Se stiamo per abbandonare il nostro vecchio account di Windows Live Messenger (fai click qui per scaricarlo), per evitare di riscrivere a mano tutti i contatti del precedente account di possiamo usare un semplice trucco, infatti, Windows Live Messenger permette di salvare ed importare la lista contatti e di inserirla nel nuovo account con un click, vediamo come fare:

Accediamo con il nostro vecchio account, andiamo nel menu Contatti e facciamo click su Salva elenco contatti…. Nella finestra che si apre, scegliamo dove salvare la lista contatti di Windows Live Messenger.

Accediamo con il nostro nuovo account, andiamo nel menu Contatti e facciamo click su Importa elenco contatti…. Nella finestra che si apre, apriamo il file con la lista dei contatti di Windows Live Messenger che avevamo salvato prima.

Su windows 7, windows live messenger se si clicca sulla X si chiude l’applicazione, non come i precedenti sistemi dove se si clicca sulla X si riduce ad icona nell’area vicino all’orologio. Esiste il modo di farlo anche in Win 7, chiudere WLM, andare nella cartella d’installazione e cliccare con destro su msnmsgr.exe, e poi su Propietà. Andare alla scheda compatibilità e poi selezionare un sistema operativo precedente, consiglio Windows Vista o Windows XP SP3. Una volta selezionato cliccare su OK, ed ecco che ora è possibile ridurre ad icona WLM.

Antecedentes

Well I kind of did this just for fun since I already took a look at Windows 7, Vista, and XP I thought I would look at ME, the spiritual ancestor to XP.  Windows ME was released for one thing, to be a home operating system, unlike Windows 95 and 98 which were designed to do both home and work.  ME was all about digital media and at the time it was just really taking off.  My first Windows based computer would run Windows 3.11 Windows for Workgroups and then later Windows 95.  My parents would have Windows 98 and 98 SE and I got a computer with ME.  I hated 98 with a passion.  I constantly had problems with their computer and it seemed to me like I had less problems with ME.  This may be due to the fact that I was running an Intel Pentium 4 and they were running an AMD K6-2, I told them to get Intel but they did not listen, and it was the last time they did not listen to my advice I might add.  Anyway for me growing up with 3.11 and 95, ME felt just like them, yeah a little buggy but I used it for years and did not give it up until after Service Pack 1 was released for XP because I still had programs that would not run in XP even with the compatibility tab options. It is also interesting to note that Windows 2000 was released on February 17, 2000 while Windows ME was released on September 14, 2000 so ME is newer than 2000 and that is why there are different features between the two, also Microsoft was already combining the Home and Professional lines of Windows into one product.   So let’s take a look at where we came from, let’s look at our past and check out my list of five new features in Windows ME.

1. System Restore was a good edition to Windows, however it did have a nasty habit of backing up viruses, spyware, and all.  It was a step in the right direction and saved my butt a few times.  Take a look at the interesting interface that seemed to not fit into ME at all.

2. Compressed Folders, finally Zip file support was a part of Windows.  I still use this to this day.  I think this was the best thing about ME and was glad to see it stay in every Windows version since.

3. Windows Movie Maker was started in Windows ME.  This little program was actually pretty neat considering it came with the operating system unlike iMovie for Mac which was part of iLife which was purchased separately.  iMovie was much better than Movie Maker but Movie Maker still did basic editing.  This program would evolve as Windows did and now is a separate download for Vista and 7.  You can download the new version of Movie Maker at  http://download.live.com/moviemaker

4. MSN Messenger, Windows ME was the first version of Windows that came with MSN Messenger.  It was replaced in Windows XP by Windows Messenger and in Vista all that was left was an icon to download Windows Live Messenger.  I remember using MSN Messenger to talk to my friends on Hotmail a lot when I was younger.  You can download the newest version of Windows Live Messenger for Windows XP, Vista, and 7 at  http://download.live.com/messenger/

5. Windows Media Player 7, while Windows Media Player is not new, this was the first one to have a skin to it that would become familiar.  Windows Media Player went from looking like any other program to being something that stood out and was a lot more functional.  While the newest version, version 12 is not available for download yet you can get version 11 for Windows XP at  http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx

Il più famoso programma esistente di Web Messaging, (Microsoft) Windows Live Messenger (fai click qui per il download), integra ormai da tempo la funzione di salvataggio della cronologia in modo da poter salvare tutte le conversazioni dei vostri contatti. Nonostante al momento dell’installazione di questo programma ci venga chiesta la nostra preferenza per salvare o no queste conversazioni, qualcuno di voi ha mai pensato di cancellare questa cronologia che a volte può risultare sgradita? Ecco come fare:

Eliminare la cronologia di un solo contatto:

Per eliminare la cronologia di un vostro contatto è necessario aprire la finestra di conversazione del contatto in questione e fare click sul tasto Cronologia. Se non vedrete questo tasto, premete sulla freccetta nella barra delle attività di Windows Live Messenger in modo da poterlo trovare. Una volta cliccato sul pulsante, noterete la presenza dell’opzione Cancella cronologia, fate click qui per cancellare la vostra cronologia!

Eliminare la cronologia di tutti i contatti:

Entrate nella cartella Documenti del vostro computer e accedete alla cartella File Ricevuti. Ora, dovreste vedere delle cartelle con dei nomi simili a quelli dei vostri contatti, apritele in modo che possiate eliminare la cronologia.

Como dito pela Microsoft, o Windows Live Messenger 8.5 e versões anteriores não pegam mais no Windows XP em tds as versões, ou seja, é preciso atualizar para o novo MSN 2009, onde pode ser encontrado aqui para baixar – http://superdownloads.uol.com.br/download/149/windows-live-messenger/

Para instalar o novo MSN 2009 sme problemas, vá no menu iniciar/executar e digite: msconfig … desative tds os processos iniciados na inicialização do windows, e pronto, clique em aplicar depois em OK.

Após fazer isso, reinicie o micro e vá em menu iniciar/configurações/painel de controle… e em instalar remover programas, remova seu MSN antigo.

Pronto, agora é só instalar o novo msn, deixar atualizar, e blz, boa sorte*

A antigas versão 8.5 do MSN, comunicador instantâneo da Microsoft, está com os dias contados.

Muitos usuários estão com problemas ao tentar fazer login nas versões 8.1 e 8.5, já que o software pede para o cliente atualizar para a versão mais recente, o Windows Live Messenger 2009.

A Microsoft afirmou que iria descontinuar as versões antigas do MSN em meados de setembro. Quem tem o MSN 8.1 instalado, nem consegue utilizar o programa e precisa fazer o update. Já o 8.5 ainda pode ser usado, mas é recomendável fazer a atualização.

ma che vagonate di stronzate dite.. Messenger di suo ha un protocollo che fa acqua da tutte le parti…

poi fosse solo la questione della protezione.. è peso il quintuplo, apre due applicazioni invece che una, ha una grafica vomitevole…. più tutte le solite magagne che la Microsoft si porta dietro.

“Instant messaging (IM) is a form of real-time communication between two or more people based on typed text. The text is conveyed via devices connected over a network such as the Internet¹”. There are several services available for IM; two of the more frequently used ones are Windows Live Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). So why the heck would you bother texting back and forth when you could just talk with this individual on the phone or in person? Good question. With face-to-face communication there is an obligation to converse, even if you spoke with this individual just a moment ago. It is natural to carry on a conversation with another person and can be uncomfortable if you do not. Granted there are some exceptions, especially when you work closely with certain individuals where the relationship has developed a rhythm and the need for idle conversation is limited.

There are many advantages with IM which help gain productivity and accomplish goals:

§ If you have a quick question someone can answer for you, you don’t have to pick up the phone and feel rude cutting them short with a quick reply, you can save those crucial moments. Rather than walking across the office to their desk, just send them a quick IM, get your answer and move on with your work.

§ It is impossible to have multiple verbal conversations at once. Our minds are just not good at processing verbal data of multiple conversations. This is NOT true with IM. IM allows you to hold multiple conversations with more than one individual at a time. In fact you can hold multiple conversations with ONE individual at the same time and still be able to process the information clearly.

§ Transferring files is timely via IM. Often people are not checking their email frequently a needed file could sit idly by in their inbox. IM allows you to drag the file directly into the message, hit send and the file instantly is transferred to the intended party.

§ Frequently individuals will use IM during a meeting to communicate essential information with their counterparts outside of the meeting. It is a way to keep the line of communication open for situations which may arise during those lengthy gatherings and avoid disturbance to the flow of the meeting.

§ During conference calls with clients, colleagues will communicate with one another via IM to ensure the message they are conveying to the client is consistent. It allows one colleague to interject their thoughts to the other colleague without pause allowing the message to appear seamless.

§ During presentations IM allows team members to collaborate with one another sharing thoughts on how they can utilize the ideas being presented.

Instant messaging can be a useful tool when used properly, however it can be easily abused if you are not careful. Set you boundaries, set your rules, keep it quick, keep it precise and most of all keep it productive.

Use IM to increase productivity through quick answers, swift file transfers, and instant collaboration.

I’ve been skilling up my Facebook Fan Page prowess today and thought I would share a few things before shutting down for the day.

First off is the Facebook Fan Page directory which can be found here. As you might expect, you can break down the list of Fan Pages by type of page (e.g. products, TV shows, celebrities, etc.) as well as search them by keyword.

Old news? Yes.

But I often fiddle and search until I find what I’m looking for on Facebook so it’s good to remember that Fan Pages can all be found in one handy place. A treasure trove of case studies for you PR/social media/advertising types (see below).

I got disconnected! Again! And Again! And…

I have no idea why.. but since I’m on Windows 7 Build 7600 my Windows Live Messenger constantly disconnects  and reconnects. Usually it’s working fine for hours and suddenly this dis-/reconnect stuff happens a few times in a row. Working fine on another Windows 7 PC in my home network though.

Looked into this matter but the only solutions I found so far were for Vista and regarding Firewall settings an such which are all fine on my config.

Didn’t find any solution yet. Seems not many experienced this problem so far, but at least another Windows 7 user reported this issue too over @ Geeks.

Anyone experiencing the same problem. Any solutions? I really like the WLM features but if this goes on I’ll have to add MSN to Pidgin (like I did with all those other services), hopefully there’s a fix.

E’ uscita l’altro giorno una nuova versione di Windows Live Messenger 2009 denominata QFE 3 ( Quick Fix Engineering 3 ).

Purtroppo neanche in questa nuova versione è stato risolto il problema che si incontra usando il programma in Windows 7, vale a dire l’impossibilità di ridurre Windows Live Messenger ad icona nella system tray, vicino all’orologio.

Oltre a questo sulla barra delle applicazioni compaiono due differenti anteprime per rappresentare il programma, una con solo il vostro avatar e una con la lista contatti.

Per risolvere dovete avviare il programma con la compatibilità per Windows Vista (o windowx xp) attivata.

Potete attivarla navigando fino alla cartella dove è contenuto l’eseguibile msnmsgr.exe, ovvero C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger.

A questo punto cliccate con il tasto destro sull’eseguibile e andate nella scheda Compatibilità, spuntate la voce “Esegui il programma in modalità compatibilità per:” e selezionate Windows Vista ( Service Pack 2 ) dal menù a tendina.

Cliccate OK e riavviate il programma. Fatto!

Being able to manage and customize the layout of my contact list is pretty important.

By default, Messenger will show all contacts in your contact list online or offline, as well as groups. Messenger will also show the tab bar, favorites, and What’s New feed. To customize this default layout of your contact list, you can click the contact list layout button next to the add contact button in Messenger (see below screenshot).

The Options window will appear with the layout options for your contact list.

This is where you can customize the layout of your contacts list in Messenger to fit your needs.

For me, because I have so many contacts in my contacts list, I find that I am doing a lot of scrolling between the different categories. Looking at my own IM behavior, I’m usually chatting with contacts that are online. So to help alleviate some of the scrolling, I have unchecked “Show offline contacts”. This means that contacts that are offline will not appear in my contact list in Messenger until they come online.

You can view contacts on your contact list by different sizes in Messenger: Large, Medium, Small or Status only. To consume less space on my contacts list, I’ve chosen to view contacts by status only. What’s great here is you can choose the sizes of your contacts by your main contact list and favorite contacts just in case you want your favorite contacts viewed differently than the rest.

If you someone who’s not using Windows Live Groups, you can uncheck “Show groups” so this category doesn’t appear on your contact list. You can also do this for other parts of the window on this menu too.

Hopefully talking about this helps those of you with large contact lists like me manage and customize the layout for a better experience in Messenger!

One last thing – did you know that Windows Live uses a unified contacts “store”? That means the same contacts you have in Messenger are the same contacts you have in Hotmail or in Windows Live Mail on the PC. More on this and other aspects of Windows Live Essentials in upcoming blog posts!

What a fucking cockhead live messenger is… It just wouldn’t install at all.. It kept on saying that I am not connected to the internet or whatsoever… For fuck sake, if I am not connected to the internet, why is it that I can online with different browser or to other websites other than Microsoft’s homepage?

I need to get back to civilization! I shouldn’t had been such a smart ass and format my laptop… But the thought of having so many worms and virus in my laptop sure is… annoying… I purged my laptop, hoping to bring it back from the dead and now it gives me so much error I had never seen before… My audio driver is working fine, but I just had the pop up of errors every time I start this bloody thing.

Another thing is that, most of the visual upgrade program I used before needs Microsoft .Net Framework thingy to work… But it suffered the same shit as Live Messenger.. It needs to connect to Microsoft to allow installation to work properly and guess what? It gave me a bloody message saying I AM NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET AT ALL!!! FUCK!

Guess time will tell eh? Bullshit… shouldn’t had formatted my laptop

Yahoo home page is under renovation to bring more stylish looks and functionality. It lets you access many applications and web services right from the home page. Moreover, now it is possible to look Yahoo Messenger contacts online in Yahoo home page and without any need to open any application or new window.
Just open the new home page of Yahoo and point the mouse over “Messenger” in the left sidebar. Then click on Sign In button to login online Yahoo Messenger.

Then once again point the cursor over “Messenger” link in order to view online contacts.
Besides, in Yahoo messenger installed system, it is possible to start direct chatting by clicking on send button next to online contacts.

OK, OK, das ist – zugegeben – keine Neuigkeit, der halbe Planet ist schon zu dieser Erkenntnis gelangt. Mich überrascht es überhaupt nicht, dass Microsoft erstmals einen Verlust erwirtschaftet hat. Das ist ja auch kein Wunder, wenn man einen Sch……… wie Vista, IE, MSN Explorer, Live Messenger usw. dem Anwender zumutet und für diese minderwertige Programmierer-Ergüsse auch noch Geld haben will.

Mir ist es, ganz ehrlich, völlig wurscht wie es Microsoft geht und was sie Tolles ausbrüten. Von meinem Schreibtisch sind Produkte dieser Firma verbannt. Ich benutze Ubuntu als OS und alle Art von Open Source Software. Was micht anwidert, ist, dass dieser drittklassige und dennoch weitverbreitete Microsoft-Browser auch noch hart arbeitenden Menschen den Erfolg vermiest.

Wir haben in diesen Tag Video-Inhalte unserer P1Mag-Homepage angefügt. Na, ratet mal, was wohl passiert ist? Richtig. Der einzige lausige Browser, der das Aufrufen unserer Homepage unmöglich machte, war… na klar, der unsägliche Internet Explorer bzw. MSN EXplorer. Ich kann langsam verstehen, warum Bill Gates von sovielen rund um den Globus verflucht wird!

Bleibt mir also nur, euch einzuladen – auch aus Gründen der Sicherheit – diesen Oldtimer unter den Browsern durch modernere Browser zu ersetzen. Denn sowohl Mozilla Firefox, als auch Opera und Safari rufen unser Homepage samt dem Video-Content und dem kostenlosen wöchentlichen Motorsport-e-Paper P1Mag.de’s problemlos auf.
