Lois is rushed to the hospital after experiencing an overload of flashes from the future. While Lois is in the hospital, Tess kidnaps her in order to find out what happened to her when she disappeared for weeks.

Off in a Luthor Corp. facility Tess notices Zod’s power tower in Lois’s memories, so with the help of Stuart – she decides to tap into Lois’s memory in order to find out if Zod’s tower would in fact change the world as stated by Zod. Here are the rest of the episode highlights:

Lois’s first memory she relives is waking up in the future. There’s a red sun and as she wanders she encounters one of Zod’s men (who flies over to her) and confronts her. Major Zod is now General Zod, and the Blur is gone as his signature black T-shirt is torn and hung from a pole as some sort of trophy.

Back to the present, Clark heads to watchtower and confronts Chloe as he thinks Chloe is hiding Lois. Chloe informs him that his accusations are outrageous and that he should work on an apology later. Chloe requested Lois’s medical records and finds that Lois is suffering from post-dramatic stress disorder and every time she relives a memory from the future, her body relives the trauma and her heart can only take so much. Clark and Chloe figure out that Tess is the one who kidnapped Lois due to her obsession in finding out the truth behind Lois’s disappearance.

Lois is taken to the Kent farm which has turned into a prison (in the future). She wanders around and runs into the ninja assassin, Alia (Monique Ganderton), who is guarding the prison. Lois requests food, but Alia asks what can she trade [in exchange for food] when Clark steps in and offers his father’s watch. Alia accepts and walks away. Lois and Clark hug and Lois asks him why she gave away his father’s watch, and Clark responds that he did it for her. (Aww…) Lois believes she is in a dream, but Clark informs her that she wasn’t dreaming and that he hasn’t seen her since she disappeared 1 year ago. Lois tells Clark that the last memory she had was fighting Tess and putting on a ring. Clark realizes she is talking about the Legion ring and that she time traveled [to the future] and asks her if she still had the ring. She says she does just when Alia comes back and tells Lois that Zod has requested to see her. Before Lois departs, Clark tells her to guard the Legion ring!

Lois is taken to the Luthor mansion. She eyes a table full of food and treats and runs and grabs something to eat. General Zod appears and advises her to try the truffle as it is his favorite. Lois picks up a truffle and is about to take a bite when Zod takes it from her hand and takes a bite in front of her. He finds the Legion ring in her pocket and takes it. He then asks her about Clark when Tess enters in soldier attire. Tess tells Zod that Lois use to work for her. Lois is extremely upset because Tess chose to side with Zod and his people. Tess admits that she helped Zod gain power because she believes that Zod and his people will save humanity. Zod then makes a reference back to Clark stating that Clark is only alive because he has always hoped that Clark would join him in the hopes of bridging the gap between the humans and his people. Tess adds that she has tried her best to convince Clark to join them, but it seems their efforts are fruitless. Zod has given up on Clark and decides to execute Lois and Clark. (Oh no!)

Before the execution, Zod presents Tess with dog tags as way to initiate her into his army. Clark is brought to the Luthor mansion and he pleads with Zod to spare Lois’s life and take his life. Zod’s people force Clark to kneel before him as Zod grabs a sword. Zod is about to chop Clark’s head off when a gang of rebels dressed in black drop in and start shooting kryptonite arrows. Zod and some of his people (including Fiona) manage to escape afterward Oliver approaches Lois. Lois and Oliver hug and Chloe comes over and hugs Lois too. Clark joins them and thanks Chloe and Oliver for saving their lives. There is some tension between Clark and Chloe. During the save attempt, Tess was shot with one of the arrows. Oliver approaches her, and Tess admits that she took a risk siding with Zod. Tess dies in Oliver’s arms. Chloe approaches Oliver and tells him that she had the shot and she took it.

Oliver buries Tess as Lois looks on just when present day Tess wakes up and hyperventilates a bit after seeing her fate. She tells Stuart that Chloe kills her (in the future) and Stuart jests that he doesn’t know what she saw but she was very much alive in the present. Tess believes that Lois’s memories are too dangerous for anyone else to discover and demands Stuart to erase Lois’s memories of the future. Stuart tells her that if he attempts to erase Lois’s memories and makes a mistake, Lois could become catatonic. Tess demands Stuart to obey her request but Stuart refuses and Tess shoots him. Tess heads to the computer in order to erase Lois’s memories when Clark superspeeds in but is weakened by the kryptonite powered equipment. Tess plays the innocent victim and tries to blame everything on Stuart but Clark shoves her aside and Tess is knocked out cold.

Clark takes out one of Lois’s brain taps out but he accidentally sticks himself with it and falls to the ground (because kryptonite is now shooting into his body). Clark is now tapped into Lois’s mind and he experiences her next memory.

Lois explains to Chloe and Oliver that she traveled to their time with the Legion ring and now Zod had the ring. Clark realizes they need to send Lois back to her time in order to warn their past selves how to prevent this future from becoming a reality. Chloe devises a plan to use watchtower to take down Zod’s tower because it is what is causing the red sun which in turn has given the Kandorians their powers. Clark chimes in that if Chloe is able to take down Zod’s tower and bring back the yellow sun, he is their best chance against Zod. Lois is confused how bringing back the yellow sun would make Clark their “#1 draft pick”, but no one elaborates. Clark responds and says that he and Zod have a history.

Later at Clark’s place, he splashes some water on his face when Lois enters. Clark asks if she was alright and Lois recounts the day of time traveling to a not so bright future, witnessing flying aliens taking over the earth, and almost getting her head chopped off. She then admits that the one fact she cannot believe is that Chloe and Clark were not friends anymore (in the future). Clark admits that once Lois disappeared, he couldn’t be around Chloe and Oliver anymore because it reminded him of her and that hurt too much. Lois approaches Clark and asks about the history he and Zod shared, but he dodges the question and says that he has made some mistakes in the past. Lois and Clark kiss and they make love to each other. Watch this scene here.

Dr. Hamilton and Chloe find Clark in the Luthor Corp. Lab as Dr. Hamilton examines Clark who is unresponsive. Chloe has called an ambulance and reports that Stuart lost a lot of blood but he will make a full recovery. Tess is expected to recover too. Dr. Hamilton begins to attempt to disconnect Clark from Lois’s mind, but Chloe dissuades him because Lois’s memories may help Clark prevent the world’s destruction.

Lois experiences another memory and it’s of her, Chloe, and Oliver heading to watchtower. Chloe boots up the computers and proceeds to upload a virus into Zod’s network in order to take down the tower. Oliver suits up in his Green Arrow outfit as Chloe finishes up. Oliver and Lois prepare to leave when Lois turns to Chloe. Chloe assures her that she’ll be right behind them and tells them to go on ahead. Before they leave, Oliver hands Lois a kryptonite knife (with a lead cover) so that she can protect herself. Lois heads outside and ducks behind a car. Chloe comes out and starts running toward Lois but before she can reach her, she is cut off by Alia. Alia takes out her sword and stabs Chloe. Oliver drives Alia away by pointing his bow towards her and she superspeeds away. Lois runs to Chloe but Chloe dies in her arms. Oliver tells Lois that they need to get the Legion ring back so that Lois can go back and help prevent a future like this to ever happen. Lois runs off ahead while Oliver stands watch. Oliver prepares himself as the sky is filled with Kandorians flying above and all of them are coming toward Oliver.

Meanwhile, Zod is dragging Clark across the ground and asks why don’t the humans just give in and concede to his rule. Clark tells Zod that humans are resilient and they will not concede so easily. Lois catches up to Zod and Clark and she throws Clark the kryptonite knife toward him as she tries to remain unseen. Zod steps on Clark’s hand which is grasping the knife. Zod lowers his head and looks at Clark and says: “goodbye son of Jor-El” and he delivers a kicks that sends Clark soaring. Lois starts to run towards Clark but Zod grabs her. All of the sudden, Zod’s tower powers down and the yellow sun appears. Lois gets away as Zod is still in a state of shock that his tower is offline as Clark approaches him. Clark then tells Zod that his reign of terror is over. Zod is furious and tells Clark that he (Clark that is) forced his hand, which in turn caused him to unleash his power. Zod then stabs Clark with the kryptonite knife. Clark takes the Legion ring from Zod and gives him a good shove which sends Zod sailing and landing with a big thud to the ground.

Clark pulls out the kryptonite knife as Lois runs to him. Clark instructs Lois to put the Legion ring on so that she can head back to her time. Lois is afraid that she’ll never see Clark ever again. Clark assures her that she will and they kiss. They both stand and Clark places the ring on Lois’s hand when Alia spots them and runs toward Lois and she is able to touch the ring and hitch a ride with Lois back to her time.

Flashes occur of Lois’s arrival back to the present when Alia attacked Lois on the train (which is how the Season 9 premiere opened) just when Clark wakes up. Clark asks if Lois is ok and Chloe assures him that she is ok and that Dr. Hamilton was able to erase her memories from the future as well as the medical problems that was plaguing her due to the post-dramatic stress episodes she experienced [from having these future flashbacks].

At the Planet, Clark hands Lois a maple doughnut which she happily eats. Lois notes concern on Clark’s face and repeats her doctor’s prognosis was that she’s hypoglycemic and as long as she eats every 3 hours – she’ll be fine. Clark tells her that he almost lost her once and he wasn’t going to let it happen again. Lois starts to push papers when Clark asks her what exactly is going on between the two of them. Lois is a little flabbergasted and tells Clark to slow down. She elaborates and says that she has had bad relationships before and she didn’t want to mess things up again. Clark says that they should make “dating” work for them and they should take their time. Lois agrees and says that they should start by going out for coffee followed by numerous lunch dates and she insists that Clark take her to a monster truck rally one day. The elevator arrives and they both get in and before the elevator door closes, Lois holds Clark’s hand.

Later, Clark enters watchtower smiling. Oliver jokes that Clark seems awfully chipper for someone that took at large dose of kryptonite. Clark responds and says that the sun is shining, Lois is going to recover, and all is well. Chloe enters the room and makes it a point to mention that no one seemed to be worried that they’re all going to suffer horrible deaths in the not so distant future. Clark points out that they can do something now in order to prevent the future he saw ever happen. Oliver suggests that they take Zod out now, but Clark says no because the future he saw had him treat Zod as the enemy which caused Zod to fight back with a vengeance. Clark makes a decision that he will befriend Zod so that Zod can see how great life on Earth could be. Chloe advises against that notion but Clark’s mind is set. Clark then repeats his father’s last words to “save Zod” which he has now interpreted as saving Zod from himself.

Zod is addressing his solders and tells them that his tower must be built. He assigns one person to find out what building regulations they need to abide by to insure that they can begin building the tower, he assigns another person to find out the energy requirements needed for the tower, he’s about to assign a job to Alia when Clark drops in wearing his Blur attire. He addresses Zod and says that he has heard that he (Zod) has been looking for him. Zod turns to Clark and looks happy (in a sinister way) that Clark has finally come to see them. Zod commands his troops to kneel before Kal-El and they all do (minus Zod) and the gesture catches Clark by surprise.

Qui a Latveria, siamo dei ragazzi semplici. Ci piace leggere i fumetti, andare in birreria, limonare

15- Superman Returns, Bryan Singer, 2006

Nonstante ciò (Do you know Bizarro?

Dovreste ridarci i soldi. O almeno la decenza di cambiare lavoro.

Guest stars David Gallagher (Zan) and Allison Scagliotti (Jayna) are the Wonder Twins! The Wonder Twins have arrived and they are causing all sorts of problems for the Blur aka Clark Kent with the District Attorney to the point where Clark might just have to come forward and reveal himself as the Blur.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD**

The episode opens with Lois waking up next to Clark in the barn and as she goes to look out the window Clark comes up behind hide whispering to her that “he wishes they had more time” and they kiss as you see the red sun burning outside the window. Back at the Daily Planet Clark notices that Lois is staring off into space as she recollects this “dream”. She snaps out of it and Clark proceeds to ask about her unexpected vacation which was coincidentally after they kissed. Lois admits that she left out of instinct and Clark suggests that they talk about “the kiss” but Lois gets embarrassed and starts to blush. They avoid “the talk” when a large package with a bow arrives for Lois. Lois and Clark open the package to find men tied up inside. It turns out the men were undercover cops and someone mistook them for being criminals and it screwed up their case. Lois and Clark talk among themselves and ask who could’ve done this as a commotion stirs outside. They proceed to the window and find the Blur’s signature “S” across a building’s windows. Here are the rest of the episode highlights:

Lois wonders if the undercover cop blunder could’ve been the work of the Blur. Clark tries to assuage the situation and reaffirms to Lois that the Blur wouldn’t do something like this and someone should allow him to explain himself. Lois is upset and says that she doesn’t know what to believe because the Blur hasn’t contacted her for awhile. An editor hands Lois the botched Blur story and as she leaves she starts disguising herself by putting a shawl on her head and sunglasses. Clark asks where she is headed off to in such a hurry, and Lois says that she was working on a top secret story and warns Clark not to follow her.

Shortly after we find Lois meeting with her psychiatrist, Dr. Evans. Lois is uneasy but Dr. Evans proceeds and asks Lois about the dreams she has been having. Lois explains that they seem so real and goes into detail that they involve her and Clark being naked. Dr. Evans makes an insightful observation that perhaps her dreams may have a deeper meaning which leads back to Lois’s mental block of the time she went missing. Before they can delve into the subject further, Lois receives a phone call on her cell phone (it’s the Blur). She ignores the call and Dr. Evans makes another observation that Lois seems to have strong feelings for the “mystery caller”, but Lois denies it. Then Dr. Evans suggests that instead of focusing her time on the “mystery caller”, she should focus on the man (Clark) right in front of her.

At watchtower, Clark is trying repeatedly to call Lois but she is not picking up her phone. Chloe explains to Clark that he shouldn’t expect Lois to pick up after ignoring her for so long. Clark explains that he hasn’t called Lois as the Blur since the John Corben/Metallo incident because he wanted to protect her from getting hurt. However, he believes that Lois is the only one who can tell the world that the Blur isn’t responsible for the botched drug bust. Chloe believes the problem goes deeper than that. She reveals to Clark whoever is posing as the Blur has botched 5 saves and they even developed a Blog, Twitter, and Facebook page for the Blur.

Later that evening, a crime is about to happen involving a jewel smuggler when a cougar jumps on the limo and ice appears on the ground causing the limo to swerve into a power tower. The cougar and ice revert into human form and thus we have the Wonder Twins, Jayna and Zan. They figure their latest caper will make the police forget their drug bust failure. The twins document their good deed by taking pictures and they also paint the Blur’s symbol (in order to give credit to the Blur) on the limo. Suddenly the power tower falls which causes a city-wide power outage.

The next day Lois and Clark investigate the crime scene where the District Attorney, Ray Sacks (Dylan Neal, “Dawson’s Creek”), is there boasting himself at the expense of the Blur in order to improve upon his campaign for Mayor. Lois is perplexed by the latest Blur blunder and Clark asks her if the Blur called in order to explain. Lois admits that the Blur called but she didn’t take the call. Lois then gets defensive and says that the Blur can’t expect her to just forget the fact that he has ignored her for weeks and be happy to take his call. Lois walks off in order to interview a possible witness when Clark hears a noise coming from the wreckage. He investigates and finds a bedazzled phone with a blue monkey on it.

At the Wonder Twins place, the twins are really antsy for screwing up again while Jayna mentions that she lost her phone. Suddenly Zan’s phone starts to ring and he finds that the caller id reads Jayna’s phone number. The twins are nervous and they believe they need to leave and just when they are about to activate their powers, Clark as the Blur rushes in and stops them.

The twins wake up in watchtower and they are greeted by Chloe. Chloe gives them a pep talk and tells them that she understands that they want to help, but they first need to make things right and to stay in watchtower until things settle down a bit (rather so they don’t get into more trouble).

At the planet, Lois is trying to write a story on a typewriter as the power is still out but the power is suddenly restored and just then her cell phone rings and it’s Clark calling as the Blur. Clark explains to Lois that he wasn’t behind all of the botches and he explains that they were the acts of misguided fans. Lois tells the Blur that he is risking a lot in order to protect his “fans” and that he should turn them in to the D.A. They get into a heated argument about second chances and the Blur tells Lois that she has to trust him, but at the close of their conversation – Clark’s cell phone breaks and his last words were in his own voice. Lois is stunned and recognizes Clark’s voice just as he hung up the phone. Lois knows Clark is the Blur!

The next day, Lois visits Clark at the farm and she acts all cool and apologizes to him for all of her Blur bashing for the last few days. Clark is a little confused and in a round about way says that the Blur would appreciate that “her faith in him never wavered.” Lois continues and says that they should carpool and on the way they can talk and get to know each other better. Clark then says that he knows plenty about her as she’s shared quite a bit of TMI (Too Much Information) info. with him in the past. Clark get suspicious and asks her what exactly is going on and Lois simply states: “she woke up this morning and for the first time she saw things clearly.” Before anyone can say another word, they hear the D.A. talking in the background on the TV stating that the Blur should come forth and reveal himself and work hand in hand with the police and stop his vigilante ways. Clark then makes an excuse for not car pooling and asks for a rain check. Lois simply nods and accepts it.

Lois then runs to her psychiatrist’s office and drives away the patient waiting to see Dr. Evans. Dr. Evans enters and is surprised to find Lois. Lois explains to Dr. Evans that she has found out that her “mysterious caller” and Clark are the same man and she is freaked out about it. Dr. Evans is skeptical, and asks Lois what’s more plausible the notion that Clark and the mystery caller are one in the same or perhaps that she is putting them together in order to make her ideal “dream man”? Lois chooses to ignore the question and talks out the qualities both the Blur and Clark share and then she admits that she just wants to help the Blur, and in a moment of clarity she comes up with an idea and exits quickly.

At the sight of the press conference, Chloe meets up with Clark and tells him that the twins are removing the social media sites and accounts related to the Blur. Chloe realizes that Clark plans to reveal himself as the Blur and advises him not to. Clark moves closer as the D.A. asks that the Blur come forward just as Lois climbs up on stage and says that the Blur needs to do what he has been doing without the interference of politics because his intentions are good and it’s what protects the people.

Later, Lois finds a rose on her desk and a thank you note telling her to go to the roof. When she gets there she finds the D.A. The D.A. wants to discredit the Blur and he shares his plans to murder Lois and blame the Blur for it as he has painted the Blur’s symbol on the roof. The D.A. brings in his muscle and they throw Lois off the roof, luckily Lois grasps onto a flag pole. Clark notices Lois is missing and sees her dangling on the flag pole and superspeeds to her. Jayna disguised as a lady bug sees this whole scene and flies back to watchtower to tell Zan what is happening. They debate if they should go and help (against Chloe’s wishes) but they decide that this is one of those moments where heroes act. With that they touch fists and activate their powers.

Clark stretches his hand in order to try to save Lois, but she can’t seem to reach. She tells him to let her go so that he doesn’t expose himself as the Blur with everyone watching below. Clark is confused at what she is saying just as a cloud of mist appears below. Lois loses her grip and begins descending to the ground as Clark superspeeds away. Lois’s fall is broken and she wakes up and she sees Clark approaching her. She thanks him and Clark says that he doesn’t deserve the credit for the save as he took the elevator down. In a nearby phonebooth, the phone starts to ring and Lois excuses herself and picks up the phone and it is the Blur’s voice on the other end telling her that she should be more careful. She then hangs up the phone and Clark walks up to her and asks who was on the other line and she said it was the Blur. The D.A. tries to flee the scene but when he enters his limo he finds a rottweiler aka Jayna preventing his escape.

The Wonder Twins are celebrating their victory back at their apartment when Clark superspeeds in and talks to them. He first cloaks himself in the shadows and then comes forth (in Blur attire) and tells them that he appreciated their help and tells them that the people don’t need more Blur fans, but people like them who want to help. He advises them to be more careful and that “heroes can’t make mistakes while the world is watching”.

Lois is back in therapy and she admits that she felt stupid for thinking Clark and the Blur were one in the same, but with all that has happened – all of her thoughts came back to Clark.

Back at watchtower Chloe makes a toast to Clark with a Superman memorabilia mug and informs him that the D.A. is going to jail. Clark asks her how she timed the phone call and how she replicated the Blur voice over. Chloe shows Clark that she used a program where she types sentences into a computer and it comes out in the synthesized Blur voice. Then Chloe admitted that she hacked into the exterior building security cameras and Lois’s cell phone which allowed her to time the phone booth call. Clark again feels like Chloe has stepped over the line by her latest privacy intrusion but she explains that she only stepped in because she was trying to throw Lois off the track that “Clark is a superhero” and she warns him to be more careful.

Later at the Planet, Clark asks Lois to meet him in the copy room and he reveals a secret to Lois. Clark puts on a pair of glasses and turns to her stating that he is near-sighted. Lois examines the glasses and tries them on and places them back in his shirt pocket and politely suggests that he wears contacts. She apologizes to him for projecting her feelings for the Blur onto him and Clark admits that it meant a lot to him that she thought of him as a hero. Lois starts to leave but she pauses, turns around, and clears up their unfinished business. She kicks a pile of tied newspapers to Clarks’s feet, climbs them, and kisses him. Clark is taken by surprise but kisses her back and Lois has a “Princess Diaries” moment and pops her leg while they kissed. Suddenly Lois begins seizing and she experiences more memories from the future including the red sun, Chloe’s death, and Clark being dragged away by Zod. She then passes out in Clark’s arms.

Idol was a great episode for Clois shippers. We got to see Lois Lane in therapy. Clark became more appreciative and connected to Lois. And Lois and Clark continued on the train towards relationship city.

The episode got my attention right away with naked Clark and Lois on a mattress in a building that’s air conditioning was a hole instead of wall separating the inside from the outside. Lois gazed outside as Clark hugged her from behind and wished that they had more time. They kiss as a red sun rose in the sky. Very hot scene. Question: What kind of SPF does one need with a red sun?

I was happy with Tom Welling’s choice when Clark wanted to talk about the kiss from Crossfire and he wasn’t angsty or moody about it. He actually had a smile on his face when he asked Lois if she wanted to talk. She of course bolted, but did better at the end of the episode.

While opening up her “present” from the Wonder Twins, Lois shared that she used to unwrap and re-wrap her Christmas presents while her parents were asleep. This fact didn’t surprise Clark or me. That will probably be the only holiday reference we will get this season. If /when we get a season 10, I really hope that we get a holiday episode. I would love to see Clark and Lois trying to buy the perfect present for each other.

During the episode Clark triedto defend The Blur, while Lois believed he did all the oops saves because he hadn’t been calling her and she had no idea what he was thinking. Plus she couldn’t look at his side if he didn’t call her.

Lois in therapy! Of course therapy is a four-letter word to Miss Lane so she had to go in disguise; which consisted of a shorter trench coat, a scarf around the head, and big sunglasses. Oh, I would love to see Clark and Lois go undercover. The disguise she would make up for Clark would be hilarious. The therapy scenes were wonderfully funny. Erica Durance did a great job of letting us see, first, how difficult opening up to a complete stranger is for Lois, and then, into the inner workings of Lois’s brain.

At first, Lois barely admited to having sex dreams about Clark, then she said that the closer to Clark she gets the more she feels like he is going to disappear. The topic swings over to The Blur, when The Blur decided to call (when the appropriate ringtone I Need a Hero). Lois ignored his call, which of course annoyed Clark now that The Blur needs her to give his side of the story. Though Clark did justify his not calling to Chloe saying after what happened in Metallo, he stopped calling her as The Blur for her own protection.

Clark and Lois argued some more about the importance of calling a girl back, and not just when you need her. I have to say I’m on her side on this one. When Lois finally did take The Blur’s call, she questioned why he wasn’t protecting himself and not turning in the Wonder Twins. The Blur said he believes in second chances. This got Lois to start ranting about him not calling. He smiled and says she is just going to have to trust him. Of course the end of the sentence was where the voice manipulator stopped working over the cell phone frequency and sounded a lot like Clark Kent.

Lois then tried to get Clark to admit he’s The Blur to her, even suggesting they carpool together so they can get to know each other better. Clark replied that everyday she tells him the color of her underwear and wondered what else is there to know. Which is a typical guy’s response, thinking if they know the color of a girl’s underwear there can’t be anything else to know.

Back in therapy, after sending the therapist’s regularly scheduled client out the door blaming the client’s parents, Lois tried to reconcile The Blur and Clark being the same person. It didn’t matter to Lois that Clark is The Blur and all she wanted to do was to be able to help him. This led her to the press conference where she defended The Blur’s right to anonymity so he can stay above Metropolis’ political system and remain a symbol of hope for its’ citizens. Clark, in the audience, looked at Lois with awe and surprise that she understands him as The Blur so well. Welling and Durance did a great job and Louis Febre’s score was amazing in this scene.

This defence of The Blur, of course, got Lois thrown off the Daily Plant’s roof. Clark tried to save her as Clark, but there was a crowd of people below them watching. He couldn’t do anything without going public as The Blur. Lois told him she knows his secret identity and understands that he can’t out himself as the mysterious superhero. The Wonder Twins came to the rescue and The Blur was able to save Lois before she hit the pavement without anyone being the wiser.

After a hug and a thank you from Lois, Clark was still unable or unwilling to admit to her that he is The Blur. Lois was justifiably upset with this. Then the pay phone next to them rang and it was…The Blur. Or Chloe impersonating The Blur to deceive her cousin and protect Clark’s secret.

Lois went back to therapy one more time. She was hard on herself and admited it would be so much easier if Clark and The Blur were the same person. Lois still has some feelings for The Blur, but her thoughts go back to Clark. I’m not sure if this the end of the “triangle built for two” on Smallville, but I somehow doubt it.

The final scene. Copy room of the Daily Plant’s basement. Clark said he is a bit nearsighted and showed Lois some glasses he has been trying not to wear. Lois tried on the glasses herself and apologized for trying to make him two different people. He wished he could, and then asked if she really hates the glasses. She likes them, but then started to make a run for it (including hitting him on the shoulder again) when things got a little more flirty. Then Lois changed her mind, put on a brave face, and kicked a stack of newspapers at Clark’s feet. She charged him and planted one on him. After the initial surprise, Clark kissed her back and her foot popped up. Of course, that was when Lois flashed to her trip to the future and went into a coma.

There were some things that were off for me in this episode. It might be that I read too many spoilers and saw the most swoon-worthy clip of Pandora the day before Idol aired, or that they filmed this episode before Crossfire and that created a feeling of off-balance. I wonder if the reason for the filming the episode out of order was to make the illusion that Welling’s hair was longer in the future than in the present. So his hair is shorter in Idol then Pandora, but if you look at Crossfire it’s long again. I personally like it on the shorter side.

The episode may feel off for me because I don’t understand why Clark won’t tell Lois his secret and I don’t think he explained it well in the episode. We got one reference to John Corbin and that was not about Lois knowing his secret that was about calling her as The Blur. I know that the producers, writers, the CW, DC, etc don’t want Lois to know, but she handled it very well. Why doesn’t Clark want her to know? And would he not have saved her if the Wonder Twins hadn’t stepped in and blocked his save from the media?

The Therapist. Was she working for Zod? Tess? Chloe? A combination? None of them? She had a British accent. Looking around her office, I don’t know if it is supposed to be reflective of Lois’s psyche or red herrings about the therapist. The lap with the red shade looked like the red sun. The chair Lois sat in looked like a quilt, which reminded me of the Kent Farm. There were two masks hanging on the wall by the bookshelf that I took to represent Clark and The Blur. The grass behind the couch reminded me that Lois still lives in Smallville. Then there was the phallic sculpture that reminded me of Lois’ flashes. I’m saying both. The set designers found a way to see into Lois’ mind beyond her words, and I don’t trust the therapist.

This is the first episode we get Lois saying “Help, somebody!” to a random crowd. A very iconic Lois Lane moment. She just needs to add Superman to that, and we’d be there.

I love that Lois kissed Clark. She is almost ready for a relationship with him. Sliding the stack of newspapers so she could be higher and in control of the kiss was awesome. I love the leg pop, very Princess Diaries. I do hope that Clark doesn’t get scared and think because Lois went into a coma while kissing him that it’s too dangerous for them to kiss. That would frustrate me, and hopefully Lois would not stand for that either.

Nitpicking

The camera angle on the final kiss was a little too tight on Durance and Welling’s faces. I would like it if the kiss was pulled back just a bit and both of them were lit well so I could see both of their faces.

Lois looked better in the glasses than Clark did. They were too small for Welling’s face. But Durance looked cute, and could pull the look off.

Warning Signs

I do not trust Chloe and I wish that she hadn’t interrupted Clark on his lecture because Chloe needs a lecture. She is starting down a path in which there is no return. It’s a slippery slope toward evil, Chloe.

The Frivolous Stuff

Durance’s legs are A-MAZING! I hear the Old Navy modelquins are jealous and starting rumors that Durance stole them. Either way, they are fantastic.

Do you think that Lois’ flashes were filmed during Idol or Pandora? I’m thinking Pandora.

I love the future if it involves more bare-chested Welling. So what if the world is ending, Welling is shirtless!

Durance looks great in green. Did you see her eyes while wearing the green? They popped. Put this woman in more green, forget all the pink.

Favorite Lines

Lois: “But just so you’re clear on one thing… (kiss)”

Lois: “I call him saxophone because he likes to blow his own horn.”

Lois: “Oh, you want to go there. Let me tell you about second chances, buddy. There’s the way you treat a woman. It’s called respect.”

And why Superman will hardly ever get away with anything when married to Lois: ”There is no try Skywalker. you have super powers. Why don’t you pick up a phone?”

Favorite Moment

Lois kicking the newspapers to Clark and putting her brave face on to kiss him.

Rating

4 out of 5. I just needed a better explanation on Clark’s part on why he can’t tell Lois his secret.

Next Week

Get the defibrillators out. We’re going to need them.

Hello, my name is Sarah and I’m a TV shipper. I’m so glad I’m finally able to admi

Hello, my name is Sarah and I’m a TV shipper. I’m so glad I’m finally able to admit that. I love shipping TV characters. Relationships are my favorite aspects of television shows. If a television show doesn’t focus on a relationship, I will lose interest and not watch. That means no CSI or Law and Order for me.

That’s fine though. It works for me. I’m tired of feeling like I should apologize for being a shipper. I enjoy a legitimate aspect of many shows. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the other aspects fo the shows I watch, but the relationships are what brings me back week after week.

You many be wondering who I have shipped, and who I currently ship. Knowing my track record may help you. I reached back as far into my memory as I could and came up with 20 couples I have shipped or currently ship. The list includes couples from both daytime and primetime, though I no longer watch daytime dramas. Most couples I ship romantically, but there are a few I shipped their friendship.

Frisco and Felicia (General Hospital): I was three. I started my shipping young.

Anna and Robert (General Hospital): I probably learned how to ship watching daytime dramas.

Tess and Dickie (Reasonable Doubts): 10 bonus points if you have even heard of this show.

Monica and Chandler (Friends): I shipped them from the very beginning.

Dan and Casey (Sports Night): They had an awesome friendship on a show that was cancelled too early.

Lois and Clark (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman)

Kenny and Max (Picket Fences)

Robin and Jason (General Hospital)

Isabel and Alex (Roswell)

Felicity and Noel (Felicity)

Piper and Leo (Charmed)

Lorelei and Luke (Gilmore Girls)

Sydney and Vaughn (Alias)

Patrick and Robin (General Hospital)

House and Cameron (House)

Booth and Bones (Bones)

Izzie and Alex (Grey’s Anatomy)

Shawn and Gus (Psych)

Jim and Pam (The Office)

Lois and Clark (Smallville)

As you can see, some of my ships came in, and some did not. Some of these ships have made me suffer quite more than I would have liked. But they are what made the television shows I liked more interesting to me and gave me something to root for. I had a vested interest in the shows because of these couples.

I will be reviewing episodes from a shipper’s point of view. I will start with Smallville. The ninth season of Smallville has been especially good for us Clois shippers, so Lois and Clark are the couple I most excited about this television season. Also, you will see that Lois and Clark actually made my list twice, which probably shows my inner geek just as much as is shows my shipper heart. I may review other shows if I can find the time along with reviewing Smallville every week.

Feel free to comment and my list and tell me yours.

Action Comics #883
Written by Greg Rucka and Eric Trautmann
Art by Pere Perez
Co-Feature by Rucka and James Robinson
Art by Cafu

The Superman books are some of the best intriguing, story-driven, and exciting comics I have read in a long time. Robinson and Rucka have crafted such a wonderful mystery here and I will keep saying it again and again. We finally get to see the Nightwing entity in action this issue albeit briefly. I love the new Nightwing and Flamebird costumes. They are simple and visually appealing and I like how they honor Superman on their belts. I hope these costumes stick around. Jimmy Olsen’s (possible murder) disappearance is investigated by Perry White. I am surprised that that plot point is being followed up here instead of by Robinson over in Superman but that just goes to show how tightly intertwined the books are right now. The Captain Atom co-feature makes great use of continuity by referencing Superman/Batman and Captain Atom’s time as monarch. I love continuity shout-outs like that! I guess that is why my blog is named what it is. Anyways, the art was fantastic and so was the writing on it. Great issue.

Blogging meets my three loves; Macs, Coffee & Shakespeare...

Blogging has been a fundamental part of the postgraduate magazine journalism diploma that I am completing at Cardiff University. As I have said before, I was completely dreading the thought of blogging. I thought that I would be lost for words, wracking my brains for things to write, then struggling to find the time to actually blog at all. Instead I have found that I am conjuring up new things to blog about all the time, and it has almost become a case of what not to include, rather than scrounging and scrambling for inspiration.

Although we have continually been told throughout our lectures that blogging is a great way of showcasing our work and style of writing, it wasn’t until our online lecture with The Times’s Web Development Editor Joanna Geary this week that I realised the potential for this blog to eventually help me get an actual job in journalism. Maybe…

Journalism & Superman went hand in hand for 12 year-old Joanna Geary...

With her entertaining presentation, entitled How I Got My Job, And Other Stories, Geary told us about how she got into journalism- the hard way. Geary started with the dream of becoming the next Lois Lane (complete with Superman boyfriend) at the age of 12 and progressed to doing work experience with her local paper every summer for years on end. After graduating from university, and after many job rejections, Geary finally got her break at the paper when they needed someone young to shake up the business section of the paper. With plenty of enthusiasm, but not a vast knowledge of the world of business, Geary quickly made business her specialist subject- an initiative that most of our online lecturers have advocated that we cultivate for ourselves.

Like myself, Geary was initially reluctant to embrace the world of blogging. It was Pete Ashton, who along with Stef Lewandowski set up the Birmingham blog network Created In Birmingham in 2007, who was the trigger in finally persuaded Geary to begin blogging. The CIB blog showcases the artistic and creative communities in Birmingham, and focuses on bringing communities in Birmingham together to celebrate the many creative aspects the city offers. Yet despite the initial relunctance, Geary caved in and started a blog. Here are the opening words to her first blog post in September 2007:

“I sit on the floor surrounded by badly cut pieces of laminate- the casualties of my hopeless attempts at DIY.

This, I guess, is as good a time as any to start my own blog.”

Yet once she set one up, she too couldn’t stop writing.

Bearing in mind the success of her personal blog, it wasn’t too long before Geary was asked by her boss to create a series of blogs for The Birmingham Post. Due to a slight misunderstanding, Geary starting to set up a whole network of bloggers in the Birmingham area, even getting prolific local writers on board through some tactical bribing. Even Geary didn’t realise the power of her blog network, and it was only a few years later that she landed her job at The Times, when an editor at the paper sent her a tweet on Twitter offering her an interview. This helps to demonstrate how Twitter is fast becoming the new email. Quick, and to the point, tweets of up to 140 characters can often have more of an impact than a wordy email. It certainly worked for Geary and even got her the high-profile job she has and loves today.

Dodgy DIY- as good a reason to start a blog as any...

Geary confessed that she isn’t, and never has been, a technological junkie. This is encouraging, as although I am not completely computer illiterate, I am no ‘techo wizz’ either. I just love writing. And if blogging can help me to eventually turn this love into a professional career then I will carry on blogging regardless. With my current struggles to obtain some magazine work experience for next Easter, Geary has given me a glimmer of hope that if I keep on trying I will get some eventually. And if I still haven’t heard from the magazines I’ve applied to in a week I may even send them a tweet. Who knows, with the immediacy and directness of Twitter, they may actually reply…
