I haven’t posted in a while, and I wanted to make this one extra special, hopefully it will be!  First of all, I want to say thanks to all the people who have checked out Warm Warmer Disco, y’all are amazing–please stick with me, I swear I’ll write more!

Secondly, I’ve been thinking about my Crushes of ‘09 lately, and there are a lot of them. Soooo I thought it’d sort of be fun to do a post featuring a few of them. Here goes…

Warm Warmer Disco’s Crushes of ‘09:

Marina

1. Marina Diamandis – the lead singer of Marina and the Diamonds is a hottie with a body (& a voice). I love, love, love Marina and the Diamonds so much, their sound is pretty refreshing + their videos are out of control. I actually did a previous post about them here if you wanna peep their videos, & I’ve been really digging the Russ Chimes remix of Mowgli’s Road (link via hot biscuits, of course ) too. Also, they played Mowgli’s Road for BBC Radio 1, yum!

Hayley

2. Hayley Williams – the lead singer of Paramore is amazing. Paramore has been playing for only a few years and I’ve been with ‘em for most of the way. There’s something about her voice… I don’t know if it’s her intonation or her range but it works so well with the rest of the band, and it definitely pulls me in. Their sound is pretty popular and I think their latest album, brand new eyes, has sold the most records for them yet; power to them! Keep cranking out the tunes, and I’ll be here, stalking. PS Hayley we wanna have your babiez! PPS check out two previous posts featuring Paramore here and here. PPPS Hayley you are my idol… be mah friend?

Stefan

3. Paul Wesley – aka Stefan Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries is my new Edward. The Vampire Diaries is a new show that started this fall, and of course, it’s all about vampires. However, it’s not very Twilight-esque. Sure, there is a couple longing stares and cheesy lines in the mix, but in general, I think the acting is way better (*hint *hint Kristen Stewart) and that the story line is darker, and, ultimately, more interesting. Also, the music is really yummy. I’ve done a couple of previous posts about the VDiaries and its music here, here, and here. Sooooo, check ‘em out and check VDiaries out, guarantee you’ll be crushing too.

Nutella

4. Nutella: The Original Chocolate Hazelnut Spread – yeahhh, it’s really good on pretzels, pancakes, crackers, bread, strawberries, and EVERYTHING …om nom nom, Nutella in my mouf.

Jenny

5. Mia Kirshner – aka Jenny Schecter of The L Word is so awesome. The last and sixth season of The L Word premiered in January of this year. It was all about Jenny and I loved it, while everyone else secretly did (You know who you are B1). If you haven’t watched The L Word, you should. Season 1 & season 2 are the best ones in my opinion, but it’s definitely worth it to watch the whole series (Showtime knows what’s up when it comes to making good shows e.g. Dexter, Weeds, The Tudors, etc). PS this post is for B2 & Nate, holla .

Lolcats

6. Lolcats – I’ve been crushing on ‘em for a while, and the phrases, “I can haz”, “do want”, and “oh hai” are permanent parts of my vernacular… No, I’m not ashamed. Dey iz so funnyz! #WWDwillbeacatladysomeday

7. Robert Pattinson – aka Edward Cullen from New Moon has a pretty permanent spot in my heart…once you go vampire you don’t go back I guess, and that’s pretty true for WWD (I’m all about ‘em). His jaw and hair speak for themselves I think, and even though he’s not really in New Moon that much, I’m still on ‘Team Edward’. Plus, New Moon’s soundtrack is pretty off the chain, and it makes up for his lack of onscreen time in the movie. In particular, Thom Yorke’s track “Hearing Damage” and the Bon Iver & St. Vincent collab “Roslyn” stuck out to me the most. Give ‘em a try, and get your indie on!

Eric

8. Alexander Skarsgård - aka Eric of True Blood is, well, a badass. He was more of a main character in this season of True Blood which aired this summer, and I loved every second of it. Of course, he’s a vampire (vampire #3 for this list actually), but he’s also extremely captivating on screen. Like VDiaries, True Blood is a show that I genuinely like, having vampires in it helps, but it’s not the only thing that draws me to it (I’m not about to rush out and see The Vampire’s Assistant, it looks horrendous). So get to it, jump on the vamp bandwagon, trust me.

Twitter

9. Twitter - this is actually my favorite social networking site. Sure, I see the ^fail whale once in a while, but I think it’s definitely a lot more fun than facebook. Well, it’s definitely a lot easier anyway. I think twitter has caught on with a lot of people, and I hope it sticks around, cuz WWD is hooked. #megacrush09. Disco

10. Disco – my biggest crush of ‘09 (and most likely of all time ). I’ve been digging disco/disco house for a really long time, but it wasn’t until this year that I really noticed how much I loved it. I owe a lot to this genre, after all, it’s what inspired me to get this blog rolling – Holla to all of you artists, musicians, and DJs out there, without you, Warm Warmer Disco would just be a line from Pulp Fiction…

It’s quiet here.  Which I’m grateful for.  Thanksgiving Eve, and I’m just waiting for all the work bombs to drop before I can actually leave the office and get ready for some gluttony over Thanksgiving.

It’s been 24 hours since I was last with you.  I’m at work now and all I can think about is you.  There is a firewall here and I feel as if I’ve been cut off from oxygen.  I miss you like a foolishly planted lawn in the desert misses the tickle of a sprinkler.  Missing you aches in me like I have never ached before.

I sit here fantasizing about the tantalizing lick of your instantly useless information and how it curls my toes and leaves me gasping for more.  The erotic way you connect umpteen million busy little human minds all straining to fill the void of humanity they’ve lost beneath your touch.  The meaningful way you guide my fingers as I stroke and click slipping down YouTube and Wiki rabbit holes.  You tenderly show me how I can look up Winston Churchill and spin me in a torrent connecting subjects until I come to a focus breathlessly looking up Hindu tantric sex practices.

I can’t help but remember when we met.  I was sixteen then.  You were young then too, dressed in HTML chatrooms, basic email and that sweet sweet call of dialup tone.  You had so much potential it made me dizzy.  You took me by the hand and I fell hard for you.  The connection of words and emotions with people I would never meet while you watched on, drove me into a manic frenzy.  It wasn’t long before I was calling in “sick” to work and cutting school just to spend more and more time with you.

The fantasy of you has always been infinite.  I have tried over the years…I have tried so hard to quit you, every single time I get closer and closer, I shut you out for days and then helplessly succumb.  I create new identities, multiple email addresses, talk to different people, all trying to trick you and trick myself that I don’t need you.  It always ends the same.  I do need you.

You offer me something that I perceive that the world cannot; I can change with you and you let me.  With you I can be myself and a dozen other people at once.  Am I a blond today? a brunette? man? woman? educated? uneducated?  Do I live in Burma? LA? Ohio? Florida? Germany?…With you I am free and I can do whatever I want…I can be anyone.

You let my fingers roam, you make me your bitch and let me think I can make you mine.  I tune in to echoing worthless conversations on podcasts.  I listen to the meandering musical selections on Pandora.com and create my own music playlists on Playlist.com, finding new bands and streaming downloads of junk music I have no desire to listen to.   You dance me through countless sites where everyone with a music editing program can become a DJ.

Hundreds of hours I have spent at addictinggames.com content to simply be touching you while I should be doing so many other things.  You generously bring to me peopleofwalmart.com and icanhazcheesburger.com, indulging me for hours and hours with grinning cats and unwittingly hopeless shoppers all decorated with amusing captions.  You let me access a billion sites and blogs of self-righteous opinionated human thought.  You give me twitter and a constant feed to the whim of hourly self-interested mundane thoughts from the entire global populace.  You let grant me access to Facebook and MySpace and a slough of self-taken-arms-length photos of people I will never meet and never want to, but who fascinate me by displaying their bodies and faces in ways that would make Larry Flynt blush.  You bring fame to any shameless idiot willing to hang themselves out there with a webcam or video camera and no sense of decency.  You give every teenager the balls to be an affront to the language of their countries (mostly English).  I watch all of this voyeuristically drooling, envious and knowing that ignorance is bliss.

You are the only addiction for me now.  You are the only one I want.  No addiction or mania I have had in the past has ever meant as much to me as you do.

Last night I did the dishes and cleaned the house.  I had an actual conversation with my neighbor of three years who didn’t know who I was and had never seen me.  I fed my cats.  I went for a walk; Outside, not just the treadmill.  I even read that book I bought six months ago.   I miss you so much, my life is empty without you.  I’ll be back tonight, I promise.

Who won a prize? I won a prize!

The prize was for my speech!  We had our Visual presentations, and Miah said he’d give out prizes to the 1)humorous 2)inovative 3) page (from a tv show) presentations.

I did my speech on Memes. Surprisingly, not too many people knew about them… but I did get alot of laughs. I even imitated my favorite meme Bubb Rubb, saying “WooWooo”. I was so nervous to do it, but I did! and got an outburst of laughter.  Miah said I made him laugh the most, especially because of that, so I thought I’d get the humorous award. Instead I won the innovative award!

He said it was inovative because of the topic I chose (Memes).  He found it interesting how in a class of designers, because we are the people who create memes.  Instead he liked my approach to relating it to society within a design class.

I mentioned things such as how our society is staring to talk in lolspeak and eventually our society is going to transform the language and “o hai gaiz” will be the proper way for future generations to write “oh hi guys” (coined by my Linguistics friend Kelp).

So woo. Prize!

This was in the Innovative goodie bag..haha. “Innovative products”: A cushioned seat belt comforter, and the ever so innovative mouthwash.

I’m glad I won this award though, being innovative is good right?! plus the humor award got a highschool musical barbie doll thing… because Miah finds nothing more hilarious than High School Musical.. and if I got that I wouldn’t know what to do with it.

At least my prizes are practical in some way!

Yes, I mimicked those Woo Woos, which is something I wouldn’t usually do. When I was practicing I kept thinking about Kev saying it and thus making me always laugh.

Miah said I should have put more pictures/examples.. and I wanted to except I was afraid of the time constraint.. because I did have a bunch of memes I wanted to show but my speech kept going over 6 minuets with them.

Anywho, I’m proud of myself! because I was so nervous giving my speech/standing in front of people!

Also, my mom called my during my speech! It was embarassing, my phone went off and I couldnt turn it off since I was in front of the class… so I had to stop for a second and say that was my phone going off. Altha was nice to turn it off for me. But ugh. My mom calls me at the worse times.

We had a nude model in our drawing class today, an it was a female. I remember when I got a male before Kevin was like “QQ”.

Models aren’t fun for me because… their poses are often timed, and I take a long time trying to figure out my proportions and stuff.  Plus I’m a generally slow drawer (I like to take my time usually). That’s why these are all not a full body image.

I got my schedule for next quarter today.  I only had to make one adjustment because my color theory class was at 8 a.m – 12p.m. and I would have a 4 hour gap between classes…and I live semi far and wouldn’t know what to do with that time.

I actually went in, and it too 5 seconds! It was amazingly fast! I’m glad I got to switch my color theory times. Plus I get to keep my mornings <3.

I’m very much excited for my Game Survey class next quarter too! because it’s the first game related class  I get to take finally!

I also got a picture of Miah, who was sitting infront of me for the presentations.  He’s so hip and stylish!
