Não sei se você lembra, mas há muito tempo atrás você era uma jovem que fedia a sucesso, vencedora de um Oscar de melhor atriz além de dois Tonys.

Dizer que o auge da sua carreira ainda está por vir quando ouvir o seu nome causa uma profunda sensação de compaixão e melancolia é, no mínimo, desconcertante.

O que você está esperando no futuro? Um Nobel de Economia?

Porque bater aquilo que você já foi um dia é muito difícil, ainda mais considerando o que você é hoje.

Sinceramente, eu nunca fui seu fã: sempre tive uma estranha aflição dos seus olhos, que são muito separados um do outro. Se eles fossem um pouquinho mais afastados você não seria um ser humano, e sim uma pomba.

E eu sei o quanto eu estou sendo chato, mas que lhe sirva de incentivo o fato de que eu torço por você, primeiro porque você é fodida da cabeça e teve uma vida completamente esmerdalhada, coisa que ninguém merece. Segundo porque eu amo retornos triunfais, como Burt Reynolds em Boogie Nights, ou David Carradine em Kill Bill, ou Elvis no ano de 1968.

Se tem alguém em quem você deve se inspirar nesse momento é Elvis Presley, só não vá virar uma obesa mórbida e morrer de gorda.

last night kyle showed me this cute little bar in the west village called marie’s crisis.   it looks like the basement of a restaurant with just a piano set up in the foyer but every night there’s a piano man who plays show tunes, BY HEART.  sunday night there’s a charmer named jim who’s been playing there for 21 years.  of course everyone is encouraged to sing along and most of the time that works out just fine (unless you’ve had one too many of the very strong drinks and end up butchering everyone’s favorite cabaret tune- but i guess that’s part of the charm)  also, who made a cameo but malan breton from project runway season 3?!  i didn’t really know who he was either but he sang “people“ from funny girl and nearly made me pee my pants. apparently he’s also a performer-hello!   i mean, he had to untie his bow tie before he started singing.  that’s shit is for realsies.

Cabaret on IMDB

Tutti aspettano Sex and the city 2. Dopo l’immenso successo del primo film, pieno zeppo di griffes e di storie d’amore (come diceva la colonna sonora by Fergie “Labels or love”) sono in pieno svolgimento le riprese del secondo.

Le indiscrezioni continuano a trapelare dal set, preda di curiosi e di paparazzi – le scene girate per strada sono ormai di dominio pubblico.

La trama affronterà anche il tema della crisi economica e – forse – di un’eventuale gravidanza di Carrie. Ma a far rumore, per ora, sono le infinite Guest star ospiti del nuovo film delle “ragazze” più amamte di Manhattan.

Qualche tempo fa è spuntata fuori la notizia della partecipazione di Miley Cyrus – alias Hannah Montana -  in un ruolo marginale. Probabilmente si tratterà di una piccola gag nella quale lei e Samantha indosseranno lo stesso abito durante una serata mondana.

Le altre star avvistate sul set newyorkese sarebbero nientemeno che Penelope Cruz e Liza Minelli.

La spagnoa più famosa del mondo potrebbe addirittura essere la nuova fiamma di Mr Big che, trasferitosi a Londra per affari, cade nelle grinfie della bellissima Penelope. Liza Minelli, invece, si esibirà con il pezzo ” Everytime I say goodbye” nientemeno che con Barbara Straisand. Teatro del duetto, il matrimonio gay di Stanford, storico amico di Carrie.

Se il primo Sex and the city è stato il trionfo delle griffe, il secondo saràil trionfo delle celebrities!

Bon, aujourd’hui, j’ai besoin de toi. Je vais avoir des vacances en décembre et je vais en profiter pour m’offrir 3 ou 4 jours à New York (après le 16). Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark is gearing up again this time with a lead actor and producer

It’s official – Reeve Carney, the lead singer of the band Carney, will be playing Peter Parker (ie. Spideman) in the upcoming Broadway mega-spender Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark.

Why cast such an unknown in the lead role? Director Julie Taymor said they wanted a “Peter Parker who could really act and sing, but who still brings a kind of performance that could be new to Broadway audiences. We wanted something a little more authentically rock and roll.”

And to help with that rock and roll vibe, Michael Cohl, a rock concert promoter with ties to the Rolling Stones and U2, is stepping in as lead producer, hoping to stop all the speculation that the show would never make it to opening night.

The show, which is reputed to have spent $52 million to date, will open in 2010 at the Hilton Theatre in New York.

American Idiot will be making its way to Broadway

On November 9, the producers for American Idiot announced Equity Principal Auditions for a Broadway run of the nearly sold-out Berkley Rep production. According to spokesman Michael Hartman, “there is a Broadway future for the show, but at this time no dates or theatre are confirmed.”

RUMOR: Ashlee Simpson may star in Chicago on Broadway

Multiple sources are reporting that Ashlee Simpon-Wentz, the former Melrose Place star, will be playing Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway for a six week run this December. Though she did play the role on the West End, her Broadway appearance has not been confirmed by any official sources.

A bittersweet anniversary on Broadway for Shrek

On November 8, the cast of Broadway’s Shrek celebrated one year on Broadway, but the festivities were somewhat bittersweet. The show, which was nominated for 8 Tony Awards, will be closing January 3 after playing 441 performances and 37 previews. The national tour will launch at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre for a limited engagement, running from July 13 – September 5, 2010.

Title battle – Dame Edna’s It’s All About Me vs. Michael Feinstein’s All About Me

I don’t know if you’ve been tracking the hilarious banter between Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein, who have very similarly named shows headed to Broadway this fall. Of the mishap, Edna said “It’s All About Me is my title. While I was saddened to hear that Mr. Feinstein did not heed my sage advice to change the title of his show, I’m overjoyed to hear that he at least took my suggestion to open his show after mine. I’m sure Mrs. Feinstein is very proud of her son.”

Wow –  you all certainly had a lot so say about Harry Potter and other beloved childrens’ books gone Hollywood (I bring HP up because most of you preferred him to Johnny Depp’s Willy Wonka — although he’s not without his own legion of fans). So while we’re on the topic of conversions, like our book to movies yesterday,  and a few weeks back we talked about TV to movie conversions (see Star Trek, Speed Racer, etc), let’s take it a step further. By the way — did you see that Sex and the City (which did so whoppingly well they’re making a sequel) has added Penelope Cruz, Miley Cyrus and Liza Minelli to the list of guest cameos for Sex and the City 2. How’s that for casting?

And so speaking of TV shows we really loved, let’s talk about TV some more. As in, let’s discuss Premium Cable versus regular old network TV. Because let’s face it, we watch premium cable when we want to see things that are maybe grittier, edgier, sexier, bad language-ier, etc. They just plain get to do stuff on HBO and Showtime that you really can’t on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. On the other hand,  less people get to see them because you have to pay that much more to watch them. That said, here’s today’s poll question for you.Let’s say you could take a few pay-cable TV shows and put them on network TV so everyone could see them. Which means they’d probably have to tone them down a  bit, but you get the idea. Voice your choice in today’s featured poll and let us know which pay-cable show you’d most like to see aired on a regular network, if that were possible.

Alguém não concorda que a Charlotte é a melhor amiga…

…e a melhor coisa desse filme?

PS1: Para mim, a Charlotte é a personagem mais autêntica e decidida, pois desde o início, e estou falando desde os tempos do seriado, ela soube e correu atrás do que queria.

PS2: A Carrie atingiu o auge da chatice nesse filme, mas são dela três boas frases:

a) Some love stories aren’t epic novels.  Some are short stories but that doesn’t make them any less filled with love.

b) Maybe some labels are best left in a closet.  Maybe when we label people – bride, groom, husband, wife, married single – we forget to look past the label to the person.

c) You can’t stop being who you are because you’re afraid.

The Sex and the City sequal promises to be extremely interesting, especially since from the distribution will make part some new names like Penelope Cruz, Liza Minelli or Miley Cyrus.
According to OK! Magazine the Spanish actress will play her own and to the dissapointment of her fans, it will have only a passenger role, just like Miley Cyrus.
Liza Minelli will also appear in a scene, singing Beyonce’s song, “Single Ladies” in a homosexual marriage ceremony. The new film will be launched on May 28, 2010.

Advice: Leave your troubles — outside!

Today has been kind of a big poo sandwich as it ends up. But Joel Grey and the gorgeous opening to the film version of Cabaret (love that 70’s composition aesthetic) can always make it better. My VCR is not working and I did not even bring this, one of my oldest and dearest and firstest of film purchases, with me to California on my sojourn from Oregon, but thank god for the youtube, jes?

So. Life is disappointing? Forget it. In here? Life is beautiful. The girls are beautiful. Even the orchestra … is beautiful!

Oh, man. So much better. (“Each and every one: a wirgin. Wh.. what? You don’t believe me? Well, do not take my word for it. Go ahead — ask Helga!”)

I think Cabaret and Fraulein Sally Bowles et al may just have to become a Thing around here. “Divine decadence!” Totally turns one’s frown upside down.

 Gay icon Liza Minelli will be performing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” at the gay wedding of Stanford and Anthony(Mario Cantone) in the new ‘Sex and the City” movie. You can’t get it much gayer then that, people.
