<title><![CDATA[World Rally Championship: Galles, Loeb Campione del Mondo]]></title>

E sono sei. Hirvonen ci ha provato a battere l&#8217;extraterrestre ma i conti vanno sempre fatti alla fine.<br />
Sebastien <strong>Loeb </strong>ha vinto il rally del Galles, conquistando il <strong>Campionato del Mondo Rally</strong> 2009 a bordo della sua fida <strong>Citroen </strong>C4 WRC.<br />
Dopo una prima parte di stagione vissuta da protagonista ed una parte centrale problematica, Loeb negli ultimi rally ha tirato fuori tutta la sua classe per recuperare quanti più punti possibili a <strong>Hirvonen</strong>, presentandosi al via dell&#8217;ultimo appuntamento della stagione a -1 dalla vetta.<br />
La sfida sugli <strong>sterrati </strong>Inglesi è stata una sorta di dentro o fuori, con i due piloti in lizza per il titolo in lotta per la vittoria fin dall&#8217;inizio.<br />
Alla fine della <strong>prima tappa</strong> i due si trovavano staccati di soli 5 secondi e le condizioni atmosferiche difficilissime avevano buttato sale alla sfida; terreno <strong>scivolosissimo </strong>e prove speciali che cambiavano ad ogni passaggio rendevano incerto il risultato e la condotta di gara dei due piloti che non potevano fare altro che spingere sempre e comunque.<br />
La seconda tappa si apre con i due ancora in lotta, ma durante la PS8 di 15km <strong>Loeb </strong>sferra il primo attacco rifilando ben 10 secondi a <strong>Hirvonen</strong>, un&#8217;enormità.<br />
Nemmeno il tempo di rendersi conto di che cosa è successo e Hirvonen deve incassare altri 12 secondi nella prova successiva; <strong>Loeb </strong>sta tirando oltre il limite e il mondiale si sta giocando in queste prove.<br />
Il pilota Finlandese cerca di rialzarsi e durante la PS15 chiude gli occhi e apre il gas; le condizioni sono difficili, Loeb decide di non rischiare mentre <strong>Hirvonen </strong>vola.<br />
Il distacco è dimezzato a due speciali dalla fine del rally. Dalla fine del mondiale.<br />
Mikko fa sapere che ormai non ha più nulla da perdere e che attaccherà fino alla fine, ma la <strong>sfortuna </strong>è li in agguato; durante la penultima prova il <strong>cofano </strong>della sua Focus si stacca aprendosi contro il parabrezza.<br />
Hirvonen non può continuare ed è costretto a fermarsi per richiuderlo; i secondi persi sono tanti, troppi.<br />
Il mondiale è finito, <strong>Loeb </strong>è <strong>campione </strong>per la sesta volta.<br />
Dietro di loro Dani <strong>Sordo </strong>(Citroen) conclude terzo, mentre <strong>Solberg </strong>(Citroen) conquista un buon quarto posto. Delusione invece per <strong>Latvala </strong>(Ford), soltanto settimo.</span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:0;"><span style="font-family:Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:x-small;">Si conclude cosi il mondiale rally 2009, un mondiale che ha visto <strong>Loeb </strong>campione per la sesta volta consecutiva dopo una parte centrale di stagione ad appannaggio di <strong>Hirvonen</strong>, l&#8217;erede in Ford di Marcus <strong>Gronholm</strong>.<br />
Si pensava che il francese della <strong>Citroen </strong>potesse conquistare il titolo a mani basse, ma gli errori commessi durante la stagione (oltre a sviste del team come quella in spagna) hanno rimesso in gioco il Finlandese della <strong>Ford </strong>che sembrava in grado di interrompere l&#8217;egemonia di Seb.<br />
L&#8217;ultimo rally, una sfida decisiva d&#8217;altri tempi, ha premiato il più forte, lo Schumacher degli sterrati.<br />
E proprio <strong>Schumacher </strong>sarà ora l&#8217;obiettivo di Loeb; conquistare il <strong>settimo </strong>titolo. </span></span></p>

Seekord jäi näppude vahele postuumselt avaldatud &#8220;Armageddon in Retrospective&#8221; ehk Eesti poelettidel pealkirjaga &#8220;Harmagedon tagasivaates&#8221;. Raamat koosneb K.Vonneguti seniavaldamata juttudest, mis räägivad põhiliselt tema lemmikteemast &#8211; sõjast ja rahust. Kuna erinevaid lugusid on raamatus suhteliselt palju, ei hakkama ma neid kõiki ümber jutustama, vaid soovitan kindlalt see teos endale muretseda ja läbi lugeda. Ja ärge laenutage, vaid ostke! &#8230;</p>

<p>Kui aga peaksin ühe kirjatüki raamatust esile tõstma, oleks see teose nimilugu &#8211; Harmagedon tagasivaates. Teeksin seda sellepärast, et see jutustus on K.Vonneguti ironiseerivale, pessimistlikule, kuid naljatlevale ja lihtsale stiilile kõige lähedasem. Lühidalt kokku võttes räägib see lugu natukene teistsugustest teadlastest, kes on jõudnud järeldusele, et halba ei põhjusta mitte inimesed, vaid Kurat. Kuna kõige kurja juur on teada, proovivad nad maailma paremaks muuta ja Kuradit kinni püüda. Selleks mõtlevad nad välja paar eriskummalist lahendust, mida ma teie lugemisrõõmu säilitamiseks parem ei maininiks. Samuti ei ütle ma, kas Kurat saadi kätte. Või kas ta ikka päriselt on olemas. Lugege ise ja te ei kahetse.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Novelli sündmustik leiab aset 1950-date II Maailmasõja aegses Ameerikas ning peategelaseks on sõjaveteran Seymour Glass. Lugu algab telefonivestlusega peategelase naise Murieli ja viimase ema vahel, kus nad räägivad mehe veidrast ning häiritud käitumisest, mis tuleneb post-traumaatiliselt stressist. Murieli ema on nimelt mures mehe hallutsinatsioonidest ning võimalikust ohust, et Seymour võib naisega hullusehoos midagi halba teha.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Kui vestlus Murieli ja tema ema vahel on lõppenud, hakkab lugu jälgima samal ajal rannas viibivat Seymouri, kes räägib väikesele tüdrukule nimega Sybil lugu banaanikaladest. Noormees seletab, et vees elavad täiesti tavaliste kalade moodi välja nägevad ja käituvad banaanikalad, kes veealustesse banaanikoobastesse jõudes  aga kaotavad kombed ja talitavad nagu sead. Nad söövad ennast banaanidest paksuks ning ei pääse urust enam välja &#8211; surevad.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Pärast jutuajamist tüdrukuga liigub Seymour hotelli poole, kus ta naine parasjagu viibib. Hotelli lifitis kohtub Seymour vanadaamiga, kelle peale ta vandesõnu kasutab, kuna arvab, et naine vaatab ta valgeid ja kõhetuid jalgu &#8211; tegelikkuses kujutas mees seda endale ette. Natukese aja pärast jõuab Seymour üüritud korterisse, kus leiab eest enda magava naise. Mees vaatab teda korraks, võtab siis kohvrist püstoli ning imetleb sedagi. Viimaks tõmbab ta revolvri vinna, istub naise kõrvale ja laseb end oimukohta.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Pean tunnistama, et banaanikalade lõpplahendus võttis mind täita kukalt kratsima &#8211; miks lasi Seymour ennast maha? Mõtlesin tükk aega selle motiivituse peale ning arvan, et lahendus peitub tegelikult banaanikala jutustuses. Nimelt, Seymour oli ise üks neist puuviljaolevustest, kes ujus ühiskonnameres. Väikeseks probleemiks kujunes mul aga tema &#8220;koopa&#8221; väljamõtlemine. Täiesti võimalik, et see võis olla II Maailmasõda, kuhu ta alguses läks suure innu ja romantiseeritud ideedega. Sõjakoledused muutsid aga tema arusaamu ja tal hakkas paha, kuid lahkuda ja endiselt ennast tunda polnud enam võimalik, sest mälestused ja kordasaadetud pahateod olid juba mällu sööbinud. Ainus, mis üle jäi, oli surra nagu ühele banaanikalale kohane.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Igastahes, J.D.Salingeri stiil on üpris kujundirikas ja mahlakas ning novelli lugemist ei kahetse üldse. <title><![CDATA[Racing At It's Best]]></title>

The race culminated a barnstorming battle this season between rivals Sebastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen. Loeb being the 5 time consecutive rally champion coming into the season was expected to win once again. And he started brilliantly by winning the first five rallies of the year in Ireland, Norway, Cyprus, Portugal, and Argentina. It looked like he was going to run away with the title and have his best year yet. People were even murmuring about him possibly winning every rally in the calendar year.</p>

<p>But then something strange happened, Loeb, who has been known for his ability to avoid mechanical trouble, became cursed at the Rally Italy. While playing cat and mouse games with Hirvonen, Loeb got a puncture and had to change it in the middle of the stage losing many valuable seconds. To add insult to injury, Loeb was charged with an additional time penalty due to his co-driver, Daniel Elena, unbuckling his safety harness before the car had come to a complete stop. Hirvonen also had some problems with dust clouds and had to finish second to his fellow Finn and teammate Jari-Matti Latvala(Mr. Enigma). Then in the Acropolis Rally in Greece, Loeb flipped his car and had to retire gaining no points and his rival getting all 10.  Again in the next rally, Rally Poland, Loeb had to retire again after hitting a hidden tree stump on th edge of the road. He was able to restart the next day but had to lean on the kindness of his other Citroen drivers to finish 7th. But the damage was done and Hirvonen took the Championship lead by a single point. Then came Rally Finland, Mikko Hirvonen&#8217;s home rally, where the Finn delivered a win for his fans, though Loeb finished second narrowly escaping incident with a damaged tire. The curse continued with Rally Australia. Loeb finished ahead of Hirvonen, but the victory was short lived when it was discovered that the Citroen team had irregularities in their roll bars. And thus were penalized a minute from their time, giving the victory and a larger points lead to Hirvonen. 4 consecutive rally wins for the Finn. With only two rallies left and five points behind Hirvonen it was looking like Loeb&#8217;s reign in the WRC was over.</p>
<p>But Loeb had other plans&#8230;</p>

<p>The second to last rally of the season was in Spain, a tarmac rally. Loeb is bar none the best tarmac rally driver in the world, but even if he won both the last two rallies and Hirvonen finished second, Hirvonen would win the Championship. So Loeb called on his teammate Dani Sordo, a Spaniard, to hold off Hirvonen for second place. And that&#8217;s exactly what he did, Sordo even out-drove Loeb for much of the rally, pulling out the best performance of his young career. The plan came to fruition, it ended Loeb 1st Sordo 2nd Hirvonen 3rd. So it was going to come down to the last rally. Rally Wales.</p>
<p>In a winner take all scenario, no one knew what to expect. Both Loeb and Hirvonen had won Rally Wales in the past, and both were going to be driving at the very limit of grip. It was bound to be historic. The conditions were traditionally Welsh, rainy and muddy, which made it likely mistakes would be made.</p>
<p>Loeb got off to a good start on day one by winning the first three stages only to see Hirvonen close within a few seconds of the world champion by the end of the day&#8217;s racing. However, there was a problem in the Ford camp. For some reason their drive shafts were failing, with Jari-Matti Latvala and Khalid al-Qassimi having to stop before the end of the day. Was Hirvonen&#8217;s car going to hold up? That would be seen in day two.</p>
<p>Mikko Hirvonen got off to a good start on day two as he beat Loeb in the first stage to get even closer to the lead. Things weren&#8217;t looking all that good for Loeb, Hirvonen was snapping at his heels and seemed to have all the momentum.  Sebastien Loeb then showed why he is considered by many to be the best rally driver in history and pulled away from Hirvonen by 25 seconds in the next two stages. Hirvonen was just left shaking his head and blaming some phantom problem with the car. He had some serious work to do in order to get back into contention and it showed in the following stage as he won but almost crashed a couple times pushing to the very limit. Loeb answered by winning the next two stages to take a 30 second lead into the third day.</p>

<p>Day Three, the day the champion would be crowned. Would it be a Frenchman or a Finn? Mikko Hirvonen got off to a good start by winning the first stage, but didn&#8217;t gain enough time to put a large dent in Loeb&#8217;s lead. Then in the second stage, Hirvonen took a big chunk out of Loeb&#8217;s lead almost halving it. Loeb was having problems with his turbo. At this rate Loeb would lose his lead on the very last stage of the season to his rival. Hirvonen knew something was wrong with Loeb and pushed especially hard. Then a miracle happened, the Driving Gods came down from the heavens and presented Loeb with the greatest gift he&#8217;s gotten as a driver. Hirvonen&#8217;s hood came undone after landing a jump, practically blinding him from seeing the road. Disaster for Hirvonen. The only option was to get out and frantically toss the hood away without losing too much time. But the damage had been done. Stopping had cost Hirvonen more than a minute, an eternity in rally racing.  And that was that, Loeb was able to get to the end and celebrate.</p>

<p>A sixth consecutive Driver&#8217;s Championship as well as winning the Manufacturer&#8217;s Championship a week prior. Sebastien Loeb is quite simply the best driver in the world right now. I&#8217;m one of those people who doesn&#8217;t like watching a team or a person endlessly winning and I&#8217;m not Loeb&#8217;s biggest fan(Petter Solberg fan), but I recognize true greatness when I see it. The greats like Michael Jordan, Ted Williams, Joe Montana, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Michael Schumacher, and Sebastien Loeb.</p>

<p>So I hope next season will be as exciting as the last. And it starts again, this time in snowy Sweden in mid February. Will Loeb win it again? I wouldn&#8217;t bet against him.</p>

<p><span style="color:#ffffff;">Como sempre, o treino de sexta é chato mesmo. E a culpa não é da pista, que é simples, como falei no post passado. Os pilotos não apresentaram dificuldades em se adaptar ao circuito e, tirando uma ou outra freiada mais forte, ninguém fez besteiras. Claro, eu não estou contanto com o Grosjean, que graças a Deus não vai estar na F1 no ano que vem.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ffffff;">Heikki Kövalainen foi o mais rápido de hoje, com Lewis Hamilton em segundo. Em terceiro vem Button, seguido por Vettel. Barrichello treinou pensando na corrida, deu bastante voltas pelo circuito árabe e terminou em oitavo.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#ffffff;">Isso mostra que a McLaren esta sobrando na pista e as outras vão ter que se esforçar para andar na frente deles amanhã. Brawn e McLaren irão lutar pela vitória, com uma pequena vantagem para a primeira. Vettel levou sua Red Bull no braço.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ffffff;">O destaque vai para o japa Kobayashi, que ficou em quinto. Outro que vem andando bem é Buemi, que terminou em sexto. Esses dois pilotos, que nunca tiveram resultados brilhantes nas categorias de base, merecem carros melhores e de certa forma foram a sensação desta temporada.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#ffffff;">Uma pequena observação: Loeb não esta fazendo sua corrida de estréia porque a FIA não liberou a super licença para o multi campeão de rali. Acham que o cara ainda não esta apto a pilotar um F1. E ele não foi bem mesmo na GP2, precisa treinar muito mais para andar no topo do automobilismo. Não esta adaptado aos carros formulas.</span></p>

<p>O cara levou de novo. Simplesmente não esxiste ninguém melhor que o francês quando falamos de cascalho, neve, asfalto, terra, ou a combinação disso tudo.</p>
<p>Sébastien Loeb conquistou o hexacampeonato do WRC neste domingo (25) ao vencer o Rali da Grã-Bretanha. Com isso, o francês establece o mais  novo recorde de conquistas seguidas da categoria.</p>
<p>Loeb foi muito mal na segunda metade do campeonato, é verdade, mas nas etapas finais ele se recuperou, voltou a vencer. Mikko Hirvonen foi corajoso o ano todo, tentou acompanhar o francês, chegaram com uma diferença mínima nesta última etapa, mas&#8230;</p>
<p>Depois de uma equilibrada luta no primeiro dia de prova, logo nas etapas iniciais do segundo dia o francês mostrou porque tem tantos títulos e vitórias, ao colocar uma diferença de 30s em cima de Hirvonen no final do dia.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2406" title="loeb" src="http://formulatotal.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/loeb.jpg" alt="loeb" width="655" height="436" /><em>Loeb no segundo dia: deu show e praticamente colocou a mão na taça</em>.</p>
<p>Mikko Hirvonen ainda deu um ar da sua graça, aproveitando as excessivas cautelas com que Loeb encarou o terceiro dia, e recuperou 11.2s, reduzindo a margem para 18.2. Mas na penúltima especial o capô do Ford Focus do finlandês soltou-se depois de um salto, e obrigou Hirvonen a parar para resolver o problema. Um minuto foi o tempo que Hirvonen perdeu na especial e com isso quase todas as  chances que ainda tinha de terminar a prova na frente de Loeb, o que precisava para ser Campeão.</p>

<p>E o contratempo do finlandês quase o fez perder o segundo lugar para Daniel Sordo, mas o espanhol da Citroën completou a prova em terceiro.</p>
<p>Petter Solberg fechou em quarto lugar, seguido do seu irmão Henning Solberg. Matthew Wilson foi o sexto, com Jari-Matti Latvala em sétimo.</p>

<p>&#8220;Foi um ano incrível. Fizemos um bom início de campeonato. O Mikko foi muito forte e um excelente adversário, pelo que sei  no ano  que vem as coisas vão voltar a não ser fáceis. Este foi um dos meus melhores títulos, pois a luta foi muito intensa, e durou até ao penúltimo trecho do último rali. Foi incrível! Tivemos altos e baixos mas o sabor da vitória é muito bom.&#8221;, disse Loeb.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>My flat mate&#8217;s dad got some weekend passes for the rally has he owns a Citroen car dealership, so on Saturday we decided to head up to one of the stages and experience the magic of rallying.</p>
<p>A 40 minute drive later and well up into the Welsh valleys the weather was looking horrendous. Foggy, cold and raining hard. True Welsh weather at its best. </p>

<p>Trying to walk and climb around the different spots became impossible as I completely forgot about wearing anything suitable on my feet, my poor skate shoes, they were completely submerged in mud up to my ankles a few times.</p>

<p>Apart from the uncomfort the experience was great, the drivers were ridiculously fast and talented. The noise these cars make is amazing, the mud flying everywhere and spraying your face, fantastic!</p>

<p>It was also great to see the top drivers fly by, you can really tell they&#8217;re pushing.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m incredibly pleased that Loeb is champion once again.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><em><strong>Sébastien Loeb</strong> se ha proclamado campeón del <strong>Mundial de Rallyes</strong> después de realizar una carrera, más o menos, cómoda, sobre todo en los tramos finales, donde su adversario, <strong>Mikko Hirvonen</strong>, ha sufrido un percance con el capó de su coche. <strong>Sordo</strong> ha quedado tercero y <strong>Solberg </strong>cuarto. <strong>Latvala,</strong> por una salida de pista, sólo consiguió la septima plaza.</em></p>

<p>Atrás quedaron los cuatro títulos conseguidos por <strong>Tommi Makkinen</strong> y <strong>Juha Kankkunen</strong> cuando <strong>Loeb</strong> consiguió, el año pasado, su quinto título mundial. Sin duda estábamos ante el mejor piloto de rallyes de todos los tiempos, por lo menos, en lo que a palmarés se refiere, pero este año, el francés, ha vuelto a superarse consiguiendo su sexto título de campeón mundial.<br />

&#8220;Este ha sido uno de los mejores títulos que he ganado; la lucha ha sido muy intensa, ha llegado casi hasta el final del último rallye. Ha sido increíble. Este año hemos tenido buenos y malos ratos, pero hemos terminado alzándonos con el triunfo. ¡Es una sensación increíble!&#8221; ha declarado <strong>Loeb</strong>.</p>
<p>Todo estaba muy apretado con el punto de diferencia que sacaba <strong>Hirvonen</strong> a <strong>Séb</strong> a falta de una prueba, el <strong>Rallye de Gran Bretaña</strong>. Desde el primer día y a pesar de los ataques del finlandés,<strong> Loeb</strong> estuvo en cabeza y fue ampliando la ventaja sobre <strong>Hirvonen</strong>, cinco segundos el viernes y medio minuto el sábado. Hoy, cuando el piloto de <strong>Ford</strong> recortaba tiempo a su rival, el capó del coche se ha levantado y se ha puesto en vertical, por lo que ha tenido que parar, con la consiguiente pérdida de tiempo, un minuto. &#8220;Bueno, el capó ha sido nuestro último problema, pero en realidad perdí el rallye ayer al no poder encontrar el ritmo en esos dos tramos,&#8221; ha comentado<strong> Hirvonen</strong>. &#8220;Ahora tengo que volver al trabajo y el año que viene tengo que ser más rápido. Aun así ha sido mi mejor temporada. Estamos muy cerca de su velocidad y eso sienta bien. Ha sido un gran año, pero por supuesto, también una gran decepción al final.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Dani Sordo</strong> ha cerrado una sensacional temporada con un formidable tercer puesto en el cajón. La misma posición ha conseguido en la clasificación general de pilotos con 64 puntos. &#8220;Ha sido un día fantástico y un gran campeonato también, estoy muy contento. He ido a por todas en este rallye, pero desafortunadamente los tiempos de <strong>Mikko</strong> y <strong>Sebastien</strong> eran demasiado buenos. He intentado atrapar a <strong>Mikko</strong> al final, y he disfrutado de mi lucha con <strong>Petter</strong>, pero por supuesto tengo que felicitar a <strong>Sebastien</strong>&#8220;, ha manifestado el español.</p>
<p>El próximo 10 de febrero empieza la nueva temporada del <strong>WRC</strong>, una temporada que se presenta muy interesante por varios motivos: <strong>Loeb</strong> intentará conseguir su séptimo título mundial, <strong>Sordo</strong> su primera victoria, <strong>Hirvonen</strong> arrebatar la hegemonía a <strong>Séb</strong> y <strong>Latvala</strong> demostrar por qué <strong>Ford</strong> confía en él como segundo piloto oficial.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>So I headed down to the bay in Cardiff on Friday to check out the ceremony for the start of the British Rally. As I was walking there I saw Hirvonen drive past me and thought &#8220;Shit, we&#8217;re late&#8230;&#8221;. Yep I didn&#8217;t get to see the top 4 drivers, they had already left. </p>
<p>So I spent the rest of the evening checking out the remainder of the WRC, the P-WRC and J-WRC cars.</p>
<p>The only camera I had was a rubbish Coolpix, so I apologize for the quality of the photos.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Sébastien Loeb e Mikko Hirvonen já terminaram a última do Rally da Grã-Bretanha. O finlandês ganhou 19.6s ao francês, mas a diferença entre ambos é mais do que suficiente para Sébastien Loeb garantir o seu sexto título Mundial de Rallys em seis anos. Se nada de anormal se passar até ao controlo final, ou eventualmente nas verificações, como já sucedeu este ano, Sébasiten Loeb e a Citroen garantem mais um título.</p>
<p>Depois de uma equilibrada luta no primeiro dia de prova, seguido de uma etapa em que o francês mostrou porque tem tantos títulos e vitórias, ao isolar-se na frente, no derradeiro, Mikko Hirvonen ainda deu um ar da sua graça, aproveitando as excessivas cautelas com que Sébastien Loeb encarou o segundo troço do dia, e recuperou 11.2s, reduzindo a margem para 18.2. Na penúltima especial tudo ficou definitivamente resolvido, já que o capot do Ford Focus do finlandês soltou-se depois de um salto, e obrigou Mikko Hirvonen a parar para resolver o problema. Com este percalço, o piloto finlandês perdeu um minuto na especial e com isso perdeu também quase todas as  hipóteses que ainda tinha de terminar a prova na frente de Sébastien Loeb, o que precisava para ser Campeão.</p>
<p>Depois de alguns problemas mecânicos no seu Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, Armindo Araújo terminou a época em beleza com o 10ª lugar no Rally da Grã-Bretanha, sendo o segundo no Grupo N. O vencedor do Grupo N e do PWRC foi Eyvind Brynildsen, que se estreou com o Skoda Fabia S2000. Bernardo Sousa, outro português, foi quinto no PWRC.</p>

<title><![CDATA[WRC, Rally of Great Britain]]></title>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The Citroen driver had arrived at the season finale one point behind Mikko Hirvonen and facing his toughest title battle in many years, but led the rally throughout.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Hirvonen (Ford) admitted he had been too cautious on Friday&#8217;s opening loop, and mounted a fightback and cut Loeb&#8217;s lead from 9s to 2.4s by SS7.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">But then Loeb all but secured the championship with an incredible performance on the next two stages, where he extended his lead to a comfortable 25s.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Hirvonen started closing in again this morning until his bonnet came loose and obscured his view on the penultimate stage, forcing him to stop and remove it, and leaving Loeb free to cruise to victory and the world championship.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;It has been an incredible season &#8211; a very good start then we lost everything in the middle of the season,&#8221; said Loeb. &#8220;It was big, big pressure and I&#8217;m really happy about this one because Mikko was really, really strong. It was an incredible battle all season.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Hirvonen was predictably disappointed to miss out on the title after coming so close.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;I need to get back to work and find more speed for next year,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We are now really close to Sebastien and that feels good, but it&#8217;s still a big disappointment in the end.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The Finn&#8217;s late drama almost allowed Dani Sordo to complete a Citroen one-two, as the Spaniard closed to within 0.9s of the Ford. But Hirvonen was 0.1s quicker on SS14, leaving Sordo to settle for third.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Petter Solberg&#8217;s self-run Citroen had an ultra-tight battle with Sordo until a windscreen wiper problem left him struggling to see on the very wet Saturday morning stages. The former world champion could not close the gap after that and finished fourth.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Sebastien Ogier was on course for fifth for Citroen Junior until he crashed out on the penultimate stage.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;I think the guys in front of me pulled some big rocks in the road and it was impossible for me to pass, so we went off because of that,&#8221; he explained.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">That elevated Stobart Ford&#8217;s Henning Solberg and Matthew Wilson to fifth and sixth. Both had quiet rallies once early rival Mads Ostberg (Adapta Subaru) sustained broken suspension.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Jari-Matti Latvala had a miserable weekend in the second Ford. A broken driveshaft on the first stage and the lack of a full service on Friday meant he only had three wheel drive for most of day one, and then he crashed after the finish of SS14 today, leaving him to limp through the final two stages with deranged suspension. He still managed to come home seventh, ahead of Citroen Junior&#8217;s Conrad Rautenbach.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The third Junior team C4 of Aaron Burkart was heading for a conservative top ten finish until he went off and lost five minutes on SS14. The Junior championship frontrunner admitted he had lost concentration passing Ogier&#8217;s wounded car.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Eyvind Brynildsen utterly dominated the Production class from the outset in his new Skoda and eventually progressed to ninth overall.</p>

<p>O piloto finlandês está com problemas na transmissão do seu Ford Focus WRC, atrasando-se de forma quase irremediável na prova, visto que fez um conjunto de tempos muito lento nas três primeiras especiais, sendo 10º neste momento.</p>
<p>Jari-Matti Latvala afirmou que &#8220;Num dos cruzamentos, travei normalmente, virei e de repente perdi a tracção na roda dianteira esquerda. Partiu-se a transmissão&#8221;. Para além dos problemas na transmissão, o piloto finlandês também terá ficado sem travões na frente.</p>
<p>Na luta pelo título, Sébastien Loeb já tem vantagem na classificação geral, liderando a prova com 8,9s de avanço sobre o seu rival, Mikko Hirvonen, que não tem conseguido travar a performance de Sébastien Loeb. Nas duas primeiras passagens, Sébastien Loeb e MikkoHirvonen fizeram tempos muito próximos, mas na terceira o francês ganhou seis segundos certos a Mikko Hirvonen.</p>
<p>No final da primeira secção, Mikko Hirvonen afirmou que não existia nenhum problema, mas que tem de melhorar o seu andamento: &#8220;Não está a correr tão bem quanto desejava, mas também não está a correr tão mal. Temos que tentar melhorar&#8221;.</p>
<p>Sébastien Loeb, por seu turno, mostrou-se contente pela prova realizada na ronda matinal, referindo que &#8220;Temos tido uma grande performance, a andar sempre no máximo, o carro está bom, a travagem está boa e tudo está a correr bem&#8221;.</p>
<p>Dani Sordo é o terceiro da geral, a 27.7s, tendo conseguido ultrapassar Petter Solberg na última das especiais da manhã. O piloto noruguês teve alguns percalços com o seu carro, mas disse estar muito contente com o desempenho do seu Citroën C4 WRC, encontrando-se a 3.4s de Dani Sordo. O quinto é Sébastien Ogier, que também está a demonstrar bom andamento com o seu C4 WRC, admitindo que recuperou a confiança.</p>
<p>Entre os pilotos portugueses, Armindo Araújo era o melhor no final da terceira especial, ocupando o 17º posto na geral. O campeão do Mundial de Produção disse que &#8220;estou a gostar muito da prestação. Estou a tentar perceber melhor o carro, que é um bocado diferente do lancer Evo IX e estou a tentar recolher o máximo de informações para dar à Ralliart Itália, para eles melhorarem o carro&#8221;. Neste Rally da Grã-Bretanha Araújo estreia o novo Lancer Evo X.</p>
<p>Bernardo Sousa tem estado com problemas no motor do seu Abarth Grande Punto S2000, sendo o 25º da geral. O piloto luso duvida que o seu motor aguente até ao final da prova, como referiu no final do 3º troço: &#8220;A manhã não foi má, mas tivemos alguns problemas com o motor, estamos a perder potência&#8221;,</p>
<p>&#8220;Nesta especial perdemos mais potência e penso que vai &#8216;morrer&#8217; em breve. É algo no interior do motor, não sei o que é, mas sei que está a perder muita potência&#8221;, concluiu Bernardo Sousa.</p>

<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Citroen driver Loeb edged a few seconds ahead of Ford&#8217;s Hirvonen on SS1 and SS2 &#8211; then really unleashed his pace on Myherin, where he beat Hirvonen by 6s.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;Really, really good stage &#8211; no mistakes, flat out everywhere, good braking, good lines,&#8221; said Loeb. &#8220;Really happy with the car. So for the moment everything is okay.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">But despite Loeb pulling away, Hirvonen remains upbeat.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;It&#8217;s not going so well, but it&#8217;s not too bad either,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Sebastien is really flying, but we&#8217;ll have to try again. No worries.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">&#8220;It&#8217;s not a first on the road thing, there are places where I&#8217;m braking too early and taking it too steady.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">The two championship contenders are currently in a class of their own at the front of the field. Dani Sordo and Petter Solberg are in a close fight for third, half a minute adrift of Loeb. The two Citroen drivers have swapped places on every stage so far, with Sordo currently ahead.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Sebastien Ogier is in a lonely fifth for Citroen Junior, ahead of the two Stobart Fords &#8211; with Henning Solberg frustrated by an engine that has lapsed onto three cylinders at times, and Matthew Wilson struggling for traction. Mads Ostberg (Adapta Subaru) was battling with the Stobart duo until a suspension problem struck on Myherin.</p>
<p style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#000000;line-height:18px;">Jari-Matti Latvala has fallen to 10th due to the driveshaft breakage his Ford suffered on SS1. He has limped through the rest of the loop, picking up damage on SS2 when a braking issue caused by the driveshaft problem caused him to clip a bank, and is now over four minutes behind the leaders.</p>

Quest&#8217;anno tutti i campionati sembrano avere la trama di un film giallo e il mondiale <strong>rally </strong>non fa eccezione.<br />
Sebastien <strong>Loeb</strong> è riuscito nel suo intento di recuperare quanti più punti possibili su Mikko <strong>Hirvonen </strong>e anche grazie al secondo posto del suo compagno di squadra Dani <strong>Sordo </strong>che ha permesso al Francese di portarsi a -1 dal Finlandese e al team di vincere il mondiale costruttori, il mondiale rally si giocherà in una sfida tutto-o-niente all&#8217;ultimo e decisivo rally del <strong>Galles</strong>.<br />
Il risultato del Rally di <strong>Catalunya </strong>non è mai stato in discussione, con le due Citroen sempre davanti a controllare e Mikko Hirvonen terzo nel vano tentativo di contenere il distacco dai rivali.<br />
In casa <strong>Citroen </strong>Dani Sordo pareva sicuramente più performante di Loeb, ma i giochi mondiali hanno suggerito al team di ristabilire le gerarchie dando cosi il via libera senza patemi a Loeb.<br />
Quarto un ottimo Petter <strong>Solberg </strong>che, a bordo della sua nuova C4 ha colto un risultato che fa ben sperare anche in ottica Galles, terreno sul quale ha trionfato svariate volte, compresa quella decisiva per la conquista del titolo mondiale nel 2003.<br />
Quinto posto per il rookie of the year Sebastien <strong>Ogier</strong>, mentre sesto l&#8217;altro fordista Jari-Matti <strong>Latvala</strong>.<br />
Ora tutto passa attraverso le verdi foreste Inglesi, dalle quali uscirà il campione del mondo rally 2009.<br />
Sarà <strong>Loeb </strong>per la sesta volta oppure <strong>Hirvonen </strong>riuscirà a rompere il ghiaccio e interrompere il dominio del Francese?<br />
Prossimo appuntamento 23-24-25 ottobre Rally del <strong>Galles.</strong></span></span></p>
