As a Liverpool FC fan of 18 years i hold my favorite football club in high regard. The amazing history of the greatest football club of england is one to be proud of, but we need something special if the past is to become anything like the future.

This season has so far been terrible for Liverpool (acept maybe the win over Man U), being knocked out the Champions league at the group stages, a poor start to the premiership campiagn that most fans have already given up on and the amount of first team injuries. But i ask why?

We have an amzing first team, filled with some of the best players in the world. but our reserve squad is anything but what a european championship side should have. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd have great team depth with players of high quality being able to take the place of first pick team members, Torres and Gerrard ahve both been injured so far this season and unable to play certian matches which has let us down immensly. So please Rafa, When the January transfer window opens, grab some decent players.

With Liverpool finishing in second in the Premeirship last season, it’s nice that we automatically qualify.

Hemma hos mig.

EPL. What are the words that come to your mind. “Physical”, “fast-paced”,

EPL. What are the words that come to your mind. “Physical”, “fast-paced”, “quick counter-attacks”, “stamina”, “strength”.

It’s all-out action style has resulted in it being the most watched soccer league in the world. At the same time, it is also the most challenging league. Foreign managers are often shocked at the number of matches teams have to play every season, and players often face fatigue.

In comes the squad-rotation policy. It has to take place. With big teams challenging for 3-4 trophies, u don’t expect the “star players” to play in every game. People say Gerrard & Torres win games, but the old adage stays true in modern soccer – “Good players win games, good teams win leagues”. If u have a thin squad, like what Arsenal is currently facing with lots of players out & injured, u’re going to suffer. Teams must have depth in every department: defence, midfield, attack.

That is what Benitez is trying to build here. He believes in hard work, teamwork and a winning mindset. “Not the best leg, but the right leg that fits the table”, often quoted in papers. Hence, he is building the team slowly, adding strength to all departments but not breaking the bank for it. Average players come in to provide competition and provide depth. As we progress, these players are sold and good players are brought-in to enhance the squad. When we’re constantly challenging for titles, star-players will be attracted to us and we’ll also then have the cash to splurge a bit every season on 1 or 2.

Hence, do not expect twenty-million spendings every season. We are not Chelsea nor Man city. Benitez has already done a very good job, with the main spine formed. Reina, Carra, Mash, Gerrard, Torres. All indispensible and world-class. For now, let’s be patient & give Benitez our support.

To Hicks and the other guy, either believe in Benitez or get lost. U have done enough damage to the club’s reputation.

In Benitez, I trust.

Sometime right-midfield, sometimes centre-midfielder or sometimes center-forward (which propably was his best positon) Anthony Le Tallec played just remarkable game in his liverpool career and that was in the Quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League against the mighty Juventus. He played the perfectly weighted ball to our little genius Luis Garcia and then rest is history. Best of luck for the lad on his new adventure.

Steven Gerrard is the captain of Liverpool and England at the moment. Does this distract him of his

Steven Gerrard is the captain of Liverpool and England at the moment. Does this distract him of his Liverpool duties and form? Does the seemingly common advent of international breaks benefit or damage liverpool FC? Lets analyze it closely.

Liverpool started the season extremely well. The 1st international break came a fantastic 6-0 win against Derby and a ‘win’ against Chelsea. Subsequently, Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger suffered the curse of the metatarsal playing for their country while Stevie G suffered a fractured toe. Gerrard was desperate to play for England and took an injection to kill the pain. In his old age, Gerrard will feel the effects of that decision one day.

With the loss of Alonso and Agger, its fair to say Liverpool lost 2 extremely influential players. Alonso has fantastic passing and vision and we simply do not have sufficient cover at central defence, a weakness noted at the start of the season. These absentees certainly damaged Liverpool. What followed were unconvincing, stuttering displays. We also lost Gerrard for a few games to allow him to recover from the fracrute. To say he his a different player since then is an understatement…Gerrard’s form suffered, when his form suffers Liverpools form suffers.

Slowly, Gerrard has got back into form and so have Liverpool. The loss of Alonso and Agger is still glaringly obvious. Still unbeaten in the league and approaching a crucial part of the season. Liverpool can only be happy where they find themselves considering the circumstances. Soon, a full strength squad will be available to launch themselves to the top of the table.

So has the international breaks damaged or benefited Liverpool? The answer is both. While the 1st break brought injuries, since then it has allowed these injured players a window to recover without losing too many games. Case in point, Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres. So like everything in football, it balances itself out during the course of a season.
