Dabbling with Live writer in Windows 7. I like the idea of being able to blog without having to even log on. Might actually work. Well. Probably not. Either way, giving it a whirl.

Ich bin auf ein neues Plugin für den Windows Live Writer gestoßen. Es erlaubt u.a. die Blogkommentare zu moderieren, ohne dabei das Dashboard besuchen zu müssen. Freischalten, Löschfunktion oder als Spam einstufen – leider scheint es nicht möglich zu sein auf Kommentare direkt zu antworten.
Ob es eine sinnvolle Erweiterung ist, oder nicht, das liegt wohl an den ganz persönlichen Bedürfnissen des Bloggers. Ich gönne mir immer einige Zeit zum ausprobieren in der alltäglichen Arbeit am Computer und entscheide dann, ob es nützlich ist oder nicht.
Momentan zweifel ich noch daran, dass es auch morgen noch installiert bleibt. Ich besuche die Dashboards sowieso mindestens einmal täglich um mir die Besucherzahlen anzuschauen, nachzusehen wie viele Artikel sich bereits für den nächsten Tag in der Warteschleife befinden und was es so an Neuigkeiten auf WordPress.com gibt. Bei der Gelegenheit bietet WordPress.com die Übersicht aller freizuschaltenden Kommentare direkt auf der Startseite des Dashboards an. Einfacher geht es eigentlich nicht.
Nebenbei bekomme ich auch noch Kommentare aus der Warteschlange per Email zugeschickt und kann dort mit einen Klick auf “Freischalten” alles erledigen. All diese Funktionen machen das Plugin bei mir persönlich eigentlich überflüssig. Kein Grund es nicht trotzdem mal ein paar Tage zu testen.

Wer noch nie ein Plugin installiert hat, es ist ganz einfach. Hier kann man es runterladen, dann verschiebt man es in den Ordner für Plugins und startet den Windows Live Writer. Den Ordner findet man meistens auf Laufwerk C, Programme, Windows Live Writer.

Übrigens hat das Plugin noch andere Funktionen. Man kann beispielsweise den Blog-Titel und die Beschreibung ändern. Die Funktionen habe ich allerdings direkt deaktiviert, denn so oft ändert man den Namen seines Blogs doch nicht, dass man es im WLW können müsste?

I just installed “Windows Live Writer” and I am now trying it out while I learn some JavaScript on w3schools If this works I think you will be able to see more post’s from me. so cross your finger’s and hold on. Well that is all for now, back to reading Javascript.

This post has been created using Live Writer. Live Writer is an extra that can be downloaded free for Windows 7 as part of the Live Essentials pack.

Why does Microsoft not just include these applications as part of the original Window 7 CD? Don’t know really! I can understand that most of these applications are not for everyone but the same can be said for most of the inclusions that are on the DVD.

Anyway Live Essentials consists of

• Live Family Safety
• Live Messenger
• Live Movie Maker
• Live Mail
• Live Writer
• Live Photo Gallery
• and the Windows Live Toolbar

I think most of these are worth it, but I don’t like the toolbar. Why is it that Software manufactures must include some near useless toolbar. I would prefer to keep my web browser sleek, simple and maximise my speed and web content window.

Dit bericht is een tweede poging om direct te bloggen via een andere live writer account. Deze heeft meer toeters en bellen. Laten we eens zien wat we er allemaal mee kunnen gaan doen.

Zojuist heb ik een nieuwe categorie gemaakt en enkele tags aan dit bericht toegevoegd. Laten we nu ook eens zien of we een fraaie afbeelding kunnen vinden en een hyperlink kunnen toevoegen.

Als dat allemaal werkt, dan is dit een prima optie om snel en eenvoudig (meerdere) blogs bij te werken.

Overigens kun je met deze optie ook de publicatie datum instellen. Dus je kunt zo snel meerdere berichten schrijven en de publicatie daarvan over meerdere dagen spreiden.

Ok, dit is de link: raamwerk.nl, dat werkt dus prima. Nu de afbeelding eens invoegen, bijvoorbeeld die hieronder:

Een afbeelding compleet met hyperlink. Voilà. Ik denk dat ik verliefd ga worden op deze toepassing. Het is snel, overzichtelijk en verhoogd de productiviteit. En je kunt op deze manier prima online leven.

Aici puteti descarca pack-ul . Contine Movie Maker ultima versiune , MSN si , bineinteles , acest program pentru blog (Live Writer) . Merita incercat .

Ahah ! Je viens de découvrir ce programme. Bah, oui je connaissais pas. Enfin, disons plutôt que je ne voyais pas son utilité. Mais, depuis que j’ai ouvert mes blogs sur WordPress, bah il devient utile.

Avec la MAJ de Messenger, j’installe Live Writer. Et, ça change la vie. Oui, non. Enfin, pas littéralement, mais c’est bien pratique. Puisque le programme prend en charge la publication sur WP, je peux rédiger mes articles hors-ligne tranquillement. =P Mieux je peux même avoir un aperçu avec mon thème, et tous les outils de mise en page sont présent. La classe ! xD

Bon, alors, je sais, vous êtes sans doute déjà au courant. Mais, pour une fois qu’un programme Windows est prévu pour autre chose que les espaces perso Live, bah je devais le dire. xD 

6 days left until Halloween, and I STILL don’t have anything planned – and I STILL don’t have a costume…  but you know what?  It’s okay, it’s fine really – because the only place that I know of in L.A. that’s really hopping at Halloween is West Hollywood.  WeHo gets WAY too crowded for me – so staying indoors is not a big deal.  I’ll just hand out the treats to the kids if any stop by, and if they don’t I’ll just eat it myself, lol.

I would love to share other fun or funny or scary things for Halloween, so perhaps for the next few days I’ll post my favorite scary stories & urban legends…  BWAH HA HAA!!!

Now, with Windows Live – Live Writer, I can update my blog from my desktop…  I don’t even have to log on to the internet to update, which is pretty damn cool in my opinion.

So, what’s going on right now?  I had a person sharing my room for financial purposes for awhile, but she’s gone now.  Just couldn’t handle having a person living that close to me day by day that I wasn’t in a relationship with.  So, she moved out last week – and things are so much better.  Having my room back to myself makes a huge difference.  I feel like I can breath again.  I guess this means that I can’t share a room with anyone anytime soon – but that’s fine…  I truly do like it better this way.

Starting a new job on Tuesday – yay!  There’s where I can make up the money I’m losing without the roommate.  I’m very happy.

Well, that’s about it…  maybe now that I have an option to update my blog from my desktop, I’ll do it more often.

Ada sebuah plugin untuk Windows Live Writer dimana Anda bisa memoderasi komentar di blog. Baik menyetujui komentar, menghapus serta menjadikan spam komentar yang telah masuk. Berikut ini cara menggunakannya.

• Silakan download Plugin Komentar WordPress (sekitar 50 KB).
  • Download dari ziddu
  • Download dari skydrive
• Jika mendownload dari ziddu silakan buka terlebih dahulu zipnya.
• Masukkan WordPressPlugin.dll ke dalam folder plugin Windows Live Writer yaitu di C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Writer\Plugins.
• Jalankan Windows Live Writer, disamping kanan akan ada menu Comment Management.
• Jika diklik akan muncul sebuah kotak berisi komentar yang telah masuk blog Anda.

Sayangnya plugin ini hanya bisa untuk memoderasi saja. Tidak bisa untuk membalas komentar maupun untuk mengedit komentar.Hanya ada 3 menu yaitu Approve, Spam dan Delete. Selain itu plugin wordpress ini juga mempunyai menu untuk mengubah judul blog serta custom fields. Dapat dipergunakan untuk blog WordPress hosting sendiri maupun WordPress.Com.

Уже практически полгода я пользуюсь Windows Live Writer в качестве инструмента для написания веб-ориентированных статей. Это отличный инструмент, работающий с большим количеством blogengine’ов, и даже с SharePoint. Но разговор не об этом, в связи с тем, что я разработчик, мне частенько приходится вставлять листинг кода в написанные статьи, на это я и хочу обратить ваше внимание.

Многие представители Python-сообщества наверняка знакомы с дивным проектом под названием Pygments:

Ну так вот, товарищ Harry Pierson (@DevHawk) скомпилировал этот движок под IronPython и написал обертку-плагин для Windows Live Writer (качать здесь не торопиться). Отлично, однако то, что получается в результате его обработки не выделяется цветом на habrahabr, это связанно с некоторыми особенностями ресурса, однако поправимо.

Данными работами я и предлагаю заняться, для этого нам понадобятся:

• Исходники проекта (на GitHub’е)
• 5 мин времени

После того, как мы скачали исходники, стоит разыскать скрипт под именем pygments_package\devhawk_formatter.py и немного его подкоректировать:

Далее пересобрать с помощью скрипта build.bat проект и запустить инсталлер – теперь то что делает данный проект в  цвете отображается на хабре.

As a follow up to my previous posts about keeping in Sync, I wanted to show that I now have a forth computer in the mix that I need to keep in sync. I am now the proud owner of a HP Mini 2140 running Windows 7 and Office 2010 CTP.

Adding this computer to the mix was a snap, I simply downloaded and installed Live Mesh and added it to my devices. I was then able to sync my working documents and favourites.

For blogging, I am using Windows Live Writer and as such I am now also syncing my draft posts using Live Mesh between each of my machines. The Live Writer drafts folder is stored under the “My Documents” folder inside “My Weblog Posts\Drafts”. For Windows XP, this equates to C:\Documents and Settings\{Username}\My Documents\My Weblog Posts\Drafts. For Windows 7 it will be under C:\Users\{Username}\My Documents\My Weblog Posts\Drafts. By adding the drafts folder to the Live Mesh Folders and I can work on a post from work, click “Save Draft” then when I get home I can continue where I left off.

   It does not look any different !!! Microsoft has decided that I need to upgrade both MSN Messenger and Live Writer. So what is different ?? I suppose I should have looked at the what’s new page, but really, It was working fine before. (I feel a rant coming on here … this may warrant a posting in my Grumpy group)

   This one of the problems I have with Microsoft. You can be chugging along, quite nicely thank you, without any problems, the MS decides you need an upgrade. They are always doing it with Windows, and look at the arse bucket the did with Vista. That has to be the least popular Windows OS ever. Even the hardnosed MS fans, have little good to say about Vista. At work, we are running XP Pro, Service Pack 2 (they don’t like SP3 for some reason), and in the words of the good and great, “We have no plans to upgrade the current operating system at the present time”. If the usual is anything to go by, we should upgrade to Windows 7, just as Windows 10 is announced.

   Just heard, that the eldest has been to see a movie called “The Spell”. It is a local movie project, that he got a part in as an extra. A whole 7 or 8 seconds. He went to see the premier last night, and I think he is quite proud of himself. I told him to quickly add it to his CV. He should also tell the people at the  job place up at Uni. There may be a lot of small parts in movies that students might be making. It will be a way of getting his name around.

This is a simple test post using Windows Live Writer.  I prefer this program for all my blog posting because of it’s simplicity and ease of use.  There are many great plug-ins that can be downloaded for free, and will enhance your content.  One of which is Zamanta, that I use with practically all my blog posts.

Zamanta suggests images to include in your posts, based on the content your writing.  Suggestions are updated after every 300 or so words.  It also suggests related articles from other bloggers to link to.    I’ve found it pretty helpful in creating my blog posts.

I made it through the first day of WordCamp Portland 2009, not the type of conference I normally attend. But I learned a great way to help some of my less-technical customers develop continuously updated content on their web site by using Microsoft Live Writer to add to their WordPress based web site.

This may not seem like a major breakthrough to sophisticated web developers, but making it easy for non-technical people to add content to their web site has been difficult. Most non-technical people quickly choke and their eyes glaze over when presented with a typical CMS or blogging dashboard. Although there are millions of bloggers using similar tools on blog sites, most of these sites restrict the tools to a range of flexibility that meets the needs of the most basic author and avoid confusion.

I support a web site for a dance company, Dance West, where having dancer-created information would be an excellent addition to the site (this is a site built on WordPress using a variation of the K2 theme). The problem is that these dancers are not technically proficient and they already blanched when confronted with the dashboard.

Using Microsoft Live Writer allows them to work within a familiar user interface to “type” in their content, adding photos and videos as they go, in what looks like a simplified version of Microsoft Word, an application they are all familiar with. I’ll be starting them using Live Writer in the next couple of weeks and I think there may be another client or two who will be interested in using this same process to engage their employees and speak to their audience.

This post is my first using this method as a trial.

This is one of the valuable ideas I picked up on the first day at WordCamp Portland 2009. I also enjoyed the talk with Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress, and a discussion on plugins used by WordPress designers to extend the capabilities of WordPress for different businesses. More to come tomorrow.

Today the current buzz (besides the buzz about ZuneHD of course) is a piece of news about Wave 4 posted by LiveSide that Live Writer is to get the ribbon interface. You can read it HERE. As someone who posted about this on the Clubhouse a while back about how I felt that Writer should get the ribbon I am really excited to hear this news. I posted about my wishes for writer to get the ribbon interface way back in July.  You can read my post about it HERE.  In the LiveSide post,  LiveSino has made a very good mock up of what Writer might look like with the ribbon interface and he hasn’t made a bad job of it at all!  It’s more or less how I would expect everything to look, with the plug-ins with their own tab, and the blogs with their own tab.

Of course its only a mock up but far better than I could manage when I posted about how I pictured it all working! Premonition? Can I see into the future?  Are the Live teams determined to grant my every wish for Windows Live and its desktop applications?  No. It’s actually much more simple than that.  It actually makes sense to apply the ribbon interface to a program like Writer. It’s quite a complicated program to use  and as I have remarked before, It always amazes me just how many use Writer to blog with and yet are not aware of most  of its features. The introduction of the ribbon interface will make using Writer  so much easier for newbie’s and veteran users alike. So I for one look forward to this snippet of information being completely true and I can’t wait to try it all out!

Ze voldoen niet in alle voorwaarden die Photosynth foto’s nodig hebben om er goede Photosynths van te maken. Het zijn daarom nog geen perfecte Photosynths – maar het idee er achter wordt wel duidelijk. Oefening baart kunst denk ik dan maar. To be continued……
