Are you tired of the default Windows 7 Logon? Well I’m about to quickly show you how to change it like I did.

lets get stuck in:

1. Download the Windows 7 Logon Changer.

2. Extract and run the Win7LogonBackgroundChanger.exe file (or install it from the setup folder contained inside) .

3. Click on any of the available images in the preview bar at the top or click on Choose a folder to open and add images of your own to the preview bar to select from instead.

4. When you have selected the image you want click on the Apply this background button.

5. When it’s done, click on OK.

7. You’re log on screen is now changed. You can press Ctrl+Alt+Del to test it.

8. When done, close the Windows 7 Logon Background Changer program.

If you cannot read the text there is also options to make the text brighter or darker, a little bid of fiddling might be required to get the best results.

And there you go, I know this is a small post but a handy one at least.

From the California Beat photography collection, Bay Area Snapshots is an occassional glimpse at daily life in the San Francisco Bay Area.

            It is a very common scenario where some users were created in your database at a past time, the software that owns those users became obsolete but as a dba you are unaware of that because nobody has informed you. Or you may have inherited a database in your new job, which you had no control before. In such a situation the first thing you have to do is to detect users who no longer needs to stay in database and delete their accounts or at least lock them.

Here are the steps to accomplish this:

Step 1: Capture Logon-Logoff Events

* Auditing should be enabled and audit trails must be configured to be kept in database.

sql> alter system set audit_trail = db scope=spfile;
System altered.

SQL> shutdown immediate;
Database closed.
Database dismounted.
ORACLE instance shut down.

SQL> startup;
ORACLE instance started.
Database mounted.
Database opened.

* We have enabled auditing and our audit records will be kept in database. Now lets enable session auditing and capture logon-logoff events.

SQL> audit session ;

* That’s all. From now on whenever a user logs in an audit record will be created. Now you have to wait to let active users login. One month is a reasonable duration.

Step 2: Detect Database Users Who Has Never Logged In

* Audit trails are kept in DBA_AUDIT_TRAIL dictionary view. Lets query the view to detect who has logged in since we enabled auditing.

sql> select distinct username from dba_audit_trail where action_name in (‘LOGOFF’,'LOGON’)

* The information of all database users can be seen in DBA_USERS dictionary view. Now simply extract the active users from all users list.

sql> select username from dba_users where account_status=’OPEN’ and username not in

(
select username from dba_audit_trail where action_name in (‘LOGOFF’,'LOGON’) and username is not null
)

** Now you have got a list of users who have never logged in to database since you enabled auditing.

Step 3: Take Action

* Feel free to lock all users that are inactive.

sql> alter user <inactive_user> account lock;

* Those inactive users never needed to login but they could have login privileges. We unlocked their account. Now they can’t login even if they have login privileges. Our database became more secure.

Step 4: Evaluating Users and Deleting Unnecessary Schemas

* Is it enough lock accounts only or should we also delete users and their corresponding schema objects. Well, it depends. If user does not own any object do not hesitate to delete the user.

sql> drop user <inactive_user> ;

*  But if they own objects, active users may be using those inactive users’ objects like reading from their table, executing their procedures etc. It is better to keep the inactive users with objects at first. Try to find the owner of those users within your organization. If you can’t find anyone who owns them, those schemas are good candidates for removing. User’s creation time may also give you an idea.

sql> select created from dba_users where username=’INACTIVE_USER’

* If you are skeptical you can check one more thing before dropping users. First find objects belonging to an inactive user.

sql> select owner,object_name,object_type from dba_objects where owner=’<inactive_user>’ and status=’VALID’

* Audit every activity on that objects

sql> audit all on <inactive_user>.<object_name> ;

* Give time to your users. Again one month is a reasonable duration. After that, query audit records. If you detect any activity on those objects, it means that although schema owner never logs on to database, his objects are still used by other active users. Do not ever drop such schemas.

* And finally if no activity is detected on objects drop those schemas.

sql> drop user <schema_name> cascade ;

* The command above will drop user and its objects including those which depend on them.

* It is a good idea to take a dump of your schema before dropping it. Keep your dump files in a safe place. If one day the owner of those users come and ask for their data back you can restore them.

$ exp system/<my_system_user_password>@<my_db_net_service_name> file=<export_file_location> log=<location_of_log_gile>  owner=<inactive_user>

* The command above will backup your schema and store it under <export_file_location>.

** Finally the work is completed. Now you have a cleaner database where there is no obsolete users and data. This means your database is more secure and you have more control over it.

COMO INSTALAR

Para quem vive trocando de tela de logon, o LogonLoader é um ótimo utilitário, ele faz bakup da logon original e permite que você escolha outra e aplique instantâneamente!

Para mudar sua tela de logon basta seguir os passos abaixo, simples fácil e rápido! Vamos ao tutorial:

1. Baixe o Logon Loader (312KB)
2. Depois de ter instalado abra o Logon Loader 3.0
3. Em Tasks (Na sidebar) clique em “Select a logon screen” (Ver a imagem)
4. Vá até a pasta onde está localizada a tela de logon desejada
5. Verifique se a tela de logon foi modificada (Pressione o logo do Windows no teclado + L)

Se quiser restaurar a logon padrão clique em “Reset to default logon” (Também na sidebar)

so are you having problem with your windows autologin? your computer just login by itself? there are two ways to change it,
just go to control panel> user account1 and user account2 in xp. but unfortunately not all xp system shows you this two option, you only see one “user account” option.
in case of the second scenario, you go to that only one, control panel>user account.
now see if you only have the generic users like administrator and guest, if so then you must “create new account”. after you create new account, “change password” for your custom user and administrator.
then pick “change the way users log on and off”, uncheck the “use the welcome screen” and click “apply options”
now you restart your computer and see if it is working. (if you don’t have custom user and adding password for your administrator you’ll just bypass the login screen like before).
there will be error saying the password is incorrect, and prompting you to type the password.
now, to eliminate that, you go to “start” menu on your taskbar (left side). go to run (or you can use command prompt), and type:
control userpasswords2
click ok.
this option actually shown in your control panel> user accounts if you joining a domain, but if you only in a workgroup then you have to type it manually.
in this windows uncheck “users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”,
in addition, you go to “advanced” tab, and check “require user to press ctrl+alt+delete”, this way you’ll have classical form of windows login like in windows 2k.

Esta é uma dúvida muito comum. Quer fazer com que o Windows logue sempre no mesmo usuário? Ai vai a solução:

1. Vá para Iniciar > Executar
2. Digite: control userpasswords2
3. Selecione na lista o usuário a ser logado automaticamente
4. Clique em: redefinir senha (obs.: não deixe sem senha por questões de segurança, pois você pode ficar vulnerável via internet; entretanto, não é obrigatório – eu, por exemplo, não uso.)
5. Clique: OK

Não é fácil?

Do you ever get bored of seeing the boring windows logon screen when you start  up your windows machine, knowing myslef you probably do.  You probably think to change your logon screen you’d have to replace original windows files, it could be done that way but there is a far easier method which is quicker and can be changed to you liking.  It’s as simple as installing a program, any one without no windows knowledge could do this easily, which I think is good for those people who don’t get on well with computers.

All you have to do is go to the Logon Studio Webpage and download it, on the webpage you will be able to see screenshots, download premade logons and more.

AppSense Environment Manager Service Pack 2.0 introduces a new auditing event – Trigger Action Time.

A Trigger is the instigator for both conditions and actions to be processed.   For example:

Please see the screenshot below showing that when the ‘JD Edwards’ application is launched, and the user is running the application on a client within a ’set IP address range’, then a specific printer is automatically mapped as the only printer available for the application.

In the above case, the Trigger is the  launching of  ‘an’ application, the condition is meeting both the application being ‘JDEwards.exe’ and the IP address range criteria and the policy action is the mapping of the specific printer.

Other Trigger actions include Computer Startup, Computer Shutdown, User Logon, User Logoff, Process Started, Process Stopped, Network Connect, Network Disconnect etc…

On selection, this new event is raised for every used Trigger.  This details the start time, end time and duration for the chosen trigger conditions and actions to complete.
