Thanks to Alan Urech for this info – thought all of my fellow Atlanta Startup Weekend alumni might find this interesting:

The MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta is now accepting applications from start-up companies who would like to participate in their January 13, 2010 Run It By The Pros workshop.

During this MIT Enterprise Forum event four companies will be given the opportunity to present their “ten minute pitch” to a volunteer pro panel made up of representatives from the Atlanta start up community, including an investor, serial entrepreneur and lawyer. After the presentation and panel feedback, the audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the pitch and company.

There is no cost for the selected presenters to participate in this event. The workshop will be held from 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the law offices of Sutherland, located at 999 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia, 30309. The judging criteria and an application are attached.

The deadline to submit your application and Executive Summary for consideration is Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12 noon. Both documents are required to complete your application and should be sent to virginia@mitforum-atlanta.org. [not me I put a copy of the application form and guidelines here: http://drop.io/davidscohen ]

Please forward this announcement to anyone who you feel has an interest in application. I’ve attended a few of these and if you get accepted be ready to be put under the microscope, but it can really sharpen up your investor presentation.

The French & Belgian EBM communities are quite tight and tend to stick to the “roots” of the Electronic Body Music sound. Void Kampf does exactly that, and keep the “Body” in EBM as any fan that attended a live performance can attest to. In January 2010, Void Kampf will release their powerful sound on the world with the album, “Severe Mais Juste”.

The album will contain 14 original tracks, 6 remixes. Guest re-mixers will include; Signal Aout 42, Darkmen, Steril, Autodafeh, & K-Bereit. Over an hour of music, this album is sure to hit the dance floors hard with their clean, well produced electronics and aggressive vocals and a Void Kampf attitude.

The new album by Autodafeh “Identity Unknown” will be released by Sigsaly Transmissions in late February 2010. The album includes contributions by Xian Austin (Hardwire), Claus Larsen (Leaether Strip), and remixes by Daniel Bressanutti (Front 242). The album will contain 12 original track and two additional remixes by Daniel B.

Since their debut album “Hunt For Glory” was release in the summer of 2008, this Swedish trio has found themselves pushed to the forefront of today’s electronic scene. They have been requested by and performing for fans from their home country (opening for Front 242), Italy, Belgium, France, Germany, and Poland to name a few. This past summer the band released a pseudo-tribute to “old-school” electronic with the release of the EP, “re:lectro”. Once again, the band found themselves on top of the charts and highly requested on the dance floors.

So far, it appears 2010 will be even busier than the last. The new album is highly anticipated, and the band has many requests for live shows.

The Belgian duo NTRSN have completed their new full-length album. The Album is now in the process of review and manufacturing, and a release date should be announced soon. It is expected to hit the streets by late December or Early January 2010.

The album, called “People Like Gods” is their debut album. It promised to deliver both old-school electronic sounds that only can be heard by utilizing 100% analog equipment. And yet, NTRSN delivers a sound that is still very current and modern. Also included on this release is support by Maurizo Fasolo (Pankow) and Peter Van Bogaert (Liquid-G).

Collective V2 was a big success. For those of you who were cheering us on from the crowd, or thinking us us from afar, thank you for your continued support as we presented our latest inspirations in hair, fashion, music and most of all our thoughts on education.

This year in color we featured a mixed palette of tones and techniques ranging from apricot, pastels and classic sunny blonde balayage to vibrant reds and cool brown palettes. Paired with all white and gold fashions the hair color became the focal point, while showing texture with fringe.

For our cutting segment we were inspired by vibrant colors and textures in tribal street wear and the individual. Our shapes expressed graphic outlines and soft interiors, working with expanding the natural texture and observing growth patterns.

Lastly in our styling segment we took inspiration from vintage glamour and paired it with contemporary textures and finishes by shifting balances and mixing matte, pleated textures and smooth high-gloss shapes.

Thank you to everyone that made this show happen, your support is much appreciated. Decor placement is key. These vignettes were designed for 360 degree visibility, using floor to ceiling fabric to create scale. ShowTec’s designers kept sight lines intact but maximized impact by positioning the decor within the seating area. A lux spa-like atmosphere was carried throughout the space with these pods of organic Zen-inspired foliage, rice paper screens and cascading chiffon columns. The illuminated fabric changed color with each course, creating a kinetic dining experience that established depth, texture and mood. An inventive lighting design with only a few lighting fixtures helped stretch the budget without sacrificing visual appeal.

Today I decided to try something new… My first al fresco blog post. We’ve had such lovely weather lately in Atlanta that I couldn’t bear to stay cooped up inside. Thank goodness for smartphones (although my thumbspeed is fairly abysmal).

I have no grand observations for you today nor any grand ambitions to sprain my thumbs pecking out War and Peace 2.0. However I will lob this over the fence: I believe that being successful means being yourself and that in turn means you need to know a little bit about what makes yourself tick. Right now I can think of no measure of success greater than enjoying a beautiful afternoon in the park with Julie and our bunny (Mr. Bialy). No doubt I will be using a different yardstick tomorrow, but for today I have my full measure.

This is what you get with a google image search for "Werewolf Birthday" I turned 28 yester

This is what you get with a google image search for "Werewolf Birthday"

I turned 28 yesterday, and while my real world kind of sucked (5 hours of driving for a 2 hour meeting, then class last night), my virtual world was great. Mythic and Cryptic decided that in celebration of my birth, they were going to bring the awesome as presents. Champions Online saw the release of Blood Moon Rising and Warhammer saw the fix to flipping a city to stage 2 brought about. I did get to play both for a short amount of time last night before my head hit the pillow, and the results were interesting.

The game I jumped on first was WAR. I was giddy with excitement to see all the guaranteed battle-royales going on as both sides try to get into the other’s city. Sure as shit stinks, Order and Destruction had each pushed one of the racial pairings to the enemy home-town. The result was an entire servers T4 population dumped into one zone: Dragonwake. There was only myself, and a guilds healer on, so we went poking about to the west keep, to see if we could find some destro to kill, since the maps showed about eight large hotspots all right on top of each other. We ran up the switchbacks, to the front of the keep, and realized my ability was stuck on the end of the build up.

Zone crash. Racial pairing crash, all the way to tier 1. The Warrior Priest I was with was able to relog, but got pushed to Empire Tier 1, my Shadow Warrior couldn’t get back in at all. This ended my WAR fun for the night, I had other toys to play with. That said, word is Destro ended up getting into Altdorf, but was kept from stage 2.

Champions was a far more successful use of my time than WAR was. I saw on the home page that a free retcon had been given to all characters, so I was more than happy to check that out. But first, I saw two new interesting icons on the map of the Southwest Desert where Three last logged off after doing a nemesis mission. I flew to the closest one, and found a giant Werewolf with an ! over his head. Event quest! There were two possible quests to do, both required use of an amulet that turned you into a werewolf, and gave you a set of six custom powers, and removed access to your own. The first quest was to kill a small number of NPC “hunters” (they looked almost identical to Witch Hunters, hats and all). The observant reader might be wondering why I specifically used the term NPC in what is essentially a PvE game, well, because you get a quest to kill 100 player hunters.

The PvP as a werewolf was actually really fun, there were packs and packs of werewolves all charging down a funneled area toward the spawn of the Hunters, frothing for kills. The battles were great in delivering the feel of swarm of lycanthropes attacking righteous assassins. There was even a howl ability that helped other wolves around you, and the more that howled with you, the more powerful you all got. After a little while fighting, I noticed that the top and bottom of my screen was getting letterboxed by an amorphous, dark-greyish-green mist. Three the Werewolf was becoming enraged. The longer I fought, the nastier I became, and my character model started to become covered in green globules. Of course, next thing I knew, I was dead. Still, the fighting was fun in a very zero-consequence sort of way. I would rush to the fight, kill some bitches, die, then rush back again. Pure slaughter, and I loved every second. I stuck around after finishing the werewolf portion long enough to confirm that the quests are duplicated for the hunter side. Maybe I’ll get to that later today.

If you get the chance, check the games out, it’s good stuff.

“The same procedure as every year” Am 22.Oktober war es mal wieder soweit.

Super Klasse! Der Typ ist der helle Wanhsinn! Sympathie 200%!

Auf die Expeditionsdoku “Ausgesetzt” habe ich mich ebenfalls im Vorfeld schon gefreut. Geniale Eindrücke Mega Landschaft, Sensationelle Bilder!

Positiv überrascht hat mich “The Longest Way” (auch lässige Ska Musik)

und dann der Film
mit Danny MacAskill und einem weiteren “Wahninns Song”:

The new Live Event for WAR hit one day earlier than expect yesterday. I logged on last night played

The new Live Event for WAR hit one day earlier than expect yesterday. I logged on last night played it up and down and was hoping to make my first ever Live Event guide. But alas, there is no point. Garrawarr’s post is a perfect as you can make it. If you want to know everything you can about the event read it here:

http://gaarawarrgabs.wordpress.com/2009/10/22/daemon-moon-rising-live-event-guide/#more-1313

But I don’t do guides anyways. I do criticism., cause I am an asshole. What would you expect from a blog called Mr. Meh? Nothing less.

Out of all the events so far, I like this one the most. Not only are the rewards, actually rewards, but the objectives are quite festive and ones that everyone seems to enjoy doing. With the recently fixed Scenario queue issue resolved, we can all just jump right into the High Pass Scenario and live it up. Or rather, die it up. As that’s all that seemed to happen last night. The problem with the mask in this years’ event, they actually have abilities, but with massive cooldowns. So DPS, like my White Lion can issue some seriously close to instant kills. And received them too, seemingly more than I dished it seemed. But at certain points I just felt .. ’this is a healer nightmare.’ How can you heal something taking 4,000 dps? It was just near impossible. I take that back, it was impossible.

I started the night on my Warrior Priest and just couldn’t take it. Instant death after instant death. And I am a hard cookie. With a 42% Disrupt rating along with Armor and Toughness I have been the last man standing in almost all whipes. And in rare cases I have been the single man that raised back the whole army for a win. That Moral 4 is nice, but only in one case scenario. But last night, I am nothing. I’m not tough, I’m not healing fast enough, and I think my cooldowns for respawn were longer then the amount of time I spent alive. Not once did I accomplish over 2K renown in a SC. In some, I can’t kill and no one else is; a couple of times I didn’t even break 1k. WTF!

Screw it, if we are going to lose every single time, then I atleast want to kill one thing. I logoff my WP and log back in Kauyon, my semi-retired White Lion. Man, oh man, what fun. With a Plague Mask or even better the Gobo Mask, I am just downright … destructive. No wonder I couldn’t stay alive as a healer, they have no place in this event. It’s all out DPS, whoever’s fingers are faster is king. I know I made some Squig Herders and Magi lives hell last night. Even in the fray I would just Fetch them right out.

I’m sure they were screaming “why me?”, everytime. “Why? Why? There are healers to kill, why is he running past zealots and getting me?”

Here is the answer: It’s only a short amount of time before one of you Sorcs or Choppas notice me, I don’t have time for your healer, I’m not here for the 500 point win anymore, I want kills and I want Renown. You will die in 2 seconds, the zealot will take 5. I may not have that kind of time, unless I do, then they will die too. But you are first. Sorry.

So though I enjoyed my time, it really sucked as a healer or squishy. In that respect, I think Mythic made it hard for certain players in this event. If I didn’t have alts, I would have gone into a nerd rage frenzy. I couldn’t have taken it. And I’m sure that happened to a great deal of players last night. By midnight, I didn’t see more than one healer at a time in a Scenario on both sides. How many were alt changes, how many were rage quits?

Besides what I see as imbalances in Scenarios, I’m not … ecstatic that Mythic went from the Witching Night to the Daemon Moon Rising lore. Why not have repeating events yearly? It ties right into the ‘real’ world’s holidays. Not to mention the run off of Death Night (retitled Witching for the game) is perfect lore from the actual Warhammer World. An event in which the Witch Elves terrorize the streets about the Dark Elf kingdom in celebration of the Murder God, Khaine. It’s so twisted from the point of Hallowe’en, that you just gotta love it. I’m not quite sure why Mythic would go with this Khorne based event. My guess is they had graphics for a Bezerker Lord Boss they just had to use.

I personally would have loved this event in particular to stay a yearly tradition for the end of October. That’s my peace there that it wasn’t name Death/Witching Night.

The only other criticism I have is the one event /DRINK to each class in Altdorf/IC. I have the rage of a teenager to just drive a couple minutes to Reston and start kicking Mythic’s entire staff in the nuts. If it is a girl, it the ovaries. No biases for this nerd rage act. First of all, emote events are stupid. STUPID I say! Seeing that you don’t really have any emotes surprisingly for a game that you mainly get subscriptions from fanboys and fanatics of the Warhammer Lore, I still can’t get how that happened. When in developement for the game. The list for what to do should have been:

Make Terrain
Make Classes
Code Emotes
Design Armor

Too late now. But just pointing out the obvious oversight to a game strictly popular due to table top nerds. So making an event task to point out further more how you failed to give us the emotes is beyond …. moronic. To further rub sand and salt into our wounds, you make us do it to each class. Do you know how hard it is to find a Witch Hunter, let alone in Altdorf? You nerfed ‘em, they ain’t around no more. I’m not sure that I am just mad you limited it to Altdorf or that you yet again made an emote task for a Live Event despite the overwhelming useless-ness of it all. And that’s all there is to say.

Beyond my nerd rage is some advice. One of your task in the Live Event is to go kill 50 Daemons. I can’t tell you how many toons I saw right outside the Chaos Waste Camp in that spreadout PQ looking for Blood Letters. The easiest and faster way to do the task as Order is to fly to Nordland, travel down the road to Chapter 2, and then on to the Burning Windmill. On graphic settings on high, you can see the PQ from the flight master. The PQ is nothing but a first stage of Flamers. 50 of them to be precise. Perfect. In 2 minutes you will be one grind of the Event closer to completion.

Cheers and blood, the Nights of Death are on us all,

The time is upon us!

That’s right, it’s time for another Halloween Live Event in Warhammer Online.

As always, I’ll be writing the majority of this from the Order side of things. However, I’ll do my best to fill in the Destruction information as I can. If anyone knows of a Destro blogger that puts this kind of guide up, let me know and I’ll happily link to them for better coverage for all you Destro out there!

I will do my best to update the information as quickly as possible as it becomes available and as I get a break from playing.

Have fun!

~Gaar

Cool winds blow across the empty fields of Reikland, wiping away the memory of sun-bleached grains and summer days. Thoughts turn now to the long, bleak nights of the coming winter, and the foreboding darkness that accompanies the death of another year. The sickly green visage of the Chaos moon begins to flicker and change, and the superstitious people of the world hide themselves away behind locked doors, and pray not to fall prey to the foul terrors of the Daemon Moon.

Now, with the war in full swing, the horrors of the Daemon Moon are worse than ever. Malevolent creatures borne out of the fabric of Chaos itself descend upon the world like daemon locusts, intent upon devouring the souls of every living creature they encounter.

The Daemon Moon shines its baleful light down upon the world. The screams of countless tortured victims mingle with the howls of their daemonic tormentors. Who will stand against the hordes of Chaos?

The sickly visage of Morrslieb reigns over the sky, leering down at the Old World. Daemons roam the night as the barrier between this world and the Chaos realms thins and tears and the Northern eye stretches past the Chaos Wastes, to encompass all lands in madness.

Earn influence by slaying Daemons and enemies. Claim battlefield objectives for your Realm, and enter the foreboding High Pass Cemetery, if you dare!

Basic Reward – Fiendfang - This buff lasts for 3 in-game days and grants a 10% bonus to XP, Renown, Damage and incoming healing. (Completing two tasks is enough influence to receive the Basic Reward.)

Advanced Reward – Meatcleaver’s Mask – Daemon Moon Rising Mask 6 of 8, Gain ability: Pain and Pleasure (Completing four total tasks is enough influence to receive the Advanced Reward.)

Elite Reward – Malleus Daemonarium – Event Slot Item with roughly 60-day timer at max (Completing eight total tasks will max your influence for the Elite Reward.)

The Live Event Herald for Order is named Lector Gadsby and is located at (28280, 31494) by the Flight Master in Altdorf. The Live Event Herald for Destruction is named Tallas Deathmonger and is located at (XX) by the Flight Master in the Inevitable City.

General Information

The Daemon Moon Rising Live Event started on October 22nd (a day earlier than announced) and will last until the morning of November 2nd. As usual, there are Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 versions of what needs to be done and where things are located. Use the red circles on your map as guides and if that fails, ask in region or check this guide for location coordinates.

Face-Eater’s Mask – Mask 8 of 8 – Goreslake the Bloodthirster PQ Gold Bag

Daemon Mask Abilities

Each mask grants a different ability while wearing it for the duration of the Live Event. These show up as clickable abilities similar to the Zealot/Rune Priest buffs. Some are better than others. Here’s the list:

Introspection (Delicate Silver Mask) – While the Daemon Moon is risen, instantly grants you a full Morale bar. (10 minute cooldown)

Fixating Gaze (Gaping Skull Mask) – (Only usable on Allied Players) While the Daemon Moon is Risen, the target of this ability will be immune to damage from normal damaging abilities for the next 10 seconds. This effect will end if the caster is interrupted before the duration is over. Target can only be affected by one Fixating Gaze every 2 minutes. (10 second cast, 10 minute cooldown)

Rain of Squigs (Leather Mask of the Gobbo) – An area 30 feet around the feet of your target is infused with the power of Squigs for 20 seconds. Your enemies will suffer 120 damage every 2 seconds while they are within the area. (10 minute cooldown)

Plague (Face of the Unborn) – While the Daemon Moon is risen, instills a plague on the target dealing 1200 damage over the next 10 seconds, then spreads to another target within 65 feet. The ability will spread a total of 5 times after the initial application. (10 minute cooldown)

Unstable Change (Leather Face) – Passive bonus is: While the Daemon Moon is risen, each ability activation will increase damage done and healing done by 2%. Stackable up to 5 times. Clickable ability is: While the Daemon Moon is risen, you release your built up Coming Change power and applies the bonuses to everyone within 30 feet. (10 minute cooldown)

Bloodletter Frenzy (Mask of the Bloodletter) – Info coming soon!

Pain and Pleasure (Meatcleaver’s Mask) – While the Daemon Moon is risen, afflicts the target with an aura of seductive energy for the next 10 seconds, after the duration elapses deals 1200 damage to targets within 30 feet and heals targets within 30 feet of the caster for 1800 health. (10 minute cooldown)

Hellfire (Face-Eater’s Mask) – Passive bonus is: While the Daemon Moon is risen, each attack that deals critical damage will increase critical chance by 2%. Stackable up to 5 times. Clickable ability is: While the Daemon Moon is risen, you sacrifice yourself to deal 300 damage to all targets within 30 feet and the Hellfire continues to burn the area, dealing 240 damage every 2 seconds for the next 30 seconds. (This literally kills you by blowing you up and then dropping Napalm on the ground.) (10 minute cooldown)

The Daemon Ball Rally RvR Public Quest

The energy of the Daemon Cradles may be turned against the forces of Order/Destruction, but five must be set upon the enemy’s Nest for that to happen. Aid your Realm in harnessing the Cradle, but be wary of those who would see you fail. Toss the relic to an ally if the situation becomes dire – and if the enemy gets the upper hand, work toward destroying their relics.

This Public Quest is available only in the currently contested Empire vs. Chaos RvR zone.

The PQ plays out like a big game of “Kill the guy with the thing” basically. The idea is to pick up the “ball” and run it to the “goal” without getting killed on the way. Five scores and you win.

However, it’s not that simple.

The person carrying the “ball” has a debuff that increases incoming damage, making them an easy target. However, they also have a granted abililty, like the Zealot/Rune Priest abilities, that they can use to pass the “ball” to one of their allies. This has a fairly good range on it which makes for a great tactical option when moving the “ball” as a group.

Once the “ball” is placed on the “goal”, you score…but your points are not safe! The opposition can attack the goal and “kill” your “ball” and thus remove the point you earned for your team. To win, you must not only move the “ball” to your “goal”, but also guard your “goal” to prevent your points from disappearing. Not to mention guarding their “goal” to prevent their scores and kill their points.

Good times.

Once done, it has a 15 minute reset timer and the Chest spawns at your warcamp. If you’re in Tier 4 and the pairing is locked completely, the PQ should still be live in Praag.

The “ball” waiting to be picked up.

The Goal with points scored. Attack the small skulls to “kill” off points.

Goreslake the Bloodthirster PvE Public Quest

The dread bloodthirster Goreslake has manifested upon this world! Destroy him!

This PvE Public Quest is found in the Chaos Wastes (different areas for Order and Destruction) and has an hour-long reset timer.

Update: After much deliberation, I decided to give the location for this guy since, despite him being huge and hard to miss, people apparently can’t find him.

For Order, he’s at approximately (45000, 55000) in Chaos Wastes.

For Destruction, he’s at approximately (11500, 25500) in Chaos Wastes.

Goreslake is big. No, seriously. He’s a level 44 four-skull Lord. Bring a group. Better yet, bring a warband.

He’s a fun fight. Keep an eye out for this Curse though…

It’s an interesting Curse as it does this to you before attempting to kill you off…

Yeah, he’s a tad big for a Rune Priest.

The Gold Bag from this PQ holds either the Magnus Daemonarium or the Face-Eater’s Mask. Cross your fingers.

Your stats may vary…

High Pass Cemetary Scenario

This Scenario not only looks awesome, but is a great place to fight as well.

The point is to hold both the Stag and the Crypt. You capture them by clicking on them. Capture both to get a point bonus and to reset them.

There are numerous ways to do this including having solo players do hit-and-runs and sneak it out from under them.

Personally, I enjoy sneak attacks from the graveyard, but to each their own. :p

If you don’t work with your team for a solid Scenario, you’ll never get to 500. Keep that in mind.

Slay 50 daemons : This can be done in PvE, RvR and Scenarios. Any player wearing a daemon mask should count.

Tip (courtesy of Argen of Fallout on Iron Rock) : If you’re higher level, you can kill the daemon mobs in the PQ in Altdorf at approximately (35000, 38600). It’s not always up, but is an easy way to get your kills when it is as they’re a mid-20s mob and 40 of them spawn.

Complete the ‘Masks of Corruption’ quest ten times :

You can start this quest at the Coldheart Witch Hunter at (27277, 30993) near the Flight Master in Altdorf or at any Coldheart Witch Hunter in one of the War Camps.

Stage 1

Collect 10 daemon masks from Daemon-Masked citizens in Altdorf, or from Daemon-Masked enemy players. Deliver the daemon masks to any Coldheart Witch Hunter in Altdorf or one of the War Camps.

Right-clicking on the Daemon-Masked Citizens with orange names inside Altdorf turn them into agressive NPCs a bit higher than your level. They don’t hit too hard, but use caution anyway.

Occasionally, instead of becoming aggressive, they realize they almost lost their soul and run away, thanking you.

Reward : XP, Gold, Face of the Unborn mask

Stage 2

Kill 10 monsters or enemy players while wearing the Daemon Mask. When you have finished, return to any Coldheart Witch Hunter in Altdorf or one of the War Camps.

Tip : Click on the Emaciated and Plague corpses in Altdorf found in the alleyways and they spawn Level 1 rats that you can kill easily and count toward the quest.

Reward : XP, Gold, Bag of Broken Dreams

Be careful upon opening your bag. At times, you’re rather unlucky and receive a curse.

For five minutes, you get this little guy following you around and you can’t open any more bags.

No, not the Ironbreaker, the Rat silly!

Of course, the gods may toy with you in other ways as well…

Yeah…Curse of D(ie)i(n)af(ire)…sets you on fire and gives you super run speed. My new favorite? I think so.

So far, the best reward I’ve seen (in my opinion) has been a stack of 19 Twisting Tentacle Pies. Yay! Time to chase down that elusive “Pie Assasin” title…

This just in! Supposedly this nifty little item comes from these bags…

A little while ago, I wrote a small bit of text about whether I thought Warhammer actually needed the return of the 4 cut capital cities. One of the points I tried to make, was that I felt our current capitals weren’t being fully utilised. So with that thought in my mind, I considered how last years Night Of Murders Murdah live event, could be spiced up a little, but with more of a ORvR city focus.

Wall Of Text Warning

Now this has process has been a challenge, mainly because I kept changing my mind about what I thought would work and what wouldn’t, which intern had a knock on effect on other parts. It would have been significantly easier to have been able to bounce idea’s off other people, but alas that wasn’t an option. Regardless of that, lets see what people think. I hope I don’t I get as much stick as Mythic get, so I better wear my teflon suit, with its asbestos inner lining. Oh by the way, I should really have done a process diagram to clarify my thoughts, but I was unsure how the office would have viewed this use of my time.

So without further padding, I’ll try to outline the event and not leave logic holes big enough to drive a train through. It all revolves around the very simple premise of hunting down other players (Other realm of course).

Now the first big decision was whether all the action should be limited to Altdorf. This was mainly down to its multitude of small buildings and the possibility it presented of hiding/fighting it out in these very buildings. I’ve never been to the Inevitable city, so I’m unsure of its suitability for this kind of hunt. Of course depending on whether it’s a single city versus multi city event, impacted some of the subtleties, but I’ll go for a multiple city event for now.

1. All the action is confined to the capital cities. The whole of the capital is opened to the event, you will be unattackable by any PVE mobs while you are participating in the hunt.

2. Each phase on the event is on a 5 minute timer. The hunter/hunted phases would be on separate timers. So if you are hunting someone you have 5 minutes to make the kill, but if after 2.5 minutes you become a target, you have to survive 5 minutes of being hunted while still completing your assassination. I’m not sure you would have to “turn in” your kill, though that may make things interesting. If you are ported into the enemy city and survive the 5 minutes, you are ported back, though if you became a target during that time, like above, you would be ported back after you survive the 5 minutes of hunted phase. Bonus points would be awarded at the kill and the survival stages.

The timing’s section does need some work. I have a feeling there is a hole in there, probably the size of a small people carrier.

3. Everyone who enters their capital city during this event is bolstered to top of their tier as per 1.3.2. We need to level the playing field during this time of uncertainty … blah blah blah. Okay it’s to stop the whining, there I said it.

4. The people who give out this quest, are spread around the city, maybe 10 NPCs, which is mainly to stop people effectively homing in on certain focal points. Ideally each location for the NPC, is at a junction point, providing limited opportunities for you to corner your victim without them having a decent chance to make a run. I’m not completely sure whether a small no hunt zone is required around the each NPC. Once you leave that zone, you can re-enter, but you are no longer protected.

5. Once you sign up to hunt someone down, you’re effectively signing up to become a target as well (see 4). You can sign up as a group. If you are in a group, then when you arrive at your destination you will be dispersed around the city. Question, if your target is within your own city and you outnumber them, should you be dispersed via a teleportation?

6. If you’re the hunter and your target is in the other capital city, you will be ported over to that city. The idea here, is to carry out the assassination fast and then hide out. This allows other random players to hunt you down, by your chaos/order stench (see 8).

You are invisible at 5 minutes and as you count down, you become more visible and any damage you take becomes more significant, until at 1 minute you are absorbing max damage. So for example 5 – 4 mins 0% damage, 4 – 3 mins 25%, 3 – 2 mins 50%, 2 – 1 mins 75%, 1 – 0 mins 100%. A concern I have here, is if you are outnumbered, you as the target could run to areas you know are highly populated, to wait for your fellow citizens to help kill off your attackers, if your hunters choose to follow. So a bit of a flaw there. I’d have to make the reward worth fighting for, to prevent this chicken livered behaviour.

Another worry was that hunters could go on a rampage killing lower level players, since if they can be damaged, then the favour needs to be returned. To have a situation where the hunters could only attack people who had intern attacked them, could make it very tricky to manage. It could make the capital cities a very dangerous place for the duration of the event. Maybe not a bad thing for a short time. Possibly make it sectioned by tier 2/3/4 event, with a bolster effect running (see 3 above). Yes you lowbies, level faster.

However if we only go with one capital city Altdorf, then we would need to change it slightly since it would become one sided due to this being Orders capital and therefore having a numbers advantage. So I would envisage the action moving to a slightly offset plane of Altdorf.

Visually all the people involved in the event, become insubstantial. Sort of greyed out. This will help differentiate the players from normal players. If you are within the event, then those who aren’t in the event are also insubstantial. So you know who and who isn’t involved within the hunt. It would be like a game within a game.

Again, this section leaves me slighting uneasy, the whole damage count down and multiple phases, has a potential hole large enough to swallow the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.

7. Your target(s) is/are marked on the map. He/they is/are told his/their assassin(s) is/are in the city, but cannot see him on the map, however once he/they is/are in view he/they will be able to identify the attacker(s) by a floating icon (Annoying?). If the target is being hunted by more than one, then he can see them. So 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, then you can’t see your hunters until they are effectively on you, 1 vs 2, 2 vs 3, 1 vs 4, you can.

So if you are being hunted by more than your numbers, you can decide to push towards one side to engage the newly ported in hunters. So while your attackers are trying to get together, you have the advantage. For example, you may be a duo, which sees a trio of hunters port in around the city.

8. Once you carry out the assassination, you have 5 minutes to survive to claim your bonus. So in effect you can hide in the quiet buildings, which you always wondered what the fcuk they were for. However if anyone passes within a radius of x of a building you are hiding in (And are the same tier), they will see a message …. You can smell stench of order/chaos. Which gives a passerby(s) the opportunity to hunt you down. If this was running late at night, then you would have a better opportunity not to be hunted down. Not sure about how I feel about that, maybe I would scale the bonus dependant on the time of day.

9. A couple of titles are awarded for this event, which are what the real reward is. 1 Master Assassin based on killing 100 players in the period. 2 Grand Master Assassin, is given to the 10 top killers in one of the 7 nights this event runs. If you have already been awarded the title and you came within the top ten again, then it would be awarded to positions 2 – 11. Finally for the top dog in the whole week, Assassin Lord. So each year, there can only be ONE. The title stays with you and it becomes an incredibly elite title. As we all know, we only play this game for the love and respect of our peers. Minimum non npc kill counts required for some of these titles.

My final thought, is that for this to get going you are going to need a certain number of people to be involved. You can’t hunt anyone if nobody wants to play. So I would potentially be looking at some NPC’s targets in each city to get the ball rolling. Worth less than a player assassination, but attractive enough to get some victims targets on the streets. Once a certain number was reached, then the numbers NPC’s would be reduced to nothing. The NPCs would obviously need to be on RANDOM paths through the city.

The End.

If you got this far and haven’t been bored senseless, then thanks.

Now by the time I got to the bottom of my live event Night of Murdah issues, I realised there was a sh!tload of work involved and it had got significantly more convoluted the more I considered all the ramifications of each situation. So a note to Mythic, no problem if you don’t fancy it, it’s a lot of work for a week’s event for a load of people who probably wouldn’t appreciate it.

PS – Let me know what vehicle you felt was appropriate for each hole.
