são sempre interessantes e divertidas. Sim, a Anne, na minha opinião, merece o segundo lugar.

1 – Liv Tyler. Finalmente, minha diva. Todos aqui que frequentam o blog sabem que amo a Liv. Ela é uma ótima atriz, é linda, e apesar de estar meio gordinha ultimamente, ainda assim é uma moça muito bem apessoada. Depois de fazer muitos filmes que não a mostraram para o mundo, Liv despontou como a querida Arwen Undómiel, em Senhor dos Anéis. Como o esperado, Liv não decepcionou e mostrou que era uma atriz excelente e que se tornou uma das mais amadas atrizes de quase todo nerd.
